  • PDO::PARAM for type decimal?

    I have 2 database fields `decval` decimal(5,2) `intval` int(3) I have 2 pdo queries that update them. The one that updates the int works ok $update_intval->bindParam(':intval', $intval, PDO::PARAM_INT); but I can't update the decimal field. I've tried the 3 ways below, but nothing works $update_decval->bindParam(':decval', $decval, PDO::PARAM_STR); $update_decval->bindParam(':decval', $decval, PDO::PARAM_INT); $update_decval->bindParam(':decval', $decval); It seems the problem is with the database type decimal? Is there a PDO::PARAM for a field of type decimal? If not, what do I use as a workaround?

My relational schema looks like this: Thread = (threadid, threadname, threadLocation) threadoffering = (threadid, season, year, user) user = (name, points) Then, what I need is to check: WHERE thread.threadid = threadoffering.threadid AND where threadoffering.year AND threadoffering.season = currentDate AND where threadoffering.User 1 GIVE 5 % raise TO user.points I hope it is explained thoroughly but otherwise here it is in short text: Give a 5 % “point raise” to all users who has more than 1 thread in threadLocation CS in the current year and season (always dynamic, so for example now is year = 2010 and season is = spring).     Hi all - I'm developing a simple LAMP app where users can credit their account using Paypal. I suspect this is a simple issue, but have spent quite a while experimenting to no avail and would appreciate any thoughts: System has a user management system working fine using sessions, but I can't get it to display the current user's credit. But I've been trying things along the lines of: $result = mysql_query(" SELECT * FROM users INNER JOIN account ON account.UserID=account.UserID ORDER BY account.accountID"); while($_SESSION['Username'] = $row['Username'] ) { echo $row['Username']; echo $row['Credit']; } I suspect the while statement is invalid, but I want it to echo username and credit where the current session username = the username stored in the database.   • Table design issues - should I create separate fields or store as a blob

    Hi guys I'm working on my web based ordering system and we would like to maintain a kind of task history for each of our orders. A hsitory in the sense that we would like to maintain a log of who did what on an order like lets say an order has been entered - we would like to know if the order was acknowledged for an example. Or lets say somebody followed up on the order - etc. Consider that there are numerous situations like this for each order would it be wise to create a schema on the lines of: Orders ID - title - description - date - is_ack - is_follow - ack_by ..... That accounts to a lot of fields - on teh other hand I could have one LongText field called 'history' and fill it with a serialised object holding all the information. However in the latter case I can't run a query to lets say retrieve all orders that have not been acknowledged and stuff like that. With time requirements woudl change and I would be required to modify it to allow for more detailed tracking and that is why I need to set up a way which would be feasible to scale upon yet I don't want to be restricted on the SQL side too much.

  • Opencart Installation and Display Errors

    Hello, I need a bit of help installing a copy of Opencart onto my Godaddy hosting. I have had one major problem and that was, after during and after the install, none of the styles or images where appearing. I was able to completely fix the admin panel, but I am now running into problems with the frontend. I was able to fix the styles by editing a couple lines in the index.php file: define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://' . $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'] .'/opencart/'); define('HTTP_IMAGE', 'http://jpoles1.com/image/'); Now the problem is that unless you are on the base url http://jpoles1.com/opencart/, none of the database functionality works. For example the brands dropdown on the left will only be populated on the root page. Am I going about this problem the wrong way? What should I do to fix this problem? -- Thanks, Jordan

  • Visual Studio 2008 Unexpected Error on Project Checkout with VSS 2005

    I've encountered an odd misbehavior of VS 2008's integration with Visual Source Safe 2005. Situation occurs when I fire up VS2008 when a project is checked out to someone else, and later they check the project back in, while I still hold the VS2008 open. If I at that time add a new item, VS2008 tells me that my action has caused a check out of the project and a new version has been loaded from source control. Fair enough, but thereafter I get an error dialog stating "Visual Studio has encountered an unexpected error" with OK at every subsequent action, such as save file and search text, making it almost unusable. This is overcome by closing VS (which pops the error dialog once more) and restarting. Is there some kind of fix or workaround to this (besides the obvious ones: "don't try to check out the project when it's checked out to someone else", or "get latest version if you think the other person may have checked the project back in")?

  • Slug ID's with the same name?

    I want to create slug URL's from a users title in my system. If a user types "The best way's to get slim; period!", then I want the slug to be "the-best-ways-to-get-slim-period". Also, if someone has already created a page with that title I want the slug to be "the-best-ways-to-get-slim-period-1". My question is how can I check the database before a record is created? Ok, obviously I am going to have to perform a check in the database, and then a write. That's 2 queries. Is this the normal way to do it? Also, are there any conventional regular expressions for filtering non alpha/number characters and replacing spaces with hyphens? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

  • How to mark posts as edited?

    I would like to have questions marked as "Edited", but I dont know what the best way to do this would be. Users post a question, people answer/comment on the question, and if necessary the user edits/updates the question (just like SO). I would like to note that the user edited the question, but I'm not sure of the best way to do this. I was going to add a last_edited column in the table (because thats all thats really important to me), but I'm not sure if I should just split the edit times (and whatever else) into another table and record everytime the question gets edited.
