  • How do I load ascx pages faster in visual studio 2008?

    One of my (my team's) biggest peeves with VS2008 is the slow speed in which ascx load. It could take up to a couple minutes to do something as simple as a text or style change simply because of the time it takes to load an ascx page into the visual studio text editor. Half the time I'm tempted to check out the file, edit it in notepad, then check it back in. Is there any trick to speeding this up?

  • Exporting SQL Server Databases for offline use

    I have a desktop application (C# .NET 3.5) that uses a SQL server for it's database. I have had a request from the client, however, to make it possible to export the database as it stands, and be able to use it on a laptop without connectivity. They understand that updates to the parent server will not be reflected in these offline clients. Is there a way I can just save the DataSet's to a binary form and write them to a disk and send those files to the offline clients.

  • How do I make links in a TextView clickable?

    I have the following TextView defined: <TextView android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:text="@string/txtCredits" android:autoLink="web" android:id="@+id/infoTxtCredits" android:layout_centerInParent="true" android:linksClickable="true"></TextView> where @string/txtCredits is a string resource that contains Link text. Android is highlighting the links in the TextView, but they do not respond to clicks. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Do I have to set an onClickListener for the TextView in my activity for something as simple as this?

  • Ctrl-M chars when transfer files SFTP

    Hi, I am sending files from a windows system to a Unix SFTP server using JSCAPE ftp client. However, I am experiencing the following issue: When uploading a text file from windows to UNiX, each line of text files transferred contains Control-M characters. I did some search and found out that If I use the "ASCII" transfer mode it should solve the issue. But the Ctrl-M is still appearing on the files. Can anyone throw some light in this issue? thanks in advance

  • How to troubleshoot a Highcharts script that's not rendering data when date is added and hanging the JS engine with large datasets?

    I have a Highchart JS graph that I'm building in Rails (although I don't think Ruby has real bearing on this problem unless it's the Date output format) to which I'm adding the timestamp of each datapoint. Presently the array of floats is rendering fine without timestamps, however when I add the timestamp to the series it fails to rend. What's worse is that when the series has hundreds of entries all sorts of problems arise, not the least of which is the browser entirely hanging and requiring a force quit / kill. Notwithstanding, when I compare the data series in one of their very similar examples here: http://www.highcharts.com/demo/spline-irregular-time It appears that really the data series are formatted identically (except in mine I use the timestamp vs date method). This leads me to think I've got a problem with the timestamp output, but I'm just not able to figure out where / how as I'm converting the date output to an integer multipled by 1000 to convert it to milliseconds as per explained in a similar Railscasts tutorial. I would very much appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction here as to what I may be doing wrong. What could cause no data to appear on the graph in smaller sized sets (<100 points) and when into the hundreds causes an apparent hang in the javascript engine in this case?   • AJAX response not valid in C++ but Apache

    I want to make a server written in C++ to power my game. I learned the basics of sockets and wrote a basic chat program that worked well. Now I want to create an HTTP server like Apache, but only for the AJAX request-response part. I think just for the beginning i copied one Apache response text, and i sent the exact response with the C++ server program. The problem that is that the browser (Firefox) connnects to the apache and everything works fine, except all of the requests get a correct response. But if i send this with the C++ client, then FireBug tells me that the response status is OK (200) but there is no actual response text. (How is this possible?) This response-text is exactly the same what apache sends. I made a bit-bit comparison and they were the same. The main.cpp there is lot of trash code like main3 and main4 functions, these do not affect the result. I know that the response stuff in the C++ code is not really good because the connection closing is not the best; I will fix that later now I want to send a success response first. UPDATE: now i tested today a lot again and i find out there is no problem with the socket. I used the fiddler program to capture the the good answer and to capture the bad. They were the same. After this i turned off my socket application, and forced fiddler to auto respond, and the answer from the 'bad' answer still bat. So after that i replaced the bad with the good and nothing happedned. The bad answer with the good text still bad on the :8888 port but the other on the original :80 port was good, but they were absolutly the same and the same program sended it (fiddler) i think there is something missing if the response is not on the same server address (even not the same port). UPDATE: oh my god! i cant send ajax request to a remote server. now i know this.

  • What is mangling tinyurls?

I've noticed that some form processors make a mess out of posted TinyURLs (converting the thing to a broken 'tinyurl": "http:\/?\/?tinyurl.com\/?whatever", "ok": tr') while leaving alone other plain URLs. I've seen it happen in WordPress, and I've seen it here on SO (eg.: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2508690/whats-the-most-efficient-way-to-setup-a-multi-lingual-website - second comment to first answer). Has anybody looked into what component or function is doing this? Is there a way to prevent it?

  • Is document.links faster in finding a link using jQuery?

    Is this faster: $(document.links).filter('a.someClass') than just plain old this: $('a.someClass') ? I don't see anywhere in jQuery's code the utilization of document.links which gives you the collection of links on the document right away, than, it would seem, it would be faster to just filter in the collection instead of all the DOM nodes, which is alot more nodes to go over.

    I have an ObjectDataSource that I'm using with a FormView, and it works fine, but i want to change one small thing. On the FormView the button that fires the update has the CommandName attribute set to "Update," but I would like to change that attribute to something other than "Update" - when I do change that attribute the update no longer works. The reason I want to do this is I have multiple FormViews on the same page and need to have multiple update buttons. The second crazy idea i had was to pass the variable values in as part of the third param of the findDependentRowset() method. $menA = $league->findDependentRowset('Model_DbTable_LeagueSummary','MenA',array("I","A")); Any suggestions on how I might use the Zend DB Table Relationship mapping correctly to do this would be appreciated. I'm not interested in the plain, old and ugly $db-select(a,b,c)-where(..) style solution.

  • Binding problem in C# wpf

    I have a problem whit binding in wpf i have a textbox where i can do some input, then i try to bind the textinput to a custom usercontrol. This work for the usercontrol within RowDetailsTemplate but not in the CellTemplate. For each object in the CellTemplate i get this error output: System.Windows.Data Error: 4 : Cannot find source for binding with reference 'ElementName=ScaleTextBox'.   • WPF DataGrid bind data between columns

    Lets say I have 2 columns in my data Grid: Column A: Selected, and Column B: Name. The Selected column is a checkbox. And Name column is text field. I want to set the color of the text in 'Name' column as Blue if Column A's check box is checked, and Red otherwise. Essentially I don't know how to bind data between columns of the datagrid. And sample code/link providing example would be useful.
