  • SQLite MYSQL character encoding

    - by Lee Armstrong
    I have a strange situation where the following code works however XCode warns it is deprecated... NSString *col1 = [NSString stringWithCString:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 0)]; However as that is the deprecated method if I set an encoding the string comes out wrong! I have tried all the encodings but none work! NSString *col1 = [NSString stringWithCString:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(compiledStatement, 0) encoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding];

  • NSConcreteData leaked object in objective c ?

    - by Madan Mohan
    Hi Guys, I am getting the NSConcreteData leaked object while testing the leaks in the instruments.It showing in the parser, - (void)parseXMLFileAtURL:(NSURL *)URL { [urlList release]; urlList = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; myParser = [[NSXMLParser alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:URL] ;// it showing this line as leaking [myParser setDelegate:self]; [myParser setShouldProcessNamespaces:NO]; [myParser setShouldReportNamespacePrefixes:NO]; [myParser setShouldResolveExternalEntities:NO]; [myParser parse]; [myParser release]; }

  • So where is this calling super?

    - by dontWatchMyProfile
    From the Core Data docs: Inheritance If you have two subclasses of NSManagedObject where the parent class implements a dynamic property and its subclass (the grandchild of NSManagedObject) overrides the methods for the property, those overrides cannot call super. @interface Parent : NSManagedObject @property(nonatomic, retain) NSString* parentString; @end @implementation Parent @dynamic parentString; @end @interface Child : Parent @end @implementation Child - (NSString *)parentString { // this throws a "selector not found" exception return parentString.foo; } @end very, very funny, because: I see nobody calling super. Or are they? Wait... parentString.foo results in ... a crash ??? it's a string. How can that thing have a .foo suffixed to it? Just another documentation bug?

  • NSManagedObject How To Reload

    - by crissag
    I have a view that consists of a table of existing objects and an Add button, which allows the user to create a new object. When the user presses Add, the object is created in the list view controller, so that the object will be part of that managed object context (via the NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName: method). The Add view has a property for the managed object. In the list view controller, I create an Add view controller, set the property to the managed object I created, and then push the Add view on to the navigation stack. In the Add view, I have two buttons for save and cancel. In the save, I save the managed object and pass the managed object back to the list view controller via a delegate method. If the user cancels, then I delete the object and pass nil back to the list view controller. The complication I am having in the add view is related to a UIImagePickerController. In the Add view, I have a button which allows the user to take a photo of the object (or use an existing photo from the photo library). However, the process of transferring to the UIImagePickerController and having the user use the camera, is resulting in a didReceiveMemoryWarning in the add view controller. Further, the view was unloaded, which also caused my NSManagedObject to get clobbered. My question is, how to you go about reloading the NSManagedObject in the case where it was released because of the low memory situation?

  • UIButton does not respond to touch events after changing its position using setFrame

    - by Pranathi
    I have a view controller class (child) which extends from view controller class (parent). In the parent class's loadView() method I create a sub-view (named myButtonView) with two buttons (buttons are horizontally laid out in the subview) and add it to the main view. In the subclass I need to shift these two buttons up by 50pixels. So, I am shifting the buttonView by calling the setFrame method. This makes the buttons shift and render properly but they do not respond to touch events after this. Buttons work properly in the views of Parent class type. In the child class type view also, if I comment out the setFrame() call the buttons work properly. How can I shift the buttons and still make them respond to touch events? Any help is appreciated. Following is snippets of the code. In the parent class: - (void)loadView { // Some code... CGRect buttonFrameRect = CGRectMake(0,yOffset+1,screenRect.size.width,KButtonViewHeight); myButtonView = [[UIView alloc]initWithFrame:buttonFrameRect]; myButtonView.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; [self.view addSubview:myButtonView]; // some code... CGRect nxtButtonRect = CGRectMake(screenRect.size.width - 110, 5, 100, 40); myNxtButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; [myNxtButton setTitle:@"Submit" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; myNxtButton.frame = nxtButtonRect; myNxtButton.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; [myNxtButton addTarget:self action:@selector(nextButtonPressed:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [myButtonView addSubview:myNxtButton]; CGRect backButtonRect = CGRectMake(10, 5, 100, 40); myBackButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom]; [myBackButton setTitle:@"Back" forState:UIControlStateNormal]; myBackButton.frame = backButtonRect; myBackButton.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; [myBackButton addTarget:self action:@selector(backButtonPressed:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; [myButtonView addSubview:myBackButton]; // Some code... } In the child class: - (void)loadView { [super loadView]; //Some code .. CGRect buttonViewRect = myButtonView.frame; buttonViewRect.origin.y = yOffset; // This is basically original yOffset + 50 [myButtonView setFrame:buttonViewRect]; yOffset += KButtonViewHeight; // Add some other view below myButtonView .. }

  • What's does "cardinality of an relationship" mean in Core Data?

    - by dontWatchMyProfile
    From the docs: If all of a managed object's relationship delete rules are Nullify, then for that object at least there is no additional work to do (you may have to consider other objects that were at the destination of the relationship—if the inverse relationship was either mandatory or had a lower limit on cardinality, then the destination object or objects might be in an invalid state). Does someone have an example of this cardinality thing? What's this good for and what's important to know about this? (sounds very important...)

  • Remove newline character while XML parsing

    - by Prashant
    Hi, I am facing a problem while XML parsing. I have an NSMutablestring currentElementValue that has newlines into it. It has been received as an XMl from a web source. Even when i am trying to remove newline charactersets of substring the first 3 char there is no effect on the string. What can be done here? Regards PC Code is (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser foundCharacters:(NSString *)string { if(!currentElementValue) currentElementValue = [[NSMutableString alloc] initWithString:string]; else { [currentElementValue substringFromIndex:3]; [currentElementValue stringByTrimmingCharactersInSet:[NSCharacterSet newlineCharacterSet]]; NSLog(@"Processing Value : %@ with length %d", currentElementValue,[currentElementValue length] ); }

  • How can I differentiate two different touches on a layer ?

    - by srikanth rongali
    I am writing an app in cocos2d. I hava a sprite and a text in my scene. I have written two separate classes for sprite and text. And I added both of them to another class. In sprite class I have written - (void)ccTouchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event And in text class I have written -(void) registerWithTouchDispatcher { [[CCTouchDispatcher sharedDispatcher]addTargetedDelegate:self priority:0 swallowsTouches:YES]; } -(BOOL) ccTouchBegan:(UITouch *)touch withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { return YES; } -(void) ccTouchEnded:(UITouch *)touch withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { NSLog(@"Recognized tOuches in Instructions");// CGSize windowSize = [[CCDirector sharedDirector] winSize]; CCNode *node = [self getChildByTag:kTagNode]; [node setPosition: ccp(text1.contentSize.width/2,text1.contentSize.height/2 - windowSize.height)]; } -(void) ccTouchMoved:(UITouch *)touch withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { CGPoint touchLocation = [touch locationInView: [touch view]]; CGPoint prevLocation = [touch previousLocationInView: [touch view]]; touchLocation = [[CCDirector sharedDirector] convertToGL: touchLocation]; prevLocation = [[CCDirector sharedDirector] convertToGL: prevLocation]; CGPoint diff = ccpSub(touchLocation,prevLocation); CCNode *node = [self getChildByTag:kTagNode]; CGPoint currentPos = [node position]; [node setPosition: ccpAdd(currentPos, diff)]; } But, only touches in the text are recognized and touch of sprite is not recognized ? How can I differentiate the two touches.

  • UITabBarController not showing all view controllers

    - by rounak
    My UITabBarcontroller has two view controllers -Favorites -Keypad I add these two controllers in an array in the order Favorites,Keypad,nil. When the app is launched only the Favorites tab appears in the tabbar, I have to click the second tab for the "Keypad" (Title of the viewController) text to appear on the tabbar. How do I make the tabbar have the title of both the view controllers at startup itself?

  • mutableCopyWithZone updating a property value.

    - by Jim
    I have a Class that I need to copy with the ability to make changes the value of a variable on both Classes. Simply put the classes need to remain clones of each other at all times. My understanding of the documentation is that I can do this using a shallow copy of the Class which has also been declared mutable. By shallow copying the pointer value for the variable will be cloned so that it is an exact match in both classes. So when I update the variable in the original the copy will be updated simultaneously. Is this right? As you can see below I have used mutableCopyWithZone in the class I want to copy. I have tried both NSCopyObject and allocWithZone methods to get this to work. Although I'm able to copy the class and it appears as intended, when updating the variable it is not changing value in the copied Class. - (id)mutableCopyWithZone:(NSZone *)zone { //ReviewViewer *copy = NSCopyObject(self, 0, zone); ReviewViewer *copy = [[[self class] allocWithZone:zone] init]; copy->infoTextViews = [infoTextViews copy]; return copy; } infoTextViews is a property declared as nonatomic, retain in the header file of the class being copied. I have also implemented the NSMutableCopying protocol accordingly. Any help would be great.

  • Rewrite C++ code into Objective C

    - by Phil_M
    Hello I got some C++ Sourcecode that I would like to rewrite into Objective C. It would help me alot if someone could write me a header file for this Code. When I get the Headerfile I would be able to rewrite the rest of the Sourcecode. It would be very nice if someone could help me please. Thanks I will poste the sourcecode here: #include <stdlib.h> #include <iostream.h> #define STATES 5 int transitionTable[STATES][STATES]; // function declarations: double randfloat (void); int chooseNextEventFromTable (int current, int table[STATES][STATES]); int chooseNextEventFromTransitionTablee (int currentState); void setTable (int value, int table[STATES][STATES]); ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// int main(void) { int i; // for demo purposes: transitionTable[0][0] = 0; transitionTable[0][1] = 20; transitionTable[0][2] = 30; transitionTable[0][3] = 50; transitionTable[0][4] = 0; transitionTable[1][0] = 35; transitionTable[1][1] = 25; transitionTable[1][2] = 20; transitionTable[1][3] = 30; transitionTable[1][4] = 0; transitionTable[2][0] = 70; transitionTable[2][1] = 0; transitionTable[2][2] = 15; transitionTable[2][3] = 0; transitionTable[2][4] = 15; transitionTable[3][0] = 0; transitionTable[3][1] = 25; transitionTable[3][2] = 25; transitionTable[3][3] = 0; transitionTable[3][4] = 50; transitionTable[4][0] = 13; transitionTable[4][1] = 17; transitionTable[4][2] = 22; transitionTable[4][3] = 48; transitionTable[4][4] = 0; int currentState = 0; for (i=0; i<10; i++) { std::cout << currentState << " "; currentState = chooseNextEventFromTransitionTablee(currentState); } return 0; }; ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// ////////////////////////////// // // chooseNextEventFromTransitionTable -- choose the next note. // int chooseNextEventFromTransitionTablee(int currentState) { int targetSum = 0; int sum = 0; int targetNote = 0; int totalevents = 0; int i; currentState = currentState % STATES; // remove any octave value for (i=0; i<STATES; i++) { totalevents += transitionTable[currentState][i]; } targetSum = (int)(randfloat() * totalevents + 0.5); while (targetNote < STATES && sum+transitionTable[currentState][targetNote] < targetSum) { sum += transitionTable[currentState][targetNote]; targetNote++; } return targetNote; } ////////////////////////////// // // randfloat -- returns a random number between 0.0 and 1.0. // double randfloat(void) { return (double)rand()/RAND_MAX; } ////////////////////////////// // // setTable -- set all values in the transition table to the given value. // void setTable(int value, int table[STATES][STATES]) { int i, j; for (i=0; i<STATES; i++) { for (j=0; j<STATES; j++) { table[i][j] = value; } } }

  • problem with iOS 4.2 when user press the list view item to go to UIwebview page and the navigation button disappears on the second visit

    - by seahorse
    My app is a Navigation based application. The main menu contains the list view items. if I clicks one of them, it goes to next view which in this case take me to UIwebview embedded web site. Everything is looking great. I can view the content of web page, the navigation control back button which takes to the main menu if I press it. However, I'm having issue when I try to go back to main menu if i visit that subview the second time. It loads the content of UIwebview web page, but the navigation button is gone and won't let me go back to main menu. This problem only appears on latest iOS 4.2 version. Otherwise it works great on 3.1 to 4.1. I would appreciate any hints or inputs. Note this seems not working for subview using UIWebview embedded web content. I don't have any issue with other subviews

  • titleForHeaderInSection is not updating Section Header information correctly

    - by Jim
    I have two tableviews where one navigates to the next. Both use more or less the same code and use the managedObjectContext and FetchedResultsController design pattern to provide the relevant data for both tables. My problem happens when I navigate from the first to the second tableview and the data has only one Section Header / Row in the tableview. The data will then not update Section Header information. It does when there is more than one row but not if there is only one row. It leaves the information from the first attempt in place. I can confirm the row data is correct so the relevant data should be being passed to the Section Header correctly but it isn't. Has anyone else come across this problem?

  • Is it possible to change the default InputView in MonoTouch?

    - by Pwninstein
    I would like to display a different view than the standard keyboard (a picker control, or a date picker, for example) when a text field becomes first responder (i.e. gets focus). This would be really nice, because currently I'm pushing a custom view which contains my picker control onto the navigation stack where the user chooses an option, and then hits an OK or Cancel button. According to the documentation for UITextField.InputView: Assigning a custom view to this property causes that view to be presented instead. But, It's read only!!! Is there a workaround for this? Do I need to implement a custom UITextField control and somehow override the InputView property? Do I need to call some kind of native function? I'd really love not to have to do either of those things... but if I have to, so be it. Thanks in advance!

  • adding a UITableView programmatically to a UIViewController

    - by Adam
    I'm loading a UIViewController into one of my Nav controller's hierarchies, which will contain some text and some images. At the bottom, I will want to create a expandable and collapsable tableview. First off, is this idea possible? If it is, how do I add it and where do I place the data source and delegate methods? Can I just make a separate subclass of the TableViewController and then add it to my ViewController as a subview?

  • How to know when the user touches the OK button of the last StoreKit alert "Thank you. Your purchase

    - by Walchy
    I have integrated "In App Purchase" in a game to let the user unlock more levels. Everything works fine, but I have a little problem with the last alert "Thank You. Your purchase was successful. [OK]". My program gets informed that the transaction was successfully completed before this last alert pops up and so my game starts running again - then the alert comes up, annoying the user. I would like to wait with my game running until the user touches the "OK" button, but since it is an alert from StoreKit I have no idea when this happens or how I could catch it. I don't want to create another dialog (this time my own, therefor under my control) below the alert, just asking for touching "OK" again - would be a bad user experience. Anybody have any ideas?

  • UIScrollView -> UIView ->UIImageView

    - by RapidM
    Hi everyone, I am trying to create a horizontal UIScrollView with a few images in it. The user should be able to scroll horizontal between all the images. If he holds down the finger the scrolling should stop. I though about making a UIScrollView (320 x 122 px) UIView for the content + really big width UIImageView for the individual images Here is my code: headScrollView = [[UIScrollView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 122)]; [self.view addSubview:headScrollView]; // Dafür einen contentView programmatisch festlegen headContentView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 500, headScrollView.frame.size.height)]; [headContentView setBackgroundColor:[UIColor lightGrayColor]]; [headScrollView addSubview:headContentView]; [headScrollView setContentSize:headContentView.frame.size]; headImageView = [[UIImageView alloc] init]; NSMutableArray *elements = [appDelegate getElements]; for (int i = 0; i < [elements count]; i++) { headImageView.image = [UIImage imageNamed:[[elements objectAtIndex:i] nameOfElement]]; [headContentView addSubview:headImageView]; } But it's not working. There is no image there :-( When I do a NSLOG i get 3 names of the images, so it should work... Any ideas? Thanks!

  • can I store an id value in array of float type ?

    - by srikanth rongali
    I used, for(id value in values) to get the value from an NSArray. Now I want to store it in 2 dimensional float array[][]. When I try to assign the values to array it is giving error:incompatible types in assignment. I tried to cast the value but I got error: pointer value used where a floating point value was expected. I need to store the values in an 2 dimensional array . How can I make it ? Thank You. @implementation fromFileRead1 NSString *fileNameString; int numberOfEnemies, numberOfValues; -(id)init { if( (self = [super init]) ) { NSString *path = @"/Users/sridhar/Desktop/Projects/exampleOnFile2/enemyDetals.txt"; NSString *contentsOfFile = [[NSString alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:path]; NSArray *lines = [contentsOfFile componentsSeparatedByString:@"\n"]; numberOfEnemies = [lines count]; NSLog(@"The number of Lines: %d", numberOfEnemies); for (id line in lines) { NSLog(@"Line %@", line ); NSString *string1 = line; NSArray *split1 = [string1 componentsSeparatedByString:@","]; numberOfValues = [split1 count]; NSLog(@"The number of values in Row: %d", numberOfValues); for (id value in split1) { NSLog(@"value %@", value); float value1; value1 = [split1 objectAtIndex:2]); NSLog(@"VAlue of Value1 at index 2: %f", value1 ); } } } return self; } @end In enemyDetal.txt I have 1,3,3 2,3,2.8 10,2,1.6

  • Breaking One Big Graphic of MutablePaths into CAShapeLayers

    - by StackOverFlowRider
    I have a class called GraphicView that takes a Graphic object and draws it in its drawRect method. This Graphic object is basically an array of mutablePaths that comprise an icon that I want drawn. For performance and other issues, I was thinking of taking this icon that is comprised of mutablePaths, and dividing it into a bunch of CAShapeLayers. I'm wondering is this possible? Considering the points for the mutablePaths of the icon are all interwoven together (ie the icon was initially an SVG file that I converted to code), is it possible to divide different parts of the icon into CAShapeLayers, and reassemble them all together when assigning to the views layer? If so how would it be done? If I assign them as sublayers to a CALayer or CAShapeLayer, will it understand to mesh them all together?

  • How can I take zooming into account when a user touches a UIScrollView?

    - by Bill
    I have a UIImageView inside of a UIScrollView. The parent scroll view allows zooming and panning. When the user taps a point in the scroll view, I want to find the location in the raw image inside the UIImageView - i.e. I want the point after including any zooming and panning the user has done in the scroll view. Right now, I have a UIScrollView subclass called ForwardingScrollView that handles touch events and attempts to convert them into locations in the coordinate system of the child image view. I tried adding contentOffset to these points, tried multiplying them by zoomScale, and even tried doing both. I also tried calling [touch locationInView: self] and [touch locationInView: parent], but none of these methods correctly return the point that I clicked in the underlying image. What's the best way to do this? Thanks in advance.
