windows 7 randomly shuts down. where do I find related log? so that i can identify the error

during the normal use, windows 7 shuts down. sometimes it happened when I start google chrome and few times during system update. after it shuts down, I turn it back on and I get to the screen, where windows asks me if I'd like a safe or normal start. the shutdown happens regardless if i'm on a battery or cord is there a log that can tell me where the error is? it can help me to further identify the solution. my setup: I run windows 7 on thinkpad x201 tablet. i have upgraded hard drive that worked fine for the last 6 months. the system is dual boot with ubuntu. I have installed some software recently, may be that can be the problem but sophos anti-virus cannot find anything. updates are all up to date.

I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 on my computer, but at the end of the installation it gave me an error and it didn't install grub2. For some reason I can't get ATI FGLRX Drivers to support 3D acceleration on Ubuntu 12.04

I have an ATI 5650m and I've had 0 issues with 3D Acceleration in the past. I had to reinstall Ubuntu entirely, and now with the 12.6 drivers I get - One or more tools required for installation cannot be found on the system I can't seem to solve this issue. I installed the FGLRX drivers through the "alternate command line" guide on the Ubuntu Wiki including the instructions for getting 3D support. They seem to install but I get an error with vainfo libva: VA-API version 0.32.0 Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0". libva: va_getDriverName() returns 0 libva: Trying to open /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/fglrx_drv_video.so libva error: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/fglrx_drv_video.so init failed libva: va_openDriver() returns -1 vaInitialize failed with error code -1 (unknown libva error),exit I have tried help here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2014440 It's a bit frustrating as I can do basically nothing without 3D support. I can't use super + direction or super + w or even configure the Unity bar to be 32px. If anyone could help I'd appreciate that.

Has anyone had issues with Google Analyticator authenticating?

I'm using Analyticator on a site and am having an issue. I am getting an error (see below) when I go to authenticate from the settings panel on Analyticator. The structure on this is a bit different and I think that's what is causing it. The website is on a subdomain which is hosted on a different server than the top-level domain. The analytics account on google only has the subdomain listed. Is it possible that the reason for the error is that the primary domain either: A. doesn't have an Analytics account or B. does have an Analytics account but it is not linked to the Analytics account of the subdomain? The page you have requested cannot be displayed. Another site was requesting access to your Google Account, but sent a malformed request. Please contact the site that you were trying to use when you received this message to inform them of the error. A detailed error message follows: The site "http://xxxxx.com" has not been registered.

ec2 instance won't boot!

So I had a server lose connection while updating to 14.04LTS. Foolishly, it ended up getting rebooted, and now I'm here. I disconnected the volume and mounted it on another system, chrooted it, and updated the kernel. Still no dice. Any idea what the problem could be? Thanks in advance! How to get espeak working?

This one was not easy to solve ... Error: The crawler could not communicate with the server. Check that the server is available and that the firewall access is configured. Context: Some pages were not crawled (giving the above error) and, what is worse, all the sub content of that site was not crawled either! (the pages were the homepages of the site) Solution:The pages that could not be crawled due to this error contained a custom web part. This web part used default credentials for a given action. During crawling, the SP_Search account tried to perform this action but did not have the appropriate rights. This gave an error that stopped the crawling for the whole site. Dependency problem while missing package is already installed

I am trying to install a program but I am getting a dependency error. The error clearly points out: Dependency is not satisfiable: libc6-amd64 (>= 2.14) I went on to investigate and I found out that I have 2.19 version installed, actually: alex@MaD-pc:~$ apt-cache policy libc6-amd64 libc6-amd64:i386: Installed: 2.19-0ubuntu6 Candidate: 2.19-0ubuntu6 Version table: *** 2.19-0ubuntu6 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status Why am I getting this error if I already have this package? I also should probably mention that the system is 100% up to date. I run the updates and upgrades, restarted the system and then tried to install the package again with the same error popping up. Edit 1: I am using amd64 but I have installed some 32-bit libraries required by some program installed via wine if I recall correctly.

How can I get my wireless webcam to work?

I recently bought this wireless webcam. I'm having trouble getting it to work on Ubuntu 11.04. I ran lsusb and got the folowing information about the device Bus 006 Device 003: ID 0416:a91a Winbond Electronics Corp. I did a Google serach for teh device ID and this website informs me that it matches the LogiLink Wireless Webcam (so Maplin probably just rebranded this!). What this website states is that this device should work, which it doesn't. The problem I'm facing is that I don't get any actual video being streamed or shown. The built in microphone works and, when running Cheese, when I press the camera button on the webcam itself the software recognises that the button is pressed. On that note, when running cheese from the terminal with this webcam attached I get the following error libv4l2: error getting pixformat: Invalid argument libv4l2: error setting pixformat: Input/output error Any help is appreciated

Apache user owns git project root, with git-http-backend setup, but still having permissions problems

I've setup git-http-backend on my vps server (CentOS), under one of its users. The apache user owns the git project root directory - /home/theuser/git/, as below: drwxrwxr-x 3 apache apache The apache user also owns everything inside that directory. But I'm still getting the following error in git when trying to push: error: unpack failed: unpack-objects abnormal exit The apache error log shows the following error: error: insufficient permission for adding an object to repository database ./objects I've tried every combination of user permissions and enabled read/write access, but not getting anywhere. Should the git user own this folder? Can someone explain exactly what user should own this folder, or what steps I might take to fix this problem?

Why can't I download applications from neither Muon Softwware Center nor Synaptic Package manager? When I try to download an app from my Kubuntu 12.04 LTS softaware center, it tells me that I can't download any app. SAme thing in Synaptic Package manager : I get an error telling that I can't change anything on my system. The only solution I have is to use the cryted file technic, but I just do not like that. From the terminal, I get an error after I downloaded the package that either the package contains an error or that there is an error from this package. Thank you for your time, your answer and your work. This is very important, I have to install an app for my work.

Nameserver Problem

I recently bought a new VPS , and i was trying to set private nameservers in my domain cpanel. I went ahead and added 4 A records ns1.mydomain.com - points to my ip ns2.mydomain.com - points to my ip www.mydomain.com - points to my ip mydomain.com - points to my ip and changed the nameservers to ns1 & ns2.mydomain.com the problem is that now while typing www.ns1.mydomain.com and www.ns2.mydomain.com in browser it points to the correct IP address but the www.mydomain.com is saying an Error The webpage at http://demiracles.com/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. Error 137 (net::ERR_NAME_RESOLUTION_FAILED): Unknown error. Error message in chrome is above. Please help me.

Web master tools is throwing out 404 errors on link not on page

Webmaster tools is showing thousands of 404 errors, where pages on the site are referring to another incorrect url. For example, URL not found www.plantify.co.uk/shop/=, linked from http://www.plantify.co.uk/shop/gift-voucher and http://www.plantify.co.uk/shop/special-plant-offers. I obviously have checked the source and cannot find any references to this link on any page. The only consistent issue is that it only seems to report this error on pages with two section i.e. www.plantify.co.uk/shop does not report any error whilst all pages with www.plantify.co.uk/shop/xxx (where xxx can be several different pages such as gift-voucher) all report this. I cannot seem to duplicate this error. I have run a link checker (we use Screaming Frog) and it does not report this error. I have fetched these pages as a bot, and these do not report this error. I am at a total loss. I cannot even duplicate the issue, but it is most definitely an issue, as Webmaster Tools is reporting new errors every day. Is this perhaps google bot doing its own thing?

I have just installed a fresh copy of 12.04.1 64bit. I formatted my PC completely and enabled updates during the installation. After the installation was complete, I went on updating my software. However, when I wanted to install the additional drivers using the Additional Drivers tool (namely "ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics driver"), it gave me this error: SystemError: E:Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. The same error shows up if I try installing the post-release updates driver. Installing the drivers from the terminal results in this output: XXXXXX:~$ sudo apt-get install fglrx [sudo] password for XXXXX: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Some packages could not be installed. When I use the software center to install something, I get the error: An unhandlable error occured There seems to be a programming error in aptdaemon, the software that allows you to install/remove software and to perform other package management related tasks on using the command line: $sudo apt-get install <something> E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem. I am unable to install anything. How do we fix this?

Windows Network copy and access denied randomly

I have a windows 2008 R2 server and I now installed a new bigger HDD into it. I wanted to copy big AVI files to the new server hdd what is shared on the local network. I have write access to the servers hdd and I can successfully copy smaller files to it. But when I copy bigger files more than 500MB randomly on the copy I get Access Deny message. If I use RDP I can copy files through RDP client. I checked error messages at the server but I didn't found any error about this access deny. Because of RDP copy works I don't think that this could be hardware error. I think this is some kind of software setting error. Someone has faced this kind of error? Or somebody has idea what could cause or how to find the root of the problem?

How can I determine Breaking point of my Web application using JMeter? I have executed the JMeter Testplan with different concurrent users load. EX. 300 users(0% error), 400 users(7% error in a sample, 5% error in another sample), 500 users(more than 10% error in 4 out of 6 samples). At What value of % Error, I can say system reached the Breaking point.I used concurrent users 300, 400, 500 in a PHP website. Should I consider any other parameter to determine breaking point. How many maximum concurrent users my application can support?

The “Lessons Learned” blog has an update covering the error message "The protocol 'net.msmq' is not supported." "The protocol 'net.msmq' is not supported." OMG, a new lesson! Will wonders never cease? So I ran into an interesting issue setting up a WCF service to consume an MSMQ queue. I won't bother you with the details of how to actually build a WCF/MSMQ service; there are plenty of tutorials on the subject. I want to share with you an interesting error that I ran into and the surprisingly simple fix. The error occurs when attempting to generate a Service Reference or even simply browsing to the WSDL of your WCF/MSMQ service in the form of a YSOD with the following error: "The protocol 'net.msmq' is not supported." After a lot of Googling on the subject turning up plenty of questions with the same error but no answers. So I went digging into some application level config files on a server that already had a WCF/MSMQ service successfully set up by the network admin, and the answer was amazingly simple: If you are hosting an MSMQ/WCF service in IIS, you have to tell IIS to allow net.msmq protocol. It's in the advanced settings for the application or site in which you are hosting the service. .... aaaand, that's it.
