  • Checking to see if a generic class is inherited from an interface

    - by SnOrfus
    I've got a class that inherits from an interface. That interface defines an event that I'd like to subscribe to in the calling code. I've tried a couple of things, but they all resolve to false (where I know it's true). How can I check to see if a class implements a specific interface. Here's what I've tried (note, the object in question is a usercontrol that implements MyInterface, stored in an array of controls, only some of which implement MyInterface - it is not null): if (this.controls[index].GetType().IsSubclassOf(typeof(MyInterface))) ((MyInterface)this.controls[index]).Event += this.Handler; if (this.controls[index].GetType().IsAssignableFrom(typeof(MyInterface))) ((MyInterface)this.controls[index]).Event += this.Handler; if (this.controls[index].GetType() == typeof(MyInterface)) ((MyInterface)this.controls[index]).Event += this.Handler; All to no avail.

  • chomsky hierarchy and programming languages

    - by dader51
    Hi, I'm trying to learn some aspects of the CH ( chomsky hierarchy ) which are related to PL ( programming languages ), and i still have to read the Dragon Book. I've read that most of the PL can be parsed as CFG ( context free grammar ). In term of computational power, it equals the one of a pushdown non deterministic automaton. Am I right ? If it's true, then how could a CFG holds a UG ( unrestricted grammar, which is turing complete ) ? I'm asking because, even if PL are CFG they are actually used to describe TM (turing machines ) and through UG. I think that's because of at least two different levels of computing, the first, which is the parsing of a CFG focuses on the syntax related to the structure ( representation ? ) of the language, while the other focuses on the semantic ( sense, interpretation of the data itself ? ) related to the capabilities of the pl which is turing complete. Again, are these assumptions rights ? thanx a lot.

  • What exactly is a "Software Architect"?

    - by Boydski
    I've seen a few posts that briefly touch on the subject but don't address the question directly. So please don't label this as a dup. Having been independant/freelance for 5 years or so, and having also had plenty of exposure to perm positions, I've been exposed to many views on what an "Architect" really is. As a result, I've coined the term, "One man's architect is another man's n00b", as it seems to be perpetually relative. I've interviewed at mom-&-pop shops that didn't think I was worth a hill of beans. I've also interviewed at world-class consulting firms who thought I was incredible. Again, it all seems relative. But what specifically makes a software architect a true "Architect"?

  • Jquery droppable live disabling/enabling

    - by Cameron
    I have a some draggables in a list of droppables (1 draggable per droppable li). When I move a draggable from one droppable to another free droppable, I want to diable the receiving droppable, and enable the droppable it is leaving from. In firebug the droppable class gets removed – but the functionality of the droppable remains. I have a feeling I need to use live() somehow, but could use a leg-up. $(function() { $(".user").draggable({ revert : true, revertDuration : 200 }); $("li.droppable").droppable({ accept : ".user", hoverClass : "drophover", drop: function(event, ui) { var position = this.getAttribute("id").replace("position_", ""), user_id = ui.draggable.attr("id").replace("user_", ""); droppable = this parent = ui.draggable.parent() $.ajax({ url : "users/"+user_id+"", type : "POST", dataType: "JSON", data : ({ "position" : position, "_method" : "PUT" }), success : function() { $(ui.draggable).parent().addClass("droppable"); $(ui.draggable).appendTo(droppable); $(parent).removeClass("droppable"); } }); } }); });

  • Python objects as userdata in ctypes callback functions

    - by flight
    The C function myfunc operates on a larger chunk of data. The results are returned in chunks to a callback function: int myfunc(const char *data, int (*callback)(char *result, void *userdata), void *userdata); Using ctypes, it's no big deal to call myfunc from Python code, and to have the results being returned to a Python callback function. This callback work fine. myfunc = mylib.myfunc myfunc.restype = c_int myfuncFUNCTYPE = CFUNCTYPE(STRING, c_void_p) myfunc.argtypes = [POINTER(c_char), callbackFUNCTYPE, c_void_p] def mycb(result, userdata): print result return True input="A large chunk of data." myfunc(input, myfuncFUNCTYPE(mycb), 0) But, is there any way to give a Python object (say a list) as userdata to the callback function? In order to store away the result chunks, I'd like to do e.g.: def mycb(result, userdata): userdata.append(result) userdata=[] But I have no idea how to cast the Python list to a c_void_p, so that it can be used in the call to myfunc. My current workaround is to implement a linked list as a ctypes structure, which is quite cumbersome.

  • Coupling/Cohesion

    - by user559142
    Hi All, Whilst there are many good examples on this forum that contain examples of coupling and cohesion, I am struggling to apply it to my code fully. I can identify parts in my code that may need changing. Would any Java experts be able to take a look at my code and explain to me what aspects are good and bad. I don't mind changing it myself at all. It's just that many people seem to disagree with each other and I'm finding it hard to actually understand what principles to follow... package familytree; /** * * @author David */ public class Main { /** * @param args the command line arguments */ public static void main(String[] args) { // TODO code application logic here KeyboardInput in = new KeyboardInput(); FamilyTree familyTree = new FamilyTree(in, System.out); familyTree.start(); } } package familytree; import java.io.PrintStream; /** * * @author David */ public class FamilyTree { /** * @param args the command line arguments */ private static final int DISPLAY_FAMILY_MEMBERS = 1; private static final int ADD_FAMILY_MEMBER = 2; private static final int REMOVE_FAMILY_MEMBER = 3; private static final int EDIT_FAMILY_MEMBER = 4; private static final int SAVE_FAMILY_TREE = 5; private static final int LOAD_FAMILY_TREE = 6; private static final int DISPLAY_ANCESTORS = 7; private static final int DISPLAY_DESCENDANTS = 8; private static final int QUIT = 9; private KeyboardInput in; private Family family; private PrintStream out; public FamilyTree(KeyboardInput in, PrintStream out) { this.in = in; this.out = out; family = new Family(); } public void start() { out.println("\nWelcome to the Family Tree Builder"); //enterUserDetails(); initialise(); while (true) { displayFamilyTreeMenu(); out.print("\nEnter Choice: "); int option = in.readInteger(); if (option > 0 && option <= 8) { if (quit(option)) { break; } executeOption(option); } else { out.println("Invalid Choice!"); } } } //good private void displayFamilyTreeMenu() { out.println("\nFamily Tree Menu"); out.println(DISPLAY_FAMILY_MEMBERS + ". • asynchronous javascript loading/executing

    - by Kai
    In this post, asynchronous .js file loading syntax, someone said, "If the async attribute is present, then the script will be executed asynchronously, as soon as it is available." (function() { var d=document, h=d.getElementsByTagName('head')[0], s=d.createElement('script'); s.type='text/javascript'; s.async=true; s.src='/js/myfile.js'; h.appendChild(s); }()); /* note ending parenthesis and curly brace */ My question is, what does "the script will be executed asynchronously" mean? Will this script be executed in a different thread from other javascripts in the page? If yes, should we worry about synchronization issue in the two threads? Thanks.

  • Using an array as parameter to a class.

    - by Gabriel A. Zorrilla
    I have created an array Man: public main blah blah{ man = man[10]; } Man has fields such as Man.name; Man.age; ... In Man class, there is a OnClick method that opens a new window showing its name and age. public Man(){ Onclick(){ InfoWindow showinfo = new InfoWindow(this.getid()) // If this is Man[2] the id would be 2. } And in InfoWindow class: public class InfoWindow extends JFrame{ public InfoWindow(Man selectedMan){ setSize(300, 200); JLabel info = new JLabel(selectedMan.getname()); add(info); info.setVisible(true); } } Basically, that's wanna acomplish (show in pseudocode), pass a Man[i] into a class that when a window is created, shows the info related to that man. This is how i'm actualy trying to implement it but it's not working, i'm pretty sure there is a misconception from me in some part. Any help?

  • Web service creates stack overflow

    - by mouthpiec
    I have an application that when executed as a windows application works fine, but when converted to a web service, in some instances (which were tested successfully) by the windows app) creates a stack overflow. Do you have an idea of what can cause this? (Note that it works fine when the web service is placed on the localhost). Could it be that the stack size of a Web Service is smaller than that of a Window Application? UPDATE The below is the code in which I am getting a stack overflow error private bool CheckifPixelsNeighbour(Pixel c1, Pixel c2, int DistanceAllowed) { bool Neighbour = false; if ((Math.Abs(c1.X - c2.X) <= DistanceAllowed) && Math.Abs(c1.Y - c2.Y) <= DistanceAllowed) { Neighbour = true; } return Neighbour; }

  • How to get access to a window that is loaded into a panel

    - by Sandor Drieënhuizen
    I'm loading an external script (that creates a new window component) into a panel, which works fine. Now, I want to access the created window from a callback function to register a closed event handler. I've tried the following: panel.load({ scripts: true, url: '/createWindow', callback: function(el, success, response, options) { panel.findByType("window")[0].on("close", function { alert("Closed"); }); } }); However, the panel seems to be empty all the time, the findByType method keeps returning an empty collection. I've tried adding events handlers for events like added to the panel but none of them got fired. So the question is: how do I access the window in the panel to register my close event handler on it?

  • How do I make the "change order" button appear in SharePoint 2010?

    - by Jan Aagaard
    How do I make the "change order" button appear in SharePoint 2010? I have followed a guide that allowed me to add OrderedList="TRUE" to my list template. This makes it possible to select "Allow users to order items in this view" for my view. But the change order button is still missing. Any idears on what I am missing? I am using SharePoint 2010 and the guide is from 2006, so that might explain why it doesn't just work. The guide from tech-archive.net.

  • ASP.Net MVC2 Client and Server Validation sharing the same code - is it possible?

    - by RemotecUk
    With the excellent XVal by Steve Sanderson, it is possible to tell the client side validation to post the value being validated to the server using jquery. A method on the server then uses the same server side code you use for your server side validation, and returns simply a true or false to determine if the field is valid. The advantage of this method is that you write your complex validation logic once in C# code and then put some JQuery plumbing in to tell your client page where to go to access your server validation. I have been reading some blogs on MVC2 but no one seems to mention this functionality. Is it possible to tell the Microsoft MVC validation javascript to call a url validate data? Or do you have to write your own client side validation routines. I should note that using the xVal method a custom validation to say if an email address is in use or not can be run from the client via a JQuery post which accesses the server side validation logic.

  • WCF Integration Facility and Self-Hosted Services

    - by IanT8
    I'm self-hosting several services where I do this to register the service: host = new ServiceHost(typeof(MyService)); host.Open(); Behind the scenes, wcf instantiates my service via the default constructor. Is it possble to use the WCF Integration Facility of Castle Windsor to get WCF to call on Windsor to create the service when I am self-hosting? The example seems shows IIS hosted services where the 1st line of the MyService.svc file looks like: <%@ServiceHost language=c# Debug="true" Service="Microsoft.ServiceModel.Samples.CalculatorService" Factory=WindsorServiceHostFactory%> where presumably a factory is used by wcf to instantiate the service instance.

  • extjs - center a formPanel on a normal panel

    - by Ben
    Hi there, I'm using extjs and just trying to solve a simple problem: I have a form with a fixed width. I want to Center this form within a normal Ext.Panel. I'm trying to achieve this the 'css-way' - setting the left and right margin to 'auto'. But this doesn' work, it seems the margins are just ignored. The Code: var curStateForm = new Ext.FormPanel({ title:'test', width:300, bodyStyle:'margin:5px auto 0 auto', items: [edIst, edAdjust, edSumme] }); var testPanel = new Ext.Panel({ width: '100%', frame:true, items:[curStateForm] }); Thx to all!

  • ScrollView alawys scrolling to the bottom

    - by Sebi
    I defined a scrollview with a texteedit in my layout: <ScrollView android:fillViewport="true" android:layout_marginBottom="50dip" android:id="@+id/start_scroller" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:fadingEdge="none"> <TextView android:id="@+id/text" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="wrap_content" > </TextView> </ScrollView> I add text to this ScrollView with the following method: public void writeToLogView(String textMsg) { if (text.getText().equals("")) { text.append(textMsg); } else { text.append("\n" + textMsg); scroller.scrollBy(0, 1000000); } } As you can see i append the text and try to scroll to the bottom of the ScrollView. Unfortunately this doesn't worked correctly. It scrolls down, but not always, and not always to the bottom. Any hints?

  • WPF Show Open TabItem Names in a List View

    - by mr justinator
    I'm trying to display a list of open tab names in a listview or listbox (recommendations?). Been going through the different type of binding options and I'm able to bind to a single tab name but it displays vertical instead of horizontal. Here is my XAML: <ListView DockPanel.Dock="Left" Height="352" Name="listView1" Width="132" ItemsSource="{Binding ElementName=RulesTab, Path=Name}" IsSynchronizedWithCurrentItem="True" FlowDirection="LeftToRight" HorizontalAlignment="Left" HorizontalContentAlignment="Left" DataContext="{Binding}"> Any pointers would be greatly appreciated as I'd like to be able to see a list of all the tabs open and then double click on one to bring the tab into focus. Many thanks!

  • DataGrid rendering fails

    - by patryk.beza
    I have DataGrid with groups of data. The problem is that after binding data I have strange effect (text was blured by me; the problem are cells' paddings/margins). This effect can be easily 'fixed' by user because after one click on top expander data hides and after second click on the expander, rows in DataGrid are displayed correctly. My XAML code: <DataGrid Name="myDataGrid" Grid.Row="0" ItemsSource="{Binding}" AutoGenerateColumns="False" Background="White" RowBackground="#FBFFFA" AlternatingRowBackground="#EEFAEB" VerticalAlignment="Stretch" HorizontalAlignment="Stretch"> <DataGrid.Columns> <!-- Columns definitions with binding ( . . . ) --> </DataGrid.Columns> <DataGrid.CellStyle> <Style TargetType="{x:Type DataGridCell}"> <Setter Property="Padding" Value="7,3"/> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type DataGridCell}"> <Border Padding="{TemplateBinding Padding}" BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}" BorderThickness="{TemplateBinding BorderThickness}" Background="{TemplateBinding Background}" SnapsToDevicePixels="True"> <ContentPresenter SnapsToDevicePixels="{TemplateBinding SnapsToDevicePixels}" VerticalAlignment="Center" /> </Border> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> <Style.Triggers> <Trigger Property="DataGridCell.IsSelected" Value="True"> <Setter Property="Background"> <Setter.Value> <LinearGradientBrush EndPoint="0.504,1.5" StartPoint="0.504,0.03"> <GradientStop Color="#008C13" Offset="0"/> <GradientStop Color="#19FF38" Offset="0.8"/> </LinearGradientBrush> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Trigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style> </DataGrid.CellStyle> <DataGrid.GroupStyle> <GroupStyle> <GroupStyle.HeaderTemplate> <DataTemplate> <StackPanel> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=Name}" FontWeight="Bold" Padding="3" /> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </GroupStyle.HeaderTemplate> <GroupStyle.ContainerStyle> <Style TargetType="{x:Type GroupItem}"> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type GroupItem}"> <Expander> <Expander.Header> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <TextBlock Text="Rok " /> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Name}" /> </StackPanel> </Expander.Header> <ItemsPresenter /> </Expander> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> </GroupStyle.ContainerStyle> </GroupStyle> </DataGrid.GroupStyle> </DataGrid> DataGrid's DataContext is set from code (rows with data in DataGrid are displayed after clicking proper button): ICollectionView myView = CollectionViewSource.GetDefaultView(myList); if (operationsView.GroupDescriptions.Count > 0) operationsView.GroupDescriptions.Clear(); operationsView.GroupDescriptions.Add(new PropertyGroupDescription("myGroupDescProperty")); FinancialIncomeOperationsListDataGrid.DataContext = operationsView; Is there any way to manually update layout of the DataGrid? Or maybe there is a better solution?

  • Clean stop of Python bottle webserver when started from subprocess

    - by luc
    Hello all, I would like to embed the great Bottle web framework into a small application (1st target is Windows OS). This app starts the bottle webserver thanks to the subprocess module. import subprocess p = subprocess.Popen('python websrv.py') The bottle app is quite simple @route("/") def index(): return template('index') run(reloader=True) It starts the default webserver into a Windows console. All seems Ok except the fact that I must press Ctrl-C to close the bottle webserver. I would like that the master app terminates the webserver when it shutdowns. I can't find a way to do that (p.terminate() doesn't work in this case unfortunately) Any idea? Thanks in advance

    I can't understand what's not working here: 1) settings MEDIA_ROOT = '/var/www/satel/media' MEDIA_URL = 'http://media.satel.culebron' ADMIN_MEDIA_PREFIX = '/media/' 2) models class Photo(models.Model): id = models.AutoField(primary_key=True) name = models.CharField(max_length = 200) desc = models.TextField(max_length = 1000) img = models.ImageField(upload_to = 'upload') 3) access rights: drwxr-xrwx 3 culebron culebron 4.0K 2010-04-14 21:13 media drwxr-xrwx 2 culebron culebron 4.0K 2010-04-14 19:04 upload 4) SQL: CREATE TABLE "photos_photo" ( "id" integer NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY, "name" varchar(200) NOT NULL, "desc" text NOT NULL, "img" varchar(100) NOT NULL ); 4) run Django test server as myself. 5) result: SuspiciousOperation at /admin/photos/author/add/ Attempted access to '/var/www/satel/upload/OpenStreetMap.png' denied. Not a PIL & jpeg issue, seems not to be access rights issue. But what's wrong?
