  • Ubuntu + Raid on HP proliant DL 160 G6

    Hi, I'm, trying to install Ubuntu 8.04 Server on an HP Proliant DL160 G6. The HP hardware is certified by Ubuntu for the 9.04 version, which I can't install due to company policy. The problem is that Ubuntu would not recognize the RAID 1+0 disk configured by the BIOS. The raid creates one ~470GB disk from two 500GB physical disks. Any ideas? Adam

  • Firewire hard drive with Leopard install image won't boot from PPC Mac Mini

    I have a Mac Mini (G4 - 1.25 GHz PowerPC) running osx 10.3.9. I want to upgrade it to 10.5 (Leopard). The problem is that I only have a CD and no DVD. After working through all of these issues, I got myself a firewire hard drive and both a 10.4 and 10.5 image that I could image on to the hard drive. I was able to successfully boot off the firewire drive with the 10.4 image. However, I am not able to boot off the firewire drive with the 10.5 image. When trying to boot under the 10.5 image I specify the firewire drive as the startup drive. However, it just boots to the internal (10.3) drive. Any idea why it won't boot to the 10.5 image?

  • Local Flash in Chrome pepper player won't link to internet

    I have a local .swf file in a local .html file. The flash file opens a popup window when a link is clicked. In Chrome, when I open the html file and click the button, nothing happens. Then when I go to about:plugins and disable the top Flash player (the pepper one) then try refresh and try clicking the button again, nothing happens. Then when I go to http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.html and add the the folder the files are stored in to the list and refresh the page and click the button again, it opens the popup. When I re-enable the pepper flash player, and re-add the folder to the allowed list in flash (it's gone from the list now that I changed players), refresh the page and click the button again, it does nothing. I don't know why it won't open with the pepper player. I'm using Windows 7, Chrome 22.0.1229.94 m, Pepper Flash player 11.4.31.110, and regular Flash Player 11,4,402,287.

  • Microsoft Expression Blend 3 - Show / Hide a popup

    Hi, I'm using this for the very first time to do some quick prototyping (using sketchflow). I have a simple dialog window that I want to show when a button it pressed and then hide when a button (in the dialog, like an "OK" button) is pressed. If someone could just point me in the direction of a simple tutorial on how to do this I'd be happy, or even if you have a simple example you can post here that would be great (I've been trying to google this forever!). I can tell you what I have tried (although obviously it doesn't work) Created a user control, called it "MyDialog". That user control is a simple box which is the bit of gui I want to overlay when the user clicks a button. In that user control I gave it two states "Show" and "Hide". The "Hide" state has all visability to the elements in this user control set to none and "Show" shows everything Created a button in my main screen. That button I gave a it a behaviour "ActivateStateAction". In the properties of that behaviour I set the TargetScreen to be "MyDialog" and the TargetState to be "Show". (I also set the target screen to be MyprojectName.MyProjectNameScreens.MyDialog, that doesn't work either)

  • Shared secret length limit on OSX VPN client

    I'm trying to setup the built-in VPN client with OS X. The settings I'm using (IPsec GW, shared secret, etc...) work flawlessly using other clients (IPsecuritas, vpnc, etc...) but isn't working with the built-in client. The error I get is: Wrong shared secret (not the exact message, since OS X is localized) The shared secret is 128 chars long so I'm wondering if it's hitting a length limit. I would like to know if that's true, and if so, how I could overcome it?

  • osx split external hard drive partition

    Hi, I currently have a 640GB external HD that has 1 partition formatted as HSF+ Now I want to split some of the free space into a new FAT32 partition, without having to reformat the whole HD and losing all my data. I read that I'm supposed to be able to add new partitions in the Hard Disc Utility by clicking the "+" sign, without any loss of data. But in my case the "+" is not clickable and it says that this partition cannot be altered. Can anyone tell me how to proceed. Or is it impossible without reformatting the whole disc? Thanks ps: I'm running osx snow leopard 10.6.6

  • Ubuntu 11.04 VM shows a black screen in VMware Player

    I have a Ubuntu Server 11.04 64 bit VM running on VMware Player 3.1.4 that only shows a black screen. No matter what I try, the screen remains black. The VM has worked the first time. When I reset the machine, it shows the VMware loader and a flickering _ for about a second. Then the screen turns black again. VM settings: Memory: 512MB Processors: 1 HD: 20GB CD: auto detect Floppy: auto detect Network adapter: NAT USB controller: present soundcard: auto detect printer: present display: auto detect I just created a fresh VM and the same happens, so it seems that the problem is consistent.

    Hello. I'm playing a little bit with the new StackOverflow API. Unfortunately, my JSON is a bit weak, so I need some help. I'm trying to deserialize this JSON of a User: {"user":{ "user_id": 1, "user_type": "moderator", "creation_date": 1217514151, "display_name": "Jeff Atwood", ... "accept_rate": 100 }} into an object which I've decorated with JsonProperty attributes: [JsonObject(MemberSerialization.OptIn)] public class User { [JsonProperty("user_id", Required = Required.Always)] public virtual long UserId { get; set; } [JsonProperty("display_name", Required = Required.Always)] public virtual string Name { get; set; } ... } I get the following exception: Newtonsoft.Json.JsonSerializationException: Required property 'user_id' not found in JSON. Is this because the JSON object is an array? If so, how can I deserialize it to the one User object? Thanks in advance!

  • Using pfSense, OpenVPN Connects but Still Can't See the Network

    I am having an OpenVPN issue. I have a pfSense box at home configured to allow traffic through a VPN tunnel. The client computer is Windows XP Home, behind a standard Comcast connection and a Netgear wireless router. I use OpenVPN to access my work network (from where I am trying to get out of in this post) from home (with an XP Pro machine behind pfSense), and this works fine. The client config is similar but has the changes specific to my setup... Here is my XP Home config: client dev tun proto tcp remote pfsense.*.org 1194 (starred out by me) resolv-retry infinite nobind persist-key persist-tun ca ca.crt cert client.crt key client.key ns-cert-type server comp-lzo verb 3 When I launch the OpenVPN GUI, the Tunnel TAP network connection turns red, and I can right-click that to connect to the server. Everything seems to work fine until I browse for the actual network. The Tunnel TAP connection turns green and it says connected to 10.1.1.6 (I have tried different IP pools here too with no luck). I can see the internal network fine, but my home network behind pfSense is not there. I have tried browsing there by using Tools Map Network Drive, using the browser, with no success. Could this be my problem? I am still relatively new to firewalls, VPN, and network configuration so I'm sure I am messing up something simple. Oh yah, I should note that I have firewall rules configured for pfSense to allow traffic through the WAN and the LAN. At first there was just the WAN firewall rule, because that is what I got from the literature I was reading. I then created a LAN rule as well, but I'm not sure if this was correct. I right-click and go "format" but nothing happens. So I try in command. > format f: Insert new disk for drive F: and press ENTER when ready... Error in IOCTL call. What does this mean?

Is there a way to get the definition or even better the location of the definition of these functions without tracking them down through 5 levels of includes?

  • When I use SharePoint's export to spreadsheet (Excel), not all the columns appear

    We have several SharePoint (MOSS) lists with 100's of items so we use 'export to spreadsheet' to do the heavy editing. But, in the spreadsheet not all of the list columns appear. One example is all columns of the 'publishing HTML' type cannot be edited (or even seen) in either Excel 2003 or the web datasheet view. But, an SSIS can export/import these columns without issue. Is there a way to use Excel 2003/2007 or Access 03/07 to edit these columns. Is there another way to connect to these columns?

  • Intel 1.83 Mac Mini upgraded to 1.5 gig for Snow Leopard

    Even though I've upgraded countless video cards, RAM, harddrives, motherboards in PCs... this will be my first mac mini RAM upgrade. I've watched the classic "putty knife" video. (Absurd method... but I guess it's what I'm stuck with.) I have a 1.83 Intel-based Mac Mini from 2007-2008, with 1 gig of RAM. (Two 512 sticks) Can I install 1 gig + 512 ? (Or do I have to throw away my existing sticks and buy two 1 gig sticks?) This old machine is rarely used... so I want to spend the absolute minimum on this RAM upgrade. We ONLY use it to run xCode... nothing more. But wanted to increase the RAM so we can install Snow Leopard. I have no idea how many pins the memory has. I printed out over FORTY pages of specs about this machine from "About this Mac"... but didn't find what I needed. Does this sound right: DDR2 SDRAM (but no mention of SO-DIMM) 667MHZ (but don't know if I can use faster also) Pin count: Unknown Computer model number: Unknown (But I "think" it's an MB138/A) PC2 RAM (unknown... not mentioned) 5300 (unknown... not mentioned) Mfg date: (unknown... not mentioned) Number of slots: (unknown... not mentioned) Laptop or desktop RAM: (unknown... not mentioned)

  • Howto make a diff of a bios or backup/ restore all bios settings

    Hi, I'm using an Dell M90 Precision Laptop which has a NVidia Quadro FX 2500M graphics card and is running Windows XP. Laptop has been running fine - but a few weeks ago screen went 'white' - restarted computer- bios and startup screens show weird green dots and stripes, normal startup only shows a black screen... only VGA mode works to display something. I've been trying to remove and reinstall the correct drivers downloaded from Dell's website - no solution. I gave up and reinstalled XP - everything was working perfect again. 2 weeks later - again the white screen - tried everything again (flashin new bios also - nothing works) Reinstalled XP - everyhting was working again, so I made a DriveSnapShot of the partition. Today - again the 'white screen'. Ok, no problem ...I was thinking all I needed to do was to restore the DriveSnapShot backup... Few minutes later the backup is restored ... but guess what: video driver does not work correctly... As the DriveSnapShot restored the complete partition, as it was at the time everything was working perfectly, this would mean my driver problems are due to 'settings' in the bios or on the graphics-card itself + these 'settings' can get overridden by doing a new XP-install.... I'm out of options, can somebody help me to find a solution for this problem: Is there some way to backup and restore a bios after seeing some problems? Is there some way to know what is causing this problem like a bios diff utility? Thanks!

    I was looking for root kits following these instructions http://computersight.com/software/how-to-manually-remove-rootkit/ and saw this in my boot log: Loaded driver \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\awhk9fmc.SYS I tried to search for that filename in Google but there was absolutely nothing found. I tried to look at the file on the disk but could not find it. Nearly every other file is there. I even tried to boot in Windows 98 and mount the NTFS and see the file, but it still wasn't there. I ran a full scan with Microsoft Security Essentials but it found nothing. When I rebooted, I saw this line instead: Loaded driver \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\a6n163gl.SYS How can I remove this? How can I find out what it does? How can I find out when it was put in? How can I find out who wrote it?   • Teamviewer: cannot control monitor 1, but can control monitor 2

    I'm using the web client of Teamviewer from my work computer trying to control my home computer. I have 2 monitors on the remote desktop, but for some reason only have control on the second monitor. When I switch to the main monitor (monitor 1), I cannot do anything and cannot even move the cursor. But I have no issues when I switch over to the second monitor (monitor 2). I used to have no issues with either, but in the past couple of months this has been causing me issues. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks!! Also... Here is the log from the Teamviewer session. Showing me switching back and forth between the monitors. (just in case this will help).   • Weird Apache error - Apache hangs & needs restarting regularly

    I've been recently receiving this weird error where Apache just becomes unresponsive and completely stops until it is manually restarted. It gets to a point where I can not longer retrieve apache status from cPanel, and all websites running apache just hang on "connecting" until it times out. Has anyone else received this problem? This is a screenshot of my top when this weird problem occurs, usually the top has all httpd and php processes. Thanks for your help

  • How do I fix VMware “Unidentified Networks” in Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1?

    I have recently installed VMware Workstation 7 onto Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1 and both VMnet1 and VMnet8 appeared as "Unidentified Networks". I have tried editing HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E972-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}, a tip provided by Mathews (Jul 23, 2009) but both virtual NICs still appeared as "Unidentified Networks". I will need both NICs to be listed as "Work" or "Private" and with Internet Access. What other solutions/workarounds? Thanks!
