  • Cisco 1242 WAP Bridging

    - by DanWake
I'm looking to connect two facilities with a a pair of Cisco 1242 access points and am looking for advice on configuration. We have multiple VLANs running that will need to be passed through the connection, but otherwise a fairly simple setup. Any advice on best practices from security, reliability, and speed points of views?

  • Configure a File Type Item through GPO for a Win2008 R2 Terminal server

    - by user40021
Hello, I try to configure a file-type item for .axd filetype. There I have troubles with the associated class for this file-type. E.g. I have tried it with "XML-document" (xml-informations are included at the files with .axd) but it does not work. The .axd file will not be opened with the associated application. Any ideas how to solve this? Many thanks in advance Best regards Chris

  • Backup system, two locations. Recommendations?

    - by Ragnar123
Hi there, I have two servers running Ubuntu 10.10, placed at two different locations. One is production, and one development. I wondered, if any of you had experience with backing up, best practices and alike. I think a smart solution would be to backup the data on the production server to the development server. Also, I have looked into visualization, but it seems like an overkill, assuming the servers only server about 8 users in a small company.

  • How can I crop every page of a large PDF file?

    - by Andrew
I have a 1300 page PDF file of a scanned book that was unfortunately not cropped when scanned. The actual book page dimensions are around 6x9", but each scanned page is 8.5x11", the size of the scanner bed. For much smaller PDF files I could throw it into Photoshop and crop the page, but this is a huge file. What is the best way to losslessly crop all of the pages of the file, in either Windows or OS X?

  • Port-forwarding HTTPS web server

    - by James Moore
I have port forwarded our front-facing IP to an internal HTTPS server. The browser does not connect. A wget command determines that the certificate is self-signed for the internal IP. Hence why the browser is refusing to display the page properly. What is the best-practice scenario for this sort of stuff? Thanks

  • How to find a folder on Mac OS X 10.5?

    - by user246114
I'm on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard). What's the best way to find a folder for which I'm not sure of the full name? For example, I know the folder name I want is like: "farm-animal-type" But the full name may be something like: "farm-animal-type-horse" On Windows, I would just use the find tool through Windows Explorer.

  • Migrating Windows Server 2003 installation to new hardware

    - by Alex
I have a Windows 2003 Server that I want to migrate to new hardware. All the setup and configuration was done by my predecessor. Right now I'm in a real time crunch and I just want to copy all the files and settings to the new machine. Is there an easy way to do this or do I need to manually copy all the files and add all the settings? Microsoft KB suggests "Automated System Recovery", is this the best way forward?

  • Local or public NTP servers?

    - by BeeOnRope
For a relatively large network (thousands of hosts) - what are the arguments for and against running a locally managed (pool of) NTP server(s) (perhaps periodically set via some public NTP server) and having all other hosts on the network use that (pool of) NTP server(s) versus having all hosts simply use public NTP servers directly, say via ntp.pool.org? Aside from the pros and cons, What is typical best practice today?

  • Libboost 1.38.0 on Ubuntu 11.04 Natty

    - by scjosh
I have a Linux/Ubuntu DLL that depends on libboost_thread-mt.so.1.38.0 (As shown in the picture below). I've tried various ways including building my own version of LibBoost 1.38.0 yet none of my methods have worked. I was wondering if 1.38.0 is available precompiled on earlier versions of Ubuntu or if my architecture (64 Bit) is not compatible with LibBoost. Any pointers on how to fix this error are greatly appreciated. http://joshua-ferrara.com/imgoid/images/1332518188.png Best Regards, Josh

  • Does the powershell cmdlet add to or replace out-of-office settings in Exchange 2007?

    - by boost
When using Powershell to set Out-of-Office in Exchange 2007 (e.g.), do multiple commands containing -StartTime and -EndTime add to some internal list that Exchange maintains or does each successive command replace the previous command? For example we have a staffer who is only in the office Tuesdays and Fridays. We'd like to set up Exchange to send an Out-of-Office message to all internal senders on those days when he's not in. How is this best done?

Hello, which is the best way to allow a new user that I just created on ubuntu linux 9.04 to execute a script that requires some sudo without allowing him to the sudoers?
