• PyQt4: Hide widget and resize window

  Hi everyone: I'm working with several widgets but the solution just won't come out. What I have is a series of buttons in series of QHBoxLayouts. Some buttons are hidden by default, but they will appear when needed. To solve space issues, all buttons have a minimum and maximum size so they always look well packed. Also I have a QTextEdit, visible by default, which is in a QVBoxLayout with the QHBoxLayout that hold the buttons So the problem is this: When I hide the QTextEdit and show the other buttons, the window won't resize. After searching I found that using self.ui.layout().setSizeConstraint(QtGui.QLayout.SetFixedSize) will do the trick, but the problem is that it takes the maximum size from all widgets, therefore I end a huge window. Doing self.ui.layout().setSizeConstraint(QtGui.QLayout.SetMinAndMaxSize) won't resize the window I already tried using self.ui.resize(0,0), and when doing a self.ui.layout().update() I got False (which I find odd, http://doc.trolltech.com/4.6/qlayout.html#activate), and also tried to override sizeHint() but it keeps using the max size for all widgets. Is there a way to resize the window and while taking care of the min and max size of a widget? Thanks in advance

• Issue with getting 2 chars from string using indexer

  I am facing an issue in reading char values. See my program below. I want to evaluate an infix expression. As you can see I want to read '10' , '*', '20' and then use them...but if I use string indexer s[0] will be '1' and not '10' and hence I am not able to get the expected result. Can you guys suggest me something? • Can't get SFTP to work in PHP

  I am writing a simple SFTP client in PHP because we have the need to programatically retrieve files via n remote servers. I am using the PECL SSH2 extension. I have run up against a road block, though. "\n"; } } closedir($handle); } I get the following error: PHP Warning: opendir(): Unable to open ssh2.sftp://Resource id #5/outgoing on remote host This makes perfect sense because that's what happens when you cast a resource to string. Is the documentation wrong? I tried replacing the resource with host, username, and host and that didn't work either. I know the path is correct because I can run SFTP from the command line and it works fine. Has anyone else tried to use the SSH2 extenstion with SFTP? Am I missing something obvious here? UPDATE: I setup sftp on another machine in-house and it works just fine. So, there must be something about the server I am trying to connect to that isn't working.

  I am trying to use twitter bootstrap to get the manufacturers from my DB. Because twitter bootstrap typeahead does not support ajax calls I am using this fork: https://gist.github.com/1866577 In that page there is this comment that mentions how to do exactly what I want to do. The problem is when I run my code I keep on getting: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method 'toLowerCase' of undefined I googled around and came tried changing my jquery file to both using the minified and non minified as well as the one hosted on google code and I kept getting the same error. • Capture *all* display-characters in JavaScript?

  I was given an unusual request recently that I'm having the most difficult time addressing that involves capturing all display-characters when typed into a text box. The set up is as follows: I have a text box that has a maxlength of 10 characters. When the user attempts to type more than 10 characters, I need to notify the user that they're typing beyond the character count limit. The simplest solution would be to specify a maxlength of 11, test the length on every keyup, and truncate back down to 10 characters but this solution seems a bit kludgy. What I'd prefer to do is capture the character before keyup and, depending on whether or not it is a display-character, present the notification to the user and prevent the default action. A white-list would be challenging since we handle a lot of international data. I've played around with every combination of keydown, keypress, and keyup, reading event.keyCode, event.charCode, and event.which, but I can't find a single combination that works across all browsers. • Quick help refactoring Ruby Class

  I've written this class that returns feed updates, but am thinking it can be further improved. It's not glitchy or anything, but as a new ruby developer, I reckon it's always good to improve :-) class FeedManager attr_accessor :feed_object, :update, :new_entries require 'feedtosis' def initialize(feed_url) @feed_object = Feedtosis::Client.new(feed_url) fetch end def fetch @feed_object.fetch end def update @updates = fetch end def updated? @updates.new_entries.count > 0 ? true : false end def new_entries @updates.new_entries end end As you can see, it's quite simple, but the things I'm seeing that aren't quite right are: Whenever I call fetch via terminal, it prints a list with the updates, when it's really supposed return an object. So as an example, in the terminal if I do something like: client = Feedtosis::Client.new('http://stackoverflow.com/feeds') result = client.fetch I then get: <Curl::Easy http://stackoverflow.com/feeds> Which is exactly what I'd expect. However, when doing the same thing with "inniting" class with: FeedManager.new("http://stackoverflow.com/feeds") I'm getting the object returning as an array with all the items on the feed. Sure I'm doing something wrong, so any help refactoring this class will he greatly appreciated. Also, I'd like to see comments about my implementation, as well as any sort of comment to make it better would be welcome. Thanks in advance

• Django form linking 2 models by many to many field.

  I have two models: class Actor(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=30, unique = True) event = models.ManyToManyField(Event, blank=True, null=True) class Event(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=30, unique = True) long_description = models.TextField(blank=True, null=True) I want to create a form that allows me to identify the link between the two models when I add a new entry. This works: class ActorForm(forms.ModelForm): class Meta: model = Actor The form includes both name and event, allowing me to create a new Actor and simultaneous link it to an existing Event. On the flipside, class EventForm(forms.ModelForm): class Meta: model = Event This form does not include an actor association. So I am only able to create a new Event. I can't simultaneously link it to an existing Actor. I tried to create an inline formset: EventFormSet = forms.models.inlineformset_factory(Event, Actor, can_delete = False, extra = 2, form = ActorForm) but I get an error <'class ctg.dtb.models.Actor'> has no ForeignKey to <'class ctg.dtb.models.Event'> This isn't too surprising. The inlineformset worked for another set of models I had, but this is a different example. I think I'm going about it entirely wrong. Overall question: How can I create a form that allows me to create a new Event and link it to an existing Actor?

• How to disable the drop down function of combo box on certain conditions?

  Hi, I have a combo box in my application. I also have a variable called "Status". I want the combo box to be enabled only when the value of the Status variable is 5 or 6. Otherwise, I should not be able to change the value in the combo box. It should have the previous value only.. I had written a click event to disable the combo box. But even though the combo box is disabled, I get the drop down list of the combo box, and If I select some othe value in the drop down,it changes..Only after that it gets disabled.. How to avoid this? I want the drop down function itself to be disabled. This is the code I have written. • can't commit or rollback, MySQL out of sync error on .net

• jQuery dialog breaking after closing - I'm using dialog destroy

  I've got a few demo videos I've been making as tutorials, and I'm using a link to open a dialog box and put the demo video in that box. I use the same div to show other notes on the page when a user selects to view a complete note. The code I use to show the notes is jQuery('span.Notes').live('click', function(){ var note=jQuery(this).data('note'); jQuery('div#showNote').text(note); jQuery('div#showNote').append(''); jQuery('div#showNote').dialog({ modal: true, close: function(){ jQuery('div#showNote').dialog('destroy').empty(); } }); }); The code I use for the demo videos is VERY similar. jQuery('a.demoVid').click(function(){ var videoUrl=jQuery(this).attr('href'); jQuery('div#showNote').dialog({ modal: true, height: 400, width: 480, close: function(){ jQuery('div#showNote').dialog('destroy').empty(); } }); swfobject.embedSWF(videoUrl,'showNote','480','390','8.0.0'); return false; }); I can click on as many notes as I want, and the dialog opens up and shows the note. However, when I click the demoVid, the dialog opens, but then closing the dialog kills any other 'showNote' dialogs on the page, so I can't open any more notes, or demo videos.

And the documentation http://www.gtk.org/api/2.6/glib/glib-IO-Channels.html, said I only need to include , which I did. Can you please tell me how to resolve my error? One thing I can think of is I am doing this in a cpp file. But g_io_add_watch is a c function? Thank you for any help. I have spent hours on this but did not get anywhere.

• Replicating SQL's 'Join' in Python

  I'm in the process of trying to switch from R to Python (mainly issues around general flexibility). With Numpy, matplotlib and ipython, I've am able to cover all my use cases save for merging 'datasets'. I would like to simulate SQL's join by clause (inner, outer, full) purely in python. R handles this with the 'merge' function. I've tried the numpy.lib.recfunctions join_by, but it critical issues with duplicates along the 'key': join_by(key, r1, r2, jointype='inner', r1postfix='1', r2postfix='2', defaults=None, usemask=True, asrecarray=False) Join arrays r1 and r2 on key key. The key should be either a string or a sequence of string corresponding to the fields used to join the array. An exception is raised if the key field cannot be found in the two input arrays. Neither r1 nor r2 should have any duplicates along key: the presence of duplicates will make the output quite unreliable. • Why would some $_POST variables go missing for a form with PHP?

  Sometimes, multiple times a day in fact, users of my web application are submitting a certain form which has about a dozen form fields, half of which are hidden fields, and half of the $_POST data is simply not present in the processing script. Note that the fields that are not present are at the very bottom of the form. I know this because this raises a fatal error, and an email is dispatched to me which includes the post data. And of course, neither I nor any of the developers on my team can reproduce the problem. Flash is involved in the process, as I'm using a library called Uploadify to display a progress meter. Here is the flow...does anyone have ANY ideas at all why some of the post data would be getting wiped out? User visits edit screen for a page in the CMS I am using. Record id for the page is put into a form as a hidden value. User clicks the Uploadify browse button and selects a file (only single file selection is allowed). User clicks Submit button for my form. jQuery intercepts the form submit action, triggers Uploadify to start uploading, and returns false for the submit action (manually cancelling the form submit event so that Uploadify can take over). Uploadify uploads to a custom process script. Uploadify finishes uploading and triggers the Javascript completion callback. The Javascript callback calls $('#myForm').submit() to submit the form. This happens on multiple browsers (Firefox 3.5, 3.6, Safari, Internet Explorer 7, 8) and multiple platforms (Mac OS 10.5, 10.6 and Windows XP, 7).

If you didnt choose any (empty isset?) then false.. else echo Y or N(what you picked)
