  Hi all, I am trying to establish BIS Socket connection. I am able to establish BIS Http connection from my service provider. I have downloaded one chat application that checks network types supported by my device/service plan which has following list: 1)BIS-Http : OK 2)BIS-SOCKET :OK 3)BES-HTTP : NA 4)BES-SOCKET : NA 5)TCP-HTTP : BAD DNS 6)TCP-SOCKET : TIMED OUT As I know direct TCP is not supported by my service provider. So I would like to use BIS-Socket connection. Can anypne please help me in achieving this type of connectivity? Please help. Thanks in advance.

• How can I programmatically construct the object reference?

  Lets just say that I have three textboxes: TextBox1, TextBox2, TextBox3. Normally if I wanted to change the text for example I would put TextBox1.Text = "Whatever" and so on. For what I'm doing right now I would like to something like (TextBox & "i").Text. That obviously isn't the syntax I need to use I'm just using it as an example for what I need to do. So how can I do something like this? The main reason I'm doing this is to reduce code with a loop. Please keep in mind that I'm not actually changing the text of the textboxes I'm simply using that as an example to get the point across.

• I want to move 1 array to another in C#

  Hi, This is just a quick question in C#. I have a scenario where I am working with several devices that all have slightly different data to work with. When I work out which device I am using, I want to set up a common array to use throughout the code, say arrayCommon. So I want to move the info from device1 to the common array. Do I have to do this in a loop for each occurance in the array or can u move the whole array into the common array, as you could in Cobol all those years ago ? Thanks, George.

• Using Linq to select a range of members in a list

  Given a list of elements like so: int[] ia = new int[] { -4, 10, 11, 12, 13, -1, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, -2, 6, 15, 32, -5, 6, 19, 22 }; Is there an easy way in Linq to do something along the lines of "Select the elements from the -1 up to the next negative number (or the list exhausts)"? A successful result for -1 would be (-1, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4). Using -2 would give the result (-2, 6, 15, 32). Not a homework problem. I'm just looking at an implementation using a bool, a for loop, and an if wondering if there's a cleaner way to do it.

• Problem in passing arrays from C# to C++

  Hi, I have an application in which I need to pass an array from C# to a C++ DLL. What is the best method to do it? I did some search on Internet and figured out that I need to pass the arrays from C# using ref. The code for the same: status = IterateCL(ref input, ref output); The input and output arrays are of length 20. and the corresponding code in C++ DLL is IterateCL(int *&inArray, int *&outArray) This works fine for once. But if I try to call the function from C# in a loop the second time, the input array in C# is showing up as an array of one element. Why is this happening and please help me how I can call this function iteratively from C#. Thanks, Rakesh.

• C++ boost or STL `y += f(x)` type algorithm

  hello. I know I can do this y[i] += f(x[i]) using transform with two input iterators. however it seems somewhat counterintuitive and more complicated than for loop. Is there a more natural way to do so using existing algorithm in boost or Stl. I could not find clean equivalent. here is transform (y = y + a*x): using boost::lambda; transform(y.begin(), y.end(), x.begin(), y.begin(), (_1 + scale*_2); // I thought something may exist: transform2(x.begin(), x.end(), y.begin(), (_2 + scale*_1); // it does not, so no biggie. • NSDictionary causing EXC_BAD_ACCESS

  I am trying to call objectForKey: on an nsdictionary ivar, but I get an EXC_BAD_ACCESS error. The nsdictionary is created using the JSON-framework and then retained. The first time I use it (just after I create it, same run loop) it works perfectly fine, but when I try to access it later nothing works. I am doing this code to try to figure out what is wrong: if (resultsDic == nil) { NSLog(@"results dic is nil."); } if ( [resultsDic respondsToSelector:@selector(objectForKey:)] ) { NSLog(@"resultsDic should respond to objectForKey:"); } The dictionary is never nil, but it always crashes on respondsToSelector. any ideas?

• Getting wrong serial-port names from bluetoothdevice (c#)

  To get all avaliable Serialports from the system i use the following command. SerialPort.GetPortNames It works fine for the mainboard serial port, but with the bluetooth device i get the wrong portnames. For Example: Instead of COM7 i get sometimes COM70 or COM7ö. Its always 1 letter to much. any suggestens? PS: I am using newest Visual Studio Express in Windows 7 PPS: The dirty hack to cut the last letter didn't work because i don't know which one is the bluetooth serial port (with various bluetoothstick or devices it changes the number of the comport) and after trying various sticks i reached COM10, ergo COM100 or COM10f

  Hi, C bothers me with its handling of strings. I have a pseudocode like this in my mind: char *data[20]; char *tmp; int i,j; for(i=0;i<20;i++) { tmp = data[i]; for(j=1;j<20;j++) { if(strcmp(tmp,data[j]))//then except the uniqueness, store them in elsewhere. } } But when i coded this the results were bad.(I handled all the memory stuff,little things etc.) The problem is in the second loop obviously :D. But i cannot think any solution. How do i find unique strings in an array. Example input : abc def abe abc def deg entered unique ones : abc def abe deg should be found.

• Closing any open info windows in google maps api v3

  As the title states, on a given event (for me this happens to be upon opening a new google.maps.InfoWindow I want to be able to close any other currently open info windows. Right now, I can open many at a time..but I want only 1 open at a time. I am creating the info windows dynamically (i.e. I don't know ahead of time how many will be generated), so in the click event of the current info window (which is where I want all the other open ones closed) I don't have a reference to any of the other open info windows on which to call close(). I am wondering how I can achieve this. I am not an experienced JavaScript programmer so I don't know if I need to use reflection or something similar here. Would the best way be just to save all the references in some sort of collection, then loop through the list closing them all? Thanks.

  I have a table that stores a bunch of diagnosis for a single plan. When the users create a new plan I need to copy over all existing diagnosis's as well. I had thought to try the below but this is obviously not correct. I am guessing that I will need to loop through my oldDiagnosis part, but how? Thanks! But I want the button to finish the loop cycle before stopping the animation and play the animation on the next mouse-over from frame 1. • C++ String manipulation isn't making sense to me...

  I am trying some of the Stanford SEE courses online to learn some new languages; this particular assignment has to do with removing substrings from strings. What I've got so far is below, but if text = "hello hello" and remove ="el", it gets stuck in a loop, but if i change text to text = "hello hllo", it works, making me think I'm doing something obviously stupid.   Hi all, I'm very new to Java programming language so this is probably dumb question but I have to ask it because I can't figure it out on my own. Here is the deal. I want to create method which extracts certain object type from a list. So the method should receive List as argument, meaning list should contain either Object1 or Object2. I've tried like this : public Object1 extractObject(List<?>){ //some pseudo-code ... loop trough list and check if list item is instance of object one return that instance } The problem with declaring method with List<?> as method argument is that I receive compilation error from eclipse Syntax error on token ">", VariableDeclaratorId expected after this token. How do I set the method signature properly to accept object types either Object1 or Object2 ? Thank you

  For working with google spreadsheet api from android (2.2) - google suggests using google-api-java-client for android. For that you have to include 5 jars to your android application: guava-r09.jar google-http-client-extensions-android2-1.6.0-beta.jar google-api-client-extensions-android2-1.6.0-beta.jar google-http-client-1.6.0-beta.jar google-api-client-1.6.0-beta.jar and digging into google-api-java-client javadocs for fast-changing api. Does it worth the effort? in term of android specifics and device fragmentation? Isn't it reasonable to write your own simple http response parser or take small existing library like google-spreadsheet-lib-android ? Thanks! UPD: choosed google-api-java-client finally as it has all routine stuff (like parsing http, xml) out of box

  Recently switched to Textmate on Mac for coding. On PC when ever I want to tab in or out a block of code I just highlight and press tab or shift+tab to move it in our out. It's very useful when you are adding an extra loop or conditional statement to a block of code to keep everything tidy and neatly indented. On Textmate however when I try this it just replaces my selected text with a tab. So is there a way to do tab and de-tab lines of code in textmate?

  Suppose I have the following C++ class: class Foo { double bar(double sth); }; double Foo::bar(double sth) { double a,b,c,d,e,f a = b = c = d = e = f = 0; /* do stuff with a..f and sth */ } The function bar() will be called millions of times in a loop. Obviously, each time it's called, the variables a..f have to be allocated. Will I gain any performance by making the variables a..f members of the Foo class and just initializing them at the function's point of entry? On the other hand, the values of a..f will be dereferenced through this-, so I'm wondering if it isn't actually a possible performance degradation. Is there any overhead to accessing a value through a pointer? Thanks!

• Suggestions on how to track tag count for a particular object

  Hi, I'm looking for suggestions on how to track the number of tags associated with a particular object in Rails. I'm using acts_as_taggable_on and it's working fine. What I would like to be able to do is search for all objects that have no tags, preferably through a scope i.e. Object.untagged.all My first thought was to use an after_save callback to update an attribute called "taggings_count" in my model: def update_taggings_count self.taggings_count = self.tag_list.size self.save end Unfortunately, this does the obvious thing of putting me in an infinite loop. I need to use an after_save callback because the tag_list is not updated until the main object is saved. Would appreciate any suggestions as I'm on the verge of rolling my own tagging system.
