• Android views' borders issue on some devices

  Hi there, Some users have been reporting border alignment issues on some android components such as the alert popup or the editTexts. This is happening on the Samsung Galaxy Apollo (200x400) and the HTC Pro Touch (480x640) devices. I cannot replicate that because i don't own those devices and in the Samsung Galaxy S and emulator everything looks just right. I think that the problem is the dpi or resolution of the device (because the edittext background is a single .9.png so image should look ok); however I am not sure if the supports-screens tag is the solution. Also, application was developed using Api 3 (v1.5) and supports-screens was not yet supported, nor the screen-size resource qualifier. The style used for the alerts and editText is the phone default. Could the problem be something related with the theme applied to the phone by the user? • Why can't I access a web app running on my Mac via my iPhone?

  I'm developing an iPhone app that has a network component. I'm developing the app in Java (Google App Engine actually), running on port 8080. And it works, when I test my app in the iPhone simulator. But now I am trying to test on the device, and I can't hit my Jetty instance. I can certainly access my Mac via the iPhone because I'm able to hit http://10.0.1.7/~brianpapa/ and view my Home Folder when Web Sharing is turned on. But when I try to hit http://10.0.1.7:8080/, it says it can't connect to the server. Interestingly, if I try to hit http://10.0.1.7:8080/ from my mac, it doesn't work either - I have to use localhost as the hostname instead, then it's fine. Has anybody ever encountered this before, and know how to fix it?

I need to create a matrix of the same size, that counts maximum values in each column and puts 1 in the cell that contains maximum value, and 0 elsewhere. A little example. • MediaElement seems to disable lock screen when playing a video

  I am working on an application that plays a video using the MediaElement component. Now, I would like that if the user is idle, the lock screen appears, as configured by the user in the Settings of the device. If I don't play a video, the lock screen indeed appears. But, when a video is playing no lock screen appears. I cannot find any information on this. Currently I set the idle detection modes like this: PhoneApplicationService.Current.ApplicationIdleDetectionMode = IdleDetectionMode.Enabled; PhoneApplicationService.Current.UserIdleDetectionMode = IdleDetectionMode.Enabled; I am a bit lost now. The only solution I can think of is running a timer myself and stop the video playback after a certain time. (but there seems to be no API calls to receive the configured lock timeout.) Any suggestions are welcome, thanks.

I'm dealing with a nested for loop in which I will be setting a value in an array: for (int i = 0; i < m; ++i) for (int j = 0; j < n; ++j) for (int k = 0; k < o; ++k) array[k] += foo(...); More or less, I want to deal with this so that I can ensure different threads running at the same time don't write to array[k] at the same time. Right now, my script run through a for loop echoing each value to the standard output: for value in ${values[@]} do echo $value done Yeah, that's pretty ugly! And the one column listing is pretty long too... I was wondering if i can find a command or builtin helping me to display all those values in columns, like the ls command does by default when listing a directory (ls -C).   I have been working on the mobile version of my rails application.I am using the approach of using the same controller and rendering a mobile view when the request is from a mobile device. I am using jquery mobile in mobile views. For mobile views I did not use any layout for the views because it is the same as loading the required files in each view. In this approach, Every request essentially loads all of the required js,css files which i feel is making the mobile site to load slowly.   hello. I know I can do this y[i] += f(x[i]) using transform with two input iterators. however it seems somewhat counterintuitive and more complicated than for loop. Is there a more natural way to do so using existing algorithm in boost or Stl.   My android application get restarted when I take the application from home screen, but this not a consistent. Some time it works perfectly (resume with the last visited activity). My application contains a splash screen activity and 5 activities in tab layout. • How can I programmically construct the object reference?

  Lets just say that I have three textboxes: TextBox1, TextBox2, TextBox3. Normally if I wanted to change the text for example I would put TextBox1.Text = "Whatever" and so on. For what I'm doing right now I would like to something like (TextBox & "i").Text. That obviously isn't the syntax I need to use I'm just using it as an example for what I need to do. So how can I do something like this? The main reason I'm doing this is to reduce code with a loop. Please keep in mind that I'm not actually changing the text of the textboxes I'm simply using that as an example to get the point across.

  I am looking to create n-grams from text column in PostgreSQL. I currently split(on white-space) data(sentences) in a text column to an array. select regexp_split_to_array(sentenceData,E'\s+') from tableName Once I have this array, how do I go about: Creating a loop to find n-grams, and write each to a row in another table Using unnest I can obtain all the elements of all the arrays on separate rows, and maybe I can then think of a way to get n-grams from a single column, but I'd loose the sentence boundaries which I wise to preserve.   I am looking for the equivalent of running "File - Save All" before certain Rake macros. If I make a copy of a file in the solution explorer, that file is not included in the project file (.CSPROJ) after Pre_Rake() runs. I would still have to press CTRL-SHIFT-S or File - Save All. So, how to Save All with a Visual Studio Macro?

• NSDictionary causing EXC_BAD_ACCESS

  I am trying to call objectForKey: on an nsdictionary ivar, but I get an EXC_BAD_ACCESS error. The nsdictionary is created using the JSON-framework and then retained. The first time I use it (just after I create it, same run loop) it works perfectly fine, but when I try to access it later nothing works. I am doing this code to try to figure out what is wrong: if (resultsDic == nil) { NSLog(@"results dic is nil."); } if ( [resultsDic respondsToSelector:@selector(objectForKey:)] ) { NSLog(@"resultsDic should respond to objectForKey:"); } The dictionary is never nil, but it always crashes on respondsToSelector. any ideas?

  I've been experimenting with Instruments off and on for a while and and I still can't do the following (with any sensible results): determine or estimate the average runtime of a function that's called many times. For example if I'm driving my gameLoop at 60 Hz with a CADisplayLink I'd like to see how long the loop takes to run on average... 10 ms? 30 ms etc. I've come close with the "CPU activity" instrument but the results are inconsistent or don't make sense. The time profiler seems promising but all I can get is "% of runtime"... and I'd like an actual runtime.

• Flash upload problems (FileReferenceList, timeouts, #2038 )

  Hello! I'm having problems with timeouts while trying to upload multiple files by using FileReferenceList. upload() is being called in a loop for all selected files on Event.SELECT event of FileReferenceList, but only 2 files are being uploaded simultaneously (I also see 2 opened sockets that are used for uploading by running netstat -aon | find "127.0.0.1:80"). If uploading of any file is not started in 60 seconds, I get a #2038 error. E.g., if I try to upload three large files (like 500MB each), first two uploads are started immediately, third one is not started (because limit is 2 simultaneous uploads) and it fails after 60 seconds with #2038 error (I'm fairly sure that this is because of timeout - tested it). This could be solved by calling upload() only when uploading previous file is completed, but I don't want to "hard-code" the number of possible simultaneous uploads (2 on my PC). Is there any way to get/set this number at runtime?

• django + xmppy: send a message to two recipients

  I'm trying to use xmpppy for sending jabber-messages from a django-website. This works entirely fine. However, the message only gets sent to the -first- of the recipients in the list. This happens when I run the following function from django, and also if I run it from an interactive python-shell. The weird part though, is that if I extract the -body- of the function and run that interactively, then all the recipients (there's just 2 at the moment) get the message. Also, I do know that the inner for-loop gets run the correct count times (2), because the print-statement does run twice, and return two different message-ids. List 1: red green blue List 2: one two List 3: apple banana The final list would like like so: red one apple red two apple red one banana red two banana ... and so on Ideally I'd like to pass in three arrays and the routine return one array. I have done a simple loop like so: foreach $word1 (@list1){ foreach $word2 (@list2){ foreach $word3 (@list3){ print "$word1 $word2 $word3\n"; } } } However, this doesn't work if there's nothing in the second or third list (I may only want to iterate between one, two or three lists at a time - in other words, if I only supply two lists it should iterate between those two lists).

When I work out which device I am using, I want to set up a common array to use throughout the code, say arrayCommon. So I want to move the info from device1 to the common array. • Compass accuracy dilemma

  I need to build compass for my application. From reading the documentation it seems there are two reasonable ways of doing this: Sensor.TYPE_ORIENTATION method: This is the easy way of doing it. The problem with this is it is not accurate. When I compare my reading with Snaptic Compass it is about 10-15 degress off which for my purposes is unacceptable. Sensor.TYPE_ACCELEROMETER, Sensor.TYPE_MAGNETIC_FIELD and getRotationMatrix() in conjunction with remapCoordinateSystem() and getOrientation() method: The documentation says this "is usually more accurate". The problem is regardless of the delay I register with listener the compass goes crazy even when the device is stationary on flat surface. Any suggestions for solving this problem will be greatly appreciated.

Does it worth the effort? in term of android specifics and device fragmentation? Isn't it reasonable to write your own simple http response parser or take small existing library like google-spreadsheet-lib-android ? Thanks!   Here is my current code: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^example\.com [NC] #RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI}!^something RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^([^.]+)\.example\.com RewriteRule (.*) something/%1/$1 [QSA,L] My goal is to rewrite http://*.example.com/whatever to http://example.com/something/*/whatever, assuming * is the same for both and whatever is the same for both. However, I believe this is causing an infinite loop somehow, so I added that commented out line (RewriteBase is / btw), but if I uncomment then the entire site is a 500 response code. Without that line, only the subdomains error. What am I doing wrong, and how can I fix this? I have already configured the server so anything gets redirected to my public_html folder. EDIT: For clarification, I am trying to do an internal redirect, not external. EDIT: There is not a flag for internal redirect it seems. Is there any place I can see the actual error message for the broken rewriterule? If I knew what was wrong I would be able to stand a better chance of fixing it.

• jQuery: Animated header plugin

  I'm looking for a jQuery plugin that can help me with the following: I have a list of images I want to use for my header but they are pretty big (height especially) and I don't want to resize them to fit my small header div. What I'd want is a plugin that allows the images to start at the bottom of the div (or rather the top of the image at the top of the div) and move upwards so the entire image can be seen, and once up they are shown entirely (bottom of image at bottom of div) they should "blend" (opacity toggle or something alike) with the next image and thus create a continuous loop with all the images. I've looked through several plugins but have never found one that can achieve what I'm looking for (maybe I'm asking for a tad too much) but my JS is not sufficient enough to build it myself.
