  • What are some funny error pages websites have?

    This question is along the same lines as What are some funny loading statements to keep my users amused, I want screenshots of all the coolest "error" pages site's throw up when something's broken. I know pandora.com talks about a panda ravaging it's way through the office, twitter's has the little birds floating around or something, sourceforge had one with some funny robots the other day. I'm sure I saw a blog once that had a bunch of them, but it's kinda hard to google "error pages". Community Wiki, of course :)

  • Django development targeting both the Google App Engine and Py2Exe

    I must hand in a mostly static database-driven website on a topic on my choice by the end of June as both a hosted version live on the internet and a stored version on a cd-rom. "Ease of launching" is one of the bulletpoints for evaluation of the project. (Yeah, I know.) I and my project mate are currently comparing various frameworks and technologies to help us deliver and deploy this as quickly and painlessly as possible. Theoretically, by using Django, I can target the Google App Engine (which I guess would provide us reliable, free-as-in-beer hosting) or the Py2Exe system + SQLLite (which I guess would make starting the website server from disk as hard as doubleclicking on an .exe file). Sounds better than what PHP and MySQL can ever hope to bring me, right? However, we need to target both Py2Exe and the GAE. How much of the differencies between these wildly different configurations are hidden by Django? What will instead require special attention and possibly specialized code on my end?

    How to access my local host server from internet have installed WAMP server on my Windows XP, And i had created a index.php file in my root folder, and i assigned a virtual name to my localhost. eg: earlier i accessed my index.php via: Code: http:// localhost/ index.php but now i can access like : Code: http: //www. mysite. com/index.php but the problem is that i can access this from my computer only.. how can i use it from internet.. please help me.... Put main website in Facebook. Create a Youtube channel. Invest in Adwords. Invest in other online advertising companies. Use sitemap.xml and Google Webmaster tools. Use Google Trends to analyze the volume of searches of certain keywords. Use Google Analytics to analyze weak points and good points of your site, and find new oportunities in keywords. Use tools to find new keywords related with your content. Do you have some internet links, or knowledge about all the tasks that a SEO Expert should do? Could you share some knowledge about what kind of business could be do with another companies (B2B) to increase the search engine position of those product pages. How can I replace a simple setting like <applicationSettings> <NAMESPACE> <setting name="Testenvironment" serializeAs="String"> <value>True</value> </setting> </NAMESPACE> </applicationSettings> I want to have this setting to be set to True in Debug, and false in Release. How must the entries in the Web.Debug.config and Web.Release.Config look like? And by the way: Is there some documentation about the new web.config issue? Can't seem to google for the correct keywords.

Here is the challenge: The above code should work with very little modification or thinking required. Why must we put up with compromise when we know better? How does, for example, four 320x240 cameras fare against a single 640x480 camera? I'm not well versed in the architecture of the USB interface, what are the performance caveats? By performance I mean how would it affect the time to read the image data from multiple cameras compared to a single one.

    So the site I'm working on has a filter system that operates by passing a key and value system through a querystring. The whole site is going through a re-factor soon and I'm maintaining the existing site so before we discuss the RIGHT way to implement this, I just need ideas for changing my delimiter. The current format is like this: cf=<key>:<value> The problem is, I've recently run into an issue because some of our new values for this filter contain : in them. I.e: cf=MO_AspectRatio:16:10 The value is being UrlEncoded, but the browsers are de-coding %3a into : on the fly because the : doesn't inherently break the urls. I need some suggestions for url-safe delimiters that aren't :,-,_,&,? that makes sense. I'm not looking for a solution like () or something wild.

    Hello, I am trying to find the best option to create a simple progress bar that I need to be triggered periodically from within another JavaScript script. Every few minutes, a timer would cause the progress bar to start going from 0 to 100%. Once it reaches 100%, the bar would reset to 0. I am trying to implement a smooth animated version of the bar, like this one: http://www.webappers.com/progressBar/. (I tried adapting this particular one but I could not get it to work the way I described) I am looking into the jQuery UI ProgressBar: Is it possible to use it in the manner I have described?
