  • Re-Add tabBarController's view into window and the device is in landscape mode

    Hello, I have an app that is a tabBarController based app. I have 4 tabs on it and one of these is for logging in/out in my app. The main ideea is that when I logout, I release the tabBarController (this will release the all 4 view controllers too - I have done this becuse I want to refersh all the views after logging out to look just like the first time).After this, I alloc it again and add the view controllers aagin,set the tabBarItem's titles,etc.This work ok. The problem is when I am in landscape mode;my logout view is painted to fit the landscape area,but after disconnect(now I releasse and alloc again the tabbarController) the view is painted in portrait mode but my device is in lanscape.   • Is there a way to hide the Android Device Chooser?

    Whenever I run my app I get the Android Device Chooser dialog: This is happening because I am using the Google APIs for 1.6 and trying to run the application on my Nexus one. Is there any way to make this automatically, or to not check the compatibility? Sometimes when I make a modification and quickly after I save and run the application, Eclipse will build the project and the Android Device Chooser dialog will show briefly and disappear and the app won't run. I have to click run again for it to work. Any workarounds?

  • iPhone SDK: Do I need to ask user for permissions to use GPS?

    In my iPhone application I need to use GPS (CoreLocation to be exact) to get current position of the device. I know that most (if not all) applications using GPS have a popup implemented asking the user to allow GPS access. Is that done automatically by the iPhone SDK or should I implement such functionality myself? I've tried to run my app on iPhone Simulator and it didn't ask for permissions at all so I'm wondering if the same thing will happen on the actual phone. And if I implement that itself and the SKD provides that out-of-the-box then I'll have two confirmation in my app which I don't want.

  • Which Android platform and API to target?

    I'm just about to launch my first Android app, and it runs on the Android 1.1 platform, API Level 2, but is this what I should officially sign and launch the app as? Does it affect performance at all or is it simply for Android to know which devices it works on? The only problem I see is that I can't specify <supports-screens> in the Manifest, which I would like to do, but it appears I'd have to launch at 1.6 at least for this to work. Would I be missing a huge number of phones by launching at 1.6 instead of 1.1? Thank you!

    Hi, I have all written code and i want to this code standarise by php code sniffer. I would like to know what is the best way to start with it . I had installed it but when i run the command phpcs /path/to/code/myfile.php in the command line i got the last one hundered line error from 310 to 410 . but if i want to see the starting errors of any line error how can i see that . Mostly errors are 322 | ERROR | Spaces must be used to indent lines; tabs are not allowed 322 | ERROR | Line indented incorrectly; expected at least 8 spaces, found 2 How can i solve these things easily and in future it don't repeat , what it saying that i should not use tab , and use space , by using space it will take time . and how can i start with basic standard ,because don't want to utilise more time in this right now.   • Dashboard pattern: HorizontalScrollView with pagination or ScrollView?

    I am starting a new application and I am willing to use the Dashboard pattern. For example: The Google IO app uses it: My issue is that the amount of buttons will be more than six. I'm not sure if I should use vertical or horizontal scrolling. Vertical scrolling could be done with a ScrollView or a GridView but I am not sure which would be the easier way to implement the horizontal version. I was thinking of using an HorizontalScrollView but it doesn't have pagination. It should feel similar to the tweetdeck app. How would you implement it?

    Is there a multipart POST library out there that achieve the same effect of doing a POST from a html form? for example - upload a file programmingly in Java versus upload the file using a html form. And on the server side, it just blindly expect the request from client side to be a multipart POST request and parse out the data as appropriate. Has anyone tried this? specifically, I am trying to see if I can simulate the following with Java The user creates a blob by submitting an HTML form that includes one or more file input fields. Your app sets blobstoreService.createUploadUrl() as the destination (action) of this form, passing the function a URL path of a handler in your app. When the user submits the form, the user's browser uploads the specified files directly to the Blobstore. The Blobstore rewrites the user's request and stores the uploaded file data, replacing the uploaded file data with one or more corresponding blob keys, then passes the rewritten request to the handler at the URL path you provided to blobstoreService.createUploadUrl(). This handler can do additional processing based on the blob key. Finally, the handler must return a headers-only, redirect response (301, 302, or 303), typically a browser redirect to another page indicating the status of the blob upload. Set blobstoreService.createUploadUrl as the form action, passing the application path to load when the POST of the form is completed. <body> <form action="<%= blobstoreService.createUploadUrl("/upload") %>" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <input type="file" name="myFile"> <input type="submit" value="Submit"> </form> </body> Note that this is how the upload form would look if it were created as a JSP.   • Deploying Qt / MySQL application

    Hi everyone, I hadn't found a anwser on the web, so i ask to you. I am unable to run my compiled mysql driver on a deployment solution. On the pc A the app work fine when run with QtCreator, but via the .exe in the following working directory, the driver is not loaded : root/ -----/bin --------/app.exe --------/libgcc_s_dw2-1.dll --------/mingwm10.dll --------/QtCore4.dll --------/QtGui4.dll --------/QtSql4.dll -----/sqldrivers --------/libmysql.dll --------/qsqlmysql4.dll Whereas with libmysql.dll under bin/ driver is loaded. Now on the pc B, with no Qt or MySQL lib installation and with any of the 2 last working dir, the driver is not loaded. pc A : Qt 4.7 2010.05, Win 7 pc B : Win 7 Thanks for your help !

  • Set Pivot Items from Cell Range? Excel 2007

    I have developed code which identifies the multiple item selections from a Pivot field and writes the list of items to a table. I then wish to take this contents of the list and use it to populate a number of other Pivot Tables on other tabs. I currently have the ability to do this for single Pivot items selections, but I need to do this for multiple selections. If I select multiple items in the Pivot Table and attempt to pass these selections to the other Pivot Tables it creates an error because it sees only hte text "Multiple Items" instead of a list of each item that was checked in the upstream Pivot field. I need some VBA code that allows me to use the list to set another Pivot Field's selections. All the Pivot fields in question here are page fields. I am using Excel 2007. Any help is appreciated.   • GVim highlighting with matchadd eventually slows down?

It's an essential feature for me when working with something like Django. It all works fine for random amounts of time; from ten minutes to hours (my guess is it depends on how many files I open/close). But eventually when any line over 80 characters is displayed GVim slows to a halt and requires a restart. Does anyone have any ideas why this would eventually slow down?

But it doesn't works, I've tried without 'exec', with -X option and a lot more. Any ideas ?

  • Why can't I store a float value - it's always zero!

    I have a view controller that is created by the app delegate - it's the first one shown in the app. In its interface I declare float lengthOfTime; I also set it as a property: @property (nonatomic) float lengthOfTime; And in it's implemetation: @synthesize lengthOfTime; In the class viewDidLoad method, I set the value: self.lengthOfTime = 3.0f; However, after this, the value is always zero. No errors, no compile warnings, nothing. Just zero. The class is instantiated, it is showing in the view, so I'm pretty sure it's not a nil reference. I've searched all over Google and can't figure it out. What's going on?!? :(

    I'm building a multiple webbrowser inside tabs( 1 predefine webbrowser control per tab) and I want them all to load at the same time or other words must run in thread. Unfortunately I feel a valid fact came from the error message that this is something not possible. Pls help me to check my simple program code below and its error in case i tried releasing 2 webbrowser controls but when I leave it to single web browser control it works fine. Any workaround?   • UISwitch quick toggle multiple times.

    I was playing around my app and I was toggling a UISwitch really fast (who can resist?). So, I toggled it really fast for 10-15 times, an array that should contain the data from the table view cell that I have my switch in either has extra copies of the same cell sometimes, just one copy (the correct case) a few times and no data in it at all some times. The app works fine if it's toggled at normal speed. I'm pretty sure this scenario won't really happen with my users, but I'm still curious as to why it's happening. Thanks, Teja

  • Can't remove Default.png?

    Weird one... I had been fooling around with an initial splash screen but decided not to use it. But now, although I deleted Default.png from Resources, the splash screen still appears in the Simulator when I start the app. Default.png isn't in the project folder, I close and reopen Xcode, splash screen still there. Close ands reopen Simulator, splash screen still there. I remove the app from the Simulator, build, and the splash screen is still there Default.png. Any ideas?

  • K&R Exercise 1-21 - Mental incomprehension.

    The "impossible" K&R exercise. "Write a program entab that replaces strings of blanks by the minimum number of tabs and blanks to achieve the same spacing. Use the same tab stops, say every n columns. Should n be a variable or a symbolic parameter?" The problem I'm having is, I'm unsure about how to even do this correctly. I know it's not very explanatory, but that's pretty much the problem here. Most of the examples I've seen have counted a number of blanks, and replaced those series with a tab, but this isn't what its asking, I reckon I understand what its asking, but currently feel unable to do this. Could anyone help :)

    I am trying to print from an Adobe Air App that embeds an AJAX app. The print function looks like this: function printPage() { asyncSetupForPrint(printCallback); } function asyncSetupForPrint(printCallback) { synchronousMethods(); if (printCallback) printCallback(); } function printCallback() { var pjob = new window.runtime.flash.printing.PrintJob; var psprite = window.htmlLoader; pjob.start(); // etc... } However the print dialog is coming up before the synchronous methods have been executed. Is the AIR JS runtime optimizing something? And if so, is there any way to stop it doing that? (The setup function is doing things like changing the resolution to huge*huge so that the print out looks ok.)

I first tried using Package Assistant but I kept getting an error telling me it cannot load keystore file. so I tried using the command line I use: pathToAirSDK>adt -args but I get an error telling me that "adt" is not a known command so I try: pathToAirSDK>adt.jar -args but I get a pop up telling me windows does not know how to open adt.jar files. Has anyone packaged a native installer for an AIR 2.0 app? How did you do it? edit forgot to mention I am doing this in windows using the windows command line.

    In a day or two I'll be ready to submit my iPhone app to the AppStore and I'm curious whether people who have gone through this process have any tips / suggestions for a smooth submission process. Here's things I've covered; No memory leaks Tested performance on an actual device Doesn't crash :) Using correct certificates / profile What I'm a little unsure about are how to configure the "Bundle Display Name" /"Bundle Identifier" and "Bundle Name" in info.plist. I understand the first is the text that's shown on the iPhone itself, but what about the last? Does this have to match Bundle Identifier? Are there any other things I should add to the info.plist? I've noticed that when built for Adhoc distribution my app does not have any author/title information in iTunes.

  • What tools do you use when generating markup from mockups?

    So I endeavor to spend most of time on the app server side of things but time to time I need to get my hands dirty and generate markup/css/js from a wireframe or mockup. As far as tools go, Ive found browsershots and Litmus app helpful and of course, vm's as well for checking things out live in ie-{6,7,8}. Otherwise I do the heavy lifting in vim. For generating new markup thats not tied to a target design I think some of the css frameworks & tools like sass look useful but Im skeptical of their utility when needing to generate markup to match a photoshop design. So what tips / tools do you keep in your markup generating utility belt when building solid markup from designs? My list so far: Browsershots Browserlab.adobe.com Haml / Less / Sass (not used but will probably explore)

    Hey folks, I'm trying to minify multiple CSS files using preg_replace. Actually, I'm only trying to remove any linebreaks/tabs and comments from the file. the following works for me: $regex = array('{\t|\r|\n}', '{(/\*(.*?)\*/)}'); echo preg_replace($regex, '', file_get_contents($file)); But I'd like to do it in a single multiline regex, like this: $regex = <<<EOF {( \t | \r | \n | /\*(.*?)\*/ )}x EOF; echo preg_replace($regex, '', file_get_contents($file)); However, this does not do anything at all. Is there any way to do this? Regards, x3ro Edit: Ok, so I'll take a look at existing minifiers, but it still leaves me with the question how I would do a multiline regex like this, because with the x-modifier multiline regexs should work fine even in php, shouldn't they?

    Hi all, I got an array in my app and I need to order by one of its key. Basically what the app does is taking latitude and longitude somewhere, calculate the distance from my actual position and create an array containing a key called "distance". I'm using myArray sortUsingDescriptors: [NSArray arrayWithObject:[[[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"distance" ascending:YES] autorelease]]]; I'm not sure it's working, I mean the first results are ordered but then it shows distance closer to the previous, as example: 0.8 km 1.6 km 1.9 km 10053.9 km 1098.0 km 2372.0 km 470.5 km Any suggestion?
