• Can't find the source of an exception in Java

  Basically an exception is being thrown and I can't find the reason. When thrown nothing is painted. Another interesting thing is the timing of the throwing. I am unable to find any logical patern, as sometimes it is thrown as soon as I initiate the class and sometimes it needs more then five minutes. In addition to this, as far as I tested there is no single action that calls repaint() that triggers it or rather all do. I am new to Java and all the other exceptions had the class and row number of where they were thrown so I don't know what to do here. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. • How can I get Firefox to update background-color on a:hover *before* a javascript routine is run?

  I'm having a Firefox-specific issue with a script I wrote to create 3d layouts. The correct behavior is that the script pulls the background-color from an element and then uses that color to draw on the canvas. When a user mouses over a link and the background-color changes to the :hover rule, the color being drawn changes on the canvas changes as well. When the user mouses out, the color should revert back to non-hover color. This works as expected in Webkit browsers and Opera, but it seems like Firefox doesn't update the background-color in CSS immediately after a mouseout event occurs, so the current background-color doesn't get drawn if a mouseout occurs and it isn't followed up by another event that calls the draw() routine. It works just fine in Opera, Chrome, and Safari. How can I get Firefox to cooperate? I'm including the code that I believe is most relevant to my problem. I am using it with richFaces. Once it goes to HTTPS its not changing the page—I mean if I perform post action it doesn't actually happen. But if I do it from the local machine's browser it works perfectly, from a remote browser it stucks with HTTPS and not changing after that. • jQuery Validation hiding or tearing down jquery Modal Dialog on submit

  Basically when clicking the modal created submit button, and calling jQuery('#FormName').submit(), it will run the validation and then call the method assigned in the submitHandler. After that it is either creating a new modal div or hiding the form, and I don't get why. I have debugged it and noticed that after the method call in the submitHandler, the form .is(':hidden') = true and this is true for the modal div also. I'm positive I've done this before but can't seem to figure out what I've done wrong this time. The odd this is a modal div is showing up on the screen, but it's completely devoid of content. (Even after putting in random text outside of the form. For example, using the validator to add messages to the error div. (Success or not) Without doing this, the modal dialog apparently thinks that it's done with what it needs to do and just hides everything. Not sure exactly why, but to stop this behavior some kind of focus has to be assigned to something within the div itself.

• Does anyone know how to appropriately deal with user timezones in rails 2.3?

  We're building a rails app that needs to display dates (and more importantly, calculate them) in multiple timezones. Can anyone point me towards how to work with user timezones in rails 2.3(.5 or .8) The most inclusive article I've seen detailing how user time zones are supposed to work is here: http://wiki.rubyonrails.org/howtos/time-zones... although it is unclear when this was written or for what version of rails. Specifically it states that: "Time.zone - The time zone that is actually used for display purposes. This may be set manually to override config.time_zone on a per-request basis." Keys terms being "display purposes" and "per-request basis". Locally on my machine, this is true. However on production, neither are true. Setting Time.zone persists past the end of the request (to all subsequent requests) and also affects the way AR saves to the DB (basically treating any date as if it were already in UTC even when its not), thus saving completely inappropriate values. We run Ruby Enterprise Edition on production with passenger. If this is my problem, do we need to switch to JRuby or something else? • Java PHP posting using URLConnector, PHP file doesn't seem to receive parameters

  Hi there, I am trying to post some simple string data to my php script via a java application. My PHP script works fine when I enter the data myself using a web browser (newvector.php?x1=&y1=...) • twitter bootstrap collapsable nav menu

  I am using twitter bootstrap on my web app to do all of the styling and everything is great for the most part. The problem is that my nav bar, once collapsed, will not drop down when I click the dropdown icon. For example, I can use {if}, {foreach}, or {assign} tags without any problems. But whenever I try to use {html_select_date}, {html_image}, or {html_table}, I get the errors. In case this matters, the programmer who is designing the plugin copied the openXWorkflow plugin and made some changes. I noticed that the openXWorkflow plugin has a file (openx/plugins_repo/openXWorkflow/www/admin/plugins/openXWorkflow/library/OX/UI/Smarty/SmartyCompilerWithViewHelper.php) with a class that overrides the default Smarty compiler, supposedly with the ability to compile shorthands for calling ZF view helpers. That file has a list of Smarty functions, but the list is incomplete. If I add the functions to the list, or simply delete the file, my template works fine, but I don't like to change library files. It may make the app hard to maintain, and I don't know if it will mess up something else. The file has the comment "There is no easy access to the list of Smarty's built-in functions so we need to list them here. HTML-specific functions are not included as we cover HTML generation separately.", so it seems like certain Smarty functions may be disabled on purpose for some reason. Will anything bad happen if I try to use them? If, for example, I want to use the {html_select_date} tag in my template, how would I go about doing that? Keep in mind that much of this stuff is new and unfamiliar to me. This is my first time ever using OpenX or Smarty, and I only have a little bit of experience with the Zend framework. Please let me know if we are using the wrong approach.

• jquery-autocomplete does not work with my django app.

  Hi everybody, I have a problem with the jquery-autocomplete pluging and my django script. I want an easy to use autocomplete plugin. And for what I see this (http://code.google.com/p/jquery-autocomplete/) one seems very usefull and easy. For the django part I use this (http://code.google.com/p/django-ajax-selects/) I modified it a little, because the out put looked a little bit weired to me. It had 2 '\n' for each new line, and there was no Content-Length Header in the response. First I thought this could be the problem, because all the online examples I found had them. But that was not the problem. (this issue is solved, it was a safety feature from ajax not to get data from another domain) For example when I am typing Bi in the textfield, the url "http://gladis.org/ajax/tag?q=Bi&max... is generated. When you enter this in your browser you get this response: 4|Bier|Bier 43|Kolumbien|Kolumbien 33|Namibia|Namibia Now my ajax call get the correct response, but there is still no list showing up with all the possible entries. I tried also to format the output, but this doesn't work either. I set brakepoints to the function and realized that they won't be called at all. • How to sanely configure security policy in Tomcat 6

  I'm using Tomcat 6.0.24, as packaged for Ubuntu Karmic. The default security policy of Ubuntu's Tomcat package is pretty stringent, but appears straightforward. In /var/lib/tomcat6/conf/policy.d, there are a variety of files that establish default policy. Worth noting at the start: I've not changed the stock tomcat install at all -- no new jars into its common lib directory(ies), no server.xml changes, etc. Putting the .war file in the webapps directory is the only deployment action. the web application I'm deploying fails with thousands of access denials under this default policy (as reported to the log thanks to the -Djava.security.debug="access,stack,failure" system property). turning off the security manager entirely results in no errors whatsoever, and proper app functionality What I'd like to do is add an application-specific security policy file to the policy.d directory, which seems to be the recommended practice. What's interesting is that: it doesn't exist in this context the fact that the file doesn't exist ends up throwing a security exception, rather than java.io.File.exists() simply returning false (although I suppose that's just a matter of the semantics of the read permission). Another workaround (besides just disabling the security manager in tomcat) is to add an open-ended permission to my policy file: grant { permission java.security.AllPermission; }; I presume this is functionally equivalent to turning off the security manager. I suppose I must be getting the codeBase declaration in my grants subtly wrong, but I'm not seeing it at the moment.

But why am I getting this extra build fail? It may also be of note that when downloading solutions/templates which should work out the box, I get the same error. I'm guessing I've set something up wrong here but I've just followed a tutorial 100% correctly!! If anyone could help I'd be very grateful! Thanks EDIT: According to this blog, this post and a few other websites, I'm not the only one getting this problem. It has been like this since the release of xCode 3.2, assuming the apple dev center documents and tutorials etc are pre-3.2 as well. However some say its a known issue whereas others seem to think this was intentional. I for one would like both the extended console and in code messages, and I certainly do not like the "Command /bin/sh..." error and really think they would have documented such an update. • OpenID and Iframes

  hey guys, I'm having a little bit of trouble making OpenID work from within an iframe. basically I have some heavy handed content loaded on the main page and I want to build a log in system where the page doesn't need to be reloaded (and thus reload all of that content again). I fell in love with OpenID from using stack exchange websites, and have intergrated it relatively well into other projects. I'm assuming that this is a counter measure put in place to stop me stealing login details (thats not what i'm trying to achieve btw, hence the preamble), and thats fair enough, but still bloody aggravating. is there any thing here that i'm doing retardedly, is there some way round this, and if neither of the above, is my only other options to create new windows or build my own login/registration. • "Invalid form control" only in Google Chrome

• SimpleXMLElement (PHP) throwing error on XML root attributes

  I am working on a project that will take XML data submitted through a textarea input in a form then extract the data and throw it into a database. I am getting errors about the attribute in the root field of my XML (it is the same schema each time, but with different values).
