When I turn off the connection manually, nothing happend. My service is not started, log message are not displayed, only toast messages work ... And even better, when I turn on the connection again (by pressing F8), I test again the type of connection, Toast messages are shown but this time Log messages don't work. Problems happend when I press F8. Anyway, I think I miss something with broadcast receivers, it's not totally clear. Please help me.

  Hello. I'm trying to show a map using postGIS+Mapserver.And I've displayed a PNG picture in my WEB. However, I want to show some charactors in the map, just like this: this is the example from Mapserver Now I'm using database(postgreSQL), but not a shape file. How can I add the charactors then?   For detecting and responding to mobile user agents, I'm using Mime::Type.register_alias "text/html", :mobile and the approach I'm wondering what is the best approach to test with capybara. This article suggests setting up an iphone driver with Capybara.register_driver :iphone do |app| http://blog.plataformatec.com.br/2011/03/configuring-user-agents-with-capybara-selenium-webdriver/ but I'd like a more flexible approach where the mime type is set via the url extension localhost/index.mobile and where I can do this visit user_path( format: :mobile) Rails understands the extension and sets the format in the params hash, but how do I get the url helper methods to add that to all urls as a file extension?

• Why won't this SQL CAST work?

  I have a nvarchar(50) column in a SQL Server 2000 table defined as follows: TaskID nvarchar(50) NULL I need to fill this column with some random SQL Unique Identifiers (I am unable to change the column type to uniqueidentifier). I tried this: UPDATE TaskData SET TaskID = CAST(NEWID() AS nvarchar) but I got the following error: Msg 8115, Level 16, State 2, Line 1 Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type nvarchar. I also tried: UPDATE TaskData SET TaskID = CAST(NEWID() AS nvarchar(50)) but then got this error: Msg 8152, Level 16, State 6, Line 1 String or binary data would be truncated. I don't understand why this doesn't work but this does: DECLARE @TaskID nvarchar(50) SET @TaskID = CAST(NEW() AS nvarchar(50)) I also tried CONVERT(nvarchar, NEWID()) and CONVERT(nvarchar(50), NEWID()) but got the same errors.

• 405: Method Not Allowed WCF

  I can perfectly call a WCF web method from localhost. I published to this server: http://luiscarlosch.com/WebFormClean.aspx (only firefox or chrome) with the Visual Studio publishing tool and it works fine. The problem is when a try to access it from another computer. I get the 405: Method Not Allowed. But It doest make sense because It works fine when i access it remotely from the publisher computer as I said. Any idea? • rsync over ssh is not working anymore, while ssh itself is working fine (Write failed: broken pipe)

  This issue started happening after i changed router. This is the scenario: Windows7 Host Ubuntu 10.04 Guest (VirtualBox) Ubuntu 10.04 remote server What i used to do is run a very basic rsync command: rsync -avz --delete /local/path/ username@host:/path/to/remote/directory This worked perfect until i did change adsl provider, and i changed router aswell: now, this happens: rsync on Ubuntu Guest is not working anymore (to any random server), if using this new router rsync on Ubuntu Guest is WORKING, if i switch back to old router i tried a new virtual box ubuntu install, and the command is WORKING with both the routers So, the not-working-combo is oldUbuntu + newRouter. To get things worst, i can state that (on the not-working ubuntu) i ping the remote host plain ssh connection to the remote host is working fine (i can auth, connect, and do stuff on the remote host)   Suppose I have a list of a couple of thousand organizations and a user needs to be able to select one of them. The list is too large to populate in a dropdown at page load, and the user often knows what they want but it's not the first part of the organization name. That is, they know "Collections" but not that the precise name of the organization is "Department of Collections". So the user will need/want to type in some information. It's easy enough to use an autocompleting textbox of some kind, but I don't want to allow the user to type in random text - they have to choose one of the organizations explicitly. What's the best solution?

  When creating JNDI JDBC connection pools in an application server, I always specified the type as javax.sql.ConnectionPoolDataSource. I never really gave it too much thought as it always seemed natural to prefer pooled connections over non-pooled. However, in looking at some examples (specifically for Tomcat) I noticed that they specify javax.sql.DataSource. Further, it seems there are settings for maxIdle and maxWait giving the impression that these connections are pooled as well. Glassfish also allows these parameters regardless of the type of data source selected. Are javax.sql.DataSource pooled in an application server (or servlet container)? What (if any) advantages are there for choosing javax.sql.ConnectionPoolDataSource over javax.sql.DataSource (or vice versa)?

  Hello, I have an ASP.NET application that uses themes. Let's pretend I have a theme named "MySkin". I have a page that is in a sub-directory of my application. When I reference a page that uses "MySkin", I noticed that ASP.NET renders a link element that walks up to the root of the site and then down into the App_Themes directory. Here is an example link element I found in a rendered ASP.NET page: <link href="../../App_Themes/MySkin/theme.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" /> Is there a reason that the rendered link element does not use the following instead: <link href="/App_Themes/MySkin/theme.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" /> Is this a browser compatibility issue or is there another reason? The reason I am asking is because I am rendering my ASP.NET page using Server.Execute and storing the result in a different directory. Because of this, I would prefer to use the second way to reference my theme's css. Thank you!

  I have a dropdown that I'm using to refresh a div with checkboxes. I am trying to figure out why my view is not refreshing if I pass in data in JSON format. If I pass in just a regular string, the view refreshes. If I pass in JSON data, the view does not refresh. If I step through the code in the Partial view, I can see the correct number of records are being passed in, however the view doesn't get refreshed with the correct number of checkboxes. I tried to add some cache directives, it didn't work.   I have a project which references a dll in the same solution (called "Common"). Common has two types of errors with the same names but different namespaces i.e. Common.Login.UserDeleted Common.Imaging.UserDeleted When I type UserDeleted visual studio recognizes both of these and asks for which it is ("ambiguous reference"). I right-click UserDeleted and select one of the two above, yet it then says that the type or reference doesn't exist! It doesn't make any sense. Why is this happening? I can't compile my program until I find a solution to this, thanks

  Hello all, I'm sure I'm missing something very simple, but let's say I have two entities, Employee and EmployeeType. Employee type would contain values like 'Full time', 'Contractor', 'Intern', etc. An Employee entity would contain one, and only one EmployeeType value. So I am designing a new .edmx model using the Model-First approach and generating my actual sql server data schema from the model. I want to add an integer type foreign key id into my Employee entity, EmployeeTypeId, which will map to the primary key of the EmployeeType entity. So I've gone ahead and done that in my Employee entity. Where I'm stuck is how, though the Entity Framework designer, to enforce the 1:1 referential constraint on that EmployeeTypeId property? Or does the EF handle that automatically behind the scenes? thanks in advance, John
