  Hi, I have a url and I want to retrieve the html dom generated when going to the url (all the code for the page) in a javascript variable. How can I do this? I'm guessing an html get or post? Can anyone give an example with jQuery? Every time I do a $.get or $.post like this: $.get("http://www.google.ca", function(result) { alert(result); alert($(result).html()); }); $.post("http://www.google.ca", function(result) { alert(result); alert($(result).html()); }, "xml"); the first alert in each call comes up blank and the second comes up as null. • How to rewrite the URL

  I have a small application built using Seam 2.2, Richfaces 3.3, JBoss 5.1. Most of the page navigation adds the request parameters to the target URL. I would like to hide parameters to be hidden to the customer who is using the application (e.g. I would expect the URL to be something like "http://localhost:8080/books/Book.seam". The parameters (userId, orderId and cmId) are currently mapped to the backend bean via Book.page.xml. How do I prevent the request parameters from showing up in the browser URL, as it also allows the customer to manipulate the URL. We did look at seam URL re-writing feature, it talked about manipulating say the primary key id in a REST format, not sure how to accomplish something more complex like the above use case in a elegant fashion.

• Haskell as REST server

  I would like to try Haskell on a smallish project which should be well suited to it. I would like to use it as a backend to a small ajax application. Haskell backend should be able to do authentication (basic, form, whatever, ...), keep track of user session (not much data there except for username) and to dispatch request to handlers based on uri and request type. It should also be able to serialize response to both xml and json format, depending on request parameter. I suppose the handlers are ideally suited for Haskell, since the service is basically stateless, but I don't know where to start for the rest of the story. Searching hackage didn't give me much hints.

  I'm trying to get an updated version for Windows vista. I previously got 21.4.22 but it's been a year since that release. The linux versions should be 22.x. I'm wondering if anyone else builds stable binaries for Windows ? 21.4.22 has several bugs and I cannot figure out how to fix them. I know Xemacs is not as active as GNU emacs but still aren't there any Xemacs users on windows who build their own copies even if the official site doesn't ? I would like to be able to compare buffers, files and directories apart from being able to edit any file : java, javascript, ruby, .bat, .sh, .xml, etc.

• Video playback on VideoView disappears after going back from another Activity

  I have two Activities: one with VideoView and the second one. I start watching a video in the first Activity, then during playback I start second Activity. After going back to first Activity I can hear sound but see no picture. However, whenever I put anything between that text it gets converted into a tag: &lt;xxx&gt; converts to <xxx></xxx> How do I stop that?I am trying to enter sample HTML into TinyMCE so I can document some XML. There must be a standard way of doing this I imagine.

  I am trying to load Linq on my .Net 3.5 enabled web server by adding the following to my .aspx page: <%@ Import Namespace="System.Query" %> However, this fails and tells me it cannot find the namespace. The type or namespace name 'Query' does not exist in the namespace 'System' I have also tried with no luck: System.Data.Linq System.Linq System.Xml.Linq I believe that .Net 3.5 is working because var hello = "Hello World" seems to work. Can anyone help please? Cheers, Stephen PS: I just want to clarify that I don't use Visual Studio, I simple have a Text Editor and write my code directly into .aspx files.

  Hello guys, I was checking out the stocktwits.com website. While signing up I provided them with my twitter username. Now whenever I tweet and if my tweet contains $ and a stock ticker symbol - it instantly appears on Stocktwits.com I am interested in implementing something similar in my website. Just wanted an understanding of how this would work. This is how I'm assuming it would work at a high level: 1) On my website - require users to provide their twitter usernames 2) Run a cron job every few minutes to pull the latest tweets for each of the usernames provided using something like http://twitter.com/statuses/user_timeline/username.xml I've tried Stocktwits and they updates are almost instantaneous - so it does not appear like they are checking for updates every few minutes. What are the best ways to implement this solution Thanks

  I have a main page that has multiple user controls on it. All the user controls have static text and some data to be retrieved from the DB. The aysnchronous DB call is clubbed at the page level and one call is made to avoid multiple calls (in the different user controls) to get the same data. I want the page and user controls to load initially with the static text and later refresh the contents obtained from the server. To sum it all up, Page Loads = Asyn calls fired on page load = Data received back from the server (XML/text/whatever) = User controls to load with this data using AJAX. What methods do I have to let the user controls know that I have the data from the server and they need to update with this data?

  The documentation says: When set to true, the XmlReader throws an XmlException when any DTD content is encountered. Do not enable DTD processing if you are concerned about Denial of Service issues or if you are dealing with untrusted sources. If you have DTD processing enabled, you can use the XmlSecureResolver to restrict the resources that the XmlReader can access. You can also design your application so that the XML processing is memory and time constrained. For example, configure time-out limits in your ASP.NET application. Can someone please explain the issue? Why would a reader application want to prohibit the retrieval of a DTD? Where is the denial-of-service issue, if it is a reading application?   First off, I'm using Tomcat 5.5 and my .jsp's live in /webapps/foo/bar/*.jsp. I followed the directions here to set up a default 404 error page. In my TOMCAT_HOME/conf/web.xml I entered: <error-page> <error-code>404</error-code> <location>/error.html</location> </error-page> I dropped copies of a test error.html file into each of the dirs (I wasn't sure where /error.html was referring to): /webapps/ /webapps/foo/ /webapps/foo/bar/ Whenever I attempt to access a non-existent page in a browser at url's /foo/missingpage.html or /foo/bar/missingpage.html I'm redirected to my error page that exists in /foo/error.html. However, attempting to access a non-existent page in a browser at url /missingpage.html yields a blankpage. Or any permutation of /missingDir/missingfile.html will also yield a blank page. Any suggestions? Am I missing some extra configuration? Thanks PR

  We need to test a java build with the languages set to different values. I can manually (i.e. via export LANG=en_DK.UTF-8 and export LANG=en_DK) test that the unit tests run with the ant build script behaves differently, but I need to set the environment variable from ant. I have tried setting it using these methods (with the shell $LANG set to en_DK.UTF-8): using -D on the command line: ant -DLANG=en_DK using a build.properties file with the line LANG=en_DK in it using the following statements in the build.xml file (sorry for the formatting, I can't get SO to display it otherwise): : <property environment="ANTENV"/> <property name="ANTENV.LANG" value="en_DK"/> Using any of the three possibilities, and when run with -debug, ant reports that: Override ignored for property "LANG" What can I do to set the LANG environment variable from within ant?

• [AS3] htmlText not showing bold or italics font

  So I have a MovieClip asset with a dynamic textfield sitting inside of it. I export my .fla as a .swc to use within Flash Builder 4, and create instances of the asset with code, populating the text dynamically from XML. My issue is that even though I have htmlText enabled, bold and italics tags don't appear to be working. I have a feeling it is because when I created the asset in Flash CS4, the text field makes you specify the font, and the subset of that to use (Regular, Bold, Oblique, etc). Is there any way to get the htmlText to render bold and italics tags properly without having to completely rethink the way I'm creating all these fields?

• RedDot with Lotus Notes support

  Hi, First post here in SO. I have a question within the area of CMS (RedDot) and possible integration of some Lotus Notes functionality. I'm very fresh in both areas. From my short research (did not find very much material regarding RedDot) I got the following: Contents in RedDot CMS can be accessed (and modified?) via the RQL API. (basicly xml messages) There exists a API developed for Java (jRQL). Lotus Notes has a developer kit called Lotus Expeditor Toolkit. My vague question is something like this: Is it possible to integrate a some kind of "content approver/manager" or any other useful CMS functionality from Lotus Notes into the RedDot CMS system? In that case I was thinking of using the jRQL and Lotus Expediton Toolkit so that the back end is fully using Java. Or is there any better solution? Regards Fredrik
