  • How do I design the file storage issue?

    I am working on an application that creates video files and stores them in a folder in the C:\ drive. I speculate that there will be a large number of these files in the future and we would run out of disk space at some point of time (on our VPS). When the time comes that we have to upgrade, we either plan to use one of the Cloud providers to store files or our existing provider can add another disk (say D:\ drive). Either way, I would want to design the app now in a way that in future, moving to different locations would not be an issue and would be transparent to the end user. The code that creates these files supports 2 ways: myObj.SetOutputToDisk(<path to store>); or myObj.SetOutputToMemoryStream(ms); If we go with the Cloud architecture, I assume we might have the following combination: Cloud Files + Existing VPS or Cloud Files + Cloud Windows Server Given the unknowns at this time, how would I go about designing this?

    Hello I have a question concerning translating data from a CSV into XML or JSON where it is essential to preserve the heirarchy of the data. For example, if I have CSV data like this: type,brand,country,quantity apple,golden_delicious,english,1 apple,golden_delicious,french,2 apple,cox,,4 apple,braeburn,,1 banana,,carribean,6 banana,,central_america,7 clememtine,,,3 What I want is to preserve hierarchy in the XML so that I get something like: <fruit> <type = "apple"> <brand = "golden_delicious"> <country = "english" quantity = "1"> <country = "french" quantity = "2"> </brand> <brand = "cox"> <quantity = "4"> </brand> <brand = "braeburn"> <quantity = "1"> </brand> </type> <type = "banana"> <country = "carribean" quantity = "6"> <country = "central_america" quantity = "7"> </type> <type = "clementine"> <quantity = "3"> </type> <fruit /> Is it best to try to use JAXP or to convert the above into a table simply of parent, child and then writing the data to an array of strings for processing,? Like this: parent,child fruit,apple apple,golden_delicious golden_delicious,english golden_delicious,french english,1 french,2 apple,cox cox,4 apple,braeburn braeburn,1 And so on.     I have a file explorer shell extension called "Copy File Path" or "Copy Folder Path", depending on which pane I am in in file explorer, which copies the full path of a file or a folder to the clipboard. Because it's very handy for me, I use it many times during the day. To make it more productive, I would like to assign a function key to it instead of using the right mouse click context menu, looking for it in the menu (big menu because of many extensions) and selecting it. The way I want to use it is select the file with the mouse and hit the function key. Is there a utility or tool, tray taskmaybe, which can add this functionality to Windows?

Scale works like a percentage, and there's no way to get the width, height, or depth of the DAE once in flash. Create the necessary space by dropping objects in the filegroup, adding additional files to the filegroup, or setting autogrowth on for existing files in the filegroup. How do you fix this error? I don't understand the suggestions there.

  • Visual Studio 2008 IDE freezes/crashes when opening .aspx file with css included

    I have read a lot of questions about Visual Studio 2008 crashing on viewing some source files. However, I still can't fix this problem. Visual Studio (SP1) runs fine until I try and view .aspx source files with the lines <style type="text/css"> </stlye> anywhere in them, upon which it freezes (i.e is totally unresponsive) and I have to use the task manager to shut it down. I have systematically deleted and re-included all other code and it comes down to these two lines, which is very confusing. Sometimes it happens as soon as the lines are added, sometimes it doesn't freeze until I build the solution with any of the problem pages open. I can add external style sheets, and it only started recently. I tried the event viewer logs but I don't really understand how to use them to find out about this. I had Resharper 4.5 installed and have since uninstalled it, and do not have anything else installed. Is there any way I can a) find out what's happening, b) fix it without reinstalling vs?

  • Open source file upload with no timeout on IIS6 with ASP, ASP.NET 2.0 or PHP5

    I'm after a cross-platform cross-browser way of uploading files such that there is no timeout. Uploads aren't necessarily huge -- some just take a long time to upload because of the uploader's slow connection -- but the server times out anyway. I hear that there are methods to upload files in chunks so that somehow the server decides not to timeout the upload. After searching around all I can see is proprietary upload helpers and Java and Flash (SWFUpload) widgets that aren't cross-platform, don't upload in chunks, or aren't free. I'd like a way to do it in any of these platforms (ASP, ASP.NET 2.0 or PHP5), though I am not very clued up on all this .NET class/controller/project/module/visual studio/compile/etc stuff, so some kind of runnable complete project that runs on .NET 2.0 would be helpful. PHP and ASP I can assume will be more straight-forward. Unless I am completely missing something, which I suspect/hope I am, reasonable web uploads are bloody hard work in any language or platform. So my question is: how can I perform web browser uploads, cross-platform, so that they don't timeout, using free software? Is it possible at all?
