  • Firefox 4, 5 hang on Windows XP

    I've been having a lot of trouble with Firefox 4 and 5 hanging on my Windows XP machine. I've often found a temporary solution of uninstalling and reinstalling. Recently I deleted my Firefox profile to get a clean start. But nothing seems a reliable solution. The only plugin that I have is Firebug. My machine is a bit low on RAM, with only 2 GB. Am I missing something? Any troubleshooting steps that you would recommend? I've come to expect Firefox to be very stable, and that has not at all been my experience lately.

  • Looking for search syntax documentation for SharePoint UserProfileManager.Search Method

    Greetings - I have a SharePoint 2010 server running with the User Profile service setup to synchronize to Active Directory. I'd like to use the UserProfileManager.Search() method to return user profiles based on specific criteria. MSDN documentation for this method is here. It states that the method will return user profiles that match the specified search pattern. This is exactly what I want. However, there is no documentation on what a valid search pattern is. I've made a few guesses like "Department = 'HR'" but haven't had any luck. I can't find any other documentation or sample code. Can anyone provide samples of valid "search patterns?" Another way to return user profiles is to do a query using the FullTextSqlQuery object. We don't yet have Search setup on this server so this isn't currently an option. Thanks, Greg

And then using dir or tree /F, the content in Unicode won't show as Unicode. (in Window Explorer (file manager), the Unicode will show) Is there a way to handle it? To get Unicode characters to test your filenames, you can go to http://news.google.com/news?edchanged=1&ned=tw and you will be able to get many Unicode characters there (UTF-8)

    I tried parsing a gigantic XML file and I ended up running out of virtual memory. The OS put all my applications on pause and gave me a screen to shutdown applications to free more space. I killed the XML parsing application and now have tons of space but I can't resume my paused applications anymore. What should I do?

    I recently discovered and fell in love with Roboform. In less than a week it's become indispensable. So far I've only seen Roboform's ability to fill out fields in web browsers and Windows GUI apps. I'm an app developer and sometimes I need to use Telnet/SSH. My SSH client of choice is PuTTY, but I can't find any way to integrate Roboform with PuTTY. Is this possible? If not, is there another [free] SSH client that will work with Roboform?

I've recently upgraded to the 64 bit version of Vista and am now having trouble opening the files created on the previous Windows setup.     I had installed virtualbox 4.2.2 in Windows 7.     Telnet from my mac OSx doesn't work while it works from the AWS instances and other networks. I have no local firewalls.     If I open a command prompt on my machine and type ipconfig /all, I see lots of Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection* 9: Media state . . . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Sufficx . . . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . . . : Microsoft 6to4 Adapter #5 Physical address. . . . . . . . . . . : 00-00-00-00-00-00-00-E0 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . . . : Yes In fact, they're so many that my "real" adapters are pushed out of the stack, and can't be seen anymore. Is there any flag I can use on ipconfig to hide all virtual interfaces? Or is there some other way around this problem? Since they always say "Media disconnected" I suppose disabling could be an option, but if possible I'd rather not turn any functionality off. I just want to control what output I get from ipconfig. Also, I know these are related to IPv6 stuff. However, most of what I find on google merely states what these are, and that they're harmless - nothing about hiding/removing them.

  • Lenovo Mini Wireless Keyboard N5901: Remap orange "My Computer" button

    I have a Lenovo Mini Wireless Keyboard N5901 (a.k.a. Part No. 57Y6336) that I'm using with an HTPC running Windows 7. The remote comes with an orange button in the top-left corner that by default, when pressed, opens the Windows "My Computer" window. I would like to remap / reprogram this button to act like the green "Windows Media Center" button instead on a Windows Media Center (WMC) remote; that is, open Windows Media Center if it isn't already open, or go to the WMC homepage if WMC is already open. I've tried several keyboard-remapping utilities (as recommended in other, more general "how to remap keyboard key?" SuperUser.com questions) including SharpKeys, Key Mapper, and KeyTweak, with no luck so far. None of these utilities recognize the orange button -- they all do recognize that some key was pressed, but display a value for the key of "unsupported" or something similar. I was able to use a utility called Keyboard Scan Code Generator to determine that a press of the orange button has a KeyData value of 16777217 (0x1000001), and a "Virtual Code" value of 182. (The other "media" buttons on the N5901 have the same KeyData value, but different Virtual Code values). I'm not sure at this point where in Windows this keystroke is being interpreted as a command to open "My Computer." There is no special software / driver for this device; it worked out of the box with Windows 7, no special driver install necessary. Is there any way to accomplish this?     Hi All, I have tried to install a 32 bit Netegrity(CA) siteminder web agent on 64 bit Windows server 2003. The IIS server is V 6.0 and so it is also 64 bit. But the problem is while configuring the agent it is showing metabase error. Previously 64 bit web agent was installed on the same server and removed. The IIS V 6.0 is also reinstalled on the server. But after that when I tried to install 32 bit siteminder web agent, it is showing an error as said above. Is it possible to install a 32 bit siteminder web agent on 64 bit IIS?   • Fedora 12 - login panel: disable automatic login

    Hello Everybody I have just replaced my FC11 by the FC12. To put skype up and running I used autoten and choose to not have the automatic login enable. After running it the skype was working nicely. However the next time I restarted the machine, on the login panel appeared ""automatic login"" option. I went to /etc/gdm/custom.conf and added the command AutomaticLoginEnable=false Restart the system and although automatic login isn't active anymore, the ""automatic login"" option still appears as if it were an option to be picked from the login panel. I googled around but didn't find how to get rid of it. Any suggestions? All comments are highly appreciated.

  • Calculated control on subform based on current record

    I have the following: main form "customer" from a "customer" table. subform "invoices" with fields "invoice date", "invoice amount" "customer id" etc. from a table "invoices" whenever user clicks or goes to a record in the "invoices" sub form. I would like a "total so far" control to calculate the sum of the "invoices amount" up until the date of the current record being "clicked" or selected. i.e. for customer microsoft with invoices: 1) may 2 09, $150 2) may 3 09, $200 3) may 4 09, $500 If user clicks on record 2), "total so far" should show $350 If user clicks on record 1), "total so far" should show $150 If user clicks on record 3), "total so far" should show $850 Currently, I am using DSum function on an event "OnCurrent" in the subform "invoices" to set the "total so far" value. Is this method slow, inefficient? Any other simpler,cleaner,more elegant,faster, efficient method using ms access features? I want the "invoices" subform to show ALL the invoices for this customer no matter which record is clicked.

  • Mac Mini Wake on Lan

    My Mac Mini has a setting in the Energy Saver category called Wake for Ethernet network access. Now the way I read this option is that any network access to the Mac whilst it is asleep will wake it up, but it doesn't. I have read that I have to send it the magic packet to wake it up, but what I really want to do is be able to simply attempt to access the Mini over the network and it wake up on demand without sending a magic packet. Can this be done? If it helps I am using a Netgear router.
