  • Prevent PowerPoint from pausing when focus is lost

    I've written an app that allows me to start multiple PowerPoint presentations, each on its own monitor (this particular config has 4 monitors). The problem I have now is that only the presentation that has focus has any animation. The other 3 pause until they receive focus via mouse click. Is there any way to keep this pause behavior from happening? (trick PowerPoint into thinking that all 4 retain focus, or anything else to accomplish 4 simultaneously animated presentations...)

Is it possible to catch multiple exceptions (let the execution of the script continue) and then store the exceptions in a array to be able to return all exceptions caused? By that said, it would be awesome to be able to use exceptions to more than just showing an error that kills the application (script) Thanks!

  • Adding a generic image field onto a ModelForm in django

    I have two models, Room and Image. Image is a generic model that can tack onto any other model. I want to give users a form to upload an image when they post information about a room. I've written code that works, but I'm afraid I've done it the hard way, and specifically in a way that violates DRY. Was hoping someone who's a little more familiar with django forms could point out where I've gone wrong. Update: I've tried to clarify why I chose this design in comments to the current answers. To summarize: I didn't simply put an ImageField on the Room model because I wanted more than one image associated with the Room model. I chose a generic Image model because I wanted to add images to several different models. The alternatives I considered were were multiple foreign keys on a single Image class, which seemed messy, or multiple Image classes, which I thought would clutter my schema. I didn't make this clear in my first post, so sorry about that. Also is it possible to know on which thread a piece of code is currently running on? Basically I'd like to use sprng (parallel random numbers) with multiple streams and for that I need to know what stream id to use (and therefore what thread is being used).

I've got several small installations that need to be able to be deployed separately, but also as one group, and I'd like to not have to maintain multiple installers.     When writing PHP code for any given project, do you find you can write code off the top of your head? Or do you make multiple round trips to php.net? If it is the later, can you still be considered a good coder. This is a legitimate question as I find I have difficulty always remembering all of the functions that are available to me so I find I use php.net as a crutch. Is there anyway to improve this?

I am wondering what form of authentication would be best for my use? I have heard the if you are just dealing with a websites then a web form is for you (because it's prettier). HTTP header authentication with PHP is said to get clunky/sloppy. htAcess is pretty much the hard core of various authentication methods I have looked up, but is it too much?

  • When creating a WCF Service with NetTcpBinding, use endpoint "localhost" or machine's host name?

    I have a WCF service that uses the NetTcpBinding and is running within a Windows service. Remote clients connect to this service. So far, I have defined the endpoint to use "localhost". If the host machine has multiple network adapters, will it receive messages on all adapters? Would it be better to assign the machine's host name to the endpoint instead of "localhost"? What are the advantages/disadvantages?

    I have a document type which has multiple presentations. Say I want to display the document in an RCP editor with a customizable subset of those presentations, in a layout chosen by the user. One option that has come up is docking-like behavior for the panels inside an individual editor, with drag-and-drop, resizing, closing, maybe rollover and floating. Clearly this would need usability testing, but my question here is of feasibility. Are there any existing libraries or e4 plans to support behavior like this?

If the question has a YES answer, I would like a predefined ( per question ) section of text to be written to a DOC file on the server, but only AFTER the submit button has been pressed ( this way, if the user changes their mind and changes an answer form YES to NO, I won't have to re-write the doc ).   • Lazy loading the addthis script? (or lazy loading external js content dependent on already fired eve

    I want to have the addthis widget available for my users, but I want to lazy load it so that my page loads as quickly as possible. However, after trying it via a script tag and then via my lazy loading method, it appears to only work via the script tag. In the obfuscated code, I see something that looks like it's dependent on the DOMContentLoaded event (at least for firefox). Since the DOMContentLoaded event has already fired, the widget doesn't render properly. What to do? I could just use a script tag (slower)... or could I fire (in a cross browser way) the DOMContentLoaded (or equivalent) event? I have a feeling this may not be possible b/c I believe that (like jQuery) there are multiple tests of the content ready event, and so multiple simulated events would have to occur. Nonetheless, this is an interesting problem b/c I have seen a couple widgets now assume that you are including their stuff via static script tags. It would be nice if they wrote code that was more useful to developers concerned about speed, but until then, is there a work around?? And/or are any of my assumptions wrong? Edit: Because the 1st answer to the question seemed to miss the point of my problem, I wanted to clarify the situation. This is about a specific problem. I'm not looking for yet another lazy load script or check if some dependencies are loaded script. Specifically this problem deals with external widgets that you do not have control over and may or may not be obfuscated delaying the load of the external widgets until they are needed or at least, til substantially after everything else has been loaded including other deferred elements b/c of the how the widget was written, precludes existing, typical lazy loading paradigms While it's esoteric, I have seen it happen with a couple widgets - where the widget developers assume that you're just willing to throw in another script tag at the bottom of the page. I'm looking to save those 500-1000 ms** though as numerous studies by yahoo, google, and amazon show it to be important to your user's experience. **My testing with hammerhead and personal experience indicates that this will be my savings in this case.

    When building an Eclipse plugin (lato sensu) which consists of multiple plugins and one feature, I have two ways of specifying dependencies: in the plugins themselves, using Require-Bundle and Import-Package in META-INF/MANIFEST.MF; in the feature.xml file from the feature. In my understanding, it should be enough to declare the dependencies at the lower level, i.e. in the plugins. Why do we still have the feature.xml requires mechanism?
