  • Regex with all optional parts but at least one required

    I need to write a regex that matches strings like "abc", "ab", "ac", "bc", "a", "b", "c". Order is important and it shouldn't match multiple appearances of the same part. a?b?c? almost does the trick. Except it matches empty strings too. Is there any way to prevent it from matching empty strings or maybe a different way to write a regex for the task.

    I've read in multiple places, including highly recommended PHP books published several years ago, that PHP 6 was just over the horizon, and would fix several of the BIG outstanding issues with PHP (namely unicode support). However, its been several years even since I've read those books, and PHP 6 is still not considered kosher for production use. I found gems like six-rsync and rsync-update but they seem to be no general implementations. I'm looking for a pure Ruby solution, so no executables involved and preferably runnable on multiple OS. If possible a simple sample would be great. I only look for Rsync, no other transfer or backup solutions please.

  • sudo taking long time

    On a Ubuntu 9 64bit Linux machine, sudo takes longer time to start. "sudo echo hi" takes 2-3 minutes. strace on sudo tells poll("/etc/pam.d/system-auth", POLLIN) timesout after 5 seconds and there are multiple calls(may be a loop) to same system call (which causes 2-3min delay). Any idea why sudo has to wait for /etc/pam.d/system-auth? Any tunable to make sudo to timeout faster? Thanks Samuel

I do not want to change the tab text to "Loading..".     Just a thought. Wouldn't it be useful to have optional type parameters in C#? This would make life simpler. I'm tired of having multiple classes with the same name, but different type parameters. Also VS doesn't support this very vell (file names) :-) This would eliminate the need for a non-generic IEnumerable: interface IEnumerable<out T=object>{ IEnumerator<T> GetEnumerator() } What do you think?
