  • Can the Windows Phone 7 Series emulator be made to run XP?

    Well thats all there is to it...is this possible? I understand that officially it's not supported but has anyone figured it out? I have some work to do where XP would be the preferred platform. I would expect that users of the actual device are not required to use Windows 7 so it stands to reason that this can be done. Any poitners in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.     What happens to a dataset when your done using it. For example if I create and fill a dataset for a grid, when the user leaves that page or logs out I assume the dataset is still in memory? Does each user get their own instance of the dataset? In other words, if 2 users hit the same page that uses a grid are they each served their own instance of the dataset from server memory?

  • Which MS technologies would be suited for a data intensive application?

    I'm a junior VB.net developer with little application design knowledge. I've been reading a lot of material online regarding different design patterns, frameworks, and methodologies. It's become a bit confusing for me. Right now I'm trying to decide on what language would be best suited to convert an existing VB6 application (with SQL server backend.) I need to update the UI and add more user functionality and reporting capabilities. Initially I was thinking of using WPF and attempting the MVVM model for this big project. Reports would be generated from SSRS. A peer suggested using ASP.net and I don't have enough experience to determine what would be better. The senior programmers here are stuck on using VB6 and don't have any input on what to use. They are encouraging me to use the latest technologies. This application would be for ~20 users in a central location. Ideally I would stick to a Microsoft .net language. Current interface is similar to a datagrid table where the user would click in to see the detail of each record. They would need to have multiple records open at any given time. Yes, windows xp environment, potentially upgrading to Win7. Currently in IE.6 moving to IE7 or 8 within a couple of months. Do users need access from anywhere? No, just from their PC.

  • Is there a way to access Skype IM logs?

    I tried looking in C:\Users[name]\AppData\Roaming\Skype and I found a folder called "chatsync" with some mysterious folders with files ending in .dat. I'm almost certain that these are the chat logs but I don't know a way to properly open these files (notepad shows gibberish mixed with English words). I'm not trying to do sleuthing, just a project for my girlfriend. So more importantly: how can I read Skype's .dat files properly?

    Any tips How to figure out where is memory leak in my Facebook app, its ASPX using Facebook toolkit DLL and I am afraid the bug may be in that CS library. The problem is that after one week uptime, server is running out of memory and needs to be rebooted, there are quite many users and I cannot run debugger on this "production server", so I would need to simulate somehow use on my local PC.
