  • Extract new image dimensions from timthumb

    I'm using timthumb to resize my images because it scales them nicely if I only enter one of the dimensions. However I want to know if it's possible to extract the new resized image's dimensions so that I can add that dynamically to the img tag attributes. I tried this with no luck: $fullpath = '/lib/timthumb.php?src='.$image.'&w=100'; $my_image = array_values(getimagesize($fullpath)); list($width, $height, $type, $attr) = $my_image; Any ideas?

  • Convert a Dynamic[] construct to a numerical list

    I have been trying to put together something that allows me to extract points from a ListPlot in order to use them in further computations. My current approach is to select points with a Locator[]. This works fine for displaying points, but I cannot figure out how to extract numerical values from a construct with head Dynamic[]. Below is a self-contained example. By dragging the gray locator, you should be able to select points (indicated by the pink locator and stored in q, a list of two elements). This is the second line below the plot. Now I would like to pass q[[2]] to a function, or perhaps simply display it. However, Mathematica treats q as a single entity with head Dynamic, and thus taking the second part is impossible (hence the error message). Can anyone shed light on how to convert q into a regular list?     I am using html, tag: <input type = "file" /> On android and on many cellulars I have the ability to get the file directly by taking a picture and save it. How can I know (by javascript code) how did I get the picture (direcly by the camera, or by some files that on my cellular)? I did some workarround, and found exif (http://www.nihilogic.dk/labs/exif/exif.js), but I didn't succeed using it, either I don't know whether exif is the right solution. Thanks :)

  • Using FOR XML AUTO against a synonym

    We've just switched to synonyms for linked server stuff, and noticed that our FOR XML output is no longer correct. When returning XML results from a view, we could alias the view and that would be assigned as the element name. With synonyms, however, it seems to ignore the alias? We're still mostly on SQL 2005 - this bug doesn't seem to happen on our 2008 instance. Is this a known problem, and any ideas for work-arounds? For example, this is what we used to be able to do: select top 3 number from Numbers as elementname for xml auto <elementname number="0"/><elementname number="1"/><elementname number="2"/> And this is what happens with a synonym: select top 3 number from Numbers_synonym as elementname for xml auto <dbo.Numbers number="0"/><dbo.Numbers number="1"/><dbo.Numbers number="2"/> As you can see, SQL Server seems to use the name of the actual referenced object instead of the alias. This gets worse for cross server queries, because you get the four-part name instead of the nice alias. (eg: <rick_server.rick_database.dbo.Numbers number="0"/>...)

Now I need to implement a combobox (assume that I have got 2010, 2011,2012) to allow the user select a year . then when user clicks View or Modify link, which is placed in the table, selected year will be passed to another page as a parameter.     please read the whole question... 90% of you dont seem to do that and some of you only read the title obviously... and if you dont know the solution, dont answer - i wont have to downvote you -.-'' im entertaining the idea of getting random rows directly from mysql. what i found was SELECT * FROM tablename WHERE somefield='something' ORDER BY RAND() LIMIT 5 but even i see how slow that would be.. is the only way to do this doing something like SELECT * FROM tablename WHERE somefield='something' LIMIT RAND(aincrementvalue-5), 1 5 times? or is there a way that i with my little knowlege of databases cant come up with ? (no i dont want random indexes. i hate the idea of them...) @commenters - please first look, then think, then look again, think again and then post. i wont point fingers but i dislike stupid comments and why i think random indexes are a nasty hack ? it doesnt give you random results. it gives you x results from a random index in a predefined order its like a gapless id only in the wrong order if you fetch by 1 row and get true randomness you fall back to my method but with an additional junk field finally the reason the field exists is only to serve as a helper to something that can be done without it with almost same performance (but the quality (randomness) is better), so it is a nasty hack ;) i solved it, look @ my answer... if you think its incorrect please tell me :)

    Is it possible to have multiple has_many :through relationships that pass through each other in Rails? I received the suggestion to do so as a solution for another question I posted, but have been unable to get it to work. Friends are a cyclic association through a join table. The goal is to create a has_many :through for friends_comments, so I can take a User and do something like user.friends_comments to get all comments made by his friends in a single query. class User has_many :friendships has_many :friends, :through => :friendships, :conditions => "status = #{Friendship::FULL}" has_many :comments has_many :friends_comments, :through => :friends, :source => :comments end class Friendship < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :user belongs_to :friend, :class_name => "User", :foreign_key => "friend_id" end This looks great, and makes sense, but isn't working for me. This is the error I'm getting in relevant part when I try to access a user's friends_comments: ERROR: column users.user_id does not exist : SELECT "comments".* FROM "comments" INNER JOIN "users" ON "comments".user_id = "users".id WHERE (("users".user_id = 1) AND ((status = 2))) When I just enter user.friends, which works, this is the query it executes: : SELECT "users".* FROM "users" INNER JOIN "friendships" ON "users".id = "friendships".friend_id WHERE (("friendships".user_id = 1) AND ((status = 2))) So it seems like it's entirely forgetting about the original has_many through friendship relationship, and then is inappropriately trying to use the User class as a join table. Am I doing something wrong, or is this simply not possible?

    Is there a way to set the cursor at the end in a TEXTAREA tag? I'm using Firefox 3.6 and I don't need it to work in IE or Chrome. JavaScript is ok but it seems all the related answers in here use onfocus() event, which seems to be useless because when user clicks on anywhere within textarea, Firefox sets cursor position to there. I have a long text to display in a textarea so that it displays the last portion (making it easier to add something at the end).

  • Problem with SQL Server "EXECUTE AS"

    I've got the following setup: There is a SQL Server DB with several tables that have triggers set on them (that collect history data). These triggers are CLR stored procedures with EXECUTE AS 'HistoryUser'. The HistoryUser user is a simple user in the database without a login. It has enough permissions to read from all tables and write to the history table. When I backup the DB and then restore it to another machine (Virtual Machine in this case, but it does not matter), the triggers don't work anymore. In fact, no impersonation for the user works anymore. Even a simple statement such as this exec ('select 3') as user='HistoryUser' produces an error: Cannot execute as the database principal because the principal "HistoryUser" does not exist, this type of principal cannot be impersonated, or you do not have permission. I read in MSDN that this can occur if the DB owner is a domain user, but it isn't. And even if I change it to anything else (their recommended solution) this problem remains. If I create another user without login, I can use it for impersonation just fine. That is, this works just fine: create user TestUser without login go exec ('select 3') as user='TestUser' I do not want to recreate all those triggers, so is there any way how I can make the existing HistoryUser work? Bump: Sorry, but this is kinda urgent...

    I'm entirely new at SQL, but let's say that on the StackExchange Data Explorer, I just want to list the top 15 users by reputation, and I wrote something like this: SELECT TOP 15 DisplayName, Id, Reputation, Reputation/1000 As RepInK FROM Users WHERE RepInK > 10 ORDER BY Reputation DESC Currently this gives an Error: Invalid column name 'RepInK', which makes sense, I think, because RepInK is not a column in Users. I can easily fix this by saying WHERE Reputation/1000 > 10, essentially repeating the formula. So the questions are: Can I actually use the RepInK "column" in the WHERE clause? Do I perhaps need to create a virtual table/view with this column, and then do a SELECT/WHERE query on it? Can I name an expression, e.g. Reputation/1000, so I only have to repeat the names in a few places instead of the formula? What do you call this? A substitution macro? A function? A stored procedure? Is there an SQL quicksheet, glossary of terms, language specification, anything I can use to quickly pick up the syntax and semantics of the language? I understand that there are different "flavors"?

    I have a system I am trying to design that will retrieve information from a database, so that it can be plotted in a jquery graph. I need to retrieve the information and somehow put it in the necessary coordinates format (for example two coordinates var d = [[1269417600000, 10],[1269504000000, 15]];). My table that I am selecting from is a table that stores user votes with fields: points_id (1=vote up, 2=vote down), user_id, timestamp, topic_id What I need to do is select all the votes and somehow group them into respective days and then sum the difference between 1 votes and 2 votes for each day. I then need to somehow display the data in the appropriate plotting format shown earlier. For example April 1, 4 votes. The data needs to be separated by commas, except the last plot entry, so I am not sure how to approach that.
