  I set an request attribute in my action class as follows: request.setAttribute("xFg",Boolean.TRUE); I want to retrive this in my JSP. I want to retrive them using JSTL tags. I tried this : <c:if test="${requestScope.xFg}"> <c:set var="showlist" value="true" /> </c:if> But c:if didnt work, i mean it didnt goto c:set I tried to print the sameusing c:out but nothing got displayed. What is wrong or How should i test request attribute value. I havent used requestScope so far. Is requestScope the option to get the request value? pls help.Thanks in advance.

• How is my EditText content being saved?

  I created a simple app that has nothing except an EditText element. When I run the app, I type text into the element and then press Ctrl-F11 to change the emulator's orientation. I've added logging information to make sure that the activity gets destroyed and re-created when I change orientation. I haven't added any code to save the text in the EditText element and yet, after the change of orientation, the text that I typed stays in the EditText element. What mechanism in Android is saving and then restoring the element's text (is it savedInstanceState) and how can I see for myself the details of this saving operation?

  I've learned that OOP is all about data encapsulation, but what about passing data between classes that have nothing to do with each other (would the below example be worthy of using extends)? class Dog { private $secretVar; public function getSecretVar() { $this->secretVar = 'psst... only for rainbow!'; return $this->secretVar; } } class Rainbow { public function __construct(Dog $Dog) { print_r($Dog->getSecretVar()); } } $Dog = new Dog(); $Rainbow = new Rainbow($Dog); // ... classes that don't need the $secretVar How would you encapsulate $secretVar for only classes Dog and Rainbow? As of now, anyone can call getSecretVar(), and I'm having a hard time allowing that to happen as it seems to defeat the whole point of encapsulation.

This is a university program, everything is working fine except when I call my :forLoop method to iterate through 100 numbers (1,1,100) starting at 1 going by 1 til 100 and doing the iteration % 5 (i%%5). for some reason I cannot get this to work. appreciate any help or direction.   I have a table that every request to the server, stores on it. For each request I will check that it is banned or not. For example it is a query: select * from requests where request_sessID = '4bc0331d983000902b4718c80f12e9b3' AND request_time > (UNIX_TIMESTAMP() - 3600) AND request_isEnable = 1 I also set the engine from InnoDB to MyISAM and row_format to Dynamic but nothing changed. • Why isn't this working - using :not() with an event handler

  I seem to have another issue that I am not conquering. Real simple premise. I have a mousedown event, and basically IF one particular element on the page is clicked, I want nothing to happen, else I want hide() some div. $(function(){ $("document :not(#_ignorelement)").mousedown(function(event){ if($('#_hidethiselement').length){ $('#_hidethiselement').hide(); } }) }) That is not working at all. I also tried the following: $(document).not($("#_ignorelement")).mousedown(function(event){ $(document).not("_ignorelement").mousedown(function(event){ IF I can solve that, curious how I would actually have ":not" encompass the parent div, like so: $().not("_ignoreelement").parent().closest('div').mousedown(function Because the element "_ignorelement" is an anchor tag that is in a div. Wonder how I can use the parent div perhaps, instead of the anchor tag. Anyways, any help would be appreciated.

• CSS: Is it possible to have a 3-column layout with BOTH the left column and center column flexibly filling the space?

  It is possible to use position:absolute and left and right on the middle column to set where it ends in relation to the parent div. However I'd like to be able to have the left side of the center div to start right where the left column ends, and for the left column to be adjustable (based on its content). This seems like a really basic thing but from what I understand there is no way to do this without flexboxes. Is this true? Is there nothing I could do with clever nesting of semantically superfluous elements and certain styles set to auto?

• Why can't I decrease the line-height of this text?

  http://jsfiddle.net/mJxn4/ This is very odd: I have a few lines of text wrapped in an <em> tag. No matter what I do, lowering the value for line-height below 17px has no effect. I can bump the line-height up to greater than 17px and it'll apply, but I can't get it lower than 17px. The CSS in question is: #others .item em { font-size: 13px; line-height: 17px; } Try adjusting the line height both higher and lower and run the updated fiddle after each change, and you'll see what I mean. Why would this be? No line-height is specified anywhere else in the CSS, so nothing is overriding it. That couldn't be the case anyway because I'm adjusting the line-height up and down within the same selector, so it doesn't make sense that a higher value would apply, but a lower value would get overridden.

  I've searched and search not only google but also here and still have to find a solution that will work. I have a div that is hidden by default, then toggled by clicking on a link. I also want it to hide when you click outside of the div. Simple, I thought, but nothing I've tried had worked yet. • Are there any javascript string formatting operations similar to the way %s is used in Python?

  I've been writing a lot of javascript, and when I want to stick a variable in a string, I've been doing it like so: $("#more_info span#author").html("Created by: <a href='/user/" + author + "'>" + author + "</a>"); I feel like it's pretty ugly and a pain to write over and over. In python the %s operator makes this problem easy. Even in C, I can do sprintf (IIRC). Is there anything like that in javascript? (Lots of google'ing yielded nothing.)

Even if a reader is unfamiliar with ZuckerReports or SugarCRM some general advice on Java may be of use to me. I have installed ZuckerReports v1.12 in SugarCRM 5.5.1. The installation in which the report runs correctly is of the same version, and has the same version of the ZuckerReports module. The report previously ran correctly on both installations. I think that the only changes that have been made on the installation in which the report now does not work since the report was last successfully run are the additions of a few custom fields in the Contacts module. These changes should have nothing to do with ZuckerReports. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the ZuckerReports module, but the problem remains. A google search for the warnings given in the error message ie. * log4j:WARN No appenders could be found for logger (net.sf.jasperreports.extensions.ExtensionsEnviron ment). * log4j:WARN Please initialize the log4j system properly. Returns a few links (not specific to ZuckerReports) with tips similar to the following: * log4j.properties or log4j.xml needs to be on the classpath where log4j can find it. I cannot find a file with either of those names anywhere on my server, and yet the report can be run successfully on one of my SugarCRM installations. So I figure log4j must be being configured another way. Can anyone suggest a way to solve this problem? Or explain how I might discover how log4j is configured in ZuckerReports? Or explain how I might compare the working with the non-working installation in order to help find a solution? (I have tried searching for files containing "log4j" in both installations and comparing but all I can find are .jar files (nothing I can read with a text editor), and the .jar files found in each installation appear to be the same.)

• Cannot Start Nginx Compiled from Source

  I am trying to compile Nginx from source based on the original compiled Nginx server running on my DigitalOcean server ( Ubuntu-14.04 64x ) but with a few extra modules. I can get everything installed smoothly but I can not get it to start. I am sure the ini is correct because I copied the original source off the current running Nginx server [ Even though I see that Nginx now adds the ini when compiling fron source ]. And now to start the server: service nginx start And this is where s#!+ hits the fan - Nada. I check to see if Nginx is running with service --status-all and its not. Also with nginx -V and its not installed??? I reboot the system too and still nothing. So I am not sure what is wrong here. The ini was copied over from the old server along with all the other config files after deleting the old files. When I opened the new compiled files, the nginx default data was present so I replaced them with my old original data prior to starting the new server for the first time. Also to be safe, I rm /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/default and symlinked with ln -s /etc/nginx/sites-available/default /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/default with no errors and I verified that the data was in the sites-enabled/default file. I don't think the server really/fully installed because of the nginx -V result: The program 'nginx' can be found in the following packages: * nginx-core * nginx-extras * nginx-full * nginx-light * nginx-naxsi Try: apt-get install <selected package> Do/should I apt-get install nginx-1.7.4 ?? Or what package do I use being that its a custom package and make install earlier did nothing?? • Creating static NAT blocks outbound traffic Cisco ASA

  Hi Everyone, I have two web servers sitting behind a Cisco ASA 5505, which I don't have much experience with. I'm trying to create two static NATs. One static NAT that goes to xx.xx.xx.150 and another that goes to xx.xx.xx.151. I've created the static NAT for the .150 web server and it works FINE. Incoming and outgoing traffic work great. This is the staging web server. I now need to duplicate the setup for the production web server. So, I connect the webserver to the firewall, change the public IP address on one of the NICs reboot the server and I have outbound internet access. Then I run the command: static (inside,outside) xx.xx.xx.150 192.168.1.x which is successful. I then run the command: access-list acl-outside permit tcp any host xx.xx.xx.150 eq 80 Which is successful. I then try to browse the internet and I get nothing. I try to telnet in through port 80 and I get nothing (though I'm guessing because the response to the telnet request is being blocked). I've tried this with the production web server and then I tried it with another web server that is for internal testing and have the exact same problem. Both work fine until I run the static NAT rule and then no outbound internet access. I have a feeling that it's something simple that I'm missing, but my limited experience with this device is killing me. Below I've pasted the current configuration. I'm currently trying to get this to work on the .153 server which is the internal testing server. • Forensic Analysis of the OOM-Killer

  Ubuntu's Out-Of-Memory Killer wreaked havoc on my server, quietly assassinating my applications, sendmail, apache and others. I've managed to learn what the OOM Killer is, and about its "badness" rules. While my machine is small, my applications are even smaller, and typically only half of my physical memory is in use, let alone swap-space, so I was surprised. I am trying to work out the culprit, but I don't know how to read the OOM-Killer logs. Can anyone please point me to a tutorial on how to read the data in the logs (what are ve, free and gen?), or help me parse these logs? Its job is to restart one of the applications if it dies, so a bit ironic that it is the first to get killed. Tail was monitoring a few logs files. Unlikely to be consuming memory madly. The apache web-server only serves pages to a little old lady who only uses it to get to church on Sundays a couple of developers who were in bed asleep, and hadn't visited a page on the site for a few weeks. The only traffic it might have had is from the port-scanners; all the content is password-protected and not linked from anywhere, so no spiders are interested. Python is running two separate custom applications. Nothing in the logs to suggest they weren't humming along as normal. One of them was a relatively recent implementation, which makes suspect #1. It doesn't have any data-structures of any significance, and normally uses only about 8% of the total physical RAW. It hasn't misbehaved since. The grep is suspect #2, and the one I want to be guilty, because it was a once-off command. The command (which piped the output of a grep -r to another grep) had been started at least 30 minutes earlier, and the fact it was still running is suspicious. However, I wouldn't have thought grep would ever use a significant amount of memory. It took a while for the OOM killer to get to it, which suggests it wasn't going mad, but the OOM killer stopped once it was killed, suggesting it may have been a memory-hog that finally satisfied the OOM killer's blood-lust.

root's .profile and .shrc, tmux works perfectly. Recently I changed architectures, from FreeBSD 10.0 i386 to amd64, and I am still working through shared library incompatibilities. I suspect that this could be involved, but I can't imagine how an incompatibility of this sort could result in such a specific, isolated failure.

  Have Ubuntu 11.10 with vsftpd installed and working. Can not get virtual users setup at all? Vsftpd will allow main Ubuntu owner account to login, but nothing else? I've followed several tutorials on adding virtual users, but nothing works? I just need to add 2 virtual users and have them be able to upload files to vsftpd Ubuntu computer from other computers on my Lan network. Everywhere I've looked, people just point toward tutorials on adding virtual users, but that just is NOT working. I've been struggling with this for over a week now! PLEASE Help. Thanks. • Our embedded linux system won't recognize a USB Device if it is plugged in before powerup. Suggestions?

  We are developing on a small embedded device. This device us a gumstix overo board running OpenEmbedded linux. We have our development almost completely done, and have run into the strangest of bugs that we can't figure out. We have a USB Device (Spectrophotometer) that has a USB2.0 Connection and an external power supply for the light source. Typical behavior is that you plug in the power supply, then the USB connection to a host. When the usb connection is detected by the device, the device boots up and enables the light source and fan. The device is then able to be used by the host system. The problem is that if the device is plugged into the Gumstix before we turn on the Gumstix, the USB Device apparently is not probed by the system (and hence does not turn on). Under a normal situation, when the connection is initialized by plugging in the usb cable, the spectro turns itself on and becomes available to the system (this can be seen via "lsusb" typically). Neither of these things are happening. There is no device detected via "lsusb" and no dmesg errors of any kind that we can see. It is as if the device is not plugged in. The device does show up and work fine if we unplug the USB cable and plug it back in once the system is booted up. It turns on and shows up on the usb bus, and we can access it with our driver. On any other desktop or laptop, it does not matter if the host system is on or off when we plug in the spectrometer. This behavior is what I would consider to be "normal" - that the usb system is probed and initialized at boot time, and the usb devices come online. In other words, our system is fully functional as long as we plug in the usb device after the system is booted up. Unfortunately this isn't possible in our final product - everything comes on at once. Additional Info: 1) We have tried a flash drive attached to the system when the system is turned off. Booting up the system brings the flash drive online, as expected 2) There are no messages regarding the spectro or usb device (using dmesg). "lsusb" only lists the USB hubs / controllers. It is literally as if the device is not present and not plugged in. 3) We have tried a brand new image from gumstix and an older image from last year. Both images have this problem. This problem exists on all 3 gumstix devices we use. Does anyone have any suggestions? From what I can tell it isn't really possible to do a complete "reboot" of the usb system that is a complete emulation of "unplugging" and "replugging" a usb device. I feel like what is happening is that there is no initial probe on the usb bus that would trigger the usb handshaking, but this is somehow specific to the spectro. This seems to be a kernel issue or at least an issue in how the kernel is initializing the usb subsystem. I'm not really sure though. I have tried the gumstix mailing list, but there doesn't seem to be anyone who has seen this issue before. Any advice or suggestions on where to start looking would be fantastic. Thank you! • Can't install any drivers at all on Windows 8. Error 0x000003F9

  I suddenly can't install any drivers at all on my Windows 8 Pro x64 install. It doesn't matter what kind of driver it is, nothing will install. Everything ends with error 0x000003F9: The system has attempted to load or restore a file into the registry, but the specified file is not in a registry file format. When Windows Update tries to install a driver, it just gives error code 800703F9 and says that "Windows Update ran into a problem." I've already done a scan of system files with sfc, tried another user account, done a chkdsk, and a few more things, but nothing works. The problem started when I tried to install drivers for my printer earlier today and suddenly started getting messages saying that "Windows Modules Installer has stopped working." I decided to restart and was being greeted with the recovery boot options. I shut the computer down, but when I booted it back up the same thing happened, so I did a repair your pc, and was able to boot into the OS properly. Then I rebooted into my external drive and did a chkdsk on the Windows 8 install that started acting funny. When I booted back into Windows 8, I wasn't able to install any drivers. They all keep coming up with the same error. And I can't seem to find anything at all on this issue. Any help would be much appreciated.
