  • WSUS moved how to reset the database and check the folders?

    I have a bit of a problem with a WSUS box, I backed up the WsusContent folder (about 180 gig) to a second machine, wiped the first machine then realized I don't have the database folder! I can not find any articles / guidance on this, I have re installed WSUS however it does not find the other files which where previsously downloaded (I guess the database being the reason). If I do a reset it will force it to download the ones it has again I guess and does not check what is still to be downloaded? Sigh... love / hate WSUS at the moment with a passion :) Thanks for any help.

  • Get percentage free space on database volumes w/ SQL Server 2005?

    I am currently using SQL Server 2005 and (undocumented I believe) master..xp_fixeddrives to get free space on my database volumes as part of my monitoring. However, this only gives me an absolute number of MB free. What I really need is percentage free. Is there another way in SQL Server 2005 to get this? If not, is there some other light-weight way to get it? If I can, I want to avoid installing a Java JRE, or Perl, or Python on my database server. Perhaps vbscript, or a small Windows executable on the file system? Yes, I know I can Google this, and I have. It looks like there are a few ways to accomplish it, and I'm curious how my DBA brethren have handled this.

    Excuse me for being naive. But I'm a newbie. We have a Windows Web Server within DMZ and a Windows Application Server and MS SQL Database Server. What ports do we open for connection between them? For example: Someone opens the Data Driven Website on the Web Server and they should be able see the data that the website is trying to access from the Database. Currently, I'm planning to open the following ports on the Web Server to establish the access, 80 HTTP 443 HTTPS 21 FTP 3389 RDP 53 DNS 1433 MS SQL Server Please validate my assumption. I would highly appreciate your help. Also, please provide me any articles on this topic so that I can read.

    Copy list of file names to text file? I am linking the above page because of its relevance to my question. Is there anything similar that can be done to output a 'plain' looking text file (or xml or csv file) with basically the same data that the following cmd prompt produces: dir > c:\list.txt However only difference I need is the runtime of any and all video files included in the outputted file. Can this easily be done? Please let me know whether this can be done in the python terminal as well since I am familiar with that was well as Microsoft's dos prompt. Thank you so very much.

  • What questions do I need to ask for a database sync?

    I am currently helping to implement an RFID inventory management system for my company. The software that we are locked into has been at best buggy and unreliable. The software provider is now rolling out a major release. My problem is that the new software release keeps a local database on each machine that then syncs to a master database online. According to the software company we cannot do a scaled rollout because of data corruption issues between the software releases. What questions can I be asking and what sort of testing can I do on my end to make sure this software works? Any suggestions would be very helpful.

  • Problem accessing MICROSOFT##SSEE database (Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 16.)

    After an unexpected server shutdown due to a power failure, I can no longer connect to the internal windows database MICROSOFT##SSEE which is hosting Central Admin for my SBS 2008 server. The log shows: Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 16. Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE'. [CLIENT: <named pipe>] I've tried to connect using the SQL Management studio (connecting to .pipemssql$microsoft##sseesqlquery) but no luck. The SQL Server Configuration Manager doesn't show a entry for 'Protocols for MICROSOFT##SSEE' (but shows it for 2 other database hosted on the same SQL server 2005 Express edition. I have tried to restore the master.ldf and mastlog.log files from a backup, but the issue persists.

  • non-interactive ssh sudo... prompts for the password in plain text

    I'm running some non-interactive ssh commands. The ssh authentication is taken care of fine through the ssh agent, but if I run a command that requires sudo then the password prompt in my terminal is plain text. For example: ssh remotemachine "sudo -u www mkdir -p /path/to/new/folder" will prompt me for the password in plain text. Does anyone know how I can get it to use the normal secure prompt or that I can pass the password via a switch? (as then I can set up a secure prompt on this side before I send the command) Any help is much appreciated.

  • How to move your focus out of the text?

    I've got a PDF open in Acrobat. I like to scroll the "standard" way, where I can press the arrow key up to go up by a line or two, and the arrow key down for the opposite. But sometimes I accidentally click the text, and then suddenly the arrow keys control moving the cursor around inside the page instead, so I have to hold it down and move the cursor all the way to the bottom of the page before it'll start scrolling the page down, and then all the way back up if I want to go up again. I can't find any way to move focus out of the text once I've clicked it. I actually have to close Acrobat and reopen the PDF. It's kind of amazing. Solutions?

AdventureWorks have replaced Northwind and Pubs from the sample database in SQL Server 2005. The Microsoft team keeps updating the sample database as they release new versions. I use the AdventureWorks database for most of my example, as it is easy to use sample database which is accessible for most of the people out there.   • Difference between Detach/Attach and Restore/BackUp a DB

    Transact-SQL BACKUP/RESTORE is the normal method for database backup and recovery. Databases can be backed up while online. The backup file size is usually smaller than the database files since only used pages are backed up. Also, in the FULL or BULK_LOGGED recovery model, you can reduce potential data loss by performing transaction log backups. Detaching a database removes the database from SQL Server while leaving the physical database files intact. This allows you to rename or move the physical files and then re-attach. Although one could perform cold backups using this technique, detach/attach isn't really intended to be used as a backup/recovery process. Commonly it is recommended that you use BACKUP/RESTORE for disaster recovery (DR) scenario and copying data from one location to another. But this is not absolute, sometimes for a very large database, if you want to move it from one location to another, backup/restore process may spend a lot of time which you do not like, in this case, detaching/attaching a database is a better way since you can attach a workable database very fast. But you need to aware that detaching a database will bring it offline for a short time and detaching/attaching does not provide DR function.     Hi community! I have an ArrayCollection of objects. I'm passing this array to a horizontallist as a dataprovider and I'm using a custom itemRenderer.     Hi, Its been a couple of weeks that some sites just keeps on hanging. e.g. Facebooks = static.ak.fbcdn.net FLicker = l.yimg.com GoogleAnalytics I've googled and found many problems like this and some answers which are outdated or just doesn't solve the problem. I did: Cookies clearing, ran cc cleaner and several other nifty methods. None solved my problem?? Only with facebook, if I enter https:// manually instead of http:// on every url on facebook, it works and when it does the redirection to http://, everytime I have to type 's' on the address bar to make it https:// It is driving me nuts coz I'm developing Facebook App and this problem in being pain in my ass. What might be the reason for these CDNs hanging behaviour??   • missing table in SQLite with specific version of HTC DESIRE HD

    My application has a SQLite database in the asset folder. When the user launches my application, the database is created and the tables too. This works fine with a lot of devices (Nexus One, Htc Magic, SGS, X10… and even Htc Desire HD v2.2). My application works with all versions of Android (tested on my device (1.6, 2.2, 2.2.1 Htc Magic) and on the emulator (v1,5 until v2.3). I have just a problem with HTC DESIRE HD v2.2.1 1.72.405.3.   • Why doesn't jquery .load() load a text file from an external website?

    In the example below, when I click the button, it says "Load was performed" but no text is shown. I have a clientaccesspolicy.xml in the root directory and am able to asynchronously load the same file from silverlight. So I would think I should be able to access from AJAX as well.   • asp.net, how to change text color to red in child nodes in VB codes?

    I got everything worked now by list of server Name but I want to add a IF statement by checking a column from SQL Server called Compliance by either True or False value listed. If it False, the Name will change text color to Red. If it True, the Name won't change text color. I am not sure how add that in VB codes side. I am pretty sure that I would need to put IF statement inside While dr.Read(). I am pretty new to VB.Net and not sure which VB code that change text color.   • How do you keep the text selection on a DataGridView?

    I'm running C# 2.0, and I've written an application with a DataGridView in virtualmode and a TreeView in the same form, but in different panels of a SplitContainer. My application has a "find all" function that finds all instances of a certain string, and adds them as the child nodes to a new node to the TreeView (it's a tree view because you can have multiple search results by having different root nodes). That idea is that when you click on one of those search results in the TreeView, that it would select the specific text of that result in the DataGridView (Virtually the same as Notepad++'s find all function) When I click on the TreeView, it does set the selected cell of the DataGridView and highlight the specific text, but it loses that specific text selection instantly (but keeps the cell selection) because by clicking on the TreeView the DataGridView loses focus.
