• Using Moq at Blend design time

  This might be a bit out there, but suppose I want to use Moq in a ViewModel to create some design time data, like so: public class SomeViewModel { public SomeViewModel(ISomeDependency dependency) { if (IsInDesignMode) { var mock = new Mock<ISomeDependency>(); dependency = mock.Object; // this throws! } } } The mock could be set up to do some stuff, but you get the idea. My problem is that at design-time in Blend, this code throws an InvalidCastException, with the message along the lines of "Unable to cast object of type 'Castle.Proxies.ISomeDependencyProxy2b3a8f3188284ff0b1129bdf3d50d3fc' to type 'ISomeDependency'." While this doesn't necessarily look to be Moq related but Castle related, I hope the Moq example helps ;) Any idea why that is? Thanks!

• How to specify behavior of Java BufferedImage resize: need min for pixel rows instead of averaging

  I would like to resize a Java BufferedImage, making it smaller vertically but without using any type of averaging, so that if a pixel-row is "blank" (white) in the source image, there will be a white pixel-row in the corresponding position of the destination image: the "min" operation. The default algorithms (specified in getScaledInstance) do not allow me a fine-grained enough control. I would like to implement the following logic: for each pixel row in the w-pixels wide destination image, d = pixel[w] find the corresponding j pixel rows of the source image, s[][] = pixel[j][w] write the new line of pixels, so that d[i] = min(s[j][i]) over all j, i I have been reading on RescaleOp, but have not figured out how to implement this functionality -- it is admittedly a weird type of scaling. Can anyone provide me pointers on how to do this? In the worse case, I figure I can just reserve the destination ImageBuffer and copy the pixels following the pseudocode, but I was wondering if there is better way.

  If I look at the Freebase page for the band '311', I see Chad Sexton listed. http://www.freebase.com/view/en/311 I am trying to query for the members of a band : { "name" : "311", "/music/artist/album" : [{"name":null, "id":null, "optional": true}], "type|=" : ["/music/artist","/music/musical_group"], "/award/award_winner/awards_won" : ["award":null, "optional" => true], "/award/award_nominated_work/award_nominations" : ["award":null, "optional" => true], "/music/artist/supporting_artists":[{}] } I thought supporting_artists would return the band member names, but the array is always empty. But if I query for all properties related to Chad Sexton, I don't see 311 mentioned. • WIX will not add HKLM registry setting during Windows 7 install

  Good Morning, I have written a WiX installer that works perfectly with Windows XP but when installing to a Windows 7 box I am running into difficulty with Registry Entries. What I need to do is add a HKLM entry as well as the registry entry for the program to show in the start menu. • How can I retain the editing in the search result with UISearchDisplayController?

  I want to search a table in editing mode, but when I type a letter the variable tableView.editing is changed to NO. And when I cancel the search, the tableView.editing return to YES. I'd like to retain the editing YES in the result of the search. I put breakpoint in several methods. The entity class has arraylist and on trying to retrieve the data from data base I'm getting the exception: Type 'org.datanucleus.sco.backed.ArrayList' was not included in the set of types which can be serialized by this SerializationPolicy or its Class object could not be loaded. For security purposes, this type will not be serialized. I'm using JPA.   Hi, I want to transfer HTML from my app to the iPhone mail application. I already have the HTML text - lest say <span style='color:red'Test</span I can place this to UIPasteBoard - but when I paste it to mail I get the html source. When I place the same string in a HTMLView - select it there and copy it it pastes as red text in mail. What do I have to do to place the string in the UIPasteBoard so that it pastes as red text to the mail application? I've been searching for "format types" - and found that UIPasteBoard returns "Aplle Web Archive pasteboard type" when I have the element (copied from UIWebView) in the clipboard. But setting this as type when adding the content to UIPasteBoard pastes nothing in the mail app. Manfred

  I would like to ask if you know how to fix a corrupted USB? I've tried the diskpart command but it didn't work. The media is write protected. Do you have any idea that is much better? I need to fix it because I have important files in my flash drive. I really need to retrieve it. I saw that the file system is seen as RAW and is unaccessible. I tried error checking, but it requires you to format it. I tried data recovery software but all files come out corrupted. My USB is Imation 4GB. Any suggestions?

• Rails: radio button selection for nested forms objects

  I have the following form for photo_album which uses the nested forms feature of the Rails in saving the photos while updating the photo_album. And having trouble with the selection of radio button value. I want only one of the photos be able to select as the album cover, but due to the way rails produces form element ids and names, I am able to select all of the photos as album covers.   Hi all, I have a question about how to make multiple clients can access a single file located on server side and keep the file consistent. I have a simple PhoneBook server-client Jini program running at the moment, and server only provides some getter functions to clients, such as getName(String number), getNumber(String name) from a PhoneBook class(serializable), phonebook data are stored in a text file (phonebook.txt) at the moment. I have tried to implement some functions allowing to write a new records into the phonebook.txt file. If the writing record (name) is existing, an integer number will be added into the writing record. for example the existing phonebook.txt is .... John 01-01010101 .... if the writing record is "John 01-12345678",then "John_1 01-12345678" will be writen into phonebook.txt However, if i start with two clients A and B (on the same machine using localhost), and A tries to write "John 01-11111111", B tries to write "John 01-22222222". The early record will be overwritten later record. So, there must be something i did complete wrong. My client and server code are just like Jini HelloWorld example. My server side code is . 1. LookupDiscovery with parameter new String[]{""}; 2. DiscoveryListener for LookupDiscovery 3. registrations are saved into a HashTable 4. for every discovered lookup service, i use registrar to register the ServiceItem, ServiceItem contains a null attributeSets, a null serviceId, and a service. The client code has: 1. LookupDiscovery with parameter new String[]{""}; 2. DiscoveryListener for LookupDiscovery 3. a ServiceTemplate with null attributeSets, a null serviceId and a type, the type is the interface class. 4. for each found ServiceRegistrar, if it can find the looking for ServiceTemplate, the returned Object is cast into the type of the interface class. I have tried to google more details, and i found JavaSpace could be the one i missed. But i am still not sure about it (i only start Jini for a very short time). So any help would be greatly appreciated.

• Fastest way to call a COM objects method without using a RCW

  I'm trying to find the cleanest and fastest way for calling a COM objects methods. I was using a RCW for the object but every time a new version of the third party COM object comes out its GUID changes which then renders the RCW useless, so I had to change and start using Type mytype = Type.GetTypeFromProgID("MyCOMApp.Application"); so that every time a new version of the COM object comes out I don't have to recomplie and redeploy my app. At the moment I am using refelection like mytype.InvokeMemeber but I feel it is so slow compared to just calling the RCW. How does everyone else tackle the problem of changing 3rd party COM object versions, but still maintaining the speed of a RCW?

• Avoid implicit conversion from date to timestamp for selects with Oracle 11g using Hibernate

  I'm using Hibernate 3.2.1 criteria queries to select rows from an Oracle 11g database, filtering by a timestamp field. The field in question is of type java.util.Date in Java, and DATE in Oracle. It turns out that the field gets mapped to java.sql.Timestamp, and Oracle converts all rows to TIMESTAMP before comparing to the passed in value, bypassing the index and thereby ruining performance. One solution would be to use Hibernate's sqlRestriction() along with Oracle's TO_DATE function. That would fix performance, but requires rewriting the application code (lots of queries). So is there a more elegant solution? Since Hibernate already does type mapping, could it be configured to do the right thing?

  I have the following two lines in the head section in my masterpage: <link rel="shortcut icon" href="/Content/Images/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" /> <link rel="icon" href="/Content/Images/favicon.ico" type="image/ico" /> However, the favicon is not displayed in Internet Explorer (version 6, 7, 8). In Firefox and Safari the favicon works fine. I have even tried to replace href with the URL to my website (http://www......./Content/Images/favicon.ico) but that still does not work in Internet Explorer. Am I missing something?
