  • Java interface to Windows communications? (OLE, OPC, DDE)

    I need to integrate an off-the-shelf Windows application with a Java application. At a few key points, I need the Windows application to send an "event" and some data to the Java application. The Windows application anticipated this need, and can be configured to "Poke a DDE Item", "Set an OLE Auto-Property" or "Write an OPC Item". I'm already using JACOB to call COM methods and set COM properties on a COM object. However, I'm guessing that's pretty unrelated to these "event" notification capabilities. Anyone have any experience calling FROM a Windows application to a "DDE Item", "OLE Auto-Property" or "OPC Item" that's actually in a JVM? Any pointers, advice, etc, would be appreciated.

  • Why is C# winforms application not working without VS.NET installed?

    Hi folks, I have a winforms c# app that has an embedded webbrowser control inside it generated through VS.NET 2008. We sink events by inheriting our events class from HTMLDocumentEvents2. public class IEHTMLDocumentEvents : mshtml.HTMLDocumentEvents2 { public bool onclick(mshtml.IHTMLEventObj pEvtObj) { // Clicking on an input (checkbox, radio, button, image) if (pEvtObj.srcElement.tagName == "INPUT") { // The following will result in a null pointer without VS.NET installed HTMLInputElementClass input = pEvtObj.srcElement as HTMLInputElementClass; } } } The code above works fine when clicking on elements in the webbrowser control on our dev machines with VS.NET installed. However it fails to cast the pEvtObj.srcElement when VS.NET is not installed. This immediately starts working when we install the most basic VS.NET with C# that you can. To note: The rest of the c# app works fine, and you can browser the web through the control fine as well, just that the events like the above 'onclick' can't be handled properly.   • firefox, jQuery ajax calls firing twice and never triggering success or error functions

    Hi, I am developing with the .NET framework, using jQuery 1.4.2 client side. When developing in Firefox version 3.6, every so often an one of the many ajax calls I make on the page will fire twice, the second will return successfully but will not trigger the success handler of the ajax call and the first never returns anything. So basically the data is all sent to the server and response is sent down but nothing happens with the response. Here is an example of the call I am making. It happens to any of the ajax calls, so there is not one particular that is causing the problem: $.ajax({ type:"POST", contentType : "application/json; charset=utf-8", data:"{}", dataType:"json", success:function(){ alert('success'); }, error:function(){ alert('error'); }, url:'/services.aspx/somemethod' }); }) From firebug, here are the headers of the first call which in firebug shows as never completely responding, meaning i see no response code and the loader gif in the firebug never goes away. I have seen this article about firefox 3.5+ and preflighted requests https://developer.mozilla.org/En/HTTP_access_control#Preflighted_requests In the article is says if a "POST" is made with any other content type than "application/x-www-form-urlencoded, multipart/form-data, or text/plain" than the request is pre-flighted. If this is the case, this should happen to all of my calls. Thanks

    Hi guys I have a google apps account set up and even set up a simple hello world application from the available samples on the tutorial however I need to set it so I am able to interact with the google docs account associated with the account which has added my application. To interact with google docs I am aware that a token is requested from google upon authentication and verification of the account however that is in a situation where you code specifically for interacting with google docs - I'm talking about having access to the google docs of the account which has added my application so my application can be used to upload documents to the google docs and make references to them - basically my application is a resource management application and it needs to be able to store references to google docs.

    I'm having trouble running basic opencv scripts on my new machine. I've installed opencv2.1. I am linking these files: C:\OpenCV2.1\lib\cv210.lib C:\OpenCV2.1\lib\cvaux210.lib C:\OpenCV2.1\lib\cxcore210.lib C:\OpenCV2.1\lib\highgui210.lib from the linker. I run the program, it compiles. However, it gives me the error stated above. Why is that? I tried linking to the dll it describes, and it doesn't like that either.

To be more specific: I need to create one specific thread with higher native stack size than the default one, but in case then user want to take care of such things by himself by specifying -Xss option I want to create all threads with default stack size (which will be specified by user in -Xss option). I've checked classes like java.lang.System and java.lang.Runtime, but these aren't giving me information about vmargs. Is there any way to get information I need?

  • ASP.NET Projects with Two Versions of AjaxControlToolkit

    In my Solution I have three projects. Project A is a web app and uses version 1.0.10618.0 of the AjaxControlToolkit. I would love to upgrade it to the latest but unfortunately any newer release completely breaks a portion of my site. Project B is also a web app but is a completely new software product and so it uses (and relies on) the latest version of the AjaxControlToolkit. Everything works great. Thought A and B are totally different products they use the same DB and rely on the same ClassLibrary. Project C is a small web app that ties A and B together with certain functionality like forgot password pages. The pages in this app reside in a virtual directory of both A and B. Project C currently uses v1.0.10618.0 of the toolkit so it works with Project A but it fails with project B because the manifest definitions of the dlls don't match (to be expected). What I've done is built a new dll of the toolkit and changed the assembly and namespace to AjaxControlToolkit_v1 and then changed all v1 references to this new dll so the old version and new versions can sit side by side in the same bin folder and nobody complains. I then changed my web.config controls tag to look like this: <add tagPrefix="ajaxToolkit" namespace="AjaxControlToolkit_v1" assembly="AjaxControlToolkit_v1, Version=1.0.10618.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=28f01b0e84b6d53e"/> This all works except I get a runtime error of: Unknown server tag 'ajaxToolkit:AnimationExtender'. I can't figure out why this is, any ideas on how to remedy it?

  • How do I call window.openDatabase from a webView hosted in an android application?

    I created a native Android app that basically hosts a webView control. That webView is then used to load a page that calls window.openDatabase from JavaScript. I can successfully confirm that the API exists by verifying window.openDatabase. Calling this method returns a null when called in a hosted webView control. Calling the same method in the Android Browser returns an instance of the database. Does anyone know the permessions in the manifest or settings on the webView control that need to be set to access the database? Is this even possible in a native app.

    This may sound very noobish, but I can't seem to get my app to my blackberry. I was trying to follow the beginning blackberry development book's guide, but maybe I just missed the point somewhere. For remote download, Is it really as simple as drop the COD and JAD files in the same folder on your server then just navigate to the URL with your device's browser? The book says it should prompt a download screen, but all I get is a page full of cryptic characters. My app is a simple slideshow. Uses no signed things and is not MDS enabled. Did I forget something? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    I would like some advice on the best approach to use in the following situation... I will have a Windows Application and a Web Application (presentation layers), these will both access a common business layer. The business layer will look at a configuration file to find the name of the dll (data layer) which it will create a reference to at runtime (is this the best approach?). The reason for creating the reference at runtime to the data access layer is because the application will interface with a different 3rd party accounting system depending on what the client is using. So I would have a separate data access layer to support each accounting system. These could be separate setup projects, each client would use one or the other, they wouldn't need to switch between the two.     I have a master page, which has a style sheet, which has the following line: .idle { background-image: url( '../../Images/blue_bg.png' ); } All my pages inherit from this master page. And this works well when the URL is http://www.domain.com/home/details/5, however the URL is http://www.domain.com/home/create, then, of course, blue_bg.png cannot be found because `../../Images/blue_bg.png' resolves to a directory one higher where there is nothing there. I tried the trick suggested by @codemeit in a similar question, but I can't plop down C# in a style sheet, can I? How is this typically handled?

    I have a WCF service written to provide certain functionality to intranet-based clients. This is easy when a client is running Windows. I want to implement the same functionality for my Windows clients that is available to my linux clients. My questions are? How can I communicate to a linux c++ based client (supporting callback operations for a publish subscribe) type situation? I am aware of using SOAP over the HTTPBinding but is that the only way (does not support callbacks I believe)? Would the same apply if I were using TCPBinding on the service-side? Currently, the service is set up using TCP but what are my options for the linux client communcation? I read somewhere that messages can also be sent (via webservices I believe) in XML rather than SOAP? Which would be a better approach or how to determine which is a better approach? I am trying to understand the options I would have for a WCF data service if I wanted to communicate with it from a linux client. I appreciate all your help. Thank You, Jeremy
