    My code is using file_get_contents() to make GET requests to an API endpoint. It looks like it is using HTTP/1.0 and my sysadmin says I need to use HTTP/1.1. How can I make an HTTP/1.1 request? Do I need to use curl or is there a better/easier way?

    When I run this code on my computer with the help of "Google App Engine SDK", it displays (in my browser) the HTML code of the Google home page: from google.appengine.api import urlfetch url = "http://www.google.com/" result = urlfetch.fetch(url) print result.content How can I make it display the page itself? I mean I want to see that page in my browser the way it would normally be seen by any user of the internet.

  • Best way to get started with Facebook and Ruby on Rails

I've spent a few hours browsing Facebook's Developer Wiki, Facebooker library, looking at the sample chapters in "Developing Facebook Applications with Rails" by Pragmatic Programmers, etc. Since FB is constantly changing their API, and Facebook Connect is newer than the aforementioned book, does anyone have any advice on where to get started?

    How would I execute a query equivalent to "select top 10" in couch db? For example I have a "schema" like so: title body modified and I want to select the last 10 modified documents. As an added bonus if anyone can come up with a way to do the same only per category. So for: title category body modified return a list of latest 10 documents in each category. I am just wandering if such a query is possible in couchdb.

  • Enumerate printers on a Mac

    So, I'm familiar how to enumerate the printers using the Windows API, there are a ton of examples out there. What I gathered from here is that I can find the printers in the /Library/Printers/ directory. When I searched there, I found more folders which didn't really mean anything to me. To keep it simple, how do I query the mac to get a list of printers (local and networked) "attached" to the system? Or can anyone point me in the right direction?

    According to the java API, the constructor Date(year, month, day) is depreciated. I know that I can replace it with the following code: Calendar myCal = Calendar.getInstance(); myCal.set(Calendar.YEAR, theYear); myCal.set(Calendar.MONTH, theMonth); myCal.set(Calendar.DAY_OF_MONTH, theDay); Date theDate = myCal.getTime(); However, I would like something shorter to replace it with (ideally one-two lines). Any suggestions?

    I have a two column list consisting of a US zipcode and a count (number of customers in this case). I want to put this data onto a map. Would Google maps API be a good fit for this? It seems like this would be a common enough type of problem to already have an existing (preferably Java based) solution without having to re-invent the wheel. Any suggestions?

  • Get information from a higher class?

    I don't know really how to word the question so please bear with me... I have 3 classes: Server, Database, and Table. Each class has a "Name" property. How I want it to work is that each server can have multiple databases and each database can have multiple tables. So in the Server class I have this property. Private _databases As List(Of Database) Public Property Databases() As List(Of Database) Get Return _databases End Get Set(ByVal value As List(Of Database)) _databases = value End Set End Property And I have something similar in the Database class for the tables. This works fine now because I can do something like this to get all the databases in the server. For Each db In s.Databases 's being the server object Debug.Print(db.Name) Next I would like to expand these classes. I want the server class to handle all the connection information and I would like the other classes to use the server class's connection information in them. For example, I setup a server class and set the connection string to the server. Then I want the database class to use serverclass.connectionstring property to connect to the server and get a list of all the databases. But I want to keep that code in the database class. How can I do this? I've attached some code of what I want to do.     Hi, i have a large dictionary I'd like to save. I have pickled it using cPickle.dumps and saved the result into a TextField. When trying to retrieve it (cPicle.loads) i get the following error: loads() argument 1 must be string, not unicode Does anybody have any experience in serializing python objects and storing them in a DB using Django? The web service should provide a consolidated view of the data. All the SQL Server Express instances have the same DB schema. I created a model using ruby script/generate model Article next i edited the my articles.rb file by adding these lines in self.up method def self.up create_table :articles do |t| t.string :title t.text :body t.string :published_at t.timestamps end end Now i ran rake db:migrate . But migrate does not work, it simply does no print anything. Anyone knows where i am going wrong?
