• Fastest way to run a JSON server on my local machine

  I am a front-end developer. For many experiemnets I do I need to have a server that talks JSON with my client side app. Normally that server is a simple server that response to my POSTs and GETs. For example I need to setup a server that saves, modifies and read data from a "library" database like this: POST /books create a book GET /book/:id gets a book and so on... What is the fastest and easiest technology stack for database and server in this case? I am open to use Ruby, Nodejs and anything that do the job fast and easy. Is there any framework (on any language) that do stuff like this for me?

I also don't understand what it works. • Why were annotations introduced in Spring and Hibernate?

  I would like to know why were annotations introduced in Spring and Hibernate? For earlier versions of both the frameworks book authors were saying that if we keep configuration in xml files then it will be easier to maintain (due to decoupling) and just by changing the xml file we can re-configure the application. If we use annotations in our project and in future we want to re-configure application then again we have to compile and build the project. So why were these annotations introduced in these frameworks? From my point of view annotations make the apps dependent on certain framework. Isn't it true?

  I recently installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on my SONY VAIO VPCEH (with Windows 7 Home Basic previously installed). Sometimes when I boot in Ubuntu, following things happen: Ubuntu loading screen seems to freeze. Esc key doesn't show installation progress. Hard-drive led doesn't glow. caps lock and scroll lock keys keep blinking. I've to manually restart my laptop. On restart, Ubuntu loads normally. What can I do to recover from present situation?

  I'm trying to create an auto-grader for one of my beginning programming courses for python. From my online search, I've come to know that it is effectively a unit test framework that tests the student's code rather than production code but I'm not really sure how to structure the flow of the program. Can anyone please provide a strategy for submission of code by students and automating the whole process of marking? For instance, how would the student code be submitted and then stored/structured on disk, how would the grades be stored/reported? I'm only looking for a broad strategy and will try on my own to fill in the blanks. (I asked this on stockoverflow.com initially but it's considered as off-topic and I was suggested to ask here.)

• What constitutes proper use of threads in programming?

  I am tired of hearing people recommend that you should use only one thread per process, while many programs use up to 100 per process! take for example some common programs vb.net ide uses about 25 thread when not debugging System uses about 100 chrome uses about 19 Avira uses more than about 50 Any time I post a thread related question, I am reminded almost every time that I should not use more that one thread per process, and all the programs I mention above are ruining on my system with a single processor.   There's a free mathematics software that I would like to see in Ubuntu Software Centre, called, 'Sage.' I have minimal experience in programming, so I'm basically here asking if someone could either tell me how to accomplish this without said instructions being completely over my head or if someone could do it for me. For further information here's the sage homepage: http://sagemath.org/ and the .tar.lzma file for its installation is ~500MB and it takes around 2.2 GB on the HDD when installed, I found at least on 32 bit i386 Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

• Coding a web browser on Windows using a layout engine?

  I've never attempted anything like this before but what I want to do is code a browser for Windows. I know that I can use the web-browser control that Microsoft has released, but I'm interested in seeing how the problem is solved from a lower level. So I want to know what layout engine I should be looking at? Or is a layout engine the best way to go? I've been looking at WebKit, but it seems rather Mac-centric, so I'm wondering if there are any more practical one's for windows? Has Microsoft released the source code for their webbrowser winforms control in the .Net framework? That would be dependent on the CLR anyway, I suppose? Any suggestions?

  I am currently reading CLR via C# ISBN 978-0-7356-2704-8. Whilst quite correctly described by the publisher as a "Deep Dive", this is a book that C# developers with 6-18 months plus experiance ought to read. Certainly any serious Microsoft programming shop ought to have a copy.  For our VB.NET bretheren, a book of this quality is a good excuse to learn C#. (And before you ask, my favourite language of C# and VB.NET is the one that gets me the next contract!) When I started programming 31 years ago I went through IBM 360 Orientation - this gave me an comprehension of what worked best at the machine code level - this is the first book I have found that explains the the working of the Dot Net framework to explain why particular choices are good, This is my first blog post here.   i'm a software engineer and have been building Google App Engine apps with Python for about a year. I have a pretty good familiarity with the main concepts: web app framework, modeling, queues, memcache, django templates, etc. Where I think I'm lacking is in methodology. Architecting the app, using git for versioning, designing an writing unit tests. I'm totally convinced to incorporate these practices in my development style, and have started reading up on them. However I've learned that I'm a much faster learner when I have someone experienced to ask questions to and interact with. IRC channels and forums like stack overflow are great. But sometimes you want something more dynamic that produces results faster. So my question is how can a person find an experienced engineer that is familiar with the technologies he uses and that is willing to give them a couple of hours of Skype coaching sessions per week in return for an hourly fee...

• How do I install the Intel Graphics driver in my system?

  Can someone help me out and explain or point me in the right direction on how to check video drivers and see if my video card running okay? I had 10.04 installed on my Thinkpad r61 with Compiz Manager and life was great, until the machine took water damage. I bought an ASUS (X54H) since and am trying out 12.04, but the desktop just doesn't look right. I always struggled with video driver installation. There are no proprietary drivers available in the hardware manager. When I run lspci | grep VGA: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09) I will greatly appreciate your help. I want to use Linux more, but like I said video drivers appear to be my biggest concern. I have also tried 12.04 on my desktop PC, but again failed to configure video card, so switched back to Windows 7.

  I'm very noob at linux and installing techniques. I want to install ubuntu 12.04 from bootable usb flash alongside windows 7 ( also tried live CD but now working ) but computer is not booting from usb flash or LIVE-CD and boots windows 7 ( acer aspire 4750g ). and of course I have set the bios priority in the right way. There is one important point to tell that I have installed Fedora 16 on my laptop successfully and now I have it on my system. when I was trying to install fedora i got some error and searched about it and got this point that I should delete a .efi file and then installation went right. In this case , what should I do to solve the problem? ( I also don't need my Fedora anymore )

• Repairing or recreating a bootloader on a multi-booting EFI GPT system

  Reinstalling Ubuntu messed up my boot loader so I I tried to fix it with boot repair. It detected my OSX installation and asked about removing the "separate boot/EFI". It also said my partition was full despite the fact that it wasn't and asked me to remove stuff. I declined both and proceeded. It's been stuck at the "purge and reinstall the GRUB" stage for half an hour. Is this typical, bearing in mind I have a fast SSD and CPU? Is there a better way to re-install grub on a multi-booting UEFI system? Does my pastebin provide any insight?

• Dell wireless not working after upgrade

  So, the short version of my sad story is that I tried upgrade Ubuntu to 12.04 and wireless driver has stopped working. I have tried all the solutions but nothing seem to be working. When I try to install my wireless from "Additional Drivers" Its says: Sorry, installation of this driver failed. Please have a look at the log file for details: /var/log/jockey.log The lspci command gives me the following info about wireless: 0c:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY (rev 01) I have tried removing bcm drivers and reinstalling, but nothing seems to be working. rfkill is good too.
