  • how to display a binary content of image/pdf in java script?

    I have a binary content of image/pdf in java script variable downloaded from server. There will be indication server about the typr of the file. I have to display the content in respective file format. If it is image , i have to display the image. If it is a pdf, i have to open the content in pdf format. and so on. How to parse the binary content and display it? I have searched for it. But I couldn't find exact solution. I'm using jquery mobile framework. Pls help..

  • Can I create and connect to a SQL Server CE database if SQL Server 2005 isn't installed?

    Is there any way to do this? Update: Sorry, I should have included more information. I am trying to create and connect to a SQL CE database using System.Data.SqlServerCe in C# running on a PC (i.e. not running on a Windows Mobile device). This code: string connstr = "Data Source=\"" + filename + "\";Persist Security Info=False;"; System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeEngine engine = new SqlCeEngine(connstr); engine.CreateDatabase(); ... works fine on any PC that has SQL Server 2005 installed, but fails on any PC that doesn't have it installed. I'm trying to find out if there's any way to get this to work without installed SQL Server 2005 on the machine.

The "Categories" table have 5 entries, they are: "Car", "Websites", "Technology", "Mobile Phones", and "Interest". So each time I put an entry to the "Pages" table, I need to map it to the "Categories" table so are arranged properly.     I'm in the designing stages of a custom tcp/ip protocol for mobile client-server communication. When not required (data is not sensitive), I'd like to avoid using SSL for overhead reasons (both in handshake latency and conserving cycles). My question is, what is the best practices way of transmitting authentication information over an unencrypted connection? Currently, I'm liking SRP or J-PAKE (they generate secure session tokens, are hash/salt friendly, and allow kicking into TLS when necessary), which I believe are both implemented in OpenSSL. However, I am a bit wary since I don't see many people using these algorithms for this purpose. Would also appreciate pointers to any materials discussing this topic in general, since I had trouble finding any.

  • Sending passwords over the web

    So I'm working on a mobile platform application that I'd like to have users authenticate over the web. I was wondering the best way to do security. The user is sending a password for HTTP to a php server wich authenticates against a mysql database on the same server. Obviously I don't want to send the password in plain text over the internet, but I also don't want to do 2 SHA hashes. This is what the server looks like (in pseudocode) $pass = $_POST['pass']; if ((get PASSWORD where USERNAME = USERNAME) == SHA($pass)) return PASS; This is pretty standard and I don't think there's any other way to do this. But I was wondering how I should prepare the data before sending it over the internet.

Problem Exp : Suppose I upload 100 folders of Songs, each folder is for one Album. I want a way to generate a page with all the folders name (Album Name) in it. If user click on the page, they should be taken to a page where they get list of all songs in the album. Clicking on any song name will let them download it.     I have an architecture where a task-based UI passes commands to a service layer. Now, my intention is to implement the UI in javascript, using KendoUI and the service layer, domain layer etc. in .NET. I'm also looking at future mobile implementations of the client that may use say Java rather than Javascript. If I define the commands in .NET, I'd like to know how to use them from my Javascript client so the client can communicate the commands appropriately to service layer. Do I have to use something like Apache Thrift for this i.e. to define the commands at both the client and service layer?

    I'm currently writing some stylesheets for mobile browsers and have come across a strange issue in the Android browser. When changing the font-size CSS attribute of a text box the box gets bigger to accomodate the larger text. Doing this on a select box however does not change the size of the select box, but the text still gets larger (actually overlapping the top and bottom of the rendered form element). Can anyone tell me if it's possible to increase the height of select boxes in the Android browser. Or if not point me in the direction of a list of CSS attributes that can be applied to them.     I am currently writing some pretty gnarly C#/C++/Cli code to interface with Telecommunication equipement and GSM Mobile Networks for a couple of the major telecom here and abroad. GSM networks primarily use SS7 Signaling using a protocol called TCAP to send messages back and forth to Signaling Points within the network. The laws of Tcp/ip do not apply here :) I am very interested in hearing from others in this space specifically individuals using the .NET framework most likely using C# / C++. I have not come across any .NET libraries or tools to assist in this sort of development. Most of the software in this industry is "C" / Java based, as a result I have written tons of infrastructure .NET code using C# where possible and C++ / CLI to interface with hardware. Is anyone aware of any .NET language tools for this niche industry?

  • Send data to webserver from C#, what's the most efficient way?

    I am sending gps coordinates from a windows mobile phone to a webserver using a basic program I wrote in C#. The problem is the data plan on the phone only allows 4 MB per month. I was planning on updating the location every 10 seconds. Currently I am just creating a webrequest every 10 seconds to a php page on the server and the coordinates are passed over in the url, the php page saves them to the database. This generates about 1K of data per request, at this rate I will hit my data limit in less than a day. Is there a more efficient way to do this?

    I need to knowingly isolate each row of the vCard and get its value. For instance, I want to get "5555" from X-CUSTOMFIELD. So far, my thoughts are: "X-CUSTOMFIELD;\d+" I have been looking at some tutorials and I am a little confused with what function to use? What would my regex above return? Would it give me the whole line or just the numerical part (5555)? I was thinking I i get the whole row, I can use substring to get the digits?   • T4 Template Interception

    I'm wondering if anyone out there knows of any T4 template based method interception systems? We are beginning to write mobile applications (currently with MonoTouch for IOS). We have a very nice core set of DI/IoC functionality and I'd like to leverage this in development for the new platform. Since runtime code generation Reflection.Emit is not supported, I'm hoping to use T4 templates to implement the dynamic interception functionality (+ TinyIoC as a container for resolution). We are currently using Castle Windsor (and intend to continue doing so for our SL and full .NET development), but all of the Windsor specific ties are completely encapsulated, so given a suitable T4 solution, it shouldn't be hard to implement an adapter that uses a T4 based implementation instead of Windsor.

    I have simple Haxe app like class Main { public static function main() { trace("hello world"); } } I know how to compile such app for windows (not as SWF but as app from pure C\C++ )(and you can see how here but be worned thay use hxcpp\0,4 ) The problem is - I do not want to compile app for Windows Vista or 7 or XP I want to get PURE C\C++ code (better in one place as one project) for for example compiling that code on windows mobile or where ever I want to. So is there any algorithm for turning simple HAXE code into C/C++ code files?

    One of the useful things about S3 for content storage is that a client can directly make a direct HTTP request to download the object. For instance, this is how Twitter serve up avatar images. SimpleDB provides an HTTP interface to data. Rather than having to write a proxy that sits inbetween SimpleDB and the client, is it possible for client software (i.e. desktop, mobile) to make calls to read values from a SimpleDB domain, without sharing credentials that shouldn't be shared? Or is a proxy in-between the only way to go?

    I am thinking of setting up a global, default Exception handler for my (Android) Mobile application(which uses Java syntax) using Thread.setDefaultUncaughtExceptionHandler(...) call. I am thinking of just displaying an Alert Dialog with appropriate message to the user. Are there any gotchas, caveats and rules that one needs to follow when setting DefaultExceptionHandlers?   • JavaScript QR Code Reader - can it be done? Or, Remote Service?

    I'm doing a bit of preliminary research on an upcoming project and I have a quick question that I figure I'll throw up here while I look elsewhere, in case anyone has any experience with this. The question is simple: is it possible to read a QR code using JavaScript? Is there a remote service to which I can pass a bitmap object from a camera and do it that way? Are there currently any libraries that allow this? The project is going to be deployed to various mobile devices and we'd like to try to use Appcelerator to make it work. I know Appcelerator does expose the Camera API on its host devices, but whatever we do with it has to be able to parse QR codes. Is this something that can be done? Thanks in advance! myk

  • What are the names of network interfaces on the Motorola CLIQ XT?

    The network interfaces on Android interfaces are listed as directories in the file system in /sys/class/net/. For most Android devices the network interface for gprs traffic is called rmnet0 and for Wi-Fi it's usually eth0 or tiwlan0. I suspect that the cell interface for the Motorola CLIQ XT is rmnet0, but I would like to have this confirmed + know the name of the Wi-Fi interface. Also it would be good to know the device id for this model. This is the value available as android.os.Build.DEVICE in the Java SDK. (E.g. T-Mobile G1 uses dream, Samsung Galaxy uses GT-I7500, and Motorolda Droid uses sholes.)

Basically what I want to know is what communication protocols do apps typically use for accessing/querying centralised services? E.g if I port a webapp/service to iPhone/Andriod, typically how would I access/query this web service in my app? E.g is it over HTTP, or are there other protocols? Also, presumably the GUI of an app is constructed with Apple/Andriod GUI libraries (in java? cocoa?). Can an app GUI be defined with HTML/javascript like a webpage?     Hi, I am developing a program for converting videos for mobiles for eg converting mkv,avi,flv,ogg file to mp4 files.I have to display a preview window which should have the mobile specific dimension for eg. Sony Ericsson has 176 pixels x 220 pixels. My screen resolution is 1600x900 and when I change to some other resolution say 1024x768 for testing the preview window size changes. Can anyone suggest me how can I fix this. SUMMARY:When screen resolution is changed my preview window size should remain same(like if I measure using a scale along the screen). thanks.

  • iPhone application build fails with "dyld: Library not loaded: /System/[...]" error? Why?

    For my own reasons and not for the app store I am referencing the Apple private framework Apple80211 in an iPhone app. I got the framework from an earlier version of the iPhone SDK. I added the "existing framework", verified that that absolute path to the framework is /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneOS4.0.sdk/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework and tried to build the app. But the build (to device) fails with the error dyld: Library not loaded: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Apple80211 Referenced from: /var/mobile/Applications/3691587D-87AF-44EA-A505-F73D17F39B3B/iWire2.app/iWire2 Reason: image not found I cannot figure out why Xcode would look for the library in a /System path (instead of using the path given in the frameworks list) or how to change that behaviour. I tried the tricks I found here and elsewhere for similar (and identical) sitiations: Delete the myusername.* files in the xcodeproj bundle Delete the build directory Clean all targets Start new project Result is always the same. How can I add this (or a) framework to an iPhone project AND get Xcode to at least look at the library located where I point to rather than a location in /System?

  • MySQL Locking table from Stored FUNCTION

    I have a function in a MySQL Database that determines some sync parameters for a mobile device. The function determines the last date/time the user synchronized with the database. During my sync operation I call this server side function twice. As soon as I call it the second time - the entire Sync_Records table is locked. I cannot write to it from any other connection anywhere (note, after first call, the table is not locked). I changed the function to a Procedure - and all is fine - no locking after the second call. The entire sync operation (including both calls to the function/procedure) is within a transaction. This is an InnoDb table. The function/procedure simply does two select statements. They are storing results in local variables and then returning the date time variable. I don't understand why the tables are locked. Does anyone have any ideas?

    I'm using this function to create an transparent overlay of information over the current div for a web-based mobile app. Background: using jQTouch, so I have separate divs, not individual pages loading new. $(document).ready(function() { $('.infoBtn').click(function() { $('#overlay').toggleFade(400); return false; }); }); Understanding that JS will run sequentially when i click the button on the first div the function works fine. When I go to the next div if I click the same button nothing "happens" when this div is displayed, but if i go back to the first div it has actually triggered it on this page. So I logically duplicated the function and changed the CSS selector names and it works for both. But do I have to do this for each use? Is there a way to use the same selectors, but load the different content in each variation?
