  I'm writing a page that does very simple search queries, resulting in something like: SELECT * FROM my_table WHERE A in (a1, a2, a3) AND B in (b1, b2) AND C in (c1, c2, c3, c4) AND And so on for a variable number of columns, usually ~5. If I create a separate index for each column (one for A, one for B, one for C, not (A,B,C)), will all of them be used in the above query?

  For an example of what I'm looking for, hit the Home button while you're composing a message in the Gmail app. A little message will pop up at the bottom of the screen for a moment that says "Message saved as Draft." Basically, I need an algorithm for doing what I do to generate a regex search string from some pattern. My purpose for this to create a list of potential regular expressions from a selection of text and order that list from least specific (i.e. string of characters with abitrary length) to most specific (i.e. the string itself) to be used in text editor.

  There is a string method called Contains. It allows you to quickly search a string for another string. I need to use this in a .netcf 2.0 application but per MSDN it does not come available until the 3.5 framework. Can anyone offer a work around (C#)? TIA Noble

  I'm looking to build a Struts 1.2.x application for Websphere, using IBM's Application Server Toolkit. Are there any plugins available for this toolkit (it is a version of Eclipse) that are known to help with this type of development? I am new to Struts so I will also be learning about the technology as I go along, but I want to make it as painless as possible. • Unique DVD info?

  I was wondering, is there some type of disc ID i can use to search in my database to see if that disc is has been scanned or not? All disc were created by me typically burnt on windows. -edit- I could compare write time and volume label to see if the disc has been scanned but i notice if i put in certain commercial disc that fields are blank or wrong causing many false positives (i once had the time set to the future, i dont know if people want to archive the contents of files on a commercial disc in my app).

• Are duplicate directives in php.ini going to cause an issue?

  I sent a request to ops today to update some php.ini directives, and found out that he merely appended them to the end of the file. My google search didn't really come up with any info on whether this is a problem or not to have duplicates in there and how they would be parsed.   I have built an application in CakePHP that lists businesses. There are about 2000 entries, and the latitude and longitude coordinates for each business is in the DB. I now am trying to tackle the search function. There will be an input box where the user can put a street address, city, or zipcode, and then I would like it to return the 11 closest businesses as found from the database.   Hi I am trying to make a simple search form that uses a startTime and endTime to specify a time range. The db has a datetime field time that is compared against. So far when i try to use params[:startTime] in the controller I get an array of values which wont work with :conditions = ['time < ?', params[:endTime]] Is there a simple solution to parse the form's datetime to SQL datetime?
