    Paypal offer Automatic Billing Buttons (https://merchant.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?cmd=_render-content&content_ID=developer/e_howto_html_autobill_buttons#id105ED800NBF) which allow regular billing for different amounts. After a couple of hours googling I cannot find how to access this functionality using the API, so that it can be automated as opposed to done manually via the paypal account. Is it possible? Can someone point me to a sample/reference?

  • When should I use AtomPub?

    I have been conducting some research into RESTful web service design and I've reached what I think is a key decision point so I thought I'd offer it up to the community to get some advice. In keeping with the principles of a RESTful architecture I want to present a discoverable API, so I will be supporting the various HTTP verbs as fully as possible. My difficulty comes with the choice of representation of those resources. You see, it would be easy for me to come up with my own API that covers how search results are to be presented and how links to other resources are provided, but this would be unique to my application. I've read about the Atom Publishing Protocol (RFC 5023), and how OData promotes its use, but it seems to add an extra level of abstraction over what is (currently) a rather simple API. So my question is, when should a developer select AtomPub as their choice of representation - if at all? And if not, what is the current recommended approach?

    I was asked to remodel a website, and decided to check its rank on alexa. Surprisingly, there are many, many different websites linking to it, none relevant. One particular thing about it is that none of these urls work, and they all display the exact same error when accessed, which to me is a very good indication that this is some sort of linking scheme. (besides the somewhat obvious names, it even says scheme in one of the urls !?) If so, how should i proceed about this website?     This question already has an answer here: Will having multiple domains improve my seo? 7 answers I'm running a website for a global company, and although we rank first in search engine results here in Ireland, a search done from other countries doesn't rank us as highly. If I register the domain at other top level domain names (eg. example.co.uk, example.nor etc.) and then just mirror the .com site to those other domains, will I be penalised by search engines for having duplicate content? Has anyone else faced a similar problem and found a way to capture the global search engine? Thanks.

  • How should I handle search engines auto-correcting the spelling of a site's name?

    A client's site and company is called 'Tranin Communications' (Tranin is her last name). It ranks well in searches for her name but rather poorly in searches for the name of her site/company. I realized that this is largely due to* search engines (Google especially) assuming that the query was misspelled and automatically including results for both 'train communications' and 'communications training'. Both of those queries yield many high-ranking sites that completely drown out hers. Sometimes Google even shows results for 'communications training' instead of 'tranin communications', hiding her site altogether. Is there a way to report an incorrect auto-correction to Google or something I can do to discourage this behavior (e.g. a meta tag)? My searches have come up cold, any suggestions would be appreciated. *I've come to this conclusion because her site ranks very highly when the same queries are put in quotes.

  • Do wordpress websites get indexed quicker by SE than a regular website?

    I registered a couple of domains with the names of categories of products we sell. I then installed wordpress in one of those domains and played around with it for a bit, and left it alone for about a month. There was a link on my regular website to that secondary website and that website was also registered in google's webmaster tools, but that's that. I then searched on google last week for that product category, and to my surprise, that secondary website showed up in the 2nd or 3rd page on google. Now my question is: Do search engines index wordpress websites quicker? I had given up on using wordpress for that website, since it's so simple, but should i use it, would it give me better results? Thanks in advance for the help, if the question is not deleted.

    I'm looking for an SMS gateway that has the following criteria: Supports sending from short codes Opt-in capabilities for end-user (will require user to opt in before sending message) Has a clean API, preferably an XML/ REST API, although SOAP is fine The cheaper the better Honestly, I keep searching and searching all permutations of "SMS Gateway API" etc... on Google and I can't find any great services that can support all of these criteria. There are a lot of really SEO optimized sites and I can't tell which of them are legit. I'm looking for something that will be easy and quick to implement, and none of my colleagues have any recommendations. What APIs have you used (preferably with PHP) that have gotten this job done? Which services have been the most pleasant to deal with, both technically and support-wise? Update: Will be sending primarily (probably solely) in the US.
