  • How can I write an installer for 32 and 64 bit

    - by tom greene
I have a .NET app which works in 32 and 64 bit. I would like to write one single installer that installs to c:\program files, not c:\program files(x86) regardless of the platform. From this link: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/w1behyzx(v=VS.90).aspx it doesn't look possible. Is it the case?

  • Attempting to load a 64-bit application, how this CPU is not compatible with 64-bit mode

    - by Brandon Michael Hunter
I have a Dell Studio 540, 64 bit OS Windows Home Premium. My CPU is supports Intel's virtualization technology, but I don't know how to enabled it on my machine. I saw that you can do it via the bios, but I didn't see this option when going through my BIOS. Is there another way to enabled this feature? Please let me know. I'm trying to installed Windows Server 2008 via Vircutal PC 2007. Thank You,

  • 64-bit integers in Cython

    - by Homayoon
I'm trying to interface a C++ library (pHash) with Python using Cython, but I have trouble with some of the types. The library functions use "unsigned long long" and I can't find a way to declare variables and parameters with this type. I searched for a list of the types that I can use with cdef but I found nothing. Can anyone point me to such a list (if it exists) or otherwise suggest a way to use 64 bit types in Cython? Thanks.

  • 32-Bit Compiling in XCode

    - by user15386
I was trying to get SDL to work on my mac but kept running into mysterious errors. After some googling, I realized that my issue was that SDL compiled in 32 bits, or was 32 bits, or something, and XCode was compiling my program in 64 bits. There were some solutions, as well, but all were very technical or required arcane knowledge which my novice brain did not comprehend. So, how can I either get a version of SDL that will work with a 64 bit compiler, or tell XCode to compile in 32 bits?

  • C# reads wrong registry data on 64-bit OS

    - by baal80
I'm working on a 64-bit Windows and my applicaiton runs with elevated privileges. I have a problem with the following very simple piece of code: myKey = Registry.LocalMachine.OpenSubKey(@"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run"); if (myKey != null) { string[] HKLMvaluenames = myKey.GetValueNames(); } But for some reason HKLMvaluenames array is populated with values from the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run Is there a way around this problem?

  • Convert bit to boolean string in HyperLinkField.DataNavigateUrlFormatString

    - by abatishchev
I have a asp:GridView with a HyperLinkField. It's DataNavigateUrlFormatString property is set to View.aspx?id={0}&isTechnical={1} Select command of appropriate SqlDataSource returns columns of type INT and BIT (from SQL Server 2008). So displayed string becomes something like View.aspx?id=1&isTechnical=1. But I want to display isTechnical=true|False, i.e. Convert.ToBoolean(row["isTechnical"]).ToString().ToLowerInvariant(). How to implement such conversion in page markup?

  • When to use Shift operators << >> in C# ?

    - by Junior Mayhé
I was studying shift operators in C#, trying to find out when to use them in my code. I found an answer but for Java, you could: a) Make faster integer multiplication and division operations: *4839534 * 4* can be done like this: 4839534 << 2 or 543894 / 2 can be done like this: 543894 1 Shift operations much more faster than multiplication for most of processors. b) Reassembling byte streams to int values c) For accelerating operations with graphics since Red, Green and Blue colors coded by separate bytes. d) Packing small numbers into one single long... For b, c and d I can't imagine here a real sample. Does anyone know if we can accomplish all these items in C#? Is there more practical use for shift operators in C#?

  • How do I set Internet Explorer 64-bit as my default browser?

    - by Brian Knoblauch
Windows Vista x64. It defaults to IE 32-bit, and will not allow me to set 64-bit as the default with the "Make Default" button. I'm currently forced to workaround by starting IE 64-bit manually, and leaving it up with an empty window. Then when links are fired from apps, they open in that 64-bit version. Problem being is that sometimes I forget and get a bunch of stuff opened in 32-bit without realizing it. Then I have to remember all the links I clicked, close ALL of them, open IE 64-bit, and put them all back in. Trying to avoid all that re-work when I forget to do the workaround. Unfortunately, all the forums I've googled that discuss this just have a bunch of people saying "don't do that" and "you don't want to do that". Yes, I do want to do this. The particular feature I use only works right in my 64-bit version, and I don't use 32-bit plugins. I fully understand the implications of what I'm doing. :-)

  • Create shortcut from vb.net on Windows 7 box (64 bit)

    - by Matt
I am trying to create a desktop shortcut from vb.net code on a Windows 7 box (64 bit). The following code works on XP, but when run on Win7 I just get a message stating the App has stopped working: Imports IWshRuntimeLibrary Dim WshShell As WshShellClass = New WshShellClass Dim MyShortcut As IWshRuntimeLibrary.IWshShortcut ' The shortcut will be created on the desktop 'Win 7 MyShortcut = CType(WshShell.CreateShortcut("C:\Users\Public\Desktop\iexplore.lnk"), IWshRuntimeLibrary.IWshShortcut) 'MyShortcut = CType(WshShell.CreateShortcut("C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop\iexplore.lnk"), IWshRuntimeLibrary.IWshShortcut) MyShortcut.TargetPath = "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" 'Specify target app full path MyShortcut.Description = "IE" MyShortcut.Save() Any thoughts or better ways to create a shorcut from code on a Win7 box?

  • Breakpoints are ignored when debugging in Visual Studio 2008 on 64-bit system

    - by Arnold Zokas
I'm trying to debug an ASP.NET web application in this environment: Windows Server Standard 2008 SP2 x64 Single-core CPU 4GB RAM Visual Studio 2008 with Remote Debugger SP1 .NET 3.5 Web Application running in IIS in 64-bit mode The code I am trying to debug is a simple event handler with some basic sequential code. What I observe is that breakpoints get randomly ignored and VS often exits debug mode when I try to step through the code. The code is compiled in debug mode. I've tried all the usual steps: iisreset, reboot VM, rebuild solution, reinstall Visual Studio. Any ideas?

  • determine if parity bit representation in MIPS

    - by Hristo
Is there some instruction in MIPS that will determine the parity of a certain bit representation? I know to determine whether a "number" has an even parity or an odd parity is to XOR the individual bits of the binary representation together, but that seems computationally-intensive for a set of MIPS instructions... and I need to do this as quick as possible. Also, the number I'm working in is represented in Grey Code... just to throw that in there. So is there some pseudo-instruction in MIPS to determine the parity of a "number" or do I have to do it by hand? Thanks, Hristo

  • OPOS not working on 64 bit system

    - by Blair Mahaffy
Anyone have experience with OPOS? I can't get my app to recognize the LDNs for the devices running on a 64 bit machine. I've got down to the point where I know that the OleforRetail stuff is now under Wow6432Node in the Registry. I suspect the common controls can't find the LDN because of this. Is there any kind of workaround? Failing that, is there a centralized OPOS development forum somewhere? BTW: I work with the common controls supplied by Monroe Consulting. Thanks!

  • Best way to represent Bit Arrays in C#??

    - by divinci
Hi all, I am currently building a DHCPMessage class in c#. RFC is available here : http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2131.html Pseudo public object DHCPMessage { bool[8] op; bool[8] htype; bool[8] hlen; bool[8] hops; bool[32] xid; bool[16] secs; bool[16] flags; bool[32] ciaddr; bool[32] yiaddr; bool[32] siaddr; bool[32] giaddr; bool[128] chaddr; bool[512] sname; bool[1024] file; bool[] options; } If we imagine that each field is a fixed length bit array, what is : The most versitile Best practice way of representing this as a class??? OR.. how would you write this? :)

  • DBD::Advantage and 64-bit Perl - Always 6060

    - by WarheadsSE
I realize that I am attempting to go beyond the "supported" behavior of the manf's released drivers for perl, after all they have only released it in package with x86 .so's. However, since I cannot use their package with x64 Perl on a RHEL 5.4 x86_64 box, and maintaining a seperate install of x86 perl just for this one package, I have made an attempt to get this puppy working thanks to released 64-bit .so's that accompany other driver packages for Advantage. What I have done to this point: download beta 10 DBI drivers, in 32 download beta 10 PHP extension (it contains 32 and x86_64) copy the required DLLs into the ads-lib location (eg /usr/local/ads/lib64) compile the Perl DBI driver with the path to the lib64's .so's Good compilation, good install, good use. The problem is that I always get : failed: [iAnywhere Solutions][Advantage SQL][ASA] Error 6060: Advantage Database Server not available on specified server. axServerConnect (SQL-HY000)(DBD: db_login/SQLConnect err=-1) Does anyone have any ideas? EDIT: fixed package name in post title
