  SQL Server is very big and it is not possible to know everything in SQL Server but we all keep learning. Recently I was going over the best practices of transactions log and I come across following statement. The log size must be at least twice the size of largest supported DML operation (using uncompressed data volumes). First of all I totally agree with this statement. However, here is my question – How do we measure the size of the largest supported DML operation? I welcome all the opinion and suggestions. We've been wanting to add some cool features to the site but haven't had the opportunity until now. Adding Ben to the team should give us a big kick in the right direction. • Oracle Extends Life Sciences Edition in New Release

  By Chris Kanaracus, IDG News Service Oracle (ORCL) announced the 17th version of its on-demand CRM (customer relationship management) application Wednesday and made a fresh push into pharmaceutical sales with a Life Sciences edition of the software. New features in CRM on Demand Release 17 include tools for managing sales pipelines and performing forecasts of future business; a redesigned user interface; and added language support. • Douglas Adams Describes the Invention of the Ebook [Video]

  In 1993, Douglas Adams–of The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy fame–lent his creative talent and voice to explaining the invention of the Ebook. The audio segment was produced almost 20 years ago by Adams to both promote his own work in digital format and the work of early ebook publisher Voyager Expanded Books. You may notice Adams refers to their product as a PowerBook, a name they kept until they heard Apple would be releasing a laptop with the same name (from then on the product was simply referred to as Expanded Books). The thoroughly modern video accompanying Adams concise and entertaining description of book history is an animation courtesy of U.K. designer Gavin Edwards, which he submitted to a contest hosted by The Literary Platform intended to match a clever animation with Adam’s monologue. • Microsoft releases Bing iPhone app

  As its officials have been hinting and promising for a while now, Microsoft announced it has developed a version of its Bing search app for the iPhone. The new Bing app is available on the iPhone app store as of tonight (December 15). Microsoft already offers Bing on a number of mobile phones, and has a five-year deal with Verizon to provide Bing on a number of phones available to Verizon Wireless customers. A mobile version of Bing already is available for Windows Mobile, Blackberry, BREW and Sidekick devices on Verizon. In other Bing news, Microsoft has finally hit the 10 percent market share mark with Bing, according to the November U.S. search share data from comScore.
