  • NullPointerException in javax.swing.text.SimpleAttributeSet.addAttribute

    - by Paul Reiners
Has anyone ever seen an exception like this?: ERROR: java.lang.NullPointerException: null at java.util.Hashtable.put(null:-1) at javax.swing.text.SimpleAttributeSet.addAttribute(null:-1) at javax.swing.text.SimpleAttributeSet.addAttributes(null:-1) at javax.swing.text.StyledEditorKit.createInputAttributes(null:-1) at javax.swing.text.StyledEditorKit$AttributeTracker.updateInputAttributes(null:-1) at javax.swing.text.StyledEditorKit$AttributeTracker.caretUpdate(null:-1) at javax.swing.text.JTextComponent.fireCaretUpdate(null:-1) at javax.swing.text.JTextComponent$MutableCaretEvent.fire(null:-1) at javax.swing.text.JTextComponent$MutableCaretEvent.mouseReleased(null:-1) at java.awt.AWTEventMulticaster.mouseReleased(null:-1) at java.awt.AWTEventMulticaster.mouseReleased(null:-1) at java.awt.Component.processMouseEvent(null:-1) at javax.swing.JComponent.processMouseEvent(null:-1) at java.awt.Component.processEvent(null:-1) at java.awt.Container.processEvent(null:-1) at java.awt.Component.dispatchEventImpl(null:-1) at java.awt.Container.dispatchEventImpl(null:-1) at java.awt.Component.dispatchEvent(null:-1) at java.awt.LightweightDispatcher.retargetMouseEvent(null:-1) at java.awt.LightweightDispatcher.processMouseEvent(null:-1) at java.awt.LightweightDispatcher.dispatchEvent(null:-1) at java.awt.Container.dispatchEventImpl(null:-1) at java.awt.Window.dispatchEventImpl(null:-1) at java.awt.Component.dispatchEvent(null:-1) at java.awt.EventQueue.dispatchEvent(null:-1) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpOneEventForFilters(null:-1) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEventsForFilter(null:-1) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEventsForHierarchy(null:-1) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEvents(null:-1) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.pumpEvents(null:-1) at java.awt.EventDispatchThread.run(null:-1) I wish I could tell you an easy way to reproduce this, but I can’t. It’s happening in a Java Swing application I maintain. It happens infrequently and the application is quite complex. I know it’s a bit of a long shot just showing this stack trace, but I thought I’d try.

  • Flex wordwrap issue with multiple text instances

    - by Craig Myles
Hi, I have a scenario where I want to dynamically add words of text to a container so that it forms a paragraph of text which is wrapped neatly according to the size of the parent container. Each text element will have differing formatting, and will have differing user interaction options. For example, imagine the text " has just spoken out about ". Each word will be added to the container one at a time, at run time. The username in this case would be bold, and if clicked on will trigger an event. Same with the news article. The rest of the text is just plain text which, when clicked on, would do nothing. Now, I'm using Flex 3 so I don't have access to the fancy new text formatting tools. I've implemented a solution where the words are plotted onto a canvas, but this means that the words are wrapped at a particular y position (an arbitrary value I've chosen). When the container is resized, the words still wrap at that position which leaves lots of space. I thought about adding each text element to an Array Collection and using this as a datasource for a Tile List, but Tile Lists don't support variable column widths (in my limited knowledge) so each word would use the same amount of space which isn't ideal. Does anyone know how I can plot words onto a container so that I can retain formatting, events and word wrapping at paragraph level, even if the container is resized?

  • Select part of text in a tag

    - by atlantis
The DOM structure looks like this (existing website ... cant modify it): <table> <tr><td> <br><hr size="1"><strong>some heading 1</strong><br> <br>some text 1<br> <br><hr size="1"><strong>some heading 2</strong><br> <br>some text 2<br> </td></tr> </table> I want to manipulate it so that it looks like this <table> <tr><td> <br><hr size="1"><strong>some heading 1</strong><br> <br>some text 1<br> </td></tr> <tr><td> <br><hr size="1"><strong>some heading 2</strong><br> <br>some text 2<br> </td></tr> </table> Using the solution posted here, I am able to get hold of the hr, strong, br tags and move them into new td elements. However, I am not able to get hold of "some text 1" since it is directly contained within the td and using .text() on td will give me both "some text 1" as well as "some text 2". Any idea?

  • highlight the text of the DOM range element,

    - by ganapati hegde
I select some text on the html page(opened in firefox) using mouse, and using javascript functions, i create/get the rangeobject corresponding to the selected text. userSelection =window.getSelection(); var rangeObject = getRangeObject(userSelection); Now i want to highlight all the text which comes under the rangeobject.I am doing it like this, var span = document.createElement("span"); rangeObject.surroundContents(span); span.style.backgroundColor = "yellow"; Well, this works fine, only when the rangeobject(startpoint and endpoint) lies in the same textnode, then it highlights the corresponding text.Ex <p>In this case, the text selected will be highlighted properly, because the selected text lies under a single textnode</p> But if the rangeobject covers more than one textnode, then it is not working properlay, It highlights only the texts which lie in the first textnode,Ex <p><h3>In this case</h3>, only the text inside the header(h3) will be highlighted, not any text outside the header</p> Any idea how can i make, all the texts which comes under rangeobject, highlighted, independent of whether range lies in a single node or multiple node? Thanks....

  • How to get Tkinter to input text and submit with button

  • Basic question in XSL regarding preceding text

    - by Rachel
I am new to XSL and i have a basic question on the context of using preceding text. My template match is on the text node. I am iterating over an xml file and within my for loop i am trying to take the preceding text of the text node. Unfortunately preceding::text() is not working if i use it within a for loop. I want to use it within the for loop but how can do it? <xsl:template match="text()"> <xsl:variable name="this" as="text()" select="."/> <xsl:for-each select="$input[@id = generate-id(current())]"> <xsl:variable name="preText" as="xsd:integer" select="sum(preceding::text()[. >> //*[@id=@name]]/string-length(.))"/> ... ... </xsl:for-each> </xsl:template>

  • Fitting Text into an Image

    - by Abs
Hello all, I have a function which takes in a font (ttf or otf file) and generates an image of text in different fonts. The problem I have is trying to work out how I can make the text fit in the image regardless of the font-size, type of font, and amount of text. I have tried to make the image rectangle variable so that it contains the text of different fonts without cutting a bit of the text since the image is not long or wide enough. Here is the function that I currently have, I have tried using the number of characters to determine the width of the image, but in some cases for some fonts and sizes, it still gets cut off. function generate_image($save_path, $text, $font_path){ $length = strlen($text) * 15; // Create the image $im = imagecreatetruecolor($length, 40); $white = imagecolorallocate($im, 255, 255, 255); $grey = imagecolorallocate($im, 128, 128, 128); $black = imagecolorallocate($im, 0, 0, 0); imagefilledrectangle($im, 0, 0, $length, 40, $white); $font = $font_path; imagettftext($im, 30, 0, 0, 25, $black, $font, $text); if(imagepng($im, $save_path)){ $status = true; }else{ $status = false; } imagedestroy($im); return $status; } Thank you all for any help

  • Calling base Text method on custom TextBox

    - by The Demigeek
I'm trying to create a CurrencyTextBox that inherits from TextBox. I'm seeing some really weird behavior that I just don't understand. After lots of testing, I think I can summarize as follows: In the class code, when I access base.Text (to get the textbox's text), I'm actually getting the return value of my overridden Text property. I thought the base keyword would ensure that the underlying object's methods get called. To demonstrate: public class cTestTextBox : System.Windows.Forms.TextBox { string strText = ""; public cTestTextBox() { SetVal("AAA"); base.Text = "TEST"; } public override string Text { get { string s = strText; s = "++" + s + "++"; return s; } } public void SetVal(string val) { strText = val; } } Place this control on a form and set a breakpoint on the constructor. Run the app. Hover your mouse over the base.Text expression. Note that the tooltip shows you the value of the overridden property, not the base property. Execute the SetVal() statement and again hover your mouse over the base.Text expression. Note that the tooltop shows you the value of the overridden property, not the base property. How do I reliably access the Text property of the textbox from which I'm inheriting?

  • "text-overflow: ellipsis" not working well in firefox with floating element around

    - by Freedom
see jsfiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/9v8faLeh/1/ I have two elements .text and .badge in a .container with a limit width: <div class="container"> <span class="badge">(*)</span> <span class="text">this is a long long long long text.</span> </div> the .badge element may not exist in a .container according to the data. if a .badge exist, I want the .badge element to float to right. and if the .text is too long, the text should ellipsis. .container { width: 150px; border: 1px solid; padding: 5px; white-space: nowrap; text-overflow: ellipsis; overflow: hidden; } .badge { float: right; margin-left: 5px; } if you open the jsfiddle link in Chrome or IE, it displays correctly as my expectation. but if open in Firefox, the .text and .badge are overlay if the text is so long. I don't want to use any JavaScript. how can I achieve the same result in FireFox?

  • Cancel text selection on textinput in Flex

    - by Michael
So the real problem is the lack of an onReleaseOutside function. I found some examples of how to bypass this during a drag function but it was not applicable for a text input. The problem is that when a user selects some text in textinput and mouses off the application area and then mouses up, I'm getting a problem that the textinput keeps thinking that the mouse down is actively selecting text in the textinput and continually overwrites the characters being entered in the textinput. You can test this at http://palermo.infusedindustries.com [ in the search bar of the live store on the page, type some text, then highlight it all and don't let up on the mouse until you are outside the store. I finally hacked some junk together so I can tell if the mouse goes off the stage using some code like var x = stage.mouseX; var y = stage.mouseY; if(x < 0 || y <0 || x >stage.stageWidth || y > stage.stageHeight) I'd like to just make the textinput stop thinking it should be highlighting text so that even if the user scrolls out of the applet and mouses up that the text input still overwrites what is in the search bar and functions as normal. I can't seem to find any events or ways to tell the Flex text field to stop thinking that the mouse is down and that the user is done selecting text.

  • actionscript find and convert text to url

  • basic beginning emacs questions - install latest version and pick appropriate UI

    - by MountainX
I'm running the latest Kubuntu (12.04 beta 2) and I would like to run the latest emacs (currently v24). The repos are one version behind. What's the best way to install v24 or later (and avoid future version conflicts)? Also, is there any reason not to aways use the GUI version of emacs if X is running? For example, could I set the GUI emacs version as the default text editor and use it to edit cron jobs (crontab -e)? I'm assuming the answer is yes, but since I haven't done that yet (my default editor is nano), I want to check if there are reasons I should leave nano as the default editor. Usually when I'm working on the command line I end up using nano. Now that I think about it, I have no idea why I keep doing that. Is there any downside to calling a GUI editor when working in an X terminal? EDIT: I briefly tested these two versions GNU Emacs 24.0.94.1 (x86_64-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 3.3.20) from GNU Emacs 23.3.1 (x86_64-pc-linux-gnu) installed by default in Kubuntu. This post explains some of the differences between versions. Unfortunately (for me) the defaults installed version (23.3.1, 23.3+1-1ubuntu9) is the nox version. Package: emacs23-nox Status: install ok installed Version: 23.3+1-1ubuntu9 Replaces: emacs23, emacs23-gtk, emacs23-lucid The package with version 24 opens in GUI mode by default. That's what I prefer. Some of the version 24 changes that interest me are listed in the references below. But there appear to be a multitude of different packages and versions I could install. • Terminal/Putty showing control characters (^M) after updating

    - by jaycee48
I updated my system yesterday afternoon using the recommended updates from Update Manager. After it completed, I shutdown my system and went home for the day. I come in this morning and I am getting control characters displayed when using vi in both the standard terminal emulator, putty, and putty inside of my Windows virtual that I run with VirtualBox. I have made no other system changes and I cannot figure out how this occurred. It's as if every text file I have was created in DOS. I've searched the forums and I haven't found any answers. I am using xterm as my emulator and I checked with 3 of my coworkers and none of them are having this problem so we do not believe it is a server side issue. Especially since I've checked 3 different servers. There's nothing in my .profile other than PATH variables so I'm using the same terminal settings as everyone else. Some files are fine (I can open and read both /etc/environment and my .profile) but most of any kind of server generated log file is trash. Running cat or head on the same file displays the contents without the characters. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • How do you save/export changes made in Firebug?

    - by blunders
Using Firebug to edit CSS, how do I save/export changes made to the CSS? TOOLS: Firefox, Firebug MAJOR UPDATE: If you know of a way to lock the forward/back/refresh on a FireFox tab, please let me know. Otherwise, I've given up on using FireBug/FireDiff as an IDE for CSS, it's nice, but lol... press backspace at the wrong time and ALL your work is gone... funny. So, really like the browser highlighting to CSS/HTML in Firebug. Know any good CSS editors that do this? Really had hope FireBug would work, but for now only see it as being good for ad-hoc inspection and test; meaning using it for what it's made for. UPDATES: @Lèse majesté: Just as an update, "Web Developer add-on" does let you edit CSS, but it does not let you edit/save CSS changes made by Firebug. Meaning you use Firebug to ID and maybe test changes, but it does not let you save the changes from Firebug. Here's a "how to" covering how to use them together: FF + FB + WD @Lèse majesté: Still playing around with FireDiff. It works okay, found one bug already (although I'm just working around it), and there's no "how to" I've been able to find, so I'm just trying every feature and clicking around... (for example, to export a diff you must be over the last item in the list, right click, and select as "Save Diff". The ".diff" is just a text file, no idea why at this point the ext is .diff.

  • Unable to debug an encodded javascript?

    - by miles away
I’m having some problems debugging an encoded javacscript. This script I’m referring to given in this link over here. The encoding here is simple and it works by shifting the unicodes values to whatever Codekey was use during encoding. The code that does the decoding is given here in plain English below:- <script language="javascript"> function dF(s){ var s1=unescape(s.substr(0,s.length-1)); var t=''; for(i=0;i<s1.length;i++)t+=String.fromCharCode(s1.charCodeAt(i)-s.substr(s.length-1,1)); document.write(unescape(t)); } </script> I’m interested in knowing or understanding the values (e.g s1,t). Like for example when the value of i=0 what values would the following attributes / method would hold s1.charCodeAt(i) and s.substr(s.length-1,1) The reason I’m doing this is to understand as to how a CodeKey function really works. I don’t see anything in the code above which tells it to decode on the basis of codekey value. The only thing I can point in the encoding text is the last character which is set to 1 , 2 ,3 or 4 depending upon the codekey selected during encoding process. One can verify using the link I have given above. However, to debug, I’m using firebug addon with the script running as localhost on my wamp server. I’m able to put a breakpoint on the js using firebug but I’m unable to retrieve any of the user defined parameters or functions I mentioned above. I want to know under this context what would be best way to debug this encoded js.

  • What are some efficient ways to set up my environment when working on a remote site?

    - by Prefix
Hello fellow Programmers, I am still a relatively new programmer and have recently gotten my first on-campus programming position. I am the sole dev responsible for 8 domains as well as 3 small sized PHP web apps. The campus has its web environment divided into staging and live servers -- we develop on the staging via SFTP and then push the updates to the live server through a web GUI. I use Sublime Text 2 and the Sublime SFTP plugin currently for all my dev work (its my preferred editor). If I am just making an edit to a page I'll open that individual file via the ftp browser. If I am working on the PHP web app projects, I have the app directory mapped to a local folder so that when I save locally the file is auto-uploaded through Sublime SFTP. I feel like this workflow is slow and sub-optimal. How can I improve my workflow for working with remote content? I'd love to set up a local environment on my machine as that would eliminate the constant SFTP upload/download, but as I said there are many sites and the space required for a local copy of the entire domain would be quite large and complex; not to mention keeping it updated with whatever the latest on the staging server is would be a nightmare. Anyone know how I can improve my general web dev workflow from what I've described? I'd really like to cut out constantly editing over FTP but I'm not sure where to start other than ripping the entire directory and dumping it into XAMP.

  • Rendering a Long Document on iPad

    - by benjismith
I'm implementing a document viewer with highlighting/annotation capabilities for a custom document format on iPad. The documents are kind of long (100 to 200 pages, if printed on paper) and I've had a hard time finding the right approach. Here are the requirments: 1) Basic rich-text styling: control of left/right margins. Control of font name, size, foreground/background color, and line spacing. Bold, italics, underline, etc. 2) Selection and highlighting of arbitrary text regions (not limited to paragraph boundaries, like in Safari/UIWebView). 3) Customization of the Cut/Copy/Paste popup (what is that thing called anyhow? UIActionBar?) This is one of the essential requirements of the app. My first implementation was based on UIWebView. I just rendered the document as HTML with CSS for text styling. But I couldn't get the kind of text selection behavior I wanted (across paragraph boundaries) and the UIActionBar can't be customized from within UIWebView. So I started working on a javascript approach, faking the device text-selection behavior using JQuery to trap touch events and dynamically modifying the DOM to change the background color of selected regions of text. I built a fake UIActionBar control as a hidden DIV, positioning it and unhiding it whenever there was an active selection region. Not too shabby. The main problem is that it's SLOOOOOOOW. Scrolling through the document is nice and quick, but dynamically changing the DOM is not very snappy. Plus, I couldn't figure out how to recreate the magnifier loupe, so my fake text-selection GUI doesn't look quite the same as the native implementation. Also, I haven't yet implemented the communication bridge between the javascript layer and the objective-c layer (where the rest of the app lives), but it was shaping up to be a huge hassle. So I've been looking at CoreText, but there are precious few examples on the web. I spent a little time with this simple little demo: http://github.com/jonasschnelli/I7CoreTextExample/ It shows how to use CoreText to draw an NSAttributedText string into a UIView. But it has its own problems: It doesn't implement text-selection behavior, and it doesn't present a UIActionBar, so I don't have any idea how to make that happen. And, more importantly, it tries to draw the entire document all at once, with significant performance degradations for long documents. My documents can have thousands of paragraphs, and less than 1% of the document is ever on screen at a time. On the plus side, these documents already contain precise formatting information. I know the exact page-position of every line of text, so I don't need a layout engine. Does anyone know how to implement this sort of view using CoreText? I understand that a full-fledged implementation is overkill for a question like this, but I'm looking for a good CoreText example with a few basic requirements: 1) Precise layout & formatting control (using the formatting metrics and text styles I've already calculated). 2) Arbitrary selection of text. 3) Customization of the UIActionBar. 4) Efficient recycling of resources for off-screen objects. I'd be happy to implement my own recycling when text elements scroll off-screen, but wouldn't that require re-implementing UIScrollView? I'm brand-new to iPhone development, and still getting used to Objective-C, but I've been working in other languages (Java, C#, flex/actionscript, etc) for more than ten years, so I feel confident in my ability to get the work done, if only I had a better feel for the iPhone SDK and the common coding patterns for stuff like this. Is it just me, or does the SDK documentation really suck? Anyhow, thanks for your help!

  • Getting text position while parsing pdf with Quartz 2D

    - by Koteg
Hi guys, another question regarding pdf parsing... Just read PDF Reference version 1.7 "5.3.1 Text-Positioning Operators" and I am a little bit confused. I wrote some code to get transformation matrix and initial text position. • StringBuffer behavior in LWJGL

    - by Michael Oberlin
Okay, I've been programming in Java for about ten years, but am entirely new to LWJGL. I have a specific problem whilst attempting to create a text console. I have built a class meant to abstract input polling to it, which (in theory) captures key presses from the Keyboard object and appends them to a StringBuilder/StringBuffer, then retrieves the completed string after receiving the ENTER key. The problem is, after I trigger the String return (currently with ESCAPE), and attempt to print it to System.out, I consistently get a blank line. I can get an appropriate string length, and I can even sample a single character out of it and get complete accuracy, but it never prints the actual string. I could swear that LWJGL slipped some kind of thread-safety trick in while I wasn't looking. Here's my code: static volatile StringBuffer command = new StringBuffer(); @Override public void chain(InputPoller poller) { this.chain = poller; } @Override public synchronized void poll() { //basic testing for modifier keys, to be used later on boolean shift = false, alt = false, control = false, superkey = false; if(Keyboard.isKeyDown(Keyboard.KEY_LSHIFT) || Keyboard.isKeyDown(Keyboard.KEY_RSHIFT)) shift = true; if(Keyboard.isKeyDown(Keyboard.KEY_LMENU) || Keyboard.isKeyDown(Keyboard.KEY_RMENU)) alt = true; if(Keyboard.isKeyDown(Keyboard.KEY_LCONTROL) || Keyboard.isKeyDown(Keyboard.KEY_RCONTROL)) control = true; if(Keyboard.isKeyDown(Keyboard.KEY_LMETA) || Keyboard.isKeyDown(Keyboard.KEY_RMETA)) superkey = true; while(Keyboard.next()) if(Keyboard.getEventKeyState()) { command.append(Keyboard.getEventCharacter()); } if (Framework.isConsoleEnabled() && Keyboard.isKeyDown(Keyboard.KEY_ESCAPE)) { System.out.println("Escape down"); System.out.println(command.length() + " characters polled"); //works System.out.println(command.toString().length()); //works System.out.println(command.toString().charAt(4)); //works System.out.println(command.toString().toCharArray()); //blank line! System.out.println(command.toString()); //blank line! Framework.disableConsole(); } //TODO: Add command construction and console management after that } } Maybe the answer's obvious and I'm just feeling tired, but I need to walk away from this for a while. If anyone sees the issue, please let me know. This machine is running the latest release of Java 7 on Ubuntu 12.04, Mate desktop environment. Many thanks.

  • Disable inserted lines in multiline TextBox

    - by Shohin
I have a multiline Textbox for my web page. When user logs in and enters text and press "Save" button, data will be saved. Then, next time when the same user logs in and searches for data, I want him to edit only new text in multiline TextBox, not removing or replacing previously entered text. Is there any way to make multiline TextBox to lock inserted lines or inserted text and allow to only add text? Thanks in advance.

After being warmly greeted by Frances and Francesca, who make sure Front of House and Facilities run smoothly, we embarked on a quick tour of the 2 floors Oracle occupies, led by VP Bo, it was time to seek out some willing volunteers to be interviewed/photographed - what a shy bunch! A bit of coaxing from the social media team was needed here! In a male-dominated environment, the few women on the team caught my eye immediately. I got chatting to Susan, a business analyst and Bronagh, a tech writer. It becomes clear during our chat that the male/female divide is not an issue – “everyone here just gets on with the job,” says Suzanne, “We’re all around the same age and have similar priorities and luckily everyone is really friendly so there are no problems. ” A graduate of Queen’s University in Belfast majoring in maths & computer science, Susan works closely with product management and the development teams to ensure that the final project delivered to clients meets and exceeds their expectations. Bronagh, who joined us following working for a tech company in Montreal and gaining her post-grad degree at University of Ulster agrees that the work is challenging but “the environment is so relaxed and friendly”. • Modifying a HTML page to fix several "bugs" add a function to next/previous on a option dropdown

    - by Dennis Sylvian
SOF, I've got a few problems plaguing me at the moment and am wondering if anyone could assist me with them. I'm trying to get Next Class | Previous Class to act as buttons so that when Next Class is clicked it will go to the next item in the dropdown list and for previous it would go to back one. There used to be a scroll bar that allowed me to scroll the main window left and right, it's missing because (I think it was to do with the scroll left and scroll right function) The footer at the bottom doesn't show correctly on mobile devices; for some reason it appears completely differently to as it does on a computer. The "bar" practically and the Scroll Left and Scroll buttons don't appear at all on mobile devices. The scroll left button is unable to be clicked for some reason, I'm unsure what I've done wrong. Refreshing the page resets the horizontal scroll position to far left (I'm pretty sure this relates to the scroll bar) I want to also find a way so that on mobile devices the the header will not show the placeholder image, however I can't work out what CSS media tag(s) I should be using. • C#: Graphics DrawString to Exactly Place Text on a System.Label

    - by jp2code
I have overridden the OnPaint method of my Label control in VS2008: void Label_OnPaint(object sender, PaintEventArgs e) { base.OnPaint(e); Label lbl = sender as Label; if (lbl != null) { string Text = lbl.Text; e.Graphics.SmoothingMode = System.Drawing.Drawing2D.SmoothingMode.AntiAlias; if (myShowShadow) { // draw the shadow first! e.Graphics.DrawString(Text, lbl.Font, new SolidBrush(myShadowColor), myShadowOffset, StringFormat.GenericDefault); } e.Graphics.DrawString(Text, lbl.Font, new SolidBrush(lbl.ForeColor), 0, 0, StringFormat.GenericDefault); } } This works, but I really want to find out how to center the text both vertically and horizontally. I've heard of the MeasureString() method, but my "Text" complicates matters because it could include page breaks. Could someone guide me with how to do this?

  • Importing tab based outline txt file into Word outline

    - by Bernard Vander Beken
Given a text file containing and outline with tabs to indent each level, I would like to import this into a Word 2007 document so that the each indentation level is converted to a H1, H2, etc heading level. I tried copy pasting the text into the outline view and opening the text file via File, Open. Both did not give the expected result. Level 1 Level 2 Level 3 Level 1 Level 2 Note: I am using spaces instead of tabs to indent this sample.
