My question is: what is the best way to display status notifications to the user? On Ubuntu, I notice that whenever I connect to a network or adjust the volume, a black box appears in the upper-right corner. Is there a way to do something like that with Python?

  • Background Activity for Map in Android started again if phone orientation is changed

    Hi, i've developed an android app that's fetches an xml file and displays this data via several markers on the map. This works fine so far. The problem right now is that when i switch the orientation of the phone (portrait-landscape or vice versa) the markers disappear for a small moment, the xml processing is started again and then they reappear. Is there a way to prevent this re-loading of the file? It only takes about 2-3 seconds..so no big deal, but still disturbing

  • Ndepend reports not showing up in CruiseControl Dashboard

    I am currently in the process of setting up ndepend report generation as part of Continuous Integration build process using CruiseControl.Net, I have followed the instructions outlined in ThoughtWorks Website. The ndepend tasks runs fine and the reports are generated correctly but when I goto the dashboard and try to bring up the ndepend reports, nothing comes up (it displays blank). Does the cruisecontrol dashboard application expects the ndepend report in a particular file under the working folder or the artifact folder ?

  • Stuttering animation in iPhone OpenGL ES although fps is high

    I am building a 2d OpenGL es application For iPad it displays a background texture and numerous textures on top of it which are always in motion. Every frame their location is recalculated based on time delta and speed and the entire thing is being rendered at 60 fps successfully, but still as the movement speed of the sprites raises, thing look stuttering. Any ideas? Are there inherit problems with what I'm doing? Are there known design patterns for smooth animation?

    I have a script which displays images like this: header("Content-Type: image/{$ext}"); readfile($image-path); This has worked fine for weeks and now suddenly it has stopped working. The response header looks fine (Content-Type: image/jpg), I have no ending php-tag and I have made no changes to my code, server- or php-setup which could have caused this to malfunction. Does anyone have a clue as to what may be going wrong? Thanks!

    Hi all, I have the following set-up: A Window that has a splitView in which I display I NSCollectionView in the left view and a detailView in the right view. Both views are set-up in separate xibs. Furthermore I have a Datacontroller (of class NSArrayController) that manages a mutable Array of NSMutableDictionaries (moviesForChoice). The dataController is set-up as application delegate. The movie objects in the array have properties like (name, plot, genre etc.) so far so good... In the xib for the NScollectionview I bound a NSArraycontroller content property to my datacontroller via Application.delegate.moviesForChoice The collectionView accesses the arraycontroller.arrrangedObjects and arraycontroller.selectionIndexes. This works fine the contents are displayed and the selection works fine in the collectionview (my collectionviewItem renders a selection color) In the xib for the detailView I want to display information for the selected object in the collectionview. Therefore I also added an arraycontroller to the xib, bound the content aray to Application.delegate.moviesForChoice and bound the NSTextfields in the view to e.g. arraycontroller.selection.name Here comes my issue: everytime I open the window with the two xibs, my collectionview displays all movies that are for choice correctly, and the detailview displays the information for the 1st object in my collectionview. Whenever I click on a different movie in the collectionView the res. item renders a selection color, but the detailView doesn't update. My understanding of it would be that the DataController is not informed about updates in the selectionIndexes and can therefore not trigger an update in the detailView. Correct me if I'm wrong... To remedy this I tried to bind the selectionIndexes property of the arraycontroller in the collectionView xib to Application.delegate.moviesForChoice.selecionIndexes but this failed with: addObserver:forKeyPath:options:context:] is not supported. Key path: selectionIndexes I could imagine that this means that the datacontroller is not KVO compliant for my Array moviesForChoice, but I implemented the following methods for it: -(void)insertObject:(NSDictionary *)dict inMoviesForChoiceAtIndex:(NSUInteger)index { [moviesForChoice insertObject:dict atIndex:index]; } -(void)removeObjectFromMoviesForChoiceAtIndex:(NSUInteger)index { [moviesForChoice removeObjectAtIndex:index]; } -(void)setMoviesForChoice:(NSMutableArray *)a { moviesForChoice = a; } -(NSArray*)moviesForChoice { return moviesForChoice; } -(NSUInteger)countOfMoviesForChoice { return [moviesForChoice count]; } - (void)addMovieForChoiceObject:(Movie *)anObject { [moviesForChoice addObject:anObject]; } So where am I wrong?   • Why is png file looks different in firefox?

    If you take screen shot this web page in different browser, you'd see that it displays slightly different in firefox. (7.01, ubuntu) At first I thought it was because of color profile, but even if I turned on color management in firefox, the problem is still there. Although it's not a very noticeable problem, I got a perfectionist boss who asked to make it look exactly the same in every browser. Does any one know what might have caused the problem? Thanks!

    OK, i have been doing some work modding a pre-compiled ASP.NET application (VB codebehind) but i have come across something i have never seen before. When ever theres an error on the loading of a page, the page outputs nothing (no error message, no error message, nothing at all) firefox displays this error: XML Parsing Error: no element found Location: http://site.local/Checkout.aspx Line Number 1, Column 1: Because there is no html output. Is there some sort of setting that im missing that makes IIS/ASP.NET function like this?
