  • Windows 7 Sleep Problems

    - by salcan
My desktop's Windows 7 installation was working perfectly but recently I ran into a problem where it would not come out of sleep. The system seems to be running it's just that it won't come out of the sleep state. If I have to guess I would say that it's not recognizing the USB and thus not waking. I'd say this was a standard problem with Windows not sleeping/hibernating properly, but it was working fine for about a year and stopped working around two weeks ago. I have hybrid sleep ON and USB selective suspend ON.

  • Problems with Startup after Script runs to Shutdown Windows 7 PC

    - by Toby Allen
I have a simple .bat script to shutdown a kiosk style machine in our work shutdown -h -f this hibernates the machine and I have it running each evening as a scheduled job. However my problem comes when I turn the machine on again. The first time I press power it starts up and then immediately hibernates again, like it runs the script a second time. the second time I press power it stays up. Any suggestions on how I can avoid this?

  • Hibernation fails; The system cannot find the file specified

    - by GMMan
Recently I installed Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS on my Lenovo Y480. Hibernation was working properly after the Ubuntu install, but I was making sure all of the operating systems on my system worked, including OneKey Recovery (recovery partition). It is of note that I installed Windows 7 from scratch with a disk image I downloaded off of my university's DreamSpark program, and further to that I had to image the partition with Paragon Backup & Recovery, repartition to convert the Windows partition to extended, install Ubuntu, and then restore the image. During that process I also used the Windows disc to edit the BCD as to reuse the existing entry for the restored partition. I also used the automated "repair your computer" option. With verification, I noticed that the "repair your computer" option actually wrote to the wrong BCD (the recovery partition), and I mounted the partition and restored the original BCD (from a copy I made earlier), and rebooted. At this point my GRUB broke, and I was able to restore it. At this point hibernation broke. I tried powercfg /h off and powercfg /h on, rebooted, and nothing. Also tried increasing the hibernation file size as directed on this post, but it still doesn't work. Executing shutdown /h yields The system cannot find the file specified.(2). What file? It seems that mounting the system partition sometimes works, but I don't want to keep it mounted in case it gets written to accidentally. How do I permanently fix this?

  • Is it safe to swap SATA ports during hibernation?

    - by netvope
I hibernated my Windows 7 desktop PC, replaced the SATA cables of my 2 hard drives (without paying attention to which ports they were connected), and resumed the system. Everything appeared normal and it entered the desktop with all the applications previously open before hibernation. However, after a few seconds, the screen became frozen and the system no longer responded to anything (mouse/keyboard/network ping). Does anyone have a definitive answer on whether changing SATA ports of the HDDs during hibernation would crash a Windows 7 system?

  • Which particular file caused "Delayed write failed" error?

    - by user35020
I sometimes get this error when resuming from hibernation: Delayed Write Failed: Windows was unable to save all the data for the file G:\$Mft. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere. I know this is caused because the hard drive (G:, an external USB drive) was (a) plugged in when I hibernated and wasn't ready at wake-up, or (b) I simply forgot to plug it when resuming from hibernation. My question is: is there any way to see which particular file/folder/etc failed to be written? The hard drive functions correctly before and after, so there seems to be no permanent damage. Is there a detailed log someplace or a utility? I've searched but found nothing. Thanks for any help!

  • Does Windows 7 deleted files generated during hibernation?

    - by Koffeehaus
Somebody was using my Windows 7 and she hibernated it instead of shutting down. Later, I booted up Ubuntu and moved about 2GB worth of files from the Ubuntu partition to the Windows partition. After booting up Windows (from hibernation), I couldn't find any of the files. Then I restarted the PC, and the files showed for a second or two and then disappeared. Did Windows delete all the files I put on it while it was hibernating?

  • Computer wakes up from hibernation at exctly 3:40am every day

    - by vascoFG
I'm getting tired of waking up to my computer being turned on, and event log shows that it's waking up everyday at 3:40am and most times won't go back to sleep after the determined 30 minutes (maybe from being in the lock screen?). There are no devices armed for wake, activation timers are disabled and all wake options disabled in the BIOS and energy star 4.0c is enabled (was disabled before but no difference).

  • How to avoid Windows 7 wake up screen?

    - by Lynx
When Windows 7 hibernates and then I wake it up, it always shows a screen where I have to click before I can get into the Windows environment. I don't have a password set so this intermediate screen serves no purpose - just one wasted mouse click and an unnecessary wait every time. How do I disable this so that I go from hibernating directly into my desktop without a click?

  • How to save your Linux state (suspend to disk) periodically to recover from crashes?

    - by WoLpH
One in a while my laptop crashes/dies because of a bad/empty battery, crappy wifi driver or whatever other reason. For a while I've wondered if it's possible to force Linux to periodically save the state (like vmware snapshots) to disk so you can restore from that with possibly slightly outdated work but at least with all of your apps open in the same state you've left them. I don't really see the point in having to boot everything from cratch constantly, although KDE saves your state on logout, that doesn't happen periodically (by default) either. It would make it much nicer to recover from your crashes if your ram was written to disk periodically. Anyone know if there's a system call to do this without also shutting down the machine? Even a manual button to save the entire state would be nice.

  • "bad record MAC" SSL error between Java and PortgreSQL

    - by Stéphane Bagnier
Hello there ! We've got here a problem of random disconnections between our Java apps and our PostgreSQL 8.3 server with a "bad record MAC" SSL error. We run Debian / Lenny on both side. • Play! Framework 1.2.4 --- C3P0 settings to avoid Communications link failure do to idle time

    - by HelpMeStackOverflowMyOnlyHope
I'm trying to customize my C3P0 settings to avoid the error shown at the bottom of this post. It was suggested at this url --- http://make-it-open.blogspot.com/2008/12/sql-error-0-sqlstate-08s01.html --- to adjust the settings as follows: In hibernate.cfg.xml, write <property name="c3p0.min_size">5</property> <property name="c3p0.max_size">20</property> <property name="c3p0.timeout">1800</property> <property name="c3p0.max_statements">50</property> Then create "c3p0.properties" in your root classpath folder and write c3p0.testConnectionOnCheckout=true c3p0.acquireRetryDelay=1000 c3p0.acquireRetryAttempts=1 I've tried to make those adjustments following the direction of the Play! Framework documentation, where they say use "db.pool..." as follows: db.pool.timeout=1800 db.pool.maxSize=15 db.pool.minSize=5 db.pool.initialSize=5 db.pool.acquireRetryAttempts=1 db.pool.preferredTestQuery=SELECT 1 db.pool.testConnectionOnCheckout=true db.pool.acquireRetryDelay=1000 db.pool.maxStatements=50 Are those settings not going to work? Should I be trying to set them in a different way? With those settings I still get the error shown below, that is due to to long of a idle time. • NoSQL vs Ehcache caching advise for speeding up read only mysql Database

    - by paddydub
I'm building a Route Planner Webapp using Spring/Hibernate/Tomcat and a mysql database, I have a database containing read only data, such as Bus Stop Coordinates, Bus times which is never updated. I'm trying to make the app run faster, each time the application is run it will preform approx 1000 reads to the database to calculate a route. I have setup a Ehcache which greatly improves the read from database times. I'm now setting terracotta + Ehcache distributed caching to share the cache with multiple Tomcat JVMs. This seems a bit complicated. I've tried memcached but it was not performing as fast as ehcache. I'm wondering if a MongoDb or Redis would be better suited. I have no experience with nosql but I would appreciate if anyone has any ideas. What i need is quick access to the read only database.

  • Hibernates generates VARBINARY column with JPA @Enumerated annotation

    - by tran
Hibernates is generating a VARBINARY column with JPA @Enumerated annotation. I'm using SQL Server 2005 w/ JTDS driver. The mapping is dirt simple: @Basic @Enumerated(EnumType.ORDINAL) private MyEnum foo; I would have expected Hibernate to generate an integer column? I've also tried EnumType.STRING (expecting a varchar column) with no success. Note that my app works fine; the column type makes it hard to inspect the DB, and to issue adhoc SQL when poking at the database.

  • Collection.contains(Enum.Value) in HQL?

    - by Seth
I'm a little confused about how to do something in HQL. So let's say I have a class Foo that I'm persisting in hibernate. It contains a set of enum values, like so: public class Foo { @CollectionOfElements private Set<Bar> barSet = new HashSet<Bar>(); //getters and setters here ... } and public enum Bar { A, B } Is there an HQL statement I can use to fetch only Foo instances who'se barSet containst Bar.B? List foos = session.createQuery("from Foo as foo " + "where foo.barSet.contains.Bar.B").list(); Or am I stuck fetching all Foo instances and filtering them out at the DAO level? List foos = session.createQuery("from Foo as foo").list(); List results = new ArrayList(); for(Foo f : foos) { if(f.barSet.contains(Bar.B)) results.add(f); } Thanks!

  • "Could not register destruction callback" warn message leads to memory leaks?

    - by Séb
Hello all, I'm in the exact same situation as this old question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2077558/warn-could-not-register-destruction-callback In short: I see a warning saying that a destruction callback could not be registered for some beans. My question is: since the beans whose destruction callback cannot be registered are two persistance beans, could this be the source of a memory leak? I am experiencing a leak in my app. Although the session timeout is set (to 30 minutes), my profiler shows me more instances of the hibernate SessionImpl each time I run a thread dump. The number of instances of SessionImpl is exactly the number of times I tried to login between two thread dumps. Thanks for your help...

  • Join map and refer to its key/value in HQL

Suppose I have a map: <map name="externalIds" table="album_external_ids"> <key column="album_id" not-null="true"/> <map-key-many-to-many class="Major" column="major_id"/> <element column="external_id" type="string" not-null="true"/> </map> How do I make a HQL meaning "select entities where map key's id == :foo and map value == :bar"? I can join it using select album from Album album join album.externalIds ids But how would I then refer to ids' key and value? ids.key.id = :foo and ids.value = :bar doesn't work, and hibernate doc is silent on this topic. Naive approaches that didn't work: select album from Album album join album.externalIds externalId where index(externalId).id = :foo and externalId = :bar and select album from Album album join album.externalIds externalId join index(externalId) major where major.id = :foo and externalId = :bar

I am using these environment: Flex Builder 3 BlazeDS 3.2.0 JBoss server Full stacktrace: [RPC Fault faultString="java.lang.NullPointerException" faultCode="Server.Processing" faultDetail="null"] at mx.rpc::AbstractInvoker/http://www.adobe.com/2006/flex/mx/internal::faultHandler()[C:\autobuild\3.2.0\frameworks\projects\rpc\src\mx\rpc\AbstractInvoker.as:220] at mx.rpc::Responder/fault()[C:\autobuild\3.2.0\frameworks\projects\rpc\src\mx\rpc\Responder.as:53] at mx.rpc::AsyncRequest/fault()[C:\autobuild\3.2.0\frameworks\projects\rpc\src\mx\rpc\AsyncRequest.as:103] at NetConnectionMessageResponder/statusHandler()[C:\autobuild\3.2.0\frameworks\projects\rpc\src\mx\messaging\channels\NetConnectionChannel.as:569] at mx.messaging::MessageResponder/status()[C:\autobuild\3.2.0\frameworks\projects\rpc\src\mx\messaging\MessageResponder.as:222]

  • How to reserve a set of primary key identifiers for preloading bootstrap data

    - by Joshua
We would like to reserve a set of primary key identifiers for all tables (e.g. 1-1000) so that we can bootstrap the system with pre-loaded system data. All our JPA entity classes have the following definition for the primary key. @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy = IDENTITY) @Column(name = "id", unique = true, nullable = false, insertable = false, updatable = false) private Integer id; is there a way to tell the database that increments should start happening from 1000 (i.e. customer specific data will start from 1000 onwards). We support (h2, mysql, postgres) in our environment and I would prefer a solution which can be driven via JPA and reverse engineering DDL tools from Hibernate. Let me know if this is the correct approach

  • ManyToMany Relation does not create the primary key

    - by Javi
Hello, I have a ManyToMany relationship between two classes: ClassA and ClassB, but when the table for this relationship (table called objectA_objectB) there is no primary key on it. In my ClassA I have the following: @ManyToMany(fetch=FetchType.LAZY) @OrderBy(value="name") @JoinTable(name="objectA_objectB", joinColumns= @JoinColumn(name="idObjectA", referencedColumnName="id"), inverseJoinColumns= @JoinColumn(name="idObjectB", referencedColumnName="id") ) private List<ClassB> objectsB; and in my ClassB I have the reversed relation @ManyToMany List<ClassA> objectsA; I just want to make a primary key of both id's but I need to change the name of the columns as I do. Why is the PK missing? How can I define it? I use JPA 2.0 Hibernate implementation, if this helps. Thanks.

  • Netbeans can't find running Tomcat

    - by Yurish
Hi! I'm running Tomcat inside of Netbeans. I added Tomcat server(not bundled with Netbeans) to Servers in Netbeans. But, when i'm trying to run Tomcat, it starts(i can visit Tomcat home page), but Netbeans can't find it running. Where is the problem? No stacktrace in Tomcat. When i'm deploying my project`s war in this Tomcat manually, everything works, but i need to deploy it automatically from Netbeans. Configuration: Netbeans 6.8 + Tomcat 6.0.26 + JSF and Hibernate project.

  • Integrating Pentaho/Talend/etc. with an OR Mapper

    - by DaDaDom
We have an application (Java) with an own OR mapper. Within this system we have what can be compared to Hibernate's interceptors (we call it triggers): Do specific actions just before saving data in the database, after it's deleted and so on. The underlying database is MySQL. Now we would like to use tools such as Pentaho Data Integration or Talend to convert data to put it into our system. It's no problem to do that directly on the SQL level, but by doing so we loose the built-in power of our triggers. Is there a way to somehow integrate any of the Data Integration solutions into our existing application? It would be great if there was a way to write into instances of our classes instead of writing into the database directly. Any hints welcome :-)
