    Hi, I'm using PHPMailer to send a confirmation email for newly registered users in my social network. But i found out most of them have ended up in user's spam list. (hotmail and yahoo). How to avoid this?     I have a data set that I import into a SQL table every night. One field is 'Address_3' and contains the City, State, Zip and Country fields. However, this data isn't standardized. How can I best parse the data that is currently going into 1 field into individual fields.   • Is there a Python module for handling Python object addresses?

    (When I say "object address", I mean the string that you type in Python to access an object. For example 'life.State.step'. Most of the time, all the objects before the last dot will be packages/modules, but in some cases they can be classes or other objects.) In my Python project I often have the need to play around with object addresses. Some tasks that I have to do: Given an object, get its address. Given an address, get the object, importing any needed modules on the way. Shorten an object's address by getting rid of redundant intermediate modules. (For example, 'life.life.State.step' may be the official address of an object, but if 'life.State.step' points at the same object, I'd want to use it instead because it's shorter.) Shorten an object's address by "rooting" a specified module. (For example, 'garlicsim_lib.simpacks.prisoner.prisoner.State.step' may be the official address of an object, but I assume that the user knows where the prisoner package is, so I'd want to use 'prisoner.prisoner.State.step' as the address.) Is there a module/framework that handles things like that? I wrote a few utility modules to do these things, but if someone has already written a more mature module that does this, I'd prefer to use that. One note: Please, don't try to show me a quick implementation of these things. It's more complicated than it seems, there are plenty of gotchas, and any quick-n-dirty code will probably fail for many important cases. These kind of tasks call for battle-tested code. UPDATE: When I say "object", I mostly mean classes, modules, functions, methods, stuff like these. Sorry for not making this clear before.

  • What is the best way to deal with address inputs that can be from multiple countries?

    Most of my websites in the past have been rather limited to the United States when it came to displaying addresses. On a project I'm working on right now, however, users can add events from all over the world. My problem is how to go about dealing with the different way in which addresses are displayed across the world. For example, City/State/Zip is just a US thing. I was figuring I would alter the inputs displayed based on the country selected but I have no idea how I'm supposed to know the way every single country does addresses. Ideas?

    Please help!, Here is my situation: I've been doing business using my current gmail address ([email protected]) and really wanted my mail address to read [email protected], so i looked into google apps. It says you can set up custom emails with your domain name, achieving the above goal, but how do i configure these addresses to run through my CURRENT gmail account? I have everything pretty well set up, and it would be very time consuming to effectively start again...Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks. Barney

  • Send email from server to Google Apps email address (same domains)

    I'm sending email from a server, let's say domain.com. I also have Google Apps email set up for hosted email, same domain, domain.com. If I get mail sent to me from anywhere else, I receive things just fine. However, if the email originates from my server, it just ends up in /var/mail/root as a delivery error saying the user is unknown. I created a user on the server for the name which is having trouble, [email protected]. Retried sending and it sends, but not to my hosted email at Google Apps. I just receive it at /var/mail/webmaster now. I'm using sendmail. I messed around with /etc/aliases but adding webmaster: [email protected] looked useless (and I was right.) Any help?

  • Can my email address be revoked? [closed]

    I did some work with an organization and had a falling out, so I left them. They used postfix to have [email protected], and I had one. I set up gmail to get my mail via POP as well as to "send mail as @_.com". I think for a long time they forgot to delete my email address and now it seems that I can send but not receive mail at the address. What could a possible explanation for this be? Can they revoke delivery but not sending from the address? Why would they only revoke one if they cna revoke both? Is it more tedious or difficult a task to revoke sending? Thanks

  • Pluscom MAC address shows up but "wireless unavailable"

    I've got a pluscom pci card plugged into my desktop and although the mac address shows up in network manager, it says "Wireless unavailable".     As an avid user of todo apps (currently Asana) is very much miss a way to easily forward an email from Postbox to my GTD app. Currently the workflow is: Click cmd/L to open the forward email window Type [email protected] in the To: address field Click the send button in the forward email window What I would like to have is an automator or applescript that does that for me. Ex: Highligh/select the mail I wish to convert to a task in Asana and the type a shortcut like ctrl/cmd/L to forward the mail to Asana. As most todo apps have custom email addresses you can use to convert an email into a task, the only thing that needs to be changed is the email address in the script. For Asana this would not be necessary because the email address for converting an email into a taks is the same for all Asana users.

  • 12.04 LTS boot hangs at "SP5100 TCO timer: mmio address 0xfec000f0 already in use", didn't yesterday

    Dual-booting Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. I went to reboot from Win to Ubu, and found a few interesting things. My POST screen is covered in blocks of epileptic colors until I hit GRUB, which continues when I try to boot into Ubuntu. These color blocks don't appear when I use my on-board VGA, so I'll just attribute to that. Grub dimensions are swapped (card vs onboard, probably), but, when interfacing with onboard VGA, the Grub Timeout Counter works and when using my card, it does not (see "[!!!]" below for more information) Booting into Ubuntu directly causes the error: SP5100 TCO timer: mmio address 0xfec000f0 already in use Booting into recovery mode, meanwhile, and then "resuming normal boot" gets me to the desktop without native 1440x900 resolution and graphic drivers can't tell the monitor it's looking at (I assume this is because it's not a full graphic boot, and as it says, some drivers won't run?) [!!!] When I reboot after going into recovery mode, the countdown timer works ONCE, puts me back into default ubuntu boot, and then does not work again until after another recovery-mode boot. Windows 7 can boot perfectly with no issues whatsoever from epilepsy color blocks or driver detection. This makes me wonder /why/ the POST screen can't handle my video card anymore. Amidst all the diagnostics, I opened my case and re-seated the videocard securely, ensuring it wasn't a loose connection-- But this did nothing to help me. Hardware I am running an NVidia GeForce GTX 8800 video card in a PCI slot. I have 4.8GiB memory, an AMD Athlon II Quad-core 640 Processor, on an MSI K9N6GM Series Mobo. Onboard video is an NVidia GeForce MCP61(V/S/P) card. Note: I did not have any of these problems yesterday, and I have been using Ubuntu intensively for a week, though it's been working flawlessly for months. I've recently been using it to mod my Android phone, perhaps I messed something up in the file system?

  • emails getting sent with wrong "from" address

    I have a postfix/dovecot system setup on Ubuntu 10.04, and it sends/receives emails fine, but when I send emails they are all from [email protected]. For example, I have a user called "info" and when I try to send an email using mutt from this Mailbox "/home/vmail/mydomain.com/info/Maildir" the email will send find but it will be from "[email protected]" and not "[email protected]". I have 3 mailboxes (/home/vmail/mydomain.com/root/Maildir, /home/vmail/mydomain.com/root/postmaster, and /home/vmail/mydomain.com/root/info) and they all send and receive emails.   • Is there any way to do "mail server parking"?

    I am managing a mail server, which will be temporarily closed for three or four days due to the data center maintenance. I want to find a solution to (completely or partly) solve the lost mails during this unavailable period. Because the data volume is huge, it is very hard to migrate it to other data center. One approach I think out is to setup a temporary mail server in other data center, and when new mail received, the mail server automatically sends a return mail to tell the sender "We are temporarily closed for three or four days. Please send the mail later or contact in other means." I am wondering is this approach possible with existed mail server ? Or something better available ? (free solution is preferred for it is only for temporary)

    At work, we use Google Apps to host our e-mail and Outlook to access it. I have a user who recently changed their name. I changed their e-mail address and their account name, but when they send e-mail their old name still appears, no matter whether they send it using Outlook or the gmail web client. For example, e-mail from them in the Gmail web client reads Oldname [email protected] instead of Newname [email protected]. I'm trying to make the user's new name show up when they send an e-mail. Where is the sender's name stored? Is it a part of the e-mail specification, stored in some header somewhere, or is it stored in the e-mail client? If it's possible, how do you change the sender's name in Gmail?

    Hi, Just installed ClearOS on a PC to act as our firewall firstly and then to act as an internal mailserver. My question is: Can i create a mailserver that then routes the mail through to our ISP mail server without having to contact the ISP and gain MX records etc..? We are a small business (5 PCs + dataserver) and the reason this is interesting is because we need to keep a record of outgoing mails from certain users, as well as spam and virus filtering.
