  • Is there a Utility that will scan selected locations and return all files older than a certain date?

    Can anyone recommend a utility that can scan specified directory locations (network shares specifically) and return all files older than a certain date? I am looking to implement a data retention policy at my workplace. As our amount of data grows it puts a large strain on our backup routines. I would like to move old data to some sort of archival system. Extra points for the ability to move queried old files to another location for archival and the ability to create schedules for when this occurs. Many thanks. EDIT: Windows Shop.   • What is wrong with this mail header text?

    The following $header is being sent via PHP's mail($to,$subject,$content,$header) command. The mail arrives and appears to have an attachment. But the mail text is empty as is the file. I think this has something to do with line spacing but I can't see the problem. I have tried putting the contents (between the boundaries) in $contents rather than appending it to $header. It doesn't make a difference. Any thoughts?   • Replace System.Net.Mail.MailMessage with manually created message and send it

    I am trying to send emails that will bounce to a known mailbox. I plan to use VERP. Unfortunately the System.Net.Mail.MailMessage object does not allow me to precisely set the From: and Sender: headers within my email - it forces the values so that the resulting email contains the phrase 'on behalf of', and does not allow me fine control over the relevant mime headers. I therefore plan to manually write mime email messages directly to the pickup directory so that I can independently control the From and Sender headers. My dev box is a Vista box and therefore does not have an SMTP server. I would like to configure the dev box so that I have an SMTP server running on it. I can then turn off the SMTP server, write messages to the pickup dir, then turn on the SMPT server and see how the individual emails that I have written will behave (some delivered, some bounced to a bounce handler on a different email domain, as dictated by the Sender). Two questions: 1. Can anyone recommend an SMTP server that will monitor a pickup directory? 2. If I set headers as follows; From:[email protected]; Sender:[email protected] then the recipient will see the email as having come from [email protected] ( and won't see any reference to [email protected]), but if the mail bounces then the NDR will be sent to [email protected]). It's a real pain to have to do this, but I can't see any way of using System.Net.Mail.MailMessage without it messing up my headers.

    I'm trying to sends mails in PHP. The code I used for sending a mail in CakePHP is given below. I get the message 'Simple Email Sent' in my web page but the mail is not delivered to my inbox. Am I missing something?   • Retrieve E-mail from server (pop3) by date for filtering on subject or body in C#

    I have a piece of monitoring software I am writing which needs to retrieve e-mails sent to an address for a certain day so that I can filter them by a regex in the subject or body. I don't need to retrieve the entire message, only the subject and body for all messages on a given day so that I can evaluate them with a regular expression for a token. I looked at EAGetMail as a solution, but their implementation doesn't do what I need to to do. I can only get all information on mail, which only has the size and index. I would need it by subject, but even then I don't want to get everything in inbox. If I went with this solution I have to get all mail, and then retrieve each mail message individually to evaluate the subject and body. This is not ideal. I also looked at OpenPop.Net, but it too does not have a targeted retrieval for today's messages only. Can I even do what I want without looping through every single email on the server until I find a match? What is the best way to accomplish what I am trying to do? Am I going to have to build a custom web request to get the data I want? Also, I looked at Chilkat, but I am looking for a free solution, even if it means building the http request myself.

  • Exim log and send all mail for a given domain through another server

    I administer a handful of shared web hosting servers. Recently, Yahoo has been deprioritizing/greylising all email sent from these servers. I am getting the dereaded 421 4.7.0 [TS02] Messages from my.ip.address temporarily deferred message from Yahoo and their postmaster has been unresponsive. I am unable to find any way to set up a feedback loop like AOL has for my IP address -- I did find a way to set up a feedback loop for a given domain, but we host hundreds of domains, and don't have the time to set up that many feedback loops. So what I'd like to do is twofold: Configure Exim to send all email destined to an @yahoo.com address to a relay, a new server which has an IP that yahoo is not blocking. Configure Exim (or maybe the relay) to log all emails sent to @yahoo.com, so I can review them and, in case one of my uses is violating ToS and sending SPAM to yahoo users, take the appropriate action. How could I accomplish these? Or, does anyone have any other advice for how to get mail to flow through Yahoo and ensure that any email generating complaints is brought to my attention? (For what it's worth, these servers are not listed on any major blacklists)

  • Identifying mail account used in CRAM-MD5 transaction

    I suppose this is one of those where the tool for identifying the problem is also the tool used for taking advantage of it. I have a mail server that I am seeing emails that spam is being sent through it. It is not an open relay, the messages in question are being sent by someone authenticating to the smtp with CRAM-MD5. However, the logs only capture the actual data passed, which has been hashed so I cannot see what user account is being used. My suspicion is a simple username/password combo or a user account's password has otherwise been compromised, but I cannot do much about it without knowing what user it is. Of course I can block the IP that is doing it, but that doesn't fix the real problem. I have both the CRAM-MD5 Base64 challenge string and the hashed client auth string containing the username, password and challenge string. I am looking for a way to either reverse this (which I haven't been able to find any information on) or otherwise I suppose I need a dictionary attack tool designed for CRAM-MD5 to run through two lists, one for username and one for password and the constant of the challenge string until it finds a matching result of the authentication string I have logged. Any information on reversing using the data I have logged, a tool to identify it or any alternative methods you have used for this situation would be greatly appreciated.

    I have just finished setting up dovecot and postfix on my server (centos 5.5/apache) earlier today. So far I've been able to get email working through webmin (can send/receive to and from external domains). However, attempting to telnet xxx.xxx.xx.xxx 110 returns the following errors: Connected to xxx.xxx.xx.xxx. Escape character is '^]'. +OK Dovecot ready. USER mailtest +OK PASS ********* +OK Logged in. -ERR [IN-USE] Couldn't open INBOX: Internal error occurred. Refer to server log for more information. I've pretty much exhausted every resource, and tried every suggestion for my dovecot.conf file, but so far nothing seems to work :( I feel like it may be a permissions/ownership issue, but i'm lost as to specifics.

I am trying to support a user that is running an SBS2003 Server with Exchange.   • Gmail won't forward mail sent to myself.

    I own a dedicated server with a domain, we'll say foobar.com. I use google apps to manage my email SMTP servers. Now I don't check two gmail inboxes. I have my own personal one, and then I have foobar.com's inbox from google apps. Naturally the easiest thing to do is just have all foobar's emails forwarded to my personal one. So then I am only checking 1 inbox. This is all fine and dandy. I use MSMTP that with a wrapper that uses /etc/aliases. I have it set so any mail attempting to go to root (Things from cron, etc) will go to [email protected]. So when google app's (foobar.com) gets an email from the email I have setup with it ([email protected]), it automatically doesn't forward the message. This is a "feature" to gmail/google apps I suppose. How do I get around it? workarounds? etc. I could just have my alias set to my personal email but I wanted a place to have all foobar related emails archived in one place (googleapps).

  • Lotus Notes 8.0.2 - how to stop all mail showing in customized view

    I am using Lotus Notes 8.0.2 at work and unfortunately the admin restricted changing default folders design. Only little changes are possible (e.g. change columns order) and even them are resetted each time I restart the client. I've created a new view with my desired column order, changed sorting etc. I have only one problem - even though I changed the "view" preference to show messages from the inbox folder only, I keep seeing all mail, regardless of the folder they are placed into. I'm not a Lotus expert and don't really know how to code. Yet, I am surprised as I see in a "simple view" this: uses '(ChangeMeetingType), ...' form AND In folder 'Inbox' And in Formula view only this: SELECT ((Form = "(ChangeMeetingType)") | (Form = "(Return Receipt)") | (Form = "Return Receipt") | (Form = "(ReturnNonReceipt)") | (Form = "ReturnNonReceipt") | (Form = "Memo") | (Form = "Memo") | (Form = "MemoEA") | (Form = "Reply") | (Form = "Reply") | (Form = "Reply With History") | (Form = "Reply With History") | (Form = "To Do") | (Form = "Task") | (Form = "_Document Memo") | (Form = "$DocMemo") | (Form = "Word.   • Outlook 2010 - Missing New Mail Envelope Icon

    I've seen a number of posts related to this issue, but none with a solution that works for me. I have: Windows 7 Professional 64 bit Office/Outlook 2010 "Show an envelope icon in the taskbar" checked "Hide When Minmized" selected "Show icon and notifications" selected for Outlook in my taskbar settings This used to show me the envelope icon in my notifications area. Then something happened with my user profile and the sys admins created me a new one. Since then, the envelope only displays if Outlook is not minimized. It doesn't matter if I unselect "Hide When Minmized", the icon still doesn't display when new mail arrives. If I select "Display a Desktop Alert", then the icon is displayed. However, I HATE the desktop alert as I find it too intrusive/distracting. Is there some way to just get the envelope icon working (again)? UPDATE More testing and sometimes I will and sometimes I won't get an envelope icon with the desktop alert turned on. This is driving me nuts!! UPDATE TWO I like my notification area of the taskbar to be clean. So, all icons are set to "Only show notifications" except for Outlook as noted above. I've noticed the envelope icon is being displayed in the expanded notification area when I click on the up arrow to view all icons. So, it is being added to the notification area, but not displayed. It's a rather useless feature now...

  • Google MAIL not arriving - relay not allowed

    I have a server with sendmail, hosting my domain mind-zone.nl, i changed the MX records to point to the server. When I use Hotmail or any other client the email arrives and everything is fine. ONLY mail from GMAIL server is bounced and gmail returns "relay denied". I have set all the virtual server host settings etc, from command line I can send mails as well, hotmail works, etc. Just not gmail. The strange thing is, this is what gmail returns: Look at the lower part: "Received by" it returns some IP address which is not mine and has absolutely nothing with my domain. While when I do a NSLOOKUP and change to google's DNS server it will state that the IP Address for my domain is correctly pointing at my server. Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error.   • java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError in command line

    Hi, I'm developing an application in Eclipse and it runs fine from within Eclipse. The problem I'm having is that when I export it to a jar file and run it from the command line I get a NoClassDefFound error for javax.mail.internet. In both my project build path and class path I have included the activation.jar and mail.jar libraries required for me to use javax.mail.internet, and like I said it works fine from within Eclipse but not when I export it to a jar. If my build path has those files and so does my class path why would this not be working?   • Regex to match the first file in a rar archive file set in Python

    I need to uncompress all the files in a directory and for this I need to find the first file in the set. I'm currently doing this using a bunch of if statements and loops. Can i do this this using regex? Here's a list of files that i need to match: yes.rar yes.part1.rar yes.part01.rar yes.part001.rar yes.r01 yes.r001 These should NOT be matched: no.part2.rar no.part02.rar no.part002.rar no.part011.rar no.r002 no.r02 I found a similar regex on this thread but it seems that Python doesn't support varible length lookarounds. A single line regex would be complicated but I'll document it well and it's not a problem. It's just one of those problems you beat your heap up, over. Thanks in advance guys. :)

  • Sending email to google apps mailbox via exim4

    I have a hosting server with several users. One of the customers decided to move his email account to google apps and added the corresponding MX records so he can receive email now. But when it comes to sending email from my server to those email addresses, they don't make it. I guess it's because exim still thinks these domains are local.     I am experimenting with creating a table that keeps a version of every row. The idea is to be able to query for how the rows were at any point in time even if the query has JOINs.
