  Previous information concerning my issue can be found here: Virus...? Tons of people talking. Not sure where else to ask. I heard the loud sounds and whatnot from one of the ads but nothing was harmed and other than having the life scared out of me nothing was immediately affected. Literally nothing has changed. I really don't know what to do. My PC seems fine and from what Malwarebytes and Spybot tells me none of my files have been infected with anything.   I get the following message when I insert my pen drive to USB port. I am unable to format it as well. • Acer Aspire One 725 - missing graphic card driver?

  Recently I bought an Acer Aspire One 725 Netbook and installed Ubuntu 12.10 on it. I bought it, because it can run HD movies and has Full HD on external VGA port. However, movies from youtube have a really slow framerate. If you open three tabs in Opera (for example g-mail, youtube and askubuntu) it gets really laggy. My suspicion is that the driver for graphic card is missing. When I check the System->Details->Graphics the driver is unknown. After running lspci | grep VGA I get this output: 00:01.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Device 980a From what I see, I have a AMD C70 processor integrated with (or something similar) AMD Radeon HD 6290. Has anyone had the same problem? Do you know which drivers need to be installed for the graphics to work properly? On official Acer page there are only drivers for Win7 and Win8...   Possible Duplicate: How to find web hosting that meets my requirements? I often times build web applications purely because I enjoy it. I like building useful tools or open source applications that don't come with a price tag. That being said, many of these applications can be quite complex requiring services beyond shared hosting (ex. specific PHP extensions). This leaves me with two options: Make the web application less complex and run on shared hosting. Fork out money for cloud or dedicated/VPS hosting. Considering the application is free (I don't make money off of it intentionally), the money for hosting comes out of my own pocket. I know I am not alone in this sticky situation. So the question is, what are the hosting options that provide more advanced features such as shell access via SSH, ability to install specific software/extensions (ex. if I wish to use a NoSQL DB such as Redis, MongoDB, or Cassandra), etc., at a free or low price point? I know free usually equates to bad/unreliable hosting -- but it's not always the case. There are a couple providers with free plans I know of: Amazon EC2 - Free micro-instance for 1 year AppHarbor - Cloud based .NET web application hosting w/ free plan. What else is available for hosting of non-profit applications?

• How can I get the path to a Windows service executable WITHOUT using sc qc?

  I need to query a windows service for the path to it's executable via the command prompt. I think the way I would do this is:sc qc myServiceName, but when I do that, I get the following error: [SC] QueryServiceConfig FAILED 122: The data area passed to a system call is too small. [SC] GetServiceConfig needs 1094 bytes I think this means that the sc command is sending a data structure to some other library that is too small for the data that needs to be returned. Instead of SC nicely retrying with a larger data structure (1094 bytes) it bombs out and gives me this ugly error message. Thanks Micro$oft. So is there a way to work around this error? I just need the path to the executable, but will parse it out of some other text if needed.

  Following the post on SSISDB script on Gist, I’ve been working on a HTML5 SSIS Dashboard, in order to have a nice looking, user friendly and, most of all, useful, SSIS Dashboard. Since this is a “spare-time” project, I’ve decided to develop it using Python since it’s THE data language (R aside), it’s a beautiful & powerful, well established and well documented and with a rich ecosystem around. Plus it has full support in Visual Studio, through the amazing Python Tools For Visual Studio plugin, I decided also to use Flask, a very good micro-framework to create websites, and use the SB Admin 2.0 Bootstrap admin template, since I’m all but a Web Designer. The result is here: https://github.com/yorek/ssis-dashboard and I can say I’m pretty satisfied with the work done so far (I’ve worked on it for probably less than 24 hours). Though there’s some features I’d like to add in t future (historical execution time, some charts, connection with AzureML to do prediction on expected execution times) it’s already usable. Of course I’ve tested it only on my development machine, so check twice before putting it in production but, give the fact that, virtually, there is not installation needed (you only need to install Python), and that all queries are based on standard SSISDB objects, I expect no big problems.   I'm currently working on a multiplayer game. I've looked at a number of multiplayer services(player.io, playphone, gamespy, and others) but nothing really hits the mark. They are missing features, lack platform support or cost too much. What I'm looking for is a simple poor man's version of steam or xbox live. Not the game marketplace side of those two but the multiplayer services. User accounts, profiles, presence info, friends, game stats, invites, on/offline messaging. Basically I'm looking for a unified multiplayer platform for all my games across devices. Since I can't find what I'm planning to roll my own piece by piece. I plan to save on server resources by making most of the communication p2p. Things like game data and voice chat can be handled between peers and the server keeps track of user presence and only send updates when needed or requested. I know this runs the risk of cheating but that isn't a concern right now. I plan to run this on a Amazon ec2 micro server for development then move to a small to large instance when finished. I figure user accounts would be the simplest to start with. Users can create accounts online or using in game dialog, login/out, change profile info. The user can access this info online or in game. I will need user authentication and secure communication between server and client. I figure all info will be stored in a database but I dont know how it can be stored securely and accessed from webserver and game services. I would appreciate and links to tutorials, info or advice anyone could provide to get me started. Any programming language is fine but I plan to use c# on the server and c/c++ on devices. I would like to get started right away but I'm in no hurry to get it finished just yet. If you know of a service that already fits my requirements please let me know.

• How do I nstall MS Office 2010 via WINE?

  I am trying to install MS Office 2010 on Ubuntu 12.04 on my new MacBook Pro (15"). I already read and followed every existing threads on forums and followed every existing tutorial, but my problem seem unique so far, since whichever solution I try, the problem remains. When I launch PlayOnLinux, two boxes appear one after the other (before the latest upgrade of Ubuntu of last week, the second box did not appear, only the first one did); the first one tells me: Error: PlayOnLinux is unable to find 32-bits OpenGL libraries. You might encounter problem with your games." When I close this window, a second one pops up, stating: Error: PlayOnLinux cannot find 7z. You should install it to use PlayOnLinux. Of course, I tried purging PlayOnLinux (uninstalling it and re-installing it). I also tried other versions of PlayOnLinux. Nothing matters: the problem remains. I did not succeed so far to install 32-bits OpenGL libraries, since I have a Radeon graphics card (which seems to be unusual) and I just cannot find these libraries. Once the two "error" boxes are closed, PlayOnLinux is open, but does not seem to work properly; when I try to install Microsoft Office 2010, nothing happens. When I try to close PlayOnLinux, it is even worse: Unity seems unable to close it (I even had a frozen screen when trying to xkill it through the terminal). • Different methods of ammo resupply

  I'm writing a small game at the moment. Presently, I have one or two design elements that aren't locked down yet, and I wanted to ask for input on one of these. For dramatic effect, the player's character in my game is immobilised, alone and has a supposedly limited amount of ammo for their weapons. However, I would like to periodically resupply the player with ammo (for the purpose of balancing the level of difficulty and to allow the player to continue if they're doing well). I'm trying to think of a method of resupply that's different to the more familiar strategies of making ammo magically appear or having the antagonists drop some when they die. I'd like to emphasise the notion of the player's isolation as much as possible, and finding a way of 'sneaking' ammo to the player without removing too much of that emphasis is basically what I'm trying to think of (it's definitely a valid argument that resupplying the player removes it anyway) I have considered a sort of simple in-game 'store', where kills get you points that you can spend on ammo for your favourite weapon. This might work well, and may also be good for supporting a simple micro-transaction business model within the game. However, you'd have to pause the game often to make purchases, which would interrupt the action, and it works against the notion of isolation. Any thoughts?

  I have ready LAMP environment on my amazon Ec2 micro instance(Ubuntu). I have installed phpmyadmin distribution of ubuntu. selected apache2 as the server, then selected 'yes' for 'db-common-config' option. after its completed, I suppose to access it via http://server/phpmyadmin, right? But I can't access it. Is there any way to verify whether its been installed properly and running properly plz? Or do I have to do anything further? Thanks in advance.

• Simple, manageable DNS on EC2?

  I'm working on a large network of servers sitting on EC2, and need a way for the servers to know about each other's locations in the cloud. I thought the simplest way would be to use DNS, because if I replace the EC2 instance, I simply update the DNS record, and the rest of the servers will know about it (with names like users.db.mysoft.com, routing.mysoft.com, cluster1.memcached.mysoft.com). I'm considering setting up a master DNS server on a micro/small instance to accommodate this. I'd preferably need something that's as simple as a key-value store (hostname - IP) into which the platform could remotely add/remove entries. Can I do this with BIND? Or is there a better solution?

• DNSHost.exe trojan found, now after fix, no one can print

  What started today as an inability to get to the internet (but people could get in just fine), morphed to we realized that the DNS Server wasn't working, then we figured out that we had a trojan called DNSHost.exe (spybot.rl I think), and we disabled its service entry and deleted the offending file and all registry keys told to use by the Trend Micro site. Now, we can get on the internet, but the printer being served by this machine (called server2) cannot be printed to from any client machine on the network. We get the error "The RPC Server is unavailable". I'm assuming that this is related to the DNS issue we had earlier, as we were able to print just fine until this fun happiness started this morning. Anyone have any solid suggestions? Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2, and the client machine are all Windows XP SP2.

• X11 Forwarding works on Windows with Xming and Putty, but not with ssh command line

  I have a micro Amazon instance the I want to use for testing and everything is going fine until the title. If I set up all the info in PuTTy, open it up and run 'xclock', all runs perfectly and it opens on Xming on my local desktop. If, however, I run ssh xxxxxxx.amazonaws.com xclock I get Error: Can't open display: If I run either of ssh xxxxxxx.amazonaws.com -X DISPLAY=localhost:0:0 xclock ssh xxxxxxx.amazonaws.com -Y DISPLAY=localhost:0:0 xclock I get the same again, but just after about a 30 second delay. In .ssh/config in Windows, I do have ForwardX11 yes set, and I really can't think of anything more to get this working. The fact that PuTTy is working perfectly, not no matter what I do on the command line, I get absolutely no joy is driving me crazy. Can I even see the commands PuTTy is running somewhere, to see if it's doing some extra magic? The ssh I'm running in Windows is MinGW32's.
