  • Passing a Java object from one Struts action to another

    - by Bernhard V
    Hello! In one of my Struts action I've got the following code in a method: ... List<Object> retrievedListOfObjects = c.getListOfObjects(); return mapping.findForward("fw_view"); } fw_view leads to a new Struts action with another Struts form. Let's say this form has got among others the following field List<Object> listOfObjects; I now want to pass the retrievedListOfObjects from within the first Struts action to the form of the following Struts action. Is this possible without storing it in the session?

  • Passing multiple arguments to a UNIX shell script

    - by Waffles
    I have the following (bash) shell script, that I would ideally use to kill multiple processes by name. #!/bin/bash kill `ps -A | grep $* | awk '{ print $1 }'` However, while this script works is one argument is passed: end chrome (the name of the script is end) it does not work if more than one argument is passed: $end chrome firefox grep: firefox: No such file or directory What is going on here? I thought the $* passes multiple arguments to the shell script in sequence. I'm not mistyping anything in my input - and I the programs I want to kill (chrome and firefox) are open. Any help is appreciated.

  • Jasper Reports - Add one day to a Date Parameter

    - by Templar
    I'm creating a Jasper report that includes the following parameters: DATESTART (Date) DATEEND (Date) These parameters indicate a date range for a field called DATECREATED (Timestamp) which includes times. I would like the date range to be INCLUSIVE, that is, if I filter for "Jan 1, 2009" to "Jan 31, 2009", any DATECREATED value on Jan 31, 2009 (such as "Jan 31, 2009 15:00") will be included in the report. When I used Crystal Reports in the past, I used the DATEADD function to create a filter expression like the following: {DATECREATED} >= {DATESTART} and {DATECREATED} < DATEADD("d", 1, {DATEEND}) (I realize that this isn't syntactically correct, but you get the idea.) Is there any way to do something similar in Jasper Reports?

  • QtScript: Passing an array of objects to C++

    - by Plow
    Hi, I want to pass an array of objects from my QtScript to C++ but I have not been able to figure out how to achieve this. As soon as I create an array, the elements inside it are converted to strings before I can access them. This is what I have been trying so far: class myObject : public QObject, public QScriptable { Q_OBJECT public Q_SLOTS: void test(QVariantList list); }; void myObject::test(QVariantList list) { for (QVariantList::const_iterator it = list.begin(); it != list.end(); ++it) { QVariant element = *it; qDebug() << "List element type: " << element.typeName(); if (element.canConvert<QVariantMap>()) { // Not getting here } } } The following script myObject.test([{"foo": 1, "bar": 2}, {"baaz": 3, "baaaz": 4}]); prints List element type: "QString" List element type: "QString" I am using Qt 4.6...

  • "[object Object]" passed instead of the actual object as parameter

    - by Andrew Latham
    I am using Heroku with a Ruby on Rails application, and running from Safari. I have the following Ajax call: $.ajax({ type : 'POST', url : '/test_page', data : {stuff: arr1}, dataType : 'script' }); arr1 is supposed to be an array of objects. There's a console.log right before that, and it is: [Object, Object, Object, Object, Object, ...] However, I got an error on the server side when I made this ajax call. The logs showed 2012-10-01T03:13:34+00:00 app[web.1]: Parameters: {"stuff"=>"[object Object]"} 2012-10-01T03:13:34+00:00 app[web.1]: WARNING: Can't verify CSRF token authenticity 2012-10-01T03:13:34+00:00 app[web.1]: NoMethodError (undefined method `to_hash' for "[object Object]":String): 2012-10-01T03:13:34+00:00 app[web.1]: Completed 500 Internal Server Error in 1ms I'm unable to replicate the error. It's really confusing to me - what would cause that string to sometimes be passed to the server instead of the object?

  • passing groups of properties from 1 class to another

    - by insanepaul
    I have a group of 13 properties in a class. I created a struct for these properties and passed it to another class. I need to add another 10 groups of these 13 properties. So thats 130 properties in total. What do I do? I could add all 130 properties to the struct. Will this affect performance and readability I could create a list of structs but don't know how to access an item eg. to add to the list: listRowItems.Add(new RowItems(){a=1, b=1, c=1, d=1...}); listRowItems.Add(new RowItems(){a=2, b=2, c=2, d=2...}); How do I access the second group item b? is it Could I use just a dictionary with 130 items Should I use a list of dictionaries (again I don't know how to access a particular item) Should I pass in a class of 130 properties Just for your interest the properties are css parameters used for a composite control. The control displays 13 elements in each row and there are 10 rows and each row is customisable.

  • Default type-parametrized function literal class parameter

    - by doom2.wad
    Is this an intended behavior or is it a bug? Consider the following trait (be it a class, doesn't matter): trait P[T] { class Inner(val f: T => Unit = _ => println("nope")) } This is what I would have expected: scala> val p = new P[Int] { | val inner = new Inner | } p: java.lang.Object with P[Int]{def inner: this.Inner} = $anon$1@12192a9 scala> p.inner.f(5) nope But this? scala> val p = new P[Int] { | val inner = new Inner() { | println("some primary constructor code in here") | } | } <console>:6: error: type mismatch; found : (T) => Unit required: (Int) => Unit val inner = new Inner() { ^

  • Passing Objects between different files

    - by user309779
    Typically, if I want to pass an object to an instance of something I would do it like so... Listing 1 File 1: public class SomeClass { // Some Properties public SomeClass() { public int ID { get { return mID; } set { mID = value; } } public string Name { set { mName = value; } get { return mName; } } } } public class SomeOtherClass { // Method 1 private void Method1(int one, int two) { SomeClass USER; // Create an instance Squid RsP = new Squid(); RsP.sqdReadUserConf(USER); // Able to pass 'USER' to class method in different file. } } In this example, I was not able to use the above approach. Probably because the above example passes an object between classes. Whereas, below, things are defined in a single class. I had to use some extra steps (trial & error) to get things to work. I am not sure what I did here or what its called. Is it good programming practice? Or is there is an easier way to do this (like above). Listing 2 File 1: private void SomeClass1 { [snip] TCOpt_fM.AutoUpdate = optAutoUpdate.Checked; TCOpt_fM.WhiteList = optWhiteList.Checked; TCOpt_fM.BlackList = optBlackList.Checked; [snip] private TCOpt TCOpt_fM; TCOpt_fM.SaveOptions(TCOpt_fM); } File 2: public class TCOpt: { public TCOpt OPTIONS; [snip] private bool mAutoUpdate = true; private bool mWhiteList = true; private bool mBlackList = true; [snip] public bool AutoUpdate { get { return mAutoUpdate; } set { mAutoUpdate = value; } } public bool WhiteList { get { return mWhiteList; } set { mWhiteList = value; } } public bool BlackList { get { return mBlackList; } set { mBlackList = value; } } [snip] public bool SaveOptions(TCOpt OPTIONS) { [snip] Some things being written out to a file here [snip] Squid soSwGP = new Squid(); soSgP.sqdWriteGlobalConf(OPTIONS); } } File 3: public class SomeClass2 { public bool sqdWriteGlobalConf(TCOpt OPTIONS) { Console.WriteLine(OPTIONS.WhiteSites); // Nothing prints here Console.WriteLine(OPTIONS.BlackSites); // Or here } } Thanks in advance, XO

  • Passing parameters to eventListener function

    - by bryan sammon
    I have this function check(e) that I'd like to be able to pass parameters from test() when I add it to the eventListener. Is this possible? I put the javascript below, I also have it on jsbin: http://jsbin.com/ujahe3/9/edit function test() { if (!document.getElementById('myid')) { var mainlink = document.getElementById('mainlink'); var newElem = document.createElement('span'); mainlink.appendChild(newElem); var linkElemAttrib = document.createAttribute('id'); linkElemAttrib.value = "myid"; newElem.setAttributeNode(linkElemAttrib); var linkElem = document.createElement('a'); newElem.appendChild(linkElem); var linkElemAttrib = document.createAttribute('href'); linkElemAttrib.value = "jsbin.com"; linkElem.setAttributeNode(linkElemAttrib); var linkElemText = document.createTextNode('new click me'); linkElem.appendChild(linkElemText); if (document.addEventListener) { document.addEventListener('click', check/*(WOULD LIKE TO PASS PARAMETERS HERE)*/, false); }; }; }; function check(e) { if (document.getElementById('myid')) { if (document.getElementById('myid').parentNode === document.getElementById('mainlink')) { var target = (e && e.target) || (event && event.srcElement); var obj = document.getElementById('mainlink'); if (target!= obj) { obj.removeChild(obj.lastChild); }; }; }; };

  • Trouble passing JSP values to ActionForm (Struts)

    - by tacotime
    Hi, I am a newbie to Struts and have inherited a problem. I am trying to pass 3 values contained in the same table cell from a JSP to my ActionForm class. The first value (and others in the JSP) work fine, but for some reason the other two do not. I have the appropriate getters and setters, but only the first (newrecnum) shows up, the other two are null. Is there a limitation to only pass the first value? Or is there something else wrong? Here is the JSP code: <td> <html:text size="10" maxlength="10" property="newrecnum"/><br> <html:text size="5" maxlength="5" property="newrectime"/> <html:select property="newreccode" disabled="true"> <html:option value="YES">YES</html:option> <html:option value="NO">NO</html:option></html:select> </td> I can include the ActionForm code as well if needed. Thanks!

  • mockito mock a constructor with parameter

    - by Shengjie
    I have a class as below: public class A { public A(String test) { bla bla bla } public String check() { bla bla bla } } The logic in the constructor A(String test) and check() are the things I am trying to mock. I want any calls like: new A($$$any string$$$).check() returns a dummy string "test". I tried: A a = mock(A.class); when(a.check()).thenReturn("test"); String test = a.check(); // to this point, everything works. test shows as "tests" whenNew(A.class).withArguments(Matchers.anyString()).thenReturn(rk); // also tried: //whenNew(A.class).withParameterTypes(String.class).withArguments(Matchers.anyString()).thenReturn(rk); new A("random string").check(); // this doesn't work But it doesn't seem to be working. new A($$$any string$$$).check() is still going through the constructor logic instead of fetch the mocked object of A.

  • Why does using Collections.emptySet() with generics work in assignment but not as a method parameter

    - by Karl von L
    So, I have a class with a constructor like this: public FilterList(Set<Integer> labels) { ... } and I want to construct a new FilterList object with an empty set. Following Joshua Bloch's advice in his book Effective Java, I don't want to create a new object for the empty set; I'll just use Collections.emptySet() instead: FilterList emptyList = new FilterList(Collections.emptySet()); This gives me an error, complaining that java.util.Set<java.lang.Object> is not a java.util.Set<java.lang.Integer>. OK, how about this: FilterList emptyList = new FilterList((Set<Integer>)Collections.emptySet()); This also gives me an error! Ok, how about this: Set<Integer> empty = Collections.emptySet(); FilterList emptyList = new FilterList(empty); Hey, it works! But why? After all, Java doesn't have type inference, which is why you get an unchecked conversion warning if you do Set<Integer> foo = new TreeSet() instead of Set<Integer> foo = new TreeSet<Integer>(). But Set<Integer> empty = Collections.emptySet(); works without even a warning. Why is that?

    I know the title sound confusing and thats because it is. its a bit long so try too stay with me. this is the layout i have my code designed variables constructor methods. im trying too fill a Jlist full on names. i want too get those names using a method. so here goes. in my variables i have my JList. its called contactNames; i also have an array which stores 5 strings which are the contacts names; heres the code for that anyway String contact1; String contact2; String contact3; String contact4; String contact5; String[] contactListNames; JList contactList; simple enough. then in my constructor i have the Jlist defined to fill itself with the contents of the array fillContactList(); JList contactList = new JList(contactListNames); that method fillContactList() is coming up shortly. notice i dont have the array defined in the constructor. so heres my first question. can i do that? define the array to contain something in te constructor rather than filling it fromt the array. now heres where stuff gets balls up. ive created three different methods all of which havent worked. basically im trying to fill the array with all of them. this is the simplest one. it doesnt set the Jlist, it doesnt do anything compilicated. all it trys too do is fill the array one bit at a time public void fillContactList() { for(int i = 0;i<3;i++) { try { String contact; System.out.println(" please fill the list at index "+ i); Scanner in = new Scanner(System.in); contact = in.next(); contactListNames[i] = contact; in.nextLine(); } catch(Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } } unfortunately this doesnt qwork. i get the print out to fill it at index 0; i input something and i get a nice big stack trace starting at contactListNames[i] = contact; so my two questions in short are how i define an array in a constructor. and why cant i fill the array from that method. ************************888 **************************888 stack trace by request please fill the list at index 0 overtone java.lang.NullPointerException please fill the list at index 1 at project.AdminMessages.fillContactList(AdminMessages.java:408) at project.AdminMessages.<init>(AdminMessages.java:88) at project.AdminUser.createAdminMessages(AdminUser.java:32) at project.AdminUser.<init>(AdminUser.java:18) at project.AdminUser.main(AdminUser.java:47) it was a null poiinter exception

  • Passing variables to callback functions

    - by mickyjtwin
    I am trying to write a jQuery plugin, that can be applied to a selector. Within this plugin, there are multiple calls to webservices, where callback methods are required. The problem I am having is maintaining the current context item in the each loop of the selector. (function($){ $.fn.myMethod = function(){ return this.each(function(){ var c = $(this); $.api.methodToCall("", CallbackFunction); }); }; function CallbackFunction(data, result){ // do stuff based on c } })(jQuery); Normally, you would provide the callback function straight away, which allows me to access c, however within the callback function, there potentially is another api call, so it would start to get messy. Is there any way to do this?
