  • Why a different SHA-1 for the same file under windows or linux?

    - by Fabio Vitale
Why on the same machine computing the SHA-1 hash of the same file produces two completely different SHA-1 hashes in windows and inside a msysgit Git bash? Doesn't the SHA-1 algorithm was intended to produce the same hash for the same file in all OSes? On windows (with HashCheck): File hello.txt 22596363b3de40b06f981fb85d82312e8c0ed511 Inside a msysgit's Git bash windows (same machine, same file): $ git hash-object hello.txt 3b18e512dba79e4c8300dd08aeb37f8e728b8dad

  • Python - create blacklist file of IP addresses that have more than 5 failed login attempts in the au

    - by oz_babe
Basically I have an authlog/syslog file with a list of log in attempts and IP addresses - I need to make a Python program that will create a txt file with all the IP addresses that have more than 5 failed login attempts - a sort of "blacklist". So basically something like: if "uniqueipaddress" and "authentication failure" appear more than 5 times, add uniqueipaddress to txt file. Any help would be greatly appreciated - please try and make it simple as I am very, very inexperienced in programming in Python! Thanks.

    - by Bi
My C# application throws a System.IO.IOExcepton (The directory name is invalid) for the following code for implementing a filewatcher: public void OnChanged(object source, FileSystemEventArgs e) { DirectoryInfo dList = new DirectoryInfo(e.FullPath); FileInfo[] TxtFiles = dList.GetFiles("*.TXT"); } e.FullPath is "C:/Documents and Settings/Bi/Application Data/TestApp/Reports\\0MA01P62240_000005798_TRI_4947712701738551.TXT". If you notice it seems to append a "\\" to the path when it tracks the file. Any idea what the problem may be?

  • Create a CSR in C# using an explicit RSA key-pair

    - by rlandster
Using the OpenSSL libraries one can create a CSR (certificate signing request) by doing this: openssl genrsa -out rsa.key 1024 openssl req -new -key rsa.key -out output.csr -config config.txt where config.txt contains the distinguished name to use in the certificate. I would like to do something similar under Windows using C#. However, the method createPKCS10 does not require you to supply an RSA key. Is there a way to get C# to generate an explicit RSA private key and then use that private key to create the CSR?

  • C# System.Diagnostics.Process redirecting Standard Out for large amounts of data

    - by Matt
I running an exe from a .NET app and trying to redirect standard out to a streamreader. The problem is that when I do myprocess.exe out.txt out.txt is close to 14mb. When I do the command line version it is very fast but when I run the process from my csharp app it is excruciatingly slow because I believe the default streamreader flushes every 4096 bytes. Is there a way to change the default stream reader for the Process object?

Hi, Has anyone encountered something like this? I was expecting file.txt to be inside "testbranch/src/" folder after executing the command written command. In Web browser if I look under src folder of testbranch, it shows file contents of file.text. svn copy "https://repos/svn/myrepo/trunk/src/file.txt" "https://repos/svn/myrepo/branches/testbranch/src/" -m "Testing"

  • hexdump confusion

    - by zedoo
I am playing with the unix hexdump utility. My input file is UTF-8 encoded, containing a single character ñ, which is C3 B1 in hexadecimal UTF-8. hexdump test.txt 0000000 b1c3 0000002 Huh? This shows B1 C3 - the inverse of what I expected! Can someone explain? For getting the expected output I do: hexdump -C test.txt 00000000 c3 b1 |..| 00000002 I was thinking I understand encoding systems..
