  • How do I connect a dataGrid to a DataSet

    - by orangecl4now
    using System.Windows; namespace Telephone_Directory { /// <summary> /// Interaction logic for MainWindow.xaml /// </summary> public partial class MainWindow : Window { public MainWindow() { InitializeComponent(); telephone2010DataSet dataSet = new telephone2010DataSet(); telephone2010DataSetTableAdapter adapter = new telephone2010DataSetTableAdapter(); } } } The above is my code is a new project. Visual Studio 2010 complains that " the type or namespace 'telephone2010DataSetTableAdapter' could not be found." I created a new solution. I right clicked the solution name and selected "Add Existing Item" and located my Microsoft Access DB file. I followed the wizard and it setup the necessary XSD files. I started coding and I got this message. I did a little google-ing and I cant figure it out. This is a WPF application created with Visual Studio 2010.

  • Change English numbers to Persian and vice versa in MVC (httpmodule)?

    - by Mohammad
    I wanna change all English numbers to Persian for showing to users. and change them to English numbers again for giving all requests (Postbacks) e.g: we have something like this in view IRQ170, I wanna show IRQ??? to users and give IRQ170 from users. I know, I have to use Httpmodule, But I don't know how ? Could you please guide me? Edit : Let me describe more : I've written the following http module : using System; using System.Collections.Specialized; using System.Diagnostics; using System.IO; using System.Text; using System.Text.RegularExpressions; using System.Web; using System.Web.UI; using Smartiz.Common; namespace Smartiz.UI.Classes { public class PersianNumberModule : IHttpModule { private StreamWatcher _watcher; #region Implementation of IHttpModule /// <summary> /// Initializes a module and prepares it to handle requests. /// </summary> /// <param name="context">An <see cref="T:System.Web.HttpApplication"/> that provides access to the methods, properties, and events common to all application objects within an ASP.NET application </param> public void Init(HttpApplication context) { context.BeginRequest += ContextBeginRequest; context.EndRequest += ContextEndRequest; } /// <summary> /// Disposes of the resources (other than memory) used by the module that implements <see cref="T:System.Web.IHttpModule"/>. /// </summary> public void Dispose() { } #endregion private void ContextBeginRequest(object sender, EventArgs e) { HttpApplication context = sender as HttpApplication; if (context == null) return; _watcher = new StreamWatcher(context.Response.Filter); context.Response.Filter = _watcher; } private void ContextEndRequest(object sender, EventArgs e) { HttpApplication context = sender as HttpApplication; if (context == null) return; _watcher = new StreamWatcher(context.Response.Filter); context.Response.Filter = _watcher; } } public class StreamWatcher : Stream { private readonly Stream _stream; private readonly MemoryStream _memoryStream = new MemoryStream(); public StreamWatcher(Stream stream) { _stream = stream; } public override void Flush() { _stream.Flush(); } public override int Read(byte[] buffer, int offset, int count) { int bytesRead = _stream.Read(buffer, offset, count); string orgContent = Encoding.UTF8.GetString(buffer, offset, bytesRead); string newContent = orgContent.ToEnglishNumber(); int newByteCountLength = Encoding.UTF8.GetByteCount(newContent); Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(newContent, 0, Encoding.UTF8.GetByteCount(newContent), buffer, 0); return newByteCountLength; } public override void Write(byte[] buffer, int offset, int count) { string strBuffer = Encoding.UTF8.GetString(buffer, offset, count); MatchCollection htmlAttributes = Regex.Matches(strBuffer, @"(\S+)=[""']?((?:.(?![""']?\s+(?:\S+)=|[>""']))+.)[""']?", RegexOptions.IgnoreCase | RegexOptions.Multiline); foreach (Match match in htmlAttributes) { strBuffer = strBuffer.Replace(match.Value, match.Value.ToEnglishNumber()); } MatchCollection scripts = Regex.Matches(strBuffer, "<script[^>]*>(.*?)</script>", RegexOptions.Singleline | RegexOptions.IgnoreCase | RegexOptions.Multiline | RegexOptions.IgnorePatternWhitespace); foreach (Match match in scripts) { MatchCollection values = Regex.Matches(match.Value, @"([""'])(?:(?=(\\?))\2.)*?\1", RegexOptions.Singleline | RegexOptions.IgnoreCase | RegexOptions.Multiline | RegexOptions.IgnorePatternWhitespace); foreach (Match stringValue in values) { strBuffer = strBuffer.Replace(stringValue.Value, stringValue.Value.ToEnglishNumber()); } } MatchCollection styles = Regex.Matches(strBuffer, "<style[^>]*>(.*?)</style>", RegexOptions.Singleline | RegexOptions.IgnoreCase | RegexOptions.Multiline | RegexOptions.IgnorePatternWhitespace); foreach (Match match in styles) { strBuffer = strBuffer.Replace(match.Value, match.Value.ToEnglishNumber()); } byte[] data = Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(strBuffer); _memoryStream.Write(data, offset, count); _stream.Write(data, offset, count); } public override string ToString() { return Encoding.UTF8.GetString(_memoryStream.ToArray()); } #region Rest of the overrides public override bool CanRead { get { throw new NotImplementedException(); } } public override bool CanSeek { get { throw new NotImplementedException(); } } public override bool CanWrite { get { throw new NotImplementedException(); } } public override long Seek(long offset, SeekOrigin origin) { throw new NotImplementedException(); } public override void SetLength(long value) { throw new NotImplementedException(); } public override long Length { get { throw new NotImplementedException(); } } public override long Position { get { throw new NotImplementedException(); } set { throw new NotImplementedException(); } } #endregion } } It works well, but It converts all numbers in css and scripts files to Persian and it causes error.

  • listbox isSelected databinding in DataTemplate

    - by Kinmarui
    I try to simply databind IsSelected property with IsSelected field in my class. But after I change the value in code its doesn't change the property, neither does clicking on ListBoxItem change the field value. XAML: <FlipView ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource itemsViewSource}}" ... > <FlipView.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <UserControl Loaded="StartLayoutUpdates" Unloaded="StopLayoutUpdates"> <!-- other controls --> <ListBox Grid.Row="1" Grid.ColumnSpan="3" SelectionMode="Multiple" VerticalAlignment="Center" ItemsSource="{Binding Answers}"> <ListBox.Resources> <local:LogicToText x:Key="logToText" /> </ListBox.Resources> <!-- bind IsSelected only in one way from code to content --> <ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <ListBoxItem IsSelected="{Binding IsSelected, Mode=TwoWay, Converter={StaticResource logToText}}" Content="{Binding IsSelected, Mode=TwoWay, Converter={StaticResource logToText}}"> </ListBoxItem> </DataTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> <!-- not working at all <ListBox.Resources> <Style TargetType="ListBoxItem"> <Setter Property="IsSelected" Value="{Binding IsSelected, Mode=TwoWay}"/> <Setter Property="Content" Value="{Binding IsSelected, Mode=TwoWay}"/> </Style> </ListBox.Resources>--> </ListBox> </UserControl> </DataTemplate> </FlipView.ItemTemplate> </FlipView> Code: Answers private ObservableCollection<PrawoJazdyDataAnswer> _answers = new ObservableCollection<PrawoJazdyDataAnswer>(); public ObservableCollection<PrawoJazdyDataAnswer> Answers { get { return this._answers; } } Single item(Answer) public class PrawoJazdyDataAnswer : NPCHelper// PrawoJazdy.Common.BindableBase { public PrawoJazdyDataAnswer(String ans, bool ansb) { this._ans = ans; this._isSelected = ansb; } public override string ToString() { return _isSelected.ToString(); } //Only For debug purposes normally return _ans; private string _ans; public string Ans { get { return this._ans; } //set { this.SetProperty(ref this._ans, value); } } private bool _isSelected; public bool IsSelected { get { return this._isSelected; } set { _isSelected = value; FirePropertyChanged("IsSelected"); //this.SetProperty(ref this._isSelected, value); } } } FirePropertyChanged public class NPCHelper : INotifyPropertyChanged { public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; public void FirePropertyChanged(string prop) { if (PropertyChanged != null) PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs(prop)); } } Converter(which sometimes seems to be needed and others not..., I tried ~10 approaches from different tutorials/examples) public class LogicToText : IValueConverter { /// <summary> /// /// </summary> public object Convert(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, string language) { //if (value == null || (bool)value == false) // return "False"; return value.ToString(); } /// <summary> /// /// </summary> public object ConvertBack(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, string language) { return value.ToString().Contains("True") ? true : false; } Thanks in advance, and sorry for my English(still learning). @edit Thanks for quick reply. For test purposes i created a button and text block: It's in other controls part (above list box, but in FlipView) <Button Click="spr" >Sprawdz</Button> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Answers[0].IsSelected, Mode=TwoWay}" > </TextBlock> Click method private void spr(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { var ans = ((PrawoJazdyDataQuestion)this.flipView.SelectedItem).Answers; foreach (var item in ans) item.IsSelected = item.IsSelected ? false : true; } As I wrote when i'm changing data from code side its change text, but not appearance of ListBoxItem, and if i just select it on ListBox its doesn't change the date i textblock neither in ListBox itself.

  • How to enable 'wget' to download the whole content of HTML with Javascript

    - by neversaint
    I have a site which I want to download using Unix wget. If you look at the source code and content of the file it contain section called SUMMARY. However after issuing a wget command like this: wget -O downdloadedtext.txt http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/IEB/Research/Acembly/av.cgi?db=mouse&c=gene&a=fiche&l=2610008E11Rik The content of the downdloadedtext.txt is incomplete and different with the source code of that site. For example it doesn't contain SUMMARY section. Is there a correct way to obtain the full content correctly? The reason I ask this because I want to automate the download from different values in that HTML.

  • Windows Phone 7: Making ListBox items change dynamically

    - by Chad La Guardia
    I am working on creating a Windows Phone app that will play a series of sound clips selected from a list. I am using the MVVM (Model View View-Model) Design pattern and have designed a model for my data, along with a view model for my page. Here is what the XAML for the ListBox looks like: <ListBox x:Name="MediaListBox" Margin="0,0,-12,0" ItemsSource="{Binding Media}" SelectionChanged="MediaListBox_SelectionChanged" HorizontalContentAlignment="Stretch" VerticalContentAlignment="Stretch"> <ListBox.ItemTemplate > <DataTemplate> <StackPanel Margin="0,0,0,17" Width="432" Orientation="Horizontal"> <Image Source="../Media/Images/play.png" /> <StackPanel > <TextBlock Text="{Binding Title}" TextWrapping="Wrap" Style="{StaticResource PhoneTextExtraLargeStyle}"/> <TextBlock Text="{Binding ShortDescription}" TextWrapping="Wrap" Margin="12,-6,12,0" Visibility="{Binding ShortDescriptionVisibility}" Style="{StaticResource PhoneTextSubtleStyle}"/> <TextBlock Text="{Binding LongDescription}" TextWrapping="Wrap" Visibility="{Binding LongDescriptionVisibility}" /> <StackPanel> <Slider HorizontalContentAlignment="Stretch" VerticalContentAlignment="Stretch" Visibility="{Binding LongDescriptionVisibility}" ValueChanged="Slider_ValueChanged" LargeChange="0.25" SmallChange="0.05" /> </StackPanel> </StackPanel> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox> My question is this: I want to be able to expand and collapse part of the items in the ListBox. As you can see, I have a binding for the visibility. That binding is coming from the MediaModel. However, when I change this property in the ObservableCollection, the page is not updated to reflect this. The ViewModel for this page looks like this: public class ListenPageViewModel : INotifyPropertyChanged { public ListenPageViewModel() { this.Media = new ObservableCollection<MediaModel>; } /// <summary> /// A collection for MediaModel objects. /// </summary> public ObservableCollection<MediaModel> Media { get; private set; } public bool IsDataLoaded { get; private set; } /// <summary> /// Creates and adds the media to their respective collections. /// </summary> public void LoadData() { this.Media.Clear(); this.Media.Add(new MediaModel() { Title = "Media 1", ShortDescription = "Short here.", LongDescription = "Long here.", MediaSource = "/Media/test.mp3", LongDescriptionVisibility = Visibility.Collapsed, ShortDescriptionVisibility = Visibility.Visible }); this.Media.Add(new MediaModel() { Title = "Media 2", ShortDescription = "Short here.", LongDescription = "Long here.", MediaSource = "/Media/test2.mp3", LongDescriptionVisibility = Visibility.Collapsed, ShortDescriptionVisibility = Visibility.Visible }); this.IsDataLoaded = true; } public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; private void NotifyPropertyChanged(String propertyName) { PropertyChangedEventHandler handler = PropertyChanged; if (null != handler) { handler(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs(propertyName)); } } } The bindings work correctly and I am seeing the data displayed; however, when I change the properties, the list does not update. I believe that this may be because when I change things inside the observable collection, the property changed event is not firing. What can I do to remedy this? I have poked around for some info on this, but many of the tutorials don't cover this kind of behavior. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Edit: As requested, I have added the MediaModel code: public class MediaModel : INotifyPropertyChanged { public string Title { get; set; } public string ShortDescription { get; set; } public string LongDescription { get; set; } public string MediaSource { get; set; } public Visibility LongDescriptionVisibility { get; set; } public Visibility ShortDescriptionVisibility { get; set; } public MediaModel() { } public MediaModel(string Title, string ShortDescription, string LongDescription, string MediaSource, Visibility LongDescriptionVisibility, Visibility ShortDescriptionVisibility) { this.Title = Title; this.ShortDescription = ShortDescription; this.LongDescription = LongDescription; this.MediaSource = MediaSource; this.LongDescriptionVisibility = LongDescriptionVisibility; this.ShortDescriptionVisibility = ShortDescriptionVisibility; } public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged; private void NotifyPropertyChanged(String propertyName) { PropertyChangedEventHandler handler = PropertyChanged; if (null != handler) { handler(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs(propertyName)); } } } Originally, I did not have this class implement the INotifyPropertyChanged. I did this to see if it would solve the problem. I was hoping this could just be a data object.

  • How decide whether a e-mail was newly sent, replied or forwarded?

    - by user572783
    I use Visual Studio 2010 to create an Outlook 2007 Addin. Now i want to know whether a e-mail was newly sent, replied or forwarded. • Is there any way to get Visual Studio 2008 to update .net style comments automatically?

    - by Jon Cage
    I've been writing a lot of VC++ 2008 / CLI software recently and am using the C#/CLI style documentation: /// <summary> /// Function the does stuff /// </summary> /// <param name="someParam">Specifies some option</param> /// <returns>true if it worked</returns> bool DoStuff( bool someParam ); I find myself re-typing those blocks quite frequently and frankly, it's getting repetitive. Is there any way to get Visual Studio to create / update those blocks automatically as you create new function definitions or update existing definitions?

  • How to prevent the symbol "&" from being replaced by "&amp;

    - by tonsils
    Hi, Hoping someone could pls let me know how to prevent the symbol "&" from being replaced by "&amp;" within my URL, specifically within javascript? Just to expand on requirement, I am getting my url from an oracle database table, which I then use within Oracle Application Express, to set the src attribute of an iframe to this url. FYI, the url stored in the Oracle table is actually stored correctly, i.e. http://mydomain.com/xml/getInfo?s=pvalue1&f=mydir/Summary.xml what appears in my use when trying to pass over into iframe src using javascript is: http://mydomain.com/xml/getInfo?s=pvalue1&amp;f=mydir/Summary.xml which basically returns a page cannot be found Hope this clarified further my issue. Thanks.

  • What does the R function `poly` really do?

    - by merlin2011
    I have read through the manual page ?poly (which I admit I did not completely comphrehend) and also read the description of the function in book Introduction to Statistical Learning. My current understanding is that a call to poly(horsepower, 2) should be equivalent to writing horsepower + I(horsepower^2). However, this seems to be contradicted by the output of the following code. library(ISLR) summary(lm(mpg~poly(horsepower,2), data=Auto))$coef summary(lm(mpg~horsepower+I(horsepower^2), data=Auto))$coef Output: Estimate Std. Error t value Pr(>|t|) (Intercept) 23.44592 0.2209163 106.13030 2.752212e-289 poly(horsepower, 2)1 -120.13774 4.3739206 -27.46683 4.169400e-93 poly(horsepower, 2)2 44.08953 4.3739206 10.08009 2.196340e-21 Estimate Std. • Pass database data to multiples views-Laravel

    - by user3696018
    I have a database with details of daily sales. To query a database, I have a form in a view with parameters that will query as date of admission, client and others. The result is shown in another view with the daily details of income, and below is a summary of the article do all entered. The summary I wish to transfer to another view, try to view :: composer but only transfer the empty query (I saw it with debug bar). Just appeared an empty view. How I can transfer data from the database without the latter view is empty? The second html view is totaly diferent , only the data is the same.

  • Finding a Relative Path in .NET

    - by Rick Strahl
    Here’s a nice and simple path utility that I’ve needed in a number of applications: I need to find a relative path based on a base path. So if I’m working in a folder called c:\temp\templates\ and I want to find a relative path for c:\temp\templates\subdir\test.txt I want to receive back subdir\test.txt. Or if I pass c:\ I want to get back ..\..\ – in other words always return a non-hardcoded path based on some other known directory. I’ve had a routine in my library that does this via some lengthy string parsing routines, but ran into some Uri processing today that made me realize that this code could be greatly simplified by using the System.Uri class instead. Here’s the simple static method: /// <summary> /// Returns a relative path string from a full path based on a base path /// provided. /// </summary> /// <param name="fullPath">The path to convert. Can be either a file or a directory</param> /// <param name="basePath">The base path on which relative processing is based. Should be a directory.</param> /// <returns> /// String of the relative path. /// /// Examples of returned values: /// test.txt, ..\test.txt, ..\..\..\test.txt, ., .., subdir\test.txt /// </returns> public static string GetRelativePath(string fullPath, string basePath ) { // ForceBasePath to a path if (!basePath.EndsWith("\\")) basePath += "\\"; Uri baseUri = new Uri(basePath); Uri fullUri = new Uri(fullPath); Uri relativeUri = baseUri.MakeRelativeUri(fullUri); // Uri's use forward slashes so convert back to backward slashes return relativeUri.ToString().Replace("/", "\\"); } You can then call it like this: string relPath = FileUtils.GetRelativePath("c:\temp\templates","c:\temp\templates\subdir\test.txt") It’s not exactly rocket science but it’s useful in many scenarios where you’re working with files based on an application base directory. Right now I’m working on a templating solution (using the Razor Engine) where templates live in a base directory and are supplied as relative paths to that base directory. Resolving these relative paths both ways is important in order to properly check for existance of files and their change status in this case. Not the kind of thing you use every day, but useful to remember.© Rick Strahl, West Wind Technologies, 2005-2010Posted in .NET  CSharp

  • Validation in Silverlight

    - by Timmy Kokke
    Getting started with the basics Validation in Silverlight can get very complex pretty easy. The DataGrid control is the only control that does data validation automatically, but often you want to validate your own entry form. Values a user may enter in this form can be restricted by the customer and have to fit an exact fit to a list of requirements or you just want to prevent problems when saving the data to the database. Showing a message to the user when a value is entered is pretty straight forward as I’ll show you in the following example.     This (default) Silverlight textbox is data-bound to a simple data class. It has to be bound in “Two-way” mode to be sure the source value is updated when the target value changes. The INotifyPropertyChanged interface must be implemented by the data class to get the notification system to work. When the property changes a simple check is performed and when it doesn’t match some criteria an ValidationException is thrown. The ValidatesOnExceptions binding attribute is set to True to tell the textbox it should handle the thrown ValidationException. Let’s have a look at some code now. The xaml should contain something like below. The most important part is inside the binding. In this case the Text property is bound to the “Name” property in TwoWay mode. It is also told to validate on exceptions. This property is false by default.   <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <TextBox Width="150" x:Name="Name" Text="{Binding Path=Name, Mode=TwoWay, ValidatesOnExceptions=True}"/> <TextBlock Text="Name"/> </StackPanel>   The data class in this first example is a very simplified person class with only one property: string Name. The INotifyPropertyChanged interface is implemented and the PropertyChanged event is fired when the Name property changes. When the property changes a check is performed to see if the new string is null or empty. If this is the case a ValidationException is thrown explaining that the entered value is invalid.   public class PersonData:INotifyPropertyChanged { private string _name; public string Name { get { return _name; } set { if (_name != value) { if(string.IsNullOrEmpty(value)) throw new ValidationException("Name is required"); _name = value; if (PropertyChanged != null) PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("Name")); } } } public event PropertyChangedEventHandler PropertyChanged=delegate { }; } The last thing that has to be done is letting binding an instance of the PersonData class to the DataContext of the control. This is done in the code behind file. public partial class Demo1 : UserControl { public Demo1() { InitializeComponent(); this.DataContext = new PersonData() {Name = "Johnny Walker"}; } }   Error Summary In many cases you would have more than one entry control. A summary of errors would be nice in such case. With a few changes to the xaml an error summary, like below, can be added.           First, add a namespace to the xaml so the control can be used. Add the following line to the header of the .xaml file. xmlns:Controls="clr-namespace:System.Windows.Controls;assembly=System.Windows.Controls.Data.Input"   Next, add the control to the layout. To get the result as in the image showed earlier, add the control right above the StackPanel from the first example. It’s got a small margin to separate it from the textbox a little.   <Controls:ValidationSummary Margin="8"/>   The ValidationSummary control has to be notified that an ValidationException occurred. This can be done with a small change to the xaml too. Add the NotifyOnValidationError to the binding expression. By default this value is set to false, so nothing would be notified. Set the property to true to get it to work.   <TextBox Width="150" x:Name="Name" Text="{Binding Name, Mode=TwoWay, ValidatesOnExceptions=True, NotifyOnValidationError=True}"/>   Data annotation Validating data in the setter is one option, but not my personal favorite. It’s the easiest way if you have a single required value you want to check, but often you want to validate more. Besides, I don’t consider it best practice to write logic in setters. The way used by frameworks like WCF Ria Services is the use of attributes on the properties. Instead of throwing exceptions you have to call the static method ValidateProperty on the Validator class. This call stays always the same for a particular property, not even when you change the attributes on the property. To mark a property “Required” you can use the RequiredAttribute. This is what the Name property is going to look like:   [Required] public string Name { get { return _name; } set { if (_name != value) { Validator.ValidateProperty(value, new ValidationContext(this, null, null){ MemberName = "Name" }); _name = value; if (PropertyChanged != null) PropertyChanged(this, new PropertyChangedEventArgs("Name")); } } }   The ValidateProperty method takes the new value for the property and an instance of ValidationContext. The properties passed to the constructor of the ValidationContextclass are very straight forward. This part is the same every time. The only thing that changes is the MemberName property of the ValidationContext. Property has to hold the name of the property you want to validate. It’s the same value you provide the PropertyChangedEventArgs with. The System.ComponentModel.DataAnnotation contains eight different validation attributes including a base class to create your own. They are: RequiredAttribute Specifies that a value must be provided. RangeAttribute The provide value must fall in the specified range. RegularExpressionAttribute Validates is the value matches the regular expression. StringLengthAttribute Checks if the number of characters in a string falls between a minimum and maximum amount. CustomValidationAttribute Use a custom method to validate the value. DataTypeAttribute Specify a data type using an enum or a custom data type. EnumDataTypeAttribute Makes sure the value is found in a enum. ValidationAttribute A base class for custom validation attributes All of these will ensure that an validation exception is thrown, except the DataTypeAttribute. This attribute is used to provide some additional information about the property. You can use this information in your own code.   [Required] [Range(0,125,ErrorMessage = "Value is not a valid age")] public int Age {   It’s no problem to stack different validation attributes together. For example, when an Age is required and must fall in the range from 0 to 125:   [Required, StringLength(255,MinimumLength = 3)] public string Name {   Or in one row like this, for a required Name with at least 3 characters and a maximum of 255:   Delayed validation Having properties marked as required can be very useful. The only downside to the technique described earlier is that you have to change the value in order to get it validated. What if you start out with empty an empty entry form? All fields are empty and thus won’t be validated. With this small trick you can validate at the moment the user click the submit button.   <TextBox Width="150" x:Name="NameField" Text="{Binding Name, Mode=TwoWay, ValidatesOnExceptions=True, NotifyOnValidationError=True, UpdateSourceTrigger=Explicit}"/>   By default, when a TwoWay bound control looses focus the value is updated. When you added validation like I’ve shown you earlier, the value is validated. To overcome this, you have to tell the binding update explicitly by setting the UpdateSourceTrigger binding property to Explicit:   private void SubmitButtonClick(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { NameField.GetBindingExpression(TextBox.TextProperty).UpdateSource(); }   This way, the binding is in two direction but the source is only updated, thus validated, when you tell it to. In the code behind you have to call the UpdateSource method on the binding expression, which you can get from the TextBox.   Conclusion Data validation is something you’ll probably want on almost every entry form. I always thought it was hard to do, but it wasn’t. If you can throw an exception you can do validation. If you want to know anything more in depth about something I talked about in this article let me know. I might write an entire post to that.

  • Example WLST Script to Obtain JDBC and JTA MBean Values

    - by Daniel Mortimer
    Introduction Following on from the blog entry "Get an Offline or Online WebLogic Domain Summary Using WLST!", I have had a request to create a smaller example which only collects a selection of JDBC (System Resource) and JTA configuration and runtime MBeans values. So, here it is. Download Sample Script You can grab the sample script by clicking here. Instructions to Run: 1. After download, extract the zip to the machine hosting the WebLogic environment. You should have three directories along with a readme.txt output Sample_Output scripts 2. In the scripts directory, find the start wrapper script startWLSTJDBCSummarizer.sh (Unix) or startWLSTJDBCSummarizer.cmd (MS Windows). Open the appropriate file in an editor and change the environment variable settings to suit your system. Example - startWLSTDomainSummarizer.cmd set WL_HOME=D:\product\FMW11g\wlserver_10.3 set DOMAIN_HOME=D:\product\FMW11g\user_projects\domains\MyDomain set WLST_OUTPUT_PATH=D:\WLSTDomainSummarizer\output\ set WLST_OUTPUT_FILE=WLST_JDBC_Summary_Via_MBeans.html call "%WL_HOME%\common\bin\wlst.cmd" WLS_JDBC_Summary_Online.py Note: The WLST_OUTPUT_PATH directory value must have a trailing slash. If there is no trailing slash, the script will error and not continue.  3. Run the shell / command line wrapper script. It should launch WLST and kick off "WLS_JDBC_Summary_Online.py". This will hit you with some prompts e.g. Is your domain Admin Server up and running and do you have the connection details? (Y /N ): Y Enter connection URL to Admin Server e.g t3://mymachine.acme.com:7001 : t3://localhost:7001 Enter weblogic username: weblogic Enter weblogic username password (function prompt 1): welcome1 (Note: the value typed in for password will not be echoed back to the console). 4. If the scripts run successfully, you should get a HTML summary in the specified output directory. See example screenshots below: Screenshot 1 - JDBC System Resource Tab Page  Screenshot 2 - JTA Tab Page 5. For the HTML to render correctly, ensure the .js and .css files provided (review the output directory created by the zip file extraction) are accessible. For example, to view the HTML locally (without using a web server), place the HTML output, jquery-ui.js, spry.js and wlstsummarizer.css in the same directory. Disclaimer This is a sample script. I have tested it against WebLogic Server 10.3.6 domains on MS Windows and Unix.  I cannot guarantee that the script will run error free or produce the expected output on your system. If you have any feedback add a comment to the blog. I will endeavour to fix any problems with my WLST code. • Packing a DBF

    - by Tom Hines
    I thought my days of dealing with DBFs as a "production data" source were over, but HA (no such luck). I recently had to retrieve, modify and replace some data that needed to be delivered in a DBF file. Everything was fine until I realized / remembered the DBF driver does not ACTUALLY delete records from the data source -- it only marks them for deletion.  You are responsible for handling the "chaff" either by using a utility to remove deleted records or by simply ignoring them.  If imported into Excel, the marked-deleted records are ignored, but the file size will reflect the extra content. So, I went hunting for a method to "Pack" the records (removing deleted ones and resizing the DBF file) and eventually ran across the FOXPRO driver at ( http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/vfoxpro/bb190233.aspx ).  Once installed, I changed the DSN in the code to the new one I created in the ODBC Administrator and ran some tests.  Using MSQuery, I simply tested the raw SQL command Pack {tablename} and it WORKED! One really neat thing is the PACK command is used like regular SQL instructions; "Pack {tablename}" is all that is needed. It is necessary, however, to close all connections to the database before issuing the PACK command.    Here is some C# code for a Pack method.         /// <summary>       /// Pack the DBF removing all deleted records       /// </summary>       /// <param name="strTableName">The table to pack</param>       /// <param name="strError">output of any errors</param>       /// <returns>bool (true if no errors)</returns>       public static bool Pack(string strTableName, ref string strError)       {          bool blnRetVal = true;          try          {             OdbcConnectionStringBuilder csbOdbc = new OdbcConnectionStringBuilder()             {                Dsn = "PSAP_FOX_DBF"             };             string strSQL = "pack " + strTableName;             using (OdbcConnection connOdbc = new OdbcConnection(csbOdbc.ToString()))             {                connOdbc.Open();                OdbcCommand cmdOdbc = new OdbcCommand(strSQL, connOdbc);                cmdOdbc.ExecuteNonQuery();                connOdbc.Close();             }          }          catch (Exception exc)          {             blnRetVal = false;             strError = exc.Message;          }          return blnRetVal;       }

    It's time for the fifth T-SQL Tuesday , managed this time by Aaron Nelson of SQLVariations . Once again, the deadline came up just too quickly, and I'm on the road this week, so my entry will not be too long. Aaron's topic is reporting and in keeping with my past posts, this contribution will include a history lesson. Since I first learned SQL, I've always thought of aggregation as a way of producing simple reports. Summary information was frequently all that was needed on an ongoing basis to see...(read more)

  • Earthquake Locator - Live Demo and Source Code

    - by Bobby Diaz
    Quick Links Live Demo Source Code I finally got a live demo up and running!  I signed up for a shared hosting account over at discountasp.net so I could post a working version of the Earthquake Locator application, but ran into a few minor issues related to RIA Services.  Thankfully, Tim Heuer had already encountered and explained all of the problems I had along with solutions to these and other common pitfalls.  You can find his blog post here.  The ones that got me were the default authentication tag being set to Windows instead of Forms, needed to add the <baseAddressPrefixFilters> tag since I was running on a shared server using host headers, and finally the Multiple Authentication Schemes settings in the IIS7 Manager.   To get the demo application ready, I pulled down local copies of the earthquake data feeds that the application can use instead of pulling from the USGS web site.  I basically added the feed URL as an app setting in the web.config:       <appSettings>         <!-- USGS Data Feeds: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/catalogs/ -->         <!--<add key="FeedUrl"             value="http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/catalogs/1day-M2.5.xml" />-->         <!--<add key="FeedUrl"             value="http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/catalogs/7day-M2.5.xml" />-->         <!--<add key="FeedUrl"             value="~/Demo/1day-M2.5.xml" />-->         <add key="FeedUrl"              value="~/Demo/7day-M2.5.xml" />     </appSettings> You will need to do the same if you want to run from local copies of the feed data.  I also made the following minor changes to the EarthquakeService class so that it gets the FeedUrl from the web.config:       private static readonly string FeedUrl = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["FeedUrl"];       /// <summary>     /// Gets the feed at the specified URL.     /// </summary>     /// <param name="url">The URL.</param>     /// <returns>A <see cref="SyndicationFeed"/> object.</returns>     public static SyndicationFeed GetFeed(String url)     {         SyndicationFeed feed = null;           if ( !String.IsNullOrEmpty(url) && url.StartsWith("~") )         {             // resolve virtual path to physical file system             url = System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Server.MapPath(url);         }           try         {             log.Debug("Loading RSS feed: " + url);               using ( var reader = XmlReader.Create(url) )             {                 feed = SyndicationFeed.Load(reader);             }         }         catch ( Exception ex )         {             log.Error("Error occurred while loading RSS feed: " + url, ex);         }           return feed;     } You can now view the live demo or download the source code here, but be sure you have WCF RIA Services installed before running the application locally and make sure the FeedUrl is pointing to a valid location.  Please let me know if you have any comments or if you run into any issues with the code.   Enjoy!

  • Show "results - of" of internal search in Google search result

    - by Petra Barus
    I was doing some searches on Google Search and I stumbled on this As you can see in the screenshot above, the search results show a summary of an internal search page (the one I highlighted by red underline) on the website (homes.com and findaproperty.com). I would like to show up this kind of result in the Google search for my website internal search. How do I do it? Do I have to put some metatag or something?

  • F# in 90 Seconds

    - by Ben Griswold
    I mentioned in a previous post that we’ve started a languages club at the office.  In an effort to decide which language we will first concentrate on, I volunteered to give the rundown on F#.  Rather than providing a summary here, I’ve provided my slide deck for your viewing enjoyment.  There’s nothing special here outside of a some pretty cool characters from The 56 Geeks Project by Scott Johnson and collection of information from my prior functional programming presentations.   Download F# in 90 Seconds

  • SQL Server 2012 : Changes to system objects in RC0

    - by AaronBertrand
    As with every new major milestone, one of the first things I do is check out what has changed under the covers. Since RC0 was released yesterday, I've been poking around at some of the DMV and other system changes. Here is what I have noticed: New objects in RC0 that weren't in CTP3 Quick summary: We see a bunch of new aggregates for use with geography and geometry. I've stayed away from that area of programming so I'm not going to dig into them. There is a new extended procedure called sp_showmemo_xml....(read more)

  • Converting a generic list into JSON string and then handling it in java script

    - by Jalpesh P. Vadgama
    We all know that JSON (JavaScript Object Notification) is very useful in case of manipulating string on client side with java script and its performance is very good over browsers so let’s create a simple example where convert a Generic List then we will convert this list into JSON string and then we will call this web service from java script and will handle in java script. To do this we need a info class(Type) and for that class we are going to create generic list. Here is code for that I have created simple class with two properties UserId and UserName public class UserInfo { public int UserId { get; set; } public string UserName { get; set; } } Now Let’s create a web service and web method will create a class and then we will convert this with in JSON string with JavaScriptSerializer class. Here is web service class. using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.Web.Services; namespace Experiment.WebService { /// <summary> /// Summary description for WsApplicationUser /// </summary> [WebService(Namespace = "http://tempuri.org/")] [WebServiceBinding(ConformsTo = WsiProfiles.BasicProfile1_1)] [System.ComponentModel.ToolboxItem(false)] // To allow this Web Service to be called from script, using ASP.NET AJAX, uncomment the following line. [System.Web.Script.Services.ScriptService] public class WsApplicationUser : System.Web.Services.WebService { [WebMethod] public string GetUserList() { List<UserInfo> userList = new List<UserInfo>(); for (int i = 1; i <= 5; i++) { UserInfo userInfo = new UserInfo(); userInfo.UserId = i; userInfo.UserName = string.Format("{0}{1}", "J", i.ToString()); userList.Add(userInfo); } System.Web.Script.Serialization.JavaScriptSerializer jSearializer = new System.Web.Script.Serialization.JavaScriptSerializer(); return jSearializer.Serialize(userList); } } } Note: Here you must have this attribute here in web service class ‘[System.Web.Script.Services.ScriptService]’ as this attribute will enable web service to call from client side. Now we have created a web service class let’s create a java script function ‘GetUserList’ which will call web service from JavaScript like following function GetUserList() { Experiment.WebService.WsApplicationUser.GetUserList(ReuqestCompleteCallback, RequestFailedCallback); } After as you can see we have inserted two call back function ReuqestCompleteCallback and RequestFailedCallback which handle errors and result from web service. ReuqestCompleteCallback will handle result of web service and if and error comes then RequestFailedCallback will print the error. Following is code for both function. function ReuqestCompleteCallback(result) { result = eval(result); var divResult = document.getElementById("divUserList"); CreateUserListTable(result); } function RequestFailedCallback(error) { var stackTrace = error.get_stackTrace(); var message = error.get_message(); var statusCode = error.get_statusCode(); var exceptionType = error.get_exceptionType(); var timedout = error.get_timedOut(); // Display the error. var divResult = document.getElementById("divUserList"); divResult.innerHTML = "Stack Trace: " + stackTrace + "<br/>" + "Service Error: " + message + "<br/>" + "Status Code: " + statusCode + "<br/>" + "Exception Type: " + exceptionType + "<br/>" + "Timedout: " + timedout; } Here in above there is a function called you can see that we have use ‘eval’ function which parse string in enumerable form. Then we are calling a function call ‘CreateUserListTable’ which will create a table string and paste string in the a div. Here is code for that function. function CreateUserListTable(userList) { var tablestring = '<table ><tr><td>UsreID</td><td>UserName</td></tr>'; for (var i = 0, len = userList.length; i < len; ++i) { tablestring=tablestring + "<tr>"; tablestring=tablestring + "<td>" + userList[i].UserId + "</td>"; tablestring=tablestring + "<td>" + userList[i].UserName + "</td>"; tablestring=tablestring + "</tr>"; } tablestring = tablestring + "</table>"; var divResult = document.getElementById("divUserList"); divResult.innerHTML = tablestring; } Now let’s create div which will have all html that is generated from this function. Here is code of my web page. We also need to add a script reference to enable web service from client side. Here is all HTML code we have. <form id="form1" runat="server"> <asp:ScriptManager ID="myScirptManger" runat="Server"> <Services> <asp:ServiceReference Path="~/WebService/WsApplicationUser.asmx" /> </Services> </asp:ScriptManager> <div id="divUserList"> </div> </form> Now as we have not defined where we are going to call ‘GetUserList’ function so let’s call this function on windows onload event of javascript like following. window.onload=GetUserList(); That’s it. Now let’s run it on browser to see whether it’s work or not and here is the output in browser as expected. That’s it. This was very basic example but you can crate your own JavaScript enabled grid from this and you can see possibilities are unlimited here. Stay tuned for more.. Happy programming..
