  • Help with IE bugs when writing JSON via an ASPX response

    - by Jereme
    I have an ASPX page that I am using to write JSON. It works great in Firefox and Chrome, but when I try and use it in IE 8 it gives me an "The XML page cannot be displayed" error instead of allowing jQuery to load the JSON being written by the response. Any ideas? Here is what my code looks like: protected override void OnLoad(EventArgs e) { Response.Clear(); Response.ClearHeaders(); Response.ContentType = "application/json"; Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache); Response.Write(string.Format("[ {{ \"Foo\": \"{0}\", \"bar\": \"{1}\" }} ]", "Foo Content", "Bar Content")); Response.End(); }

  • Writing an Eval Procedure in Scheme?

    - by Planeman
    My problem isn't with the built-in eval procedure but how to create a simplistic version of it. Just for starters I would like to be able to take this in '(+ 1 2) and have it evaluate the expression + where the quote usually takes off the evaluation. I have been thinking about this and found a couple things that might be useful: Unquote: , (quasiquote) (apply) My main problem is regaining the value of + as a procedure and not a symbol. Once I get that I think I should just be able to use it with the other contents of the list. Any tips or guidance would be much appreciated.

  • javan-whenever not writing crontab with Capistrano deploy

    - by Gordon Isnor
    I’ve been trying to get whenever running on an ec2 instance that was created with ec2 on rails. When I deploy with Capistrano it indicates that the crontab was written, but when I log into the server and run crontab -l it does not seem to have been changed. If I go into the release folder and manually run whenever --write-crontab then run crontab -l - it gets updated properly. Any ideas what could be causing this? Capistrano is not indicating any errors so not sure how to debug, have tried a billion permutations and combinations and nothing changes.

  • Guide on writing my first open source software ?

    - by Kim Jong Woo
    Hello Stackoverflow, Since last August 2009, I have been working on project but then decided to release it as an open source project. The purpose of this project is to provide an alternative to existing commercial & expensive solution. So my question is, how can I get started ? The prototype has been ready since May and now being rewritten in Java. Which license type do I need to pursue ? LGPL? MIT? Thank you, John.

  • Writing Resources from filesystem in Android

    - by Markus
    Hi, as I need to get a specific Frame from a Website I want to display in an WebView, I decided to grab the .html from the net and save it under file:///data/data//files/file.html. Stroed there I can edit it using regex or String methods. Now two questions: Is there a way to bind this file to an resource. e.g. to /res/raw/file.html and get it updated dynamically as i edit it? Or can i write the File directly to the resources? Is this whole stuff I do there any good or performant at all? I mean maybe there is a better way to get the .html code between two tags from a Webpage and display it via WebView. Kind regards Markus

  • Android Java writing text file to sd card

    - by Paul
    I have a strange problem I've come across. My app can write a simple textfile to SD card and sometimes it works for some people but not for others and I have no idea why. Some people it force closes if they put some characters like "..." in it and such. I cannot seem to reproduce it as I've had no troubles but this is the code that handles it. Can anyone think of something that may lead to problems or a better to way to do it? public void generateNoteOnSD(String sFileName, String sBody){ try { File root = new File(Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory(), "Notes"); if (!root.exists()) { root.mkdirs(); } File gpxfile = new File(root, sFileName); FileWriter writer = new FileWriter(gpxfile); writer.append(sBody); writer.flush(); writer.close(); Toast.makeText(this, "Saved", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } catch(IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); importError = e.getMessage(); iError(); } }

  • PHP unlink OR rewrite own/current file by itself

    - by Email
    Hi Task: Cut or erase a file after first walk-through. i have an install file called "index.php" which creates another php file. <? /* here some code*/ $fh = fopen($myFile, 'w') or die("can't open file"); $stringData = "<?php \n echo 'hallo, *very very long text*'; \n ?>"; fwrite($fh, $stringData); /*herecut"/ /*here some code */ after the creation of the new file this file is called and i intent to erase the filecreation call since it is very long and only needed on first install. i therefor add to the above code echo 'hallo, *very very long text*'; \n ***$new= file_get_contents('index.php'); \n $findme = 'habanot'; $pos = strpos($new, $findme); if ($pos === false) { $marker='herecut';\n $new=strstr($new,$marker);\n $new='<?php \n /*habanot*/\n'.$new;\n $fh = fopen('index.php', 'w') or die 'cant open file'); $stringData = $new; fwrite($fh, $stringData); fclose($fh);*** ?>"; fwrite($fh, $stringData);]} Isnt there an easier way or a function to modify the current file or even "self destroy" a file after first call? Regards

  • Writing a filter for incoming connections

    - by Kornel Kisielewicz
    I'm using C++/boost::asio under Win7. I'm trying to "sniff" trafic over a given TCP/IP port. Hence, I'd like to listen on that port, receive messages, analyze them, but also immidately allow them to flow further, as if I never intercepted them. I want them to sink into the program that normally listens and connects on that port. Imagine a transparent proxy, but not for HTTP. I'd rather find a code-based solution, but barring that, maybe you would suggest a tool?

  • Am I writing this right? [noob]

    - by Aaron
    private final int NUM_SOUND_FILES = 4; private Random rnd = new Random(4); private int mfile[] = new mfile[NUM_SOUND_FILES]; //the second mfile //reports error everytime mfile[0] = R.raw.sound1; mfile[1] = R.raw.sound2; mfile[2] = R.raw.sound3; mfile[3] = R.raw.sound4; int sndToPlay = rnd.nextInt(NUM_SOUND_FILES); I keep getting syntax errors no matter how I write it. And when I get the syntax right, it forcecloses. Here's with the alleged "correct" syntax but forcecloses: private final int NUM_SOUND_FILES = 4; private Random rnd = new Random(4); private int mfile[] = new int[NUM_SOUND_FILES];{ mfile[0] = R.raw.sound1; mfile[1] = R.raw.sound2; mfile[2] = R.raw.sound3; mfile[3] = R.raw.sound4;}

    Hello, I'm going to develop gui-based application for tor controlling (like vidalia or torK). Are there any libraries for using tor? I don't want to parse each byte of information from sockets. My program should display branches of computers, use chosen as traffic-provider etc. What I need in my case? Are there any small and simple samples (for example open-source projects) to do this.

  • Writing functions of tuples conveniently in Scala

    - by Alexey Romanov
    Quite a few functions on Map take a function on a key-value tuple as the argument. E.g. def foreach(f: ((A, B)) ? Unit): Unit. So I looked for a short way to write an argument to foreach: > val map = Map(1 -> 2, 3 -> 4) map: scala.collection.immutable.Map[Int,Int] = Map(1 -> 2, 3 -> 4) > map.foreach((k, v) => println(k)) error: wrong number of parameters; expected = 1 map.foreach((k, v) => println(k)) ^ > map.foreach({(k, v) => println(k)}) error: wrong number of parameters; expected = 1 map.foreach({(k, v) => println(k)}) ^ > map.foreach(case (k, v) => println(k)) error: illegal start of simple expression map.foreach(case (k, v) => println(k)) ^ I can do > map.foreach(_ match {case (k, v) => println(k)}) 1 3 Any better alternatives?

  • Writing C# GUI over a C++ dll or C++ exe

    - by user97642
    Hi I have a C++ console Exe which does some progamming. Now i wanted to write a C# GUI which does some of the programming that the C++ exe does. I was thinking of few approaches, Write the C# GUI with all programming in C++ done from scratch.(I do not want to do this for the amount of rework it entails) Build a C++ dll which does the programming and have it imported in GUI app.(Now here i have a concern. How do i capture the output of the routines in c++ dll and display it in GUI? Should i return the output as string for every routine that the app calls.? Since i dont know managed c++ iam going to build an unmanaged C++ dll. )

  • Javascript: Writing a firefox extension with sockets

    - by Johnny Grass
    I need to write a firefox extension that creates a server socket (I think that's what it's called) and returns the browser's current url when a client application (running on the same computer) sends it a request. The thing is that I have no Java/Javascript background at all and I'm pressed for time so I am trying to hack something together from code samples. So far I've been mildly successful. I've been working with code from this question which is used in the open source Firefox exension PolyChrome I have the following code: var reader = { onInputStreamReady : function(input) { var input_stream = Components.classes["@mozilla.org/scriptableinputstream;1"] .createInstance(Components.interfaces.nsIScriptableInputStream); input_stream.init(input); input_stream.available(); var request = ''; while (input_stream.available()) { request = request + input_stream.read(512); } var checkString = "foo" if (request.toString() == checkString.toString()) { output_console('URL: ' + content.location.href); } else output_console("nothing"); var thread_manager = Components.classes["@mozilla.org/thread-manager;1"].getService(); input.asyncWait(reader,0,0,thread_manager.mainThread); } } var listener = { onSocketAccepted: function(serverSocket, clientSocket) { output_console("Accepted connection on "+clientSocket.host+":"+clientSocket.port); input = clientSocket.openInputStream(0, 0, 0).QueryInterface(Components.interfaces.nsIAsyncInputStream); output = clientSocket.openOutputStream(Components.interfaces.nsITransport.OPEN_BLOCKING, 0, 0); var thread_manager = Components.classes["@mozilla.org/thread-manager;1"].getService(); input.asyncWait(reader,0,0,thread_manager.mainThread); } } var serverSocket = Components.classes["@mozilla.org/network/server-socket;1"]. createInstance(Components.interfaces.nsIServerSocket); serverSocket.init(9999, true, 5); output_console("Opened socket on " + serverSocket.port); serverSocket.asyncListen(listener); I have a few questions. So far I can telnet into localhost and get a response, but my string comparison in the reader seems to fail even if I enter "foo". I don't get why. What am I missing? The sample code I'm using opens up a console window and prints output when I telnet into localhost. Ideally I would like the output to be returned as a response when the client sends a request to the server socket with a passphrase. How do I go about doing that? Is doing this a good idea? Does it create security vulnerabilities on the computer? How can I block connections to the socket from other computers? What is a good place to read about javascript sockets? My google searches have been pretty fruitless but then maybe I'm not using the right keywords.

  • Powershell: Writing errors and ouput to a text file and Console

    - by smaclell
    I am trying to write the entire output (errors included) of an executing script to the console and a file at the same time. I have tried several different options .\MyScript.ps1 | tee -filePath C:\results.txt # only the output to the file .\MyScript.ps1 2> C:\results.txt # only the errors to the file and not the console .\MyScript.ps1 > C:\results.txt # only the output to the file and not the console My hope was that I could use the file to review the output/errors Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Linked lists in Java - Help with writing methods

    - by user368241
    Representation of a string in linked lists In every intersection in the list there will be 3 fields : The letter itself. The number of times it appears consecutively. A pointer to the next intersection in the list. The following class CharNode represents a intersection in the list : public class CharNode { private char _data; private int _value; private charNode _next; public CharNode (char c, int val, charNode n) { _data = c; _value = val; _next = n; } public charNode getNext() { return _next; } public void setNext (charNode node) { _next = node; } public int getValue() { return _value; } public void setValue (int v) { value = v; } public char getData() { return _data; } public void setData (char c) { _data = c; } } The class StringList represents the whole list : public class StringList { private charNode _head; public StringList() { _head = null; } public StringList (CharNode node) { _head = node; } } Add methods to the class StringList according to the details : (I will add methods gradually according to my specific questions) (Pay attention, these are methods from the class String and we want to fulfill them by the representation of a string by a list as explained above) Pay attention to all the possible error cases. Write what is the time complexity and space complexity of every method that you wrote. Make sure the methods you wrote are effective. It is NOT allowed to use ready classes of Java. It is NOT allowed to move to string and use string operations. 1) public int indexOf (int ch) - returns the index in the string it is operated on of the first appeareance of the char "ch". If the char "ch" doesn't appear in the string, returns -1. If the value of fromIndex isn't in the range, returns -1. Here is my try : public int indexOf (int ch) { int count = 0; charNode pos = _head; if (pos == null ) { return -1; } for (pos = _head; pos!=null && pos.getData()!=ch; pos = pos.getNext()) { count = count + pos.getValue(); } if (pos==null) return -1; return count; } Time complexity = O(N) Space complexity = O(1) EDIT : I have a problem. I tested it in BlueJ and if the char ch doesn't appear it returns -1 but if it does, it always returns 0 and I don't understand why... I am confused. How can the compiler know that the value is the number of times the letter appears consecutively? Can I assume this because its given on the question or what? If it's true and I can assume this, then my code should be correct right? Ok I just spoke with my instructor and she said it isn't required to write it in the exercise but in order for me to test that it indeed works, I need to open a new class and write a code for making a list so that the the value of every node is the number of times the letter appears consecutively. Can someone please assist me? So I will copy+paste to BlueJ and this way I will be able to test all the methods. Meanwhile I am moving on to the next methods. 2) public int indexOf (int ch, int fromIndex) - returns the index in the string it is operated on of the first appeareance of the char "ch", as the search begins in the index "fromIndex". If the char "ch" doesn't appear in the string, returns -1. If the value of fromIndex doesn't appear in the range, returns -1. Here is my try: public int indexOf (int ch, int fromIndex) { int count = 0, len=0, i; charNode pos = _head; CharNode cur = _head; for (pos = _head; pos!=null; pos = pos.getNext()) { len = len+1; } if (fromIndex<0 || fromIndex>=len) return -1; for (i=0; i<fromIndex; i++) { cur = cur.getNext(); } if (cur == null ) { return -1; } for (cur = _head; cur!=null && cur.getData()!=ch; cur = cur.getNext()) { count = count + cur.getValue(); } if (cur==null) return -1; return count; } Time complexity = O(N) ? Space complexity = O(1) 3) public StringList concat (String str) - returns a string that consists of the string that it is operated on and in its end the string "str" is concatenated. Here is my try : public StringList concat (String str) { String str = ""; charNode pos = _head; if (str == null) return -1; for (pos = _head; pos!=null; pos = pos.getNext()) { str = str + pos.getData(); } str = str + "str"; return str; } Time complexity = O(N) Space complexity = O(1)

  • What is good practice for writing web applications that control daemons (and their config files)

    - by Jones R
    Can someone suggest some basic advice on dealing with web applications that interact with configuration files like httpd.conf, bind zone files, etc. I understand that it's bad practice, in fact very dangerous to allow arbitrary execution of code without fully validating it and so on. But say you are tasked to write a small app that allows one to add vhosts to an apache configuration. Do you have your code execute with full privileges, do you write future variables into a database and have a cron job (with full privileges) execute a script that pulls the vars from the database and throws them into a template config file, etc. Some thoughts & contributions on this issue would be appreciated. tl;dr - how can you securely write a web app to update/create entries in a config file like apache's httpd.conf, etc.

  • Writing an optimised and efficient search engine with mySQL and ColdFusion

    - by Mel
    I have a search page with the following scenarios listed below. I was told there was a better way to do it, but not how, and that I am using too many if statements, and that it's prone to causing an error through url manipulation: Search.cfm will processes a search made from a search bar present on all pages, with one search input (titleName). If search.cfm is accessed manually (through URL not through using the simple search bar on all pages) it displays an advanced search form with three inputs (titleName, genreID, platformID) or it evaluates searchResponse variable and decides what to do. If simple search query is blank, has no results, or less than 3 characters it displays an error If advanced search query is blank, has no results, or less than 3 characters it displays an error If any successful search returns results, they come back normally. The top-of-page logic is as follows: <!---SET DEFAULT VARIABLE---> <cfparam name="variables.searchResponse" default=""> <!---CHECK TO SEE IF SIMPLE SEARCH A FORM WAS SUBMITTED AND EXECUTE SEARCH IF IT WAS---> <cfif IsDefined("Form.simpleSearch") AND Len(Trim(Form.titleName)) LTE 2> <cfset variables.searchResponse = "invalidString"> <cfelseif IsDefined("Form.simpleSearch") AND Len(Trim(Form.titleName)) GTE 3> <!---EXECUTE METHOD AND GET DATA---> <cfinvoke component="myComponent" method="simpleSearch" searchString="#Form.titleName#" returnvariable="simpleSearchResult"> <cfset variables.searchResponse = "simpleSearchResult"> </cfif> <!---CHECK IF ANY RECORDS WERE FOUND---> <cfif IsDefined("variables.simpleSearchResult") AND simpleSearchResult.RecordCount IS 0> <cfset variables.searchResponse = "noResult"> </cfif> <!---CHECK IF ADVANCED SEARCH FORM WAS SUBMITTED---> <cfif IsDefined("Form.AdvancedSearch") AND Len(Trim(Form.titleName)) LTE 2> <cfset variables.searchResponse = "invalidString"> <cfelseif IsDefined("Form.advancedSearch") AND Len(Trim(Form.titleName)) GTE 2> <!---EXECUTE METHOD AND GET DATA---> <cfinvoke component="myComponent" method="advancedSearch" returnvariable="advancedSearchResult" titleName="#Form.titleName#" genreID="#Form.genreID#" platformID="#Form.platformID#"> <cfset variables.searchResponse = "advancedSearchResult"> </cfif> <!---CHECK IF ANY RECORDS WERE FOUND---> <cfif IsDefined("variables.advancedSearchResult") AND advancedSearchResult.RecordCount IS 0> <cfset variables.searchResponse = "noResult"> </cfif> I'm using the searchResponse variable to decide what the the page displays, based on the following scenarios: <!---ALWAYS DISPLAY SIMPLE SEARCH BAR AS IT'S PART OF THE HEADER---> <form name="simpleSearch" action="search.cfm" method="post"> <input type="hidden" name="simpleSearch" /> <input type="text" name="titleName" /> <input type="button" value="Search" onclick="form.submit()" /> </form> <!---IF NO SEARCH WAS SUBMITTED DISPLAY DEFAULT FORM---> <cfif searchResponse IS ""> <h1>Advanced Search</h1> <!---DISPLAY FORM---> <form name="advancedSearch" action="search.cfm" method="post"> <input type="hidden" name="advancedSearch" /> <input type="text" name="titleName" /> <input type="text" name="genreID" /> <input type="text" name="platformID" /> <input type="button" value="Search" onclick="form.submit()" /> </form> </cfif> <!---IF SEARCH IS BLANK OR LESS THAN 3 CHARACTERS DISPLAY ERROR MESSAGE---> <cfif searchResponse IS "invalidString"> <cfoutput> <h1>INVALID SEARCH</h1> </cfoutput> </cfif> <!---IF SEARCH WAS MADE BUT NO RESULTS WERE FOUND---> <cfif searchResponse IS "noResult"> <cfoutput> <h1>NO RESULT FOUND</h1> </cfoutput> </cfif> <!---IF SIMPLE SEARCH WAS MADE A RESULT WAS FOUND---> <cfif searchResponse IS "simpleSearchResult"> <cfoutput> <h1>Search Results</h1> </cfoutput> <cfoutput query="simpleSearchResult"> <!---DISPLAY QUERY DATA---> </cfoutput> </cfif> <!---IF ADVANCED SEARCH WAS MADE A RESULT WAS FOUND---> <cfif searchResponse IS "advancedSearchResult"> <cfoutput> <h1>Search Results</h1> <p>Your search for "#Form.titleName#" returned #advancedSearchResult.RecordCount# result(s).</p> </cfoutput> <cfoutput query="advancedSearchResult"> <!---DISPLAY QUERY DATA---> </cfoutput> </cfif> Is my logic a) not efficient because my if statements/is there a better way to do this? And b) Can you see any scenarios where my code can break? I've tested it but I have not been able to find any issues with it. And I have no way of measuring performance. Any thoughts and ideas would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks

  • Get File Size of Modified Image Before Writing to Disk

    - by Otaku
    I'm doing a conversion from .jpg to .png in System.Drawing and one thing that I've found is that this conversion tends to make the resulting converted .png much larger than the .jpg original. Sometimes more than 10x larger after converting to .png. Given that seems to always be the case (unless you know of a way around this), is there any way to determine the file size of that .png before it is saved to disk? For example, maybe write it to a stream first and then get that stream size? How would I go about doing this?
