• ASP.Net Response Filter Causing SharePoint 2010 "Unexpected Error"

  Hello everyone, I'm debugging an HttpModule with an ASP.NET response filter. This dynamically rewrites portions of rendered SharePoint WCM pages. The publishing pages render fine in SP2007 on both Server 2003 and Server 2008. However the equivalent pages fail to render in SP2010 B2 on Server 2008 R2. The generic "An unexpected error has occurred message" page is displayed. This error only happens when the response filter is applied to an .aspx page. Other page types, such as .css, render fine on this platform. This error also happens when the response filter does not modify the page at all (pure pass-through). This KB article seems very closely related: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2014472. However, this same error occurs with caching disabled. I see no related entries in any of the following: ULS for SP, Event Log, Failed Request Tracing (IIS7). Running under the debugger suggests that the custom code is not raising any exceptions. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

  I have a DataGrid component that displays a few columns of data. What is the best way to catch the Button click in the parent component, and know what record it corresponds to? Should I use a Custom Event, or an itemEditor, or something else completely?

• UnsupportedEncodingException thrown when using Resin and Grails

  I've encountered a strange problem in a Grails webapp running under Grails: java.io.UnsupportedEncodingException is thrown quite frequently due to various unknown encoding strings (such as "ISO8859_10", "ISO-8859-10"), and the strange thing is that this is done entirely within the Resin and Grails code. That is - no custom code is involved when the exception is thrown. I'm not sure if it is Grails or the servlet container's code that should handle the exception. But I'd assume that the exception should be handled somewhere and not bubble up all the way to stderr. • GridView's NewValues and OldValues empty in the OnRowUpdating event.

  I have the GridView below. I am binding to a custom datasource in the code behind. It gets into the "OnRowUpdating" event just fine, but there are no NewValues or OldValues. • How to make Jtable column contain checkboxes?

  Preface: I am horrible with java, and worse with java ui components. I have found several different tutorials on how to add buttons to tables, however I am struggling with adding checkboxes. I need to have a column that draws a text box ticked on default (cell renderer i think handles that), then on click of tickbox, unticks the box, redraws said box, and fires off an event somewhere I can track. currently I have a custom cellrenderer: public class GraphButtonCellRenderer extends JCheckBox implements TableCellRenderer { public GraphButtonCellRenderer() { } public Component getTableCellRendererComponent(JTable table, Object value, boolean isSelected, boolean hasFocus, int row, int column) { if(isSelected) setSelected(true); else setSelected(false); setMargin(new Insets(0, 16, 0, 0)); setIconTextGap(0); setBackground(new Color(255,255,255,0)); return this; }} Which currently handles drawing the tick box, but only ticks and unticks the box if that row is selected. But I don't know how to handle the events. Really what I am asking is possibly a link to a good tutorial on how to add checkboxes cleanly to a JTable. Any assist is greatly appreciated :)

  Our company publishes our software product's documentation using a custom-built content management system using a dynamic URL namespace like this: http://ourproduct.com/documentation/version/pageid Where "version" is the version number to which the documentation applies, and "pageid" is a unique string which identifies that page in our back-end content management system. For example, if content (e.g. a page about configuration best practices) is unchanged from version 3.0 and 4.0 of our product, it'd be reachable by two different URLs: http://ourproduct.com/documentation/3.0/configuration-best-practices http://ourproduct.com/documentation/4.0/configuration-best-practices This URL scheme allows us to scope Google search results to see only documentaiton for a particular product version, like this: configuration site:ourproduct.com/documentation/4.0 But when the user is searching across all versions, we don't want Google to arbitrarily choose one of the URLs to show in results. Instead, we always want the latest version to show up. Hence our planned use of rel=canonical so we can proscriptively tell Google which URL we want to show up if multiple versions are being searched. (Users who do oddball things like searching 2 versions but not all of them are a corner case, so we don't care which version(s) show up in that case-- the primary use-cases we care about is searching one version or searching all versions) But what will happen to scoped searches if we do this? If my rel=canonical URL points to version 4.0, but my search is scoped to 3.0, will Google return a result? Even if you don't know the answer offhand, do you know a site which uses rel=canonical to redirect across folders in a URL namespace. If so, I could run a few Google searches and figure out the answer.

• Magento Set Grid to Filter Automatically by Current Day using Existing Datetime Column in Grid

  In Magento I'm creating a custom module and would love to be able to filter automatically by the datetime column so that the intial grid listing shows only entities related to "todays" date. Here is my datetime column: $this->addColumn('ts', array( 'header' => $hlp->__('Activated'), 'align' => 'left', 'index' => 'ts', 'type' => 'datetime', 'width' => '160px', )); I'm think there should be a way for me to just add a filter to the collection like so: $now = Mage::getModel('core/date')->timestamp(time()); $dateTime = date('m/d/y h:i:s', $now); $collection = Mage::getModel('mymodule/items')->getCollection() ->addFieldToFilter('ts', $dateTime); But this doesn't work? Am I using the wrong filter? My "ts" field in the database is a "datetime" field, but the default magento "From: " - "To:" date range selectors don't use hours, minutes, seconds. Any ideas?   Hey all, I'm trying my hand at creating a session which stores member information which the application can use to reveal certain navigation and allow access to certain pages and member role specific functionality. I've been able to assign my MemberLoggedIn object to the session in this way: //code excerpt start... I then can send the properties of Session["loggedIn"] to the View in this way: [ChildActionOnly] public ActionResult Login() { if (Session["loggedIn"] != null) ViewData.Model = Session["loggedIn"]; else ViewData.Model = null; return PartialView(); } In the Partial View I can reference the session data by using Model.Username or Model.Superuser. However, it doesn't seem to work that way in the controller or in a custom Action Filter. Is there a way to get the equivalent of Session["loggedIn"].Username?

Use the new keyword if hiding was intended. C:\projects_crisp-source_crisp\crisp-snippets\Snippets\T4MVC.cs 481 32 Snippets Is it possible to have strongly typed names of custom Routes, for example, I have route defined like this: routes.MapRoute( "Feed", "feed/", MVC.Snippets.Rss(), new { controller = "Snippets", action = "Rss" } ); Is it possible to replace: <%= Url.RouteUrl("Feed") %> with something like: <%= Url.RouteUrl(MVC.Routes.Feed) %> Having strongly typed links to static files is really cool, but I use <base /> in my pages, so I don't need any URL processing, can I redefine T4MVCHelpers.ProcessVirtualPath without tweaking the T4MVC.tt itself? T4MVC always generate links with uppercased controller and action names, for example: /Snippets/Add instead of /snippets/add. Is it possible to generate them lowercase?

• Handling Errors in PHP

  I have a custom class that, when called, will redirect to a page and send a 'message_type' and 'message' variable via GET. When the page opens it checks for these variables and displays a 'success', 'warning', or 'error' message depending on the 'message_type' variable. I made it so the user thinks they stay on the same page. It also allows for other variables to be passed along with the message. Is this good practice, or should I just start using exceptions? Example: //Call a static function that will redirect to a page, with an error message RedirectWithMessage::go('somepage.php', MessageType::ERROR, 'Error message here.'); The following checkMessage() function is an include file: function checkMessage() { if((isset($_GET['message_type']) && strlen($_GET['message_type'])) && (isset($_GET['message']) && strlen($_GET['message_type']))) { DisplayMessage::display($_GET['message_type'], $_GET['message']); return true; } return false; } On the page that is redirected to, call checkMessage(); //If a message is received, display it. If not, do nothing checkMessage(); I know this might be vague, and I can supply more code if necessary. I guess the issue is that I don't have much experience using exceptions, but I think they seem cumbersome (writing try-catch blocks everywhere). • django powering multiple shops from one code base on a single domain

  Hey, I am new to django and python and am trying to figure out how to modify an existing app to run multiple shops through a single domain. Django's sites middleware seems inappropriate in this particular case because it manages different domains, not sites run through the same domain, e.g. : domain.com/uk domain.com/us domain.com/es etc. Each site will need translated content - and minor template changes. The solution needs to be flexible enough to allow for easy modification of templates. The forms will also need to vary a bit, e.g minor variances in fields and validation for each country specific shop. I am thinking along the lines of the following as a solution and would love some feedback from experienced django-ers: In short: same codebase, but separate country specific urls files, separate templates and separate database Create a middleware class that does IP localisation, determines the country based on the URL and creates a database connection, e.g. /au/ will point to the au specific database and so on. in root urls.py have routes that point to a separate country specific routing file, e..g (r'^au/',include('urls_au')), (r'^es/',include('urls_es')), use a single template directory but in that directory have a localised directory structure, e.g. /base.html and /uk/base.html and write a custom template loader that looks for local templates first. (or have a separate directory for each shop and set the template directory path in middleware) use the django internationalisation to manage translation strings throughout slight variances in forms and models (e.g. ZA has an ID field, France has 'door code' and 'floor' etc.) I am unsure how to handle these variations but I suspect the tables will contain all fields but allowing nulls and the model will have all fields but allowing nulls. The forms will to be modified slightly for each shop. Anyway, I am keen to get feedback on the best way to go about achieving this multi site solution. It seems like it would work, but feels a bit "hackish" and I wonder if there's a more elegant way of getting this solution to work. Thanks, imanc

• Alternative to MS Project 2007 for production scheduling?

  OK... Im coming to grips with the fact that MS Project 2007 may not be the correct tool for my production scheduling. We serve 120 to 150 projects a year with durations from 6 weeks to 12 months. The task are simple (6 to 8 per project) and the resource pool is stable (15 to 20 people). It's really an assembly line product but with extremely varied durations. I need to be able to prioritize the projects for production and run projects concurrently to fully utilize my resources. What are the feelings of the stackoverflow community. Am I using the wrong program? I was really hoping to make this simple for non-programer types to input project data into a form and have the schedule software automated enough to make most of the decisions. Is there a better solution available commercially? I'd like to hold on writing a custom spreadsheet as a last resort but if that's the best route then so be it. Thank you so much for your input.

  I am a relative newbie when it comes to SQL Azure!! I was wondering if there was a definitive list somewhere regarding what is and is not supported by SQL Azure in regards to SQL Server 2008? I was wondering if anyone could point to a list or give me any information till when these features are likely to be included in SQL Azure.

• how can I speed up insertion of many rows to a table via ADO.NET?

  I have a table that has 5 columns: AcctId (int), Address1 (varchar), Address2 (varchar), Person1 (varchar), Person2 (varchar) . I'm generating random data to insert into this table via a C# console application. I've tried doing this random data insert via SQL-Server and decided it was not a good solution -- SQL is not good at random on an each-row basis. Generating the random data -- 975k rows of it -- takes a minimal amount of time. It's in a List of custom objects. I need to take this random data and update many rows in the database with the new random data. I tried updating the rows one at a time, very slow because of the repeated searching of the List object in code. So I think the best approach is to put all the randomized data into a table in the database, then update all the other tables that use this data. I.e. UPDATE t SET t.Address1=d.Address1 FROM Table1 t INNER JOIN RandomizedData d ON d.AcctId = t.Acct_ID. The database is very un-normalized so this Acct data is sprinkled all over the place. I've got no control of the normalization. So, having decided to insert all of the randomized data into a single table, I set out to create insert scripts: USE TheDatabase Insert tmp_RandomizedData SELECT 1,'4392 EIGHTH AVE','','JENNIFER CARTER','BARBARA CARTER' UNION ALL SELECT 2,'2168 MAIN ST','HNGR F','DANIEL HERNANDEZ','SUSAN MARTIN' // etc another 98 times... // FYI, this is not real data! I'm building this INSERT script in batches of 100. It's taking on average 175 ms to run each insert. Does this seem like a long time? It's going to take about 35 mins to run the whole insert. The table doesn't have a primary key or any indexes. I was planning on adding those after all the data in inserted (thinking that that would be faster). Is there a better way to do this?

• VEMap and a GeoRSS feed(hosted separately)

  The scenario is as follows: A WCF web service exists that outputs a valid GeoRSS feed. This lives in its own domain as a number of different applications have access to it. A web page(on a different site) has been created with an instance of a VEMap(Bing/Virtual Earth map object). Now, VEMap can accept an input feed in this format via the following: var layer = new VEShapeLayer(); var veLayerSpec = new VEShapeSourceSpecification(VEDataType.GeoRSS, "someurl", layer); map.ImportShapeLayerData(veLayerSpec, onComplete, true); onComplete is a callback function I'm using to replace the default pin graphic with something custom. The question is in regards to "someurl", which is a path to a local xml file containing the geographic information(georss simple format). I've realized this feed and the map must be hosted in the same domain, so I've created a generic handler that reads the remote feed and returns it in the same format. var veLayerSpec = new VEShapeSourceSpecification(VEDataType.GeoRSS, "/somelocalhandler.ashx", layer); When I do this, I get the VEMap error("z is null"). This is the same error one would receive when trying to access a remote feed. When I copy the feed into a local xml file(ie, "feed.xml") there is no error. The order of operations is currently: remote feed - local handler - VEMap import If I'm over complicating this procedure, let me know! I'm a bit new to the Bing Maps API and might have missed something. Any assistance is appreciated.

• Automatic Deployment to Multiple Production Environments

  I want to update an ASP .NET web application (including web.config file changes and database scripts) to multiple production environments - ideally with the click of a button. I do not have direct network connectivity to any of them. I think this means the application servers will have to "pull" the information required for updating the application, and run a script to update the application that resides on the server. Basically, I need a way to "publish" an update, and the servers see that update and automatically download and run it. I've thought about possibly setting up an SFTP server for publishing updates, and developing a custom tool which is installed on production environments which looks at the SFTP server every day and downloads application files if they are available. That would at least get the required files onto the servers, and I could use xcopy/robocopy and Migrator.NET to deploy the updates. Still not sure about config file changes, but that at least gets me somewhere. Is there any good solution for this scenario? Are there any tools that do this for you?

• C# visually subclass datagridview control VS2005

  Maybe its something stupid, but I'm having a problem with a subclass of a DataGridView Control in VS2005 C#. I know I can subclass from almost anything by doing public class MyDataGridView : DataGridView {} no problem, and I put in some things / elements I want applicable globally. Now, I take this gridview and put into a custom user control that will contain other controls too. So I have something like created by the visual designer. I grab some buttons, label, and my derived "MyDataGridView" on it. public partial class MyCompoundDGVPlus : UserControl So, now, I can visually draw, move, change all sorts of settings as needed, no problem. Now, I want this "MyCompoundDGVPlus" class as the basis for other classes, of which I will manipulate settings specific, but want all to have the same look / feel, and otherwise similar flow, hence the derivations. I've even set the "modifiers" setting to public, so I SHOULD be able to modify any of the properties of the controls at any derived level. So, now, I create a new subclass of "MyFirstDetailedDGVPlus" derived from "MyCompoundDGVPlus". Ok visually, all the label, button, datagridview appear. However, now I want to specifically define the columns of the datagridview here in this class visually, but its locked. However, the LABEL on the form, I CAN get all the property settings.... What am I missing.

• UITableView not responding to row selection until a different row is selected

  This is driving me nuts. I have searched on everything I can think of to find a solution but haven't found one yet. I've got a UITableView that uses custom cells. The accessory is the detail disclosure button. I would like the cell to respond to either row selection or the disclosure button being tapped. It responds to the disclosure button just as you would expect. But selecting the row is a different story. When I select the row, it highlights, but nothing happens until I tap a different row. Then the previously selected row does what it was supposed to do, which is to create and push a new view controller for that row. If I tap a single row five times and then tap a different row, it then creates and pushes five view controllers for that first row. It does this both in the simulator and on the device. What's really maddening is that I have another tableview in the same application that responds correctly to row selection or tapping the detail disclosure button. I can't find anything I've done differently between the two. Has anyone seen this before?

• How to return proper 404 for google while providing user friendly content to the user?

  I am bouncing between posting this here and on Superuser. Please excuse me if you feel this does not belong here. I am observing the behavior described here - Googlebot is requesting random urls on my site, like aecgeqfx.html or sutwjemebk.html. I am sure that I am not linking these urls from anywhere on my site. I suspect this may be google probing how we handle non existent content - to cite from an answer to the linked question: [google is requesting random urls to] see if your site correctly handles non-existent files (by returning a 404 response header) We have a custom page for nonexistent content - a styled page saying "Content not found, if you believe you got here by error, please contact us", with a few internal links, served (naturally) with a 200 OK. The URL is served directly (no redirection to a single url). I am afraid this may discriminate the site at google - they may not interpret the user friendly page as a 404 - not found and may think we are trying to fake something and provide duplicate content. How should I proceed to ensure that google will not think the site is bogus while providing user friendly message to users in case they click on dead links by accident?

  Hi Everyone, i m developing an application in .NET mvc2. i m using aspnetMembershipProvider for User registration and related activities. i need some custom information about user that i stored in a separate table (sysUser for example) and linked it to aspnetUser table through foreign key. after Login i need to fetch user's credentials from sysUser table and push it to the session. • .NET Hashtable - "Same" key, different hashes

  Is it possible for two .net strings to have different hashes? I have a Hashtable with amongst others the key "path". When I loop through the elements in the table to print it, i can see that the key exists. When trying to looking it up however, there is no matching element. Debugging suggests that the string I'm looking for has a different hash than the one I'm supplying as the key. This code is in a Castle Monorail project, using brail as a view engine. The key I'm looking for is inserted by a brail line like this: UrlHelper.Link(node.CurrentPage.LinkText, {@params: {@path: "/Page1"}}) Then, in this method (in a custom IRoutingRule): public string CreateUrl(System.Collections.IDictionary parameters) { PrintDictionaryToLog(parameters); string url; if (parameters.Contains("path")) { url = (string)parameters["path"]; } else { return null; } } The key is printed to the log, but the function returns null. I didn't know this could even be a problem with .net strings, but I guess this is some kind of encoding issue? Oh, and this is running mono.

• Action Filter Dependency Injection in ASP.NET MVC 3 RC2 with StructureMap

  Hi, I've been playing with the DI support in ASP.NET MVC RC2. I have implemented session per request for NHibernate and need to inject ISession into my "Unit of work" action filter. If I reference the StructureMap container directly (ObjectFactory.GetInstance) or use DependencyResolver to get my session instance, everything works fine: ISession Session { get { return DependencyResolver.Current.GetService<ISession>(); } } However if I attempt to use my StructureMap filter provider (inherits FilterAttributeFilterProvider) I have problems with committing the NHibernate transaction at the end of the request. It is as if ISession objects are being shared between requests. I am seeing this frequently as all my images are loaded via an MVC controller so I get 20 or so NHibernate sessions created on a normal page load. I added the following to my action filter: ISession Session { get { return DependencyResolver.Current.GetService<ISession>(); } } public ISession SessionTest { get; set; } public override void OnResultExecuted(System.Web.Mvc.ResultExecutedContext filterContext) { bool sessionsMatch = (this.Session == this.SessionTest); SessionTest is injected using the StructureMap Filter provider. I found that on a page with 20 images, "sessionsMatch" was false for 2-3 of the requests. My StructureMap configuration for session management is as follows: For<ISessionFactory>().Singleton().Use(new NHibernateSessionFactory().GetSessionFactory()); For<ISession>().HttpContextScoped().Use(ctx => ctx.GetInstance<ISessionFactory>().OpenSession()); In global.asax I call the following at the end of each request: public Global() { EndRequest += (sender, e) => { ObjectFactory.ReleaseAndDisposeAllHttpScopedObjects(); }; } Is this configuration thread safe? Previously I was injecting dependencies into the same filter using a custom IActionInvoker. This worked fine until MVC 3 RC2 when I started experiencing the problem above, which is why I thought I would try using a filter provider instead. Any help would be appreciated Ben P.S.
