  I have a VS2008 clickonce application with a custom prerequiste, which I install with the bootstrapper. When deployed online, the prerequisite is downloaded and installed fine. No problems. When deployed via CD to a Windows XP machine, also fine as above. No problems. However, when deployed via CD to a Windows 7 machine: the prerequisite is downloaded - good then the user is asked for permission to the run the file - good then the installation of the prerequiste is just SKIPPED - bad and the ClickOnce application installation begins without the prerequisite - bad Has anyone encountered this weird behaviour? I cannot find a solution anywhere.

• How to detect crashing tabed webbrowser and handle it?

  I have a desktop application (forms) with a tab control, I assign a tab and a new custom webrowser control. I open up about 10 of these tabs. Each one visits about 100 - 500 different pages. The trouble is that if 1 webbrowser control has a problem it shuts down the entire program. I want to be able to close the offending webbrowser control and open a new one in it's place. Is there any event that I need to subscribe to catch a crashing or unresponsive webbrowser control ?   For my client's custom-built CRM, I want users (technicians) to be notified of changes to marked cases via email. This warrants a simple subscription mapping table between users and cases and automated emails to be sent every time a change is made to a case from within the logging method. How do I send 10-100 emails to subscribed users without bogging down my logging method? My SMTP server is on a peer on my LAN, so sends should be quick, but ideally this should be handled by an external queuing process. I can have a cron job send any outstanding emails every 10 minutes, but for this specific client cases are quite time-sensitive and instant notification (as instant as email can be) would be great. How can I send bulk notification emails from within ASP.NET MVC without bogging down my logging method?

  I have a custom view displaying a hierarchy model of the current project. The root element is of class MyProject which is my own class, but it represents one Eclipse IProject, and it's adaptable to IProject. I have a "properties" menu option in the popup menu for that view, and I'd like to open up IProject's properties when a MyProject object is selected. PropertyDialogAction only looks for property pages registered for MyProject and doesn't give me a chance to offer an adapter -- or, at least, I don't know how to offer one. What's the proper solution for this? In the meantime, I've overridden PropertyDialogAction to handle my class in the special way I require, but that seems like quite a kludge to get this done.

I would like to embed a chromeless youtube video which plays automatically on page load, does not have controls for participants to play around with, and loads the next page once the video finishes. Now the autoplay/forward to next page functions are secondary and I'm not too concerned if I can't get them working. However I am very interested in how to embed a chromeless player. I have gone to the google playground but this code already has the controls attached. • Is it possible to programmatically control c# health monitoring without using the web.config file?

  I have developed my own custom provider for the health monitoring; however, I use parameters in the constructor and this is not allowed when using the health monitoring from the web.config file. Does anyone know if I can turn on/off the monitoring and have it watch properly through code (possibly in my global.asax file on application startup). Or, is it possible for me to create my own watcher that will do the same thing as the health monitor. Or, finally - can I just pass variables from the web.config setup (i'm not familiar with the public token part of the provider type declaration). Thanks in advance

So, I can't step through the code, but I've pinned down the culprit. But now I am puzzled. Here's the code. The question is below. Why would the standard authors explicitly add this restriction? This makes it unspecified, for example, what happens if you make complex<int> or a complex<MyCustomFixedPointType> and seems like an artificial restriction. Is there a reason for this limitation? Is there a workaround if you want to instantiate complex with your own custom type? I'm primarily asking this question because of this earlier question, in which the OP was confused as to why abs was giving bizarre outputs for complex<int>.   So here's the deal I'm working on a project that I had originally focused on Zend Framework, But now I want to get into ASP.NET MVC and boy lets just say it's good and a great start though i'm still at the beginning stage of it. But I am having issues with passing Data From My Controller to the Master / Layout Page. Now in Zend I am able to determine which controller and which action I am in through a helper I created. Now I want to implement the same functionality in this ASP.NET MVC application. So my Master Layout Page knows which Controller I am in and hence highilighting the navigation for it. I am using a straight custom html li a structure navigation. Any help on this specific topic would be greatly appreciated.

  Can I pass events like key strokes to another control in Silverlight? Imagine I'm in a custom control that contains a Textbox and a Treeview. I'm listening to a Key event for the TextBox. When the user pushes the Arrow Up or Arrow Down key, I want the Treeview to behave as if it's itself who received that event, i.e. it should move the current selection up or down. The user shouldn't lose focus on the TextBox though so that they can continue typing. Is this possible? I don't want to set the selection manually on the Treeview because it has no easy MoveSelectionUp() or MoveSelectionDown() method, so I would have to duplicate that functionality which is not so trivial especially when the tree is databound and loads nodes on demand.

  Hi, I have two custom entites, Product and ProductType, linked together in many-to-one relationship. Product has a lookup field to ProductType. I'm trying to write a query to fetch Type1 products with a price over 100, and Type2 products with a price lower than 100. Here's how I would do it in SQL : select * from Product P inner join ProductType T on T.Id = P.TypeId where (T.Code = 'Type1' and P.Price >= 100) or (T.Code = 'Type2' and P.Price < 100) I can't figure out a way to build a QueryExpression to do exactly that. I know I could do it with two queries, but I'd like to minimize roundtrips to the server. Is there a way to perform that query in only one operation ? Thanks!

  Is there a way to display User fields under a form that adds/edits a UserProfile model? I am extending default Django User model like this: class UserProfile(models.Model): user = models.OneToOneField(User, unique=True) about = models.TextField(blank=True) I know that it is possible to make a: class UserProfileInlineAdmin(admin.TabularInline): and then inline this in User ModelAdmin but I want to achieve the opposite effect, something like inverse inlining, displaying the fields of the model pointed by the OneToOne Relationship (User) in the page of the model defining the relationship (UserProfile). I don't care if it would be in the admin or in a custom view/template. I just need to know how to achieve this. I've been struggling with ModelForms and Formsets, I know the answer is somewhere there, but my little experience in Django doesn't allow me to come up with the solution yet. A little example would be really helpful!

  I "inherited" an old Database where dates are stored as Int32 values (times too, but dates shall suffice for this example) i.e. 20090101 for Jan. 1st 2009. I can not change the schema of this database because it is still accessed by the old programs. However I want to write a new program using EF as the O/R-M. Now I'd love to have DateTime-Values in my Model. Is there a way to write a custom type and use this as a Type in the EF-Model. Something like a Type "OldDate" with properties: DatabaseValue : Int23 Value : DateTime (specifying the date-part whereas the time-part is always 0:00:00) Is something like this possible with the EF-Model ?

  Will using a popup view to present a comment submission form violate the HIGS? I may have one popup with selections that goes to the final popup. Two popups back to back. This is more similar to a modal type of view than an alert or action sheet as described by the HIGS: http://developer.apple.com/iphone/library/documentation/UserExperience/Conceptual/MobileHIG/ModalViews/ModalViews.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40006556-CH11-SW1 under the section 'Using Modal Views'. Basically the type of view I'm shooting for is a combination of an alert with a custom view. It's sort of a mini view since it will be centered in the middle of the screen but not take up all of the viewing area. I'm fairly sure that is a violation however, but I'm looking for a few opinions on it. I believe what needs to happen is use a modal view, which will cover the entire view.
