  • cut text from each line in a txt file

    i have a text file where each line looks like this: <img border=0 width=555 height=555 src=http://websitelinkimagelinkhere> each line is like that for like 1500 lines, i want to sort of 'grep' (i dont think that will work because it returns the whole line) each line for 'http://websiteimagelinkhere' output file should have newlines or tabs after each image link, like the original file. or if someone only knows a way to do this with each element being in a cell of the same column that would be okay too.

  • Is it possible to fix photos that are taken blurred

    I took pictures with a digital camera and I didn't notice that the blur setting is on so the pictures that were taken were all blurred. The camera has no edit feature. Is it still possible to fix it using photoshop? I followed this tutorial on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpWDihBHRqM which uses photoshop but no luck. As much as possible I want to see the output that is close to a picture that is taken without the blur setting on.

  • My firefox scrolling is jerky and very slow - how can I fix this?

    I have already turned 'smooth scrolling' on and have downloaded a plugin called 'smooth scrolling'. Whenever I scroll down, the browser movement is very jerky and slow. It is pretty much unusable. However, scrolling in a div with overflow: auto (like the related questions div above the question input textarea) scrolls fine. I am using Windows XP freshly installed with Firefox 3.5.1 Anyone have any solutions?

    In debian/ubuntu I want to a) create a list of all the files in one directory tree b) do the same for a second directory tree c) compare the two lists such that, only the file NAMES are compared (i.e. just comparing the "file.txt" part so that "/home/folder/file.txt" == "/home/secondfolder/folder/file.txt) d) output a list of all the duplicates can anyone please explain how to do this using scripting languages or regex or something?

    I'm constructing a backup script for Windows 7, and the last action I want it to perform is to safely "remove" the USB drive that it is backing up to. I am under the impression that plugging the drive into the SAME USB port all the time will keep the same DEV_ID, correct me if I'm wrong. With a Command Line (or PowerShell), how can I tell Windows to safely remove the hardware automatically without user input? Just as a place holder, other OSes that may have a way to do this would be great to know as well

  • Is it possible to run several virtual machines each with independent mouse+keyboard on a single PC?

    My goal is to instead of buying 4 separate basic PCs (plus the obvious peripherals), buy just one fast PC and the peripherals. I'm wondering if I can use a more powerful computer, say, one with core i7 and plenty of RAM, with 2 video cards (total of 4 monitor outputs) to run 4 or more virtual machines (WinXPs) so instead of having 4 individual machines, I'll be having just one. However, the catch is, is it possible to have a pair of mouse and keyboard + input/output audio for each of these virtual machines?

  • joining text files with 600M+ lines

    I have two files huge.txt and small.txt. Huge has around 600M rows and it's 14Gigs, each line has four space separated words (tokens) and finally another space separated column with a number. Small has 150K rows with a size of ~3M, a space separated word and a number. Both Files are sorted using the sort command, with no extra options. The words in both files may include apostrophes (') and dashes (-). The deisred output would contain all columns from the huge.txt and the second column (the number) from small txt where the first word of huge.txt and the first word of small.txt match. My attemtpts below failed miserably with the following error: cat huge.txt|join -o 1.1 1.2 1.3 1.4 2.2 - small.txt > output.txt join: memory exhausted What I suspect is that the sorting order isn't right somehow even though the files are pre-sorted using: sort -k1 huge.unsorted.txt > huge.txt sort -k1 small.unsorted.txt > small.txt Problems seem to appear around words that have apostrophes (') or dashes (-). I also tried dictinoary sorting using the -d option bumping into the same error at the end. I see two ways out of this but don't know how to implement any of them. 1) Any tips how to sort the files in a way that the join command considers them to be sorted properly? 2) I was thinking of calculating MD5 or some other hashes of the strings to get rid of the apostrophes and dashes, and do the sorting and joining with the hashes instead of the strings themselves an dat the "translate" back the hashes to strings, but leave the numbers intact at the end of the lines. Since there would be only 150K hashes it's not that bad. What would be a good way to calculate individual hashes for each of the strings? Some AWK magic? See file samples at the end.   • Zabbix not getting data for one filesystem

    I have Zabbix monitoring disk space for several volumes on several servers. It works fine on all of them except for one of the volumes on one of the servers which always reports as 0. However, when I run ./zabbix_get -s localhost -p 10050 -k 'vfs.fs.size[/home, free]' locally on the machine in question, it gives me the correct, non-zero size which matches the output of df. How can I go about troubleshooting and correcting this problem?

  • keyboard works in the BIOS(except a), but not at the password screen(win 7, 64bit)

    The computer is a acer aspire 7720g laptop. When windows want me to input my password, the only keys working is caps lock, the numpad and the m key(and the m key works like a combined m and enter key). I did spill some water on the keyboard yesterday but the same thing happens with usb keyboards. I disabled the quick boot in the bios, making it go through every test at bootup, which resulted in continous beeping from the computer. Anyone know how to solve this?

  • Simulate printers on AD network
