  • Markup filter wanted for a public website

    - by sibidiba
Developing a community site where everyone can post text, I'm looking for a markup filter: What is not part of the markup must be escaped (htmlspecialchars()) as it is. Should turn URL-s automatically into links Should support some form of basic markups (bold, image, url, pre, list) Should have a simple parser, that turns user input text into HTML Content on the site is public to everyone, XSS must not allowed to happen. What do you suggest? What markup language in the first place? BBCode? Wiki? Markdown? Are there any complete API-s with good examples? PHP is available on the server side. If there is a WYSIWYG-like texarea in addition (like here on SO) that would be a fantastic bonus!

  • Problem creating PostGIS template database

    - by omat
I am trying to build a template geographic database for PostGIS (1.5) on Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) for my GeoDjango application. I am following: http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/ref/contrib/gis/install/#creating-a-spatial-database-template-for-postgis I've managed to come up to the point where the provided postgis.sql should be run (i.e. psql -d template_postgis -f $POSTGIS_SQL_PATH/postgis.sql) At that point I am getting an error at the first SQL statement that is tried to be run. When I try that on the psql prompt the result is as follows: template_postgis=# CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION st_spheroid_in(cstring) RETURNS spheroid AS '/usr/local/pgsql/lib/postgis-1.5','ellipsoid_in' LANGUAGE 'C' IMMUTABLE STRICT; NOTICE: type "spheroid" is not yet defined DETAIL: Creating a shell type definition. ERROR: could not load library "/usr/local/pgsql/lib/postgis-1.5.so": dlopen(/usr/local/pgsql/lib/postgis-1.5.so, 10): Symbol not found: _DatumGetFloat4 Referenced from: /usr/local/pgsql/lib/postgis-1.5.so Expected in: /opt/local/lib/postgresql83/bin/postgres in /usr/local/pgsql/lib/postgis1.5.so Any ideas what might have been messed up?

  • Thread safe lockfree mutual ByteArray queue

    - by user313421
A byte stream should be transferred and there is one producer thread and a consumer one. Speed of producer is higher than consumer most of the time, and I need enough buffered data for QoS of my application. I read about my problem and there are solutions like shared buffer, PipeStream .NET class ... This class is going to be instantiated many times on server so I need and optimized solution. Is it good idea to use a Queue of ByteArray ? If yes, I'll use an optimization algorithm to guess the Queue size and each ByteArray capacity and theoretically it fits my case. If no, I what's the best approach ? Please let me know if there's a good lock free thread safe implementation of ByteArray Queue in C# or VB. Thanks in advance

  • Concatenation Operator - PHP

    - by Chaitanya
This might be a silly question but it struck me, and here i ask. <?php $x="Hi"; $y=" There"; $z = $x.$y; $a = "$x$y"; echo "$z"."<br />"."$a"; ?> $z uses the traditional concatenation operator provided by php and concatenates, conversely $a doesn't, My questions: a. by not using the concatenation operator, does it effect the performance? b. If it doesn't why at all have the concatenation operator. c. Why have 2 modes of implementation when one does the work?

  • Scala: Can I nudge a combinator parser to be locally greedy?

    - by eed3si9n
Suppose I have an ambiguous language expressed in combinator parser. Is there a way to make certain expressions locally greedy? Here's an example of what I mean. import scala.util.parsing.combinator._ object Example extends JavaTokenParsers { def obj: Parser[Any] = (shortchain | longchain) ~ anyrep def longchain: Parser[Any] = zero~zero~one~one def shortchain: Parser[Any] = zero~zero def anyrep: Parser[Any] = rep(any) def any: Parser[Any] = zero | one def zero: Parser[Any] = "0" def one: Parser[Any] = "1" def main(args: Array[String]) { println(parseAll(obj, args(0) )) } } After compiling, I can run it as follows: $ scala Example 001111 [1.7] parsed: ((0~0)~List(1, 1, 1, 1)) I would like to somehow instruct the first part of obj to be locally greedy and match with longchain. If I switch the order around, it matches the longchain, but that's not because of the greediness. def obj: Parser[Any] = (longchain | shortchain) ~ anyrep

  • What is the most efficient Java Collections library?

    - by dehmann
What is the most efficient Java Collections library? A few years ago, I did a lot of Java and had the impression back then that trove is the best (most efficient) Java Collections implementation. But when I read the answers to the question "Most useful free Java libraries?" I noticed that trove is hardly mentioned. So which Java Collections library is best now? UPDATE: To clarify, I mostly want to know what library to use when I have to store millions of entries in a hash table etc. (need a small runtime and memory footprint).

  • Parsing Indentation-based syntaxes in Haskell's Parsec

    - by pavpanchekha
I'm trying to parse an indentation-based language (think Python, Haskell itself, Boo, YAML) in Haskell using Parsec. I've seen the IndentParser library, and it looks like it's the perfect match, but what I can't figure out is how to make my TokenParser into an indentation parser. Here's the code I have so far: import qualified Text.ParserCombinators.Parsec.Token as T import qualified Text.ParserCombinators.Parsec.IndentParser.Token as IT lexer = T.makeTokenParser mylangDef ident = IT.identifier lexer This throws the error: parser2.hs:29:28: Couldn't match expected type `IT.TokenParser st' against inferred type `T.GenTokenParser s u m' In the first argument of `IT.identifier', namely `lexer' In the expression: IT.identifier lexer In the definition of `ident': ident = IT.identifier lexer What am I doing wrong? How should I create an IT.TokenParser? Or is IndentParser broken and to be avoided?

  • Is is possible to programmatically change the resourceProviderFactoryType?

    - by Robert Massa
I have a custom implementation of IResourceProvider and ResourceProviderFactory. Now the default way of making sure ASP.NET uses these custom types is to use the web.config and specify the factory like so: <globalization resourceProviderFactoryType="Product.Globalization.TranslationResourceProviderFactory" /> This works perfectly, except that in my resource provider I need database access. I want to use my IoC-container(Ninject) to inject the repositories needed to access this data into the CustomResourceProvider. But how am I going to do this? I have no control over the instantiation of the factory, so the factory can't get a reference to my IoC. Is there any way to register a custom provider programmatically, in for example the Global.asax?

  • Tomcat Compression Does Not Add a Content-Encoding: gzip in the Header

    - by Julien Chastang
I am using Tomcat to compress my HTML content like this: <Connector port="8080" maxHttpHeaderSize="8192" maxProcessors="150" maxThreads="150" minSpareThreads="25" maxSpareThreads="75" enableLookups="false" redirectPort="8443" acceptCount="150" connectionTimeout="20000" disableUploadTimeout="true" compression="on" compressionMinSize="128" noCompressionUserAgents="gozilla, traviata" compressableMimeType="text/html" URIEncoding="UTF-8" /> In the HTTP header (as observed via YSlow), however, I am not seeing Content-Encoding: gzip resulting in a poor YSlow score. All I see is HeadersPost Response Headers Server: Apache-Coyote/1.1 Content-Type: text/html;charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Language: en-US Content-Length: 5251 Date: Sat, 14 Feb 2009 23:33:51 GMT I am running an apache mod_jk Tomcat configuration. How do I compress HTML content with Tomcat, and also have it add "Content-Encoding: gzip" in the header?

  • Best practice for copying private instance vars with NSCopying

    - by Ben
I might be missing something obvious here, but I'm implementing NSCopying on one of my objects. That object has private instance variables that are not exposed via getters, as they shouldn't be used outside the object. In my implementation of copyWithZone:, I need alloc/init the new instance, but also set up its state to match the current instance. I can obviously access current private state from inside copyWithZone:, but I can't set it into the new object, because there are no accessors for that state. Is there a standard way around this while still keeping data privacy intact? Thanks.

  • How do I edit an interface builder object programmatically?

    - by Evelyn
I created a label using Interface Builder, and now I want to set the background color of the label using code instead of IB's color picker. (I want to do this so that I can define the color using RGB and eventually change the colorspace for the label.) I'm in cocoa. How do I edit the attributes of an IB object using code? My code looks like this: //.h file #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface IBAppDelegate : NSObject { UILabel *label; } @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UILabel *label; @end //.m file #import "IBAppDelegate.h" @implementation IBAppDelegate @synthesize label; (memory stuff...) @end

  • What are logical and path queries

    - by NomeN
I'm reading a paper which mentions that a language for refactoring has three specific requirements. functional features (like ML) logical queries (like Datalog) path queries (like Datalog) I know what they mean by functional features, but I'm not totally clear on the latter two and can't find a clear explanation either. Although I have a good idea after what I could find on the subjects, I need to be sure so here goes: Could the SO-community please clearly explain to me what logical queries and path queries are? Or at the very least what the people from the paper meant?

  • ASP.NET Hosting Options

    - by Adam Haile
I'm not trying to start a "which language is better" argument here, so please don't go there. I typically use PHP for most of my web development (mostly because hosting is cheap), but for various reasons I'm looking to use ASP.NET for a couple new projects. But one of the major reasons I've stayed away from ASP.NET up until now is the cost. I've seen some budget hosting options, but they always seem a little sketchy to me. From what I've generally found, that's just the way the hosting scene looks for ASP.NET unless you want to go dedicated. Does anyone have any good suggestions for a solid ASP.NET host with a good feature set and reliability for my money? Also, are there any options out there along the lines of Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud? And yes, I know... Mono. I'm talking about Windows based "grid" hosting options?

  • Detecting Infinite recursion in Python or dynamic languages

    - by drozzy
Recently I tried compiling program something like this with GCC: int f(int i){ if(i<0){ return 0;} return f(i-1); and it ran just fine. When I inspected the stack frames the compiler optimized the program to use only one frame, by just jumping back to the beginning of the function and only replacing the arguments to f. And - the compiler wasn't even running in optimized mode. Now, when I try the same thing in Python - I hit maximum recursion wall (or stack overflow). Is there way that a dynamic language like python can take advantage of these nice optimizations? Maybe it's possible to use a compiler instead of an interpreter to make this work? Just curious!

  • Can I inject a SessionBean into a JEE AroundInvoke-Interceptor?

    - by Michael Locher
I have an EAR with modules: foo-api.jar foo-impl.jar interceptor.jar In foo-api there is: @Local FooService // (interface of a local stateless session bean) In foo-impl there is: @Stateless FooServiceImpl implements FooService //(implementation of the foo service) In interceptor.jar I want public class BazInterceptor { @EJB private FooService foo; @AroundInvoke public Object intercept( final InvocationContext i) throws Exception { // do someting with foo service return i.proceed(); } The question is: Will a Java EE 5 compliant application server (e.g. JBoss 5) inject into the interceptor? If no, what is good strategy for accessing the session bean? To consider: Deployment ordering / race conditions

  • Comparing images using SIFT

    - by Luís Fernando
I'm trying to compare 2 images that are taken from a digital camera. Since there may be movement on the camera, I want to first make the pictures "match" and then compare (using some distant function). To match them, I'm thinking about cropping the second picture and using SIFT to find it inside the first picture... it will probably have a small difference on scale/translation/rotation so then I'd need to find the transformation matrix that converts image 1 to image 2 (based on points found by SIFT) any ideas on how to do that (or I guess that's a common problem that may have some opensource implementation?)? thanks

  • java equivalent of ruby's ||= syntax

    - by brad
I'm brand new to java, coming from a ruby world. One thing I love about ruby is the very terse syntax such as ||=. I realize of course that a compiled language is different, but I'm wondering if Java has anything similar. In particular, what I do all the time in ruby is something like: someVar ||= SomeClass.new I think this is incredibly terse, yet powerful, but thus far the only method I can think of to achieve the same thing is a very verbose: if(someVar == null){ someVar = new SomeClass() } Just trying to improve my Java-fu and syntax is certainly one area that I'm no pro.

  • BackgroundWorker vs background Thread

    - by freddy smith
I have a stylistic question about the choice of background thread implementation I should use on a windows form app. Currently I have a BackgroundWorker on a form that has an infinite (while(true)) loop. In this loop I use WaitHandle.WaitAny to keep the thread snoozing until something of interest happens. One of the event handles I wait on is a "stopthread" event so that I can break out of the loop. This event is signaled when from my overridden Form.Dispose(). I read somewhere that BackgroundWorker is really intended for operations that you dont want to tie up the UI with and have an finite end - like downloading a file, or processing a sequence of items. In this case the "end" is unknown and only when the window is closed. Therefore would it be more appropriate for me to use a background Thread instead of BackgroundWorker for this purpose?

  • Managing string resources in a Java application - singleton?

    - by Joe Attardi
I seek a solution to the age-old problem of managing string resources. My current implementation seems to work well, but it depends on using singletons, and I know how often singletons can be maligned. The resource manager class has a singleton instance that handles lookups in the ResourceBundle, and you use it like so: MessageResources mr = MessageResources.getMessageResources(); // returns singleton instance ... JLabel helloLabel = new JLabel(mr.getString("label.hello")); Is this an appropriate use of a singleton? Is there some better, more universally used approach that I'm not aware of? I understand that this is probably a bit subjective, but any feedback I can get would be appreciated. I'd rather find out early on that I'm doing it wrong than later on in the process. Thanks!

  • VS development on FDCC compliant Workstation

    - by paramesh kudlur
Hi, I have a FDCC compliant workstation with FIPS 140-1 (Level 1) enabled. Now, i cannot run/debug any VS 2005/2008 applications on my machine I get the following error message on my browser Parser Error Message: This implementation is not part of the Windows Platform FIPS validated cryptographic algorithms. the Error points to line no 1 of default.aspx.cs file using system; The only way to successfully debug/run my application is to set the following registry key to 0 HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\fipsalgorithmpolicy I understand that there are some Cryptographic algorithms that are not FIPS compliant on XP SP2 but i am not using cryptography at all. For that matter, the solution contains just default.aspx page with default code in .cs file, and even that fails to run. So my question is why the webpage fails to load, and why the error points to line #1 "using System;" statement? My next question is how can i develop on FIPS compliant locked down maching where i do not have edit rights on registry Thanks kudlur

  • In VB.NET how do you specify Inherits/implements on a generic class with multi-constraints

    - by Romel Evans
When I write the following statement in VB.Net (C# is my normal language), I get an "end of statement expected" referring to the "Implements" statement. <Serializable()> _ <XmlSchemaProvider("EtgSchema")> _ Public Class SerializeableEntity(Of T As {Class, ISerializable, New}) _ Implements IXmlSerializable, ISerializable ... End Class The C# version that I'm trying to emulate is: [Serializable] [XmlSchemaProvider("MySchema")] public class SerializableEntity<T> : IXmlSerializable, ISerializable where T : class, new() { .... } Sometimes I feel like I have 5 thumbs with VB.NET :)

  • WebSphere Portal 6.1 + WAS 6.1 + Myfaces Portlet Bridge

    - by mephi
Does anyone know how to replace the IBM JSF Portlet Bridge with Myfaces Portlet Bridge 2.0? I want to set up a small local testing environment. Pluto + Tomcat + Myfaces Portlet Bridge. My Portlets are on JSF 1.1, but it should be possible to use JSF 1.2 Implementation!? Target is that a developed portlet(some old portlets use ibm jsf extended components) work on websphere portal and pluto without changes. I managed with maven profiles to get a small portlet with ibm jsf components to work in pluto, but i dont get it to work in websphere portal... Does anyone have experiences with that issue?

  • Custom Types in WCF Rest

    I am using the Rest Singleton WCF Service temple from the Rest Starter Kit. The temples uses sample item as its sample Item. i am attempting to replace that sample ITem with a custom type from web reference in my ASP.Net project .dll. The types and name spaces are found and i can replace the sample item in the code. when i run the application i get this error: "Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation." when this line is executed "return new SingletonServiceHost(serviceType, baseAddresses);" <%@ ServiceHost Language="C#" Debug="true" Service="SAUDServices.Service" Factory="SAUDServices.AppServiceHostFactory"%> using System; using System.ServiceModel; using System.ServiceModel.Activation; using Microsoft.ServiceModel.Web.SpecializedServices; using Stretchatyourdesk; namespace SAUDServices { class AppServiceHostFactory : ServiceHostFactory { protected override ServiceHost CreateServiceHost(Type serviceType, Uri[] baseAddresses) { return new SingletonServiceHost(serviceType, baseAddresses); } } }

  • Convert T-SQL function to PL/SQL
