• What weird encoding is movistar Venezuela sms on blackberry using?

  Send an sms using the normal GSM TextMessage API on the BlackBerry, get back garbage. It's not unicode, phone is set to 7-bit send. Byte size is only off by one. Is there some default crypto thing, or some weird encoding they use? This code works most everywhere else in the world; this definitely seems like a movistar problem. The string that comes back is random 7-bit ascii except for a few high order bytes. Needless to say the source input text is totally 7 bit chars, which should work in sms, ISO-8859 and look the same in UTF charsets. Anybody seen this or got sms working in code on movistar VZ blackberries?

  I have a Window set to the height and width of my monitors: var r = System.Drawing.Rectangle.Union( System.Windows.Forms.Screen.AllScreens[0].Bounds, System.Windows.Forms.Screen.AllScreens[1].Bounds ); Height = r.Height; Width = r.Width; This is all fine until I Lock my computer (WIN+L), when I come back the window has resized itself to be on one monitor only. What I want to do is prevent the decrease in size, as I'm drawing on a canvas on the second monitor, and when the resize occurs, this is all lost.. Any thoughts on how I can prevent this? Cheers!

  So I've got a page that shows an image with some absolutely positioned text on top of it. I want to write a print style sheet for it so that: the image is resized to fit the width of the page the text is repositioned and resized to maintain relative position and size with the image behind it So I know I can do (1) with just max-width: 100%, but I'm not sure how to accomplish (2). I'm okay with using some javascript if necessary, but I wanted to know if there's a way to do this in pure CSS. If I do need to use javascript, what can I hook to check for the pixel width of the image in the printed page? Just use the calculated width as normal? And yes, this question might be more appropriate for DocType, but I've yet to get any help over there.

  Hiya, Basically I have a table which is used to hold employee work wear details. It is formed of the columns: EmployeeID, CostCentre, AssociateLevel, IssueDate, TrouserSize, TrouserLength, TopSize & ShoeSize. An employee can be assigned a pair of trousers, a top and shoes at the same time or only one or two pieces of clothing. As we all know sepeoples sizes and employee levels can change which is why I need help really. I need to be able to select the most recent clothes size and associate level for each item of clothing for each employee. So for example if employee '54664LSS' was given a pair of 'XL' trousers and a 'L' top on 24/03/11 but then received a 'M' top on 26/05/10. Then the values of the 'M' sized top and the 'L' sized trousers would need to be returned. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm pretty stuck :(. Thanks.

The code is working fine and message is sent to all the contacts which are selected by the user but as we know there may be 1000 of contacts in phonebook and in these case to select a particular user we have to scroll down the list. Now how to keep the search facility so that we can directly go to the required contact and if it is not possible with the list control which control is to be used so that multiple contacts can be selected and also search facility is available.

• Issues with dynamically allocating a string array

  Brand new to C. I am trying to dynamically allocate the array frags2 of size numberOfFrags and copy over the contents of the original array to it. I have tried numerous approaches and searching and do not understand what is going wrong here. Sizeof on the new array returns 0 instead of what I thought I malloc'd. • Javascript form validation only works in firefox

  Hello, I am relatively new to Javascript so I'm hoping this is a simple mistake. I building a generic form validation function that is called on the form's onSubmit. The function loops through all the form's child elements, looks for certain classes, and analyzes the contents of the appropriate fields. If it finds something missing or erroneous, it displays the appropriate error message div and returns false, thus preventing the form from being submitted to the php page. It works well in firefox 3.6.3, but in every other browser I've tested (Safari 4.0.4, Chrome 4.1, IE8) it seems to ignore the onSubmit and jump straight to the php processing page.   I have several array to deal with. I need to extract the most duplicate value from each array. From [3, 7, 7, 7], I need to find the value 7. Each array size is 4. For now, I don't have to think about when the most duplicate values are more than one such as [3, 7, 7, 7]. All the values are a number. I looked around the web. I found several ways to make an array to become uniq(). But I haven't found a way to get the duplicate value. I am using jQuery, but raw JavaScript is fine for this task.

• Background position image overlay (Works in IE, not in Mozilla/Chrome/Safari)

  Hi all, I am having an issue positioning a background image using the following jquery background position command in Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari. The code works correctly in IE 8. $('#element).css({ backgroundPosition: 'xpx ypx' }); The x position of the image is calculated dynamically based on window size and the y position is static. The css appears to be modified correctly, however, the background image I am attempting to overlay is absent. • Light effect with image magick

  Hello, I'm using ImageMagick to resize an image to a smaller size gif. In this process I'm trying to give the image a light effect, not a side-light, just like a shiny look all over. Not a good comparison but for a better understanding think of an image seen in a old screen or an image seen in glossy monitor - I'm trying to enhance the image the closest to this point. An important point is that I can't make a image-to-image treatment, it must be something that I can use in all the images. I know ImageMagick is a powerful tool, and can certainly do something for my images! Many thanks!

• Upsides of a timebox for a customer

  So I have a customer with a potential big project that (ofcourse) does not know what they want exactly. The size of this project can be more that 4 or 5 months so that is a big risk. Thats why I want to sell a timebox. For me that takes away the risk of spending 10 months instead of 5 for the same price. The problem is that I can't comeup with good arguments to convince the customer that a timebox is better for them. Any suggestions? How do you people handle this/

• Upload file from client machine to server - prepopulate file picker path?

  Hi, I'd like to upload a file from a client machine to my server. The user would have to specify the file to upload as I understand it, using a form that looks like: <input type="file" name="datafile" size="40"> This pops up a native file picker, which is great. The problem I'm having is that it's a real pain (for most users) to go looking around their machine for the file I'm interested in. Is there a way I can initialize the file picker with a path to make it more convenient for the user? Like I know some users will be on a windows machine, so I could prepopulate the picker by already sending them to the My Documents folder for example. I don't see how this is possible, just wondering if something like that exists, Thank you

  I've got a data frame with far too many rows to be able to do a spatial correlogram. Instead, I want to grab 40 rows for each species and run my correlogram on that subset. I wrote a function to subset a data frame as follows: samp <- function(dataf) { dataf[sample(1:dim(dataf)[1], size=40, replace=FALSE),] } Now I want to apply this function to each species in a larger data frame. When I try something like culled_data = ddply (larger_data, .(species), subset, samp) I get this error: Error in subset.data.frame(piece, ...) : 'subset' must evaluate to logical Anyone got ideas on how to do this?

  I'm in the process of building a gallery for my public art pieces. I was wondering if there was an easy way to show and hide a div? I only want the concept text to be seen on the first page of the following link: http://www.gerardtonti.com/PresentTense/PresentTense.html Right now I have the concept in a div called "concept" set to absolute positioning. Is there also a way for the text to conform relative to the size of the window like the background image? I've also tried using an iframe and colorbox instead of a div but had no idea how to make the iframe visible only on the first slide as well.   There are obvious counterparts for some of file systems' basic operations (eg. ls and rm), but how would you implement not straightforwardly RESTful actions such as cp or mv? As answers to the question REST services - exposing non-data “actions” suggest, the preferred way of implementing cp would include GETting the resource, DELETing it and PUTting it back again with a new name. But what if I would need to do it efficiently? For instance, if the resource's size would be huge? How would I eliminate the superfluous transmission of resource's payload to client and back to the originating server? Here is an illustration. I have a resource: /videos/my_videos/2-gigabyte-video.avi and I want copy it into a new resource: /videos/johns_videos/copied-2-gigabyte-video.avi How would I implement the copy, move or other file system actions the RESTful way? Or is there even a proper way? Am I doing it all wrong?

  I want the window to respect MinWidth/MinHeight and MaxWidth/MaxHeight specifications of the content control inside. Some suggested using SizeToContent, but this only helps to set the initial window size, not the constraints. Others suggested overriding MeasureOverride and setting window's Min/Max height and width there, but this seems to be somewhat unclean, considering that such a trivial problem should surely have a purely declarative solution. Just to mention another solution which seems reasonable but does not work (and had been previously mentioned in an answer which got deleted): binding MinWidth of the window to MinWidth of the control does not take into account window decorations.

• Robust way to display an image with one fixed dimension

  Lets say that we have an image uploaded by the user, the upload script limits the mb but not the image size (so could be any proportion, 600X200,200X350, and so...). Im already showing this image in one part on my site using the twitter bootstrap image handler written on css, thats good for a profile picture, the problem is that now I want that image to be a cover (like facebook/twitter cover image), my site is responsive so the width of the cover is 900px or 100% if the screen resolution is less than 900px wide. The height is always fixed to 200px. So I know there is a way to control the correct image display using CSS (maybe with jquery too) but Im not a front-end dev, Im a php dev and I dont want to use server side scripts for doing this. So im looking for suggestions or pieces of codes (css, javascript) to start with, I belive that it have to be an already made solution for this, but I dont find any on google. Thanks for any advice!

  I've written code to smooth an image using a 3x3 averaging filter, however the output is strange, it is almost all black. • Wait for animation, render to complete - XAML and C#

  Hi all. I have a situation where I am animating part of my XAML application, and I need to wait for the animation AND rendering to complete before I can move on in my code. So far the tail end of my function looks like: ProcExpandCollapse.Begin(); while (ProcExpandCollapse.GetCurrentState() != ClockState.Stopped) { } } Which, in theory, will wait until the animation is finished. But it will not wait until the rendering is finished - the thread drawing the application might still not have re-drawn the animation. The animation is expanding a UIElement, and then the next part of my code uses it's rendered size to do some things. My question then is, how do I wait until my UI Element is re-rendered before moving on?

• Is there a way to have a bit bucket pointer? (C/C++)

  Is there a way to have a bit bucket pointer? A lot of IO (specifically input related) system calls return data to a buffer of a specific size. Is there a trick or way to make a sorta bit bucket pointer, so I can accept any amount of data that will be thrown away. Doing something like "char tmp[INT_MAX]" is crazy. The behavior I am looking for is something like /dev/null, only in a pointer world. Not to hopeful on this.... just curious. Thanks, Chenz UPDATE: Perhaps mmap-ing /dev/null.
