    Im just wondering how i use xmlencoder to serialize ArrayList where foo is my own made class. Do i have to do anything in particular, ie define my own xml structure first and then call toString on each value in my list and write it out? Can anyone point me to a good tutorial? http://java.sun.com/products/jfc/tsc/articles/persistence4/ Thats what i have been looking at but it doesnt seem to mention what to do with non library classes.     Looking for a custom tooltip (typical yellow baloon callout) on click of an anchor tag. The tooltip should appear and remain in view until the cross button on the tooltip is clicked. Just looking for a tried and tested open source solution. Tried googling this but most of the tooltip [...missing info?...] Ajax control toolkit has the calloutvalidator which seems like a good choice but is tied up to be used for validation tooltips.

I thought it's maybe a in-mind design of regex pattern but it will not really constrain the input, will it? I am not so good in psychokinesis yet! Or maybe the is some other way?     Hi. I've got form for some model A, which has got few fields: tile description ... colors colors are selected from multiple select and options are ['red', 'green', 'blue', 'yellow']. User can choose colors as many as he wants. I don't think that making Color model and has_many relationship is good solution here to store colors data in model A. So question is: How to store multiple data in db for such multiple select forms?

    I'm new to both unit testing and Visual Studio 2010 (just upgraded from 2008). I'm interested in using VS2010's new built-in unit testing tools, but would like to get the lay of the land first. I haven't been able to find any resources or tutorials on unit testing with VS2010 specifically - has anyone found a good walk-through? I'm also open to persuasion that we should stick with NUnit or the like, if anyone knows a reason to avoid the built-in tools.

  • Outputcache - how to determine optimal value for duration?

    I read somewhere that for a high traffic site (I guess that is a murky term as well), 30 - 60 seconds is a good value. Obviously I could do a load test and vary the values, but I couldn't find any kind of documentation on this. Most samples have a minute, a couple of minutes. There's no recommended range. Is there something on msdn or anywhere that talks about this?

    Apparently, after upgrading to Rails 2.3 my session storage has stopped working. I used to have this: session :session_expires = 3.years.from_now in my application_controller.rb, but now every time i close the browser (chrome) the session expires. I read from somewhere that session_expires would have changed to expire_after, but session :expire_after = 3.years.from_now didn't do any good eihter.

    It's common to declared contained objects as a pointers to that class, while "forward declarating" them in header file. This in order to reduce physical dependencies in code. For example class B; // forward declaration class A { private: B* pB; }; Would it be good idea to declare such a member as shared_ptr, instead of naked pointer? I would prefer scoped_ptr, but AFAIKit it won't be in standard.

    I'm looking for a good way to disable a JPanel. I'm using a MVC design for a Java Swing GUI. I want the JPanel to be disabled while the model is processing stuff. I've tried setEnabled(false). That disables user input on the JPanel, but I'd like it to be grayed out to add a more visual effect. Thanks in advance!
