  • NSPredicate error/behaving differently on 10.5 vs 10.6

    - by Tristan
I am using a NSPredicate to determine if an entered email address is valid. On 10.6 it works perfectly as expected. I recently decided to get my app going on 10.5 and this is the only thing that doesn't work. The error i get is as follows: "Can't do regex matching, reason: Can't open pattern U_MALFORMED_SET (string [email protected], pattern ([\w-+]+(?:\.[\w-+]+)*@(?:[\w-]+\.)+[a-zA-Z]{2,7}), case 0, canon 0)" The code im using is as follows: NSString *regex = @"([\\w-+]+(?:\\.[\\w-+]+)*@(?:[\\w-]+\\.)+[a-zA-Z]{2,7})"; NSPredicate *regextest = [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"SELF MATCHES %@", regex]; if ([regextest evaluateWithObject:[userEmail objectValue]] == YES) Does anyone know why this isn't working on 10.5? And how I might get it working or be able to do this test in a way compatible for both 10.5 and 10.6?

  • Where do you include FirePHP in Wordpress?

    - by Gnee
I'm using require_once() in header.php to include the FirePHP library. In the page.php I'm doing the usual... $firephp = FirePHP::getInstance(true); $firephp->log($categories); Getting these errors.. 'Headers already sent....' and Cannot send log data to FirePHP. You must have Output Buffering enabled via ob_start() or output_buffering ini directive... I figured the using require_once in the template's header.php (above all HTML output) would be safe (pre header output). Guess this is not the case. Anyone have experience with this? (P.S. I tried the WP FirePHP plugin, wasn't working right)

  • Assignment to None

    - by Joel
Hello, I have a function which returns 3 numbers, e.g.: def numbers(): return 1,2,3 usually I call this function to receive all three returned numbers e.g.: a,b,c=numbers() However, I have one case in which I only need the first returned number. I tried using: a, None None = numbers() But I receive "SyntaxError: assignment to None". I know, of course, that i can use the first option I mentioned and then not use "b" and "c", but only "a". However, this seems like a "waste" of two vars and feels like wrong programming. Any ideas? Thanks, Joek

  • CSS repeat pattern with linear gradient

    - by luca
I'm on my first approach with photoshop patterns.I'm buildin a webpage where I want to use my pattern to give a nice effect to my webpage background. The pattern I found is 120x120 px If I was done here I should use this css: background-imag:url(mypattern.jpg); background-repeat:repeat; But Im not done.Id like to *add to my page's background a linear gradient(dir=top/down col=light-blue/green) with the pattern fill layer on top of it, with blending mode=darken *. This is the final effect: I come to the point. QUESTION: Combining linear vertical-gradient effect and my 120x120 pattern is it possible to find a pattern that I could use to repeat itself endlessly both vertical and horizontal??which is a common solution in this case? Hope It's clear thanks Luca

  • Using persistent and non-persistent connection together in a PHP MySQL app

    - by cappuccino
There are parts of my app where a persistent connection is required, in particular the parts where every hour maybe 30,000 select requests are made by many different users, this is causing my mysql server to max out on the 100 connection limit, and i really don't want to increase it since 100 connections already seems like alot. So for the parts of the application where reading and selecting is the case I want to switch to persistent connections. The other parts where data is being modified is usually done through a transaction, and the general rule is never to use persistent connections for transactions according to the php documentation. So I would like to keep this on non-persistent connections. My question is, am i able to use persistent and non-persistent connections together in the same app, the same script etc? I am using PHP 5.2+, MySQL 5+ (InnoDB tables) and the Zend Framework 10.6+

  • What is the proper way to resolve this Eclipse warning?

    - by Morinar
I'm trying to clean up some warnings in some old Java code (in Eclipse), and I'm unsure what the proper thing to do is in this case. The block looks more or less like this: java.util.List clipboardFileList = null; if( content.isDataFlavorSupported( DataFlavor.javaFileListFlavor ) ) { try { clipboardFileList = (java.util.List)content.getTransferData( DataFlavor.javaFileListFlavor); } /* Do other crap, etc. */ } The List generates a warning as it isn't parameterized, however, if I parameterize it with <File>, which I'm pretty sure is what it requires, it complains that it can't convert from Object to List<File>. I could merely suppress the unchecked warning for the function, but would prefer to avoid that if there is a "good" solution. Thoughts?

  • SQL Server - Query Short-Circuiting?

    - by Sam Schutte
Do T-SQL queries in SQL Server support short-circuiting? For instance, I have a situation where I have two database and I'm comparing data between the two tables to match and copy some info across. In one table, the "ID" field will always have leading zeros (such as "000000001234"), and in the other table, the ID field may or may not have leading zeros (might be "000000001234" or "1234"). So my query to match the two is something like: select * from table1 where table1.ID LIKE '%1234' To speed things up, I'm thinking of adding an OR before the like that just says: table1.ID = table2.ID to handle the case where both ID's have the padded zeros and are equal. Will doing so speed up the query by matching items on the "=" and not evaluating the LIKE for every single row (will it short circuit and skip the LIKE)?

  • Iterate through all form fields within a specified DIV tag.

    - by user344255
    I need to be able to iterate through all the form fields within a specified DIV tag. Basically, any given DIV tag can have multiple form fields (which is easy enough to parse through), but it can also any number of tables or even additional DIV tags (adding additional levels of hierarchical layering). I've written a basic function that goes through each of the direct descendants of the parent node (in this case, the DIV tag) and it clears out its value. This part works fine. The problem is getting it to parse children when children (grandchildren) of their own. It winds up getting caught up in an infinite loop. In this case, I need be able to find all the form fields within DIV tag "panSomePanel", which will include some direct children (txtTextField1), but also some grandchildren who are within nested TABLE objects and/or nested DIV tags (radRadioButton, DESC_txtTextArea). Here is a sample DIV and its contents: <DIV id="panSomePanel"> <INPUT name="txtTextField1" type="text" id="txtTextField1" size="10"/><BR><BR> <TABLE id="tblRadioButtons" border="0"> <TR> <TD> <INPUT id="radRadioButton_0" type="radio" name="radRadioButton" value="1" /><LABEL for="radRadioButton_0">Value 1</LABEL> </TD> <TD> <INPUT id="radRadioButton_5" type="radio" name="radRadioButton" value="23" /><LABEL for="radRadioButton_5">Value 23</LABEL> </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> <INPUT id="radRadioButton_1" type="radio" name="radRadioButton" value="2" /><LABEL for="radRadioButton_1">Value 2</LABEL> </TD> <TD> <INPUT id="radRadioButton_6" type="radio" name="radRadioButton" value="24" /><LABEL for="radRadioButton_6">Value 24</LABEL> </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> <INPUT id="radRadioButton_2" type="radio" name="radRadioButton" value="3" /><LABEL for="radRadioButton_2">Value 3</LABEL> </TD> <TD> <INPUT id="radRadioButton_7" type="radio" name="radRadioButton" value="25" /><LABEL for="radRadioButton_7">Value 25</LABEL> </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> <INPUT id="radRadioButton_3" type="radio" name="radRadioButton" value="21" /><LABEL for="radRadioButton_3">Value 21</LABEL> </TD> <TD> <INPUT id="radRadioButton_8" type="radio" name="radRadioButton" value="4" /><LABEL for="radRadioButton_8">Value 4</LABEL> </TD> </TR> <TR> <TD> <INPUT id="radRadioButton_4" type="radio" name="radRadioButton" value="22" /><LABEL for="radRadioButton_4">Value 22</LABEL> </TD> </TR> </TABLE> <DIV id="panAnotherPanel"><BR> <TABLE cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" style="display:inline;vertical-align:top;"> <TR> <TD valign="top"> <TEXTAREA name="DESC:txtTextArea" rows="3" cols="48" id="DESC_txtTextArea"></TEXTAREA>&nbsp; </TD> <TD valign="top"><SPAN id="DESC_lblCharCount" style="font-size:8pt;"></SPAN> </TD> </TR> </TABLE> </DIV> </DIV> Here is the function I've written: function clearChildren(node) { var child; if (node.childNodes.length > 0) { child= node.firstChild; } while(child) { if (child.type == "text") { alert(child.id); child.value = ""; } else if (child.type == "checkbox") { child.checked = false; } else if (child.type == "radio") { alert(child.id); child.checked = false; } else if (child.type == "textarea") { child.innerText = ""; } //alert(child.childNodes.length); if (child.childNodes.length > 0) { var grandchild = child.firstChild; while (grandchild) { clearChildren(grandchild); } grandchild = grandchild.nextSibling; } child = child.nextSibling; } }

  • Will pool the connection help threading in sqlite (and how)?

    - by mamcx
I currently use a singleton to acces my database (see related question) but now when try to add some background processing everything fall apart. I read the sqlite docs and found that sqlite could work thread-safe, but each thread must have their own db connection. I try using egodatabase that promise a sqlite wrapper with thread safety but is very buggy, so I return to my old FMDB library I start to see how use it in multi-thread way. Because I have all code with the idea of singleton, change everything will be expensive (and a lot of open/close connections could become slow), so I wonder if, as the sqlite docs hint, build a pooling for each connection will help. If is the case, how make it? How know wich connection get from the pool (because 2 threads can't share the connection)? I wonder if somebody already use sqlite in multu-threading with NSOperation or similar stuff, my searching only return "yeah, its possible" but let the details to my imagination...

  • printf field width : bytes or chars?

    - by leonbloy
The printf/fprintf/sprintf family supports a width field in its format specifier. I have a doubt for the case of (non-wide) char arrays arguments: Is the width field supposed to mean bytes or characters? What is the (correct-de facto) behaviour if the char array corresponds to (say) a raw UTF-8 string? (I know that normally I should use some wide char type, that's not the point) For example, in char s[] = "ni\xc3\xb1o"; // utf8 encoded "niño" fprintf(f,"%5s",s); Is that function supposed to try to ouput just 5 bytes (plain C chars) (and you take responsability of misalignments or other problems if two bytes results in a textual characters) ? Or is it supposed to try to compute the length of "textual characters" of the array? (decodifying it... according to the current locale?) (in the example, this would amount to find out that the string has 4 unicode chars, so it would add a space for padding).

  • Python: split a list based on a condition?

    - by Parand
What's the best way, both aesthetically and from a performance perspective, to split a list of items into multiple lists based on a conditional? The equivalent of: good = [x for x in mylist if x in goodvals] bad = [x for x in mylist if x not in goodvals] is there a more elegant way to do this? Update: here's the actual use case, to better explain what I'm trying to do: # files looks like: [ ('file1.jpg', 33L, '.jpg'), ('file2.avi', 999L, '.avi'), ... ] IMAGE_TYPES = ('.jpg','.jpeg','.gif','.bmp','.png') images = [f for f in files if f[2].lower() in IMAGE_TYPES] anims = [f for f in files if f[2].lower() not in IMAGE_TYPES]

  • Making large toolbars like the iPod app

    - by andybee
I am trying to create a toolbar programatically (rather than via IB) very similar to the toolbar featured in the iPhone app. Currently I've been experimenting with the UIToolbar class, but I'm not sure how (and if?) you can make the toolbar buttons centrally aligned and large like that in the iPod app. Additionally, regardless of size, the gradient/reflection artwork never correctly respects the size and is stuck as if the object is the default smaller size. If this cannot be done with a standard UIToolbar, I guess I need to create my own view. In this case, can the reflection/gradient be created programmatically or will it require some clever alpha tranparency Photoshopped artwork?

  • Running log operation in Http Modules?

    - by Niranjan
Hi, I have a simple requirement in which I want to execute a long running application program on server (e.g. DTSX) I want to make an HTTP module for this, But I have a question whether the DTSX will run even if the user closes the page and browser. In my case user hits the handler with a query string but what if the user closes the browser immediately? How is the behavior different from simple linear page processing? I want my DTSX package to finish once its started no matter how much time it takes and also dont want to halt the user that is why I am using http modules in place of linear asp page processing. Reagrds, Niranjan

  • How do I compute the approximate entropy of a bit string?

    - by dreeves
Is there a standard way to do this? Googling -- "approximate entropy" bits -- uncovers multiple academic papers but I'd like to just find a chunk of pseudocode defining the approximate entropy for a given bit string of arbitrary length. (In case this is easier said than done and it depends on the application, my application involves 16,320 bits of encrypted data (cyphertext). But encrypted as a puzzle and not meant to be impossible to crack. I thought I'd first check the entropy but couldn't easily find a good definition of such. So it seemed like a question that ought to be on StackOverflow! Ideas for where to begin with de-cyphering 16k random-seeming bits are also welcome...) See also this related question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/510412/what-is-the-computer-science-definition-of-entropy

  • Right way to create [self]respawning app in python

    - by grapescan
I am using jabber bot written in python to log some MUC talks. Sometimes it drops on some network or XMPP problems. In this case I have to start it again by myself. The goal is to make it "self-respawning". I have some variants about how to do it. Bot is one process. Another process monitors its activity and starts it if bot died. Main process spawns bot subprocess and controls it. Also I think daemonizing bot process is useful here. Platform is Linux, as you could guess. What is the right way to solve this problem?

  • Scroll UITableViewCell above keyboard for small tableview

    - by JK
I have a tableview which is added to a UIViewController as the tableview only fills the bottom 3/4 of the screen. The rows contain editable UITextFields. When a field is tapped, the keyboard appears but the table does not scroll upwards as would normally be the case. Consequently, the keyboard obscures the field being edited. I have tried calling [tableView scrollToRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath atScrollPosition:(UITableViewScrollPosition)scrollPosition animated:(BOOL)animated] but this has no effect if the table contains only a few rows. How can I get the table to scroll a specific cell above the keyboard? Thank you

  • Content type - Restlet

    - by DutrowLLC
    How do you set the content type in Restlet (version 2.0 for google app engine)? In this case, I'd like to set the content type to ""text/xml". I have: public class SubResource extends ServerResource { @Get public Representation get(Representation representation){ setStatus(Status.SUCCESS_OK); StringRepresentation sr = new StringRepresentation(getSomeXml()); return sr; } } I'm unsure even if it is a value that is set in the Representation, or if it is set from the ServerResource class the same way that the return code is. ANSWER: StringRepresentation sr = new StringRepresentation(getSomeXml()); sr.setMediaType(MediaType.TEXT_XML);

  • Efficiency of checking for null varbinary(max) column ?

    - by Moe Sisko
Using SQL Server 2008. Example table : CREATE table dbo.blobtest (id int primary key not null, name nvarchar(200) not null, data varbinary(max) null) Example query : select id, name, cast((case when data is null then 0 else 1 end) as bit) as DataExists from dbo.blobtest Now, the query needs to return a "DataExists" column, that returns 0 if the blob is null, else 1. This all works fine, but I'm wondering how efficient it is. i.e. does SQL server need to read in the whole blob to its memory, or is there some optimization so that it just does enough reads to figure out if the blob is null or not ? (FWIW, the sp_tableoption "large value types out of row" option is set to OFF for this example).

  • why can't I comment lines in visual mode

    - by Haiyuan Zhang
I want to comment several lines in my .vimrc, the usual way I do it is :x,ys/^/"/ and x stands for the start line number and y stands for the line number of the last line. I read some post which said in visual mode this task can be done by the following step: 1 Select your lines with VISUAL BLOCK 2 press I to insert before all highlighted lines. 3 type your comment charact , in this case should be " 4 then ESC I fllowed the above steps and met met problems in step 2 . the thing is when I select the lines in Visual mode and press I , vim ( I use version7.2) go back to insert mode and the cursor back to the start of the first line. so if you continue to do the step 3 and step 4, you end up in just inserting " at the start the first line , far from what I want to achieve. so could you point out what's wrong with the recipe ? thanks in advance

  • What is the equivalent to Java's canvas object in C#?

    - by Winston
I'm working on creating a basic application that will let a user draw (using a series of points) and I plan to do something with these points. If this were Java, I think I would probably use a canvas object and some Java2D calls to draw what I want. All the tutorials I've read on C#/Drawing involve writing your own paint method and adding it to the paint event for the form. However, I'm interested in having some traditional Form controls as well and I don't want to be drawing over them. So, is there a "Canvas" object where I can constrain what I'm drawing on? Also, is WinForms a poor choice given this use case? Would WPF have more features that would help enable me to do what I want? Or Silverlight?

  • 'Error serializing body'. Problem calling Fedex webservice through .NET 3.5

    - by Simon_Weaver
I'm using Fedex's web services and getting an annoying error right up front before I can actually get anywhere. There was an error in serializing body of message addressValidationRequest1: 'Unable to generate a temporary class (result=1). error CS0030: Cannot convert type 'FedEx.InterOp.AddressValidationServiceReference.ParsedElement[]' to 'FedEx.InterOp.AddressValidationServiceReference.ParsedElement' error CS0029: Cannot implicitly convert type 'FedEx.InterOp.AddressValidationServiceReference.ParsedElement' to 'FedEx.InterOp.AddressValidationServiceReference.ParsedElement[]' '. Please see InnerException for more details. I'm using .NET 3.5 and get a horrible named class generated for me (I'm not sure why it isn't just AddressValidationService): AddressValidationPortTypeClient addressValidationService = new ...; on this class I make my web service call: addressValidationService.addressValidation(request); This is when I get this error. The only references I can find to this error come from ancient 1.1 projects. In my case my DLL has references to System.Web and System.Web.Services which seemed to be an issue back then.

  • Java: Local Enums

    - by bruno conde
Today, I found myself coding something like this ... public class LocalEnums { public LocalEnums() { } public void foo() { enum LocalEnum { A,B,C }; // .... // class LocalClass { } } } and I was kind of surprised when the compiler reported an error on the local enum: The member enum LocalEnum cannot be local Why can't enums be declared local like classes? I found this very useful in certain situations. In the case I was working, the rest of the code didn't need to know anything about the enum. Is there any structural/design conflict that explains why this is not possible or could this be a future feature of Java?

  • Using only alphanumeric characters(a-z) inside toCharArray

    - by Aaron
Below you will find me using toCharArray in order to send a string to array. I then MOVE the value of the letter using a for statement... for(i = 0; i < letter.length; i++){ letter[i] += (shiftCode); System.out.print(letter[i]); } However, when I use shiftCode to move the value such as... a shifted by -1; I get a symbol @. Is there a way to send the string to shiftCode or tell shiftCode to ONLY use letters? I need it to see my text, like "aaron", and when I use the for statement iterate through a-z only and ignore all symbols and numbers. I THINK it is as simple as... letter=codeWord.toCharArray(a,z); But trying different forms of that and googling it didn't give me any results. Perhaps it has to do with regex or something? Below you will find a complete copy of my program; it works exactly how I want it to do; but it iterates through letters and symbols. I also tried finding instructions online for toCharArray but if there exists any arguments I can't locate them.
