• Addslashes, mysql_real_escape always adding two slashes?

  I'm having an issue with inserting JSON into a database, my intention is to take the variables, json_encode them, remove slashes (from magic_quotes), and then addslashes back in to escape the quotes in {"key":"value"} Unfortunately, strip_slashes on the encoded string isn't doing anything, and outputs this {"content":"<p>This string has it\'s downsides</p>","date":1271352514} I have then tried addslashes, and mysql_real_escape_string, both output "{\\"content\\":\\"<p>This string has it\\\'s downsides</p>\\",\\"date\\":1271352514}" I can't work out why it's adding in two slashes? And I'm tearing my hair out over this, everytime I try to stripslashes it leaves one in, and adding slashes adds two. Any help would be hugely appreciated!

• Shell script not picking up password file...

  Running the below shell script seems to ignore the password file I'm feeding it. I'm continually prompted for it. If I enter it, the rest of the script goes without a hitch, but as I'm running it via cron, I really need to get it to read from the file... • Flex Debugger wont launch - Only on particular project.

  When trying to launch Flex debaugger on my project, it does not launch and I get an error instead. Every other project in different workspaces launches just fine. This is the only one giving me an issue. Here is the error: Process terminated without establishing connection to debugger. • Ruby on Rails - Currency : commas causing an issue.

  Looking on SO, I see that the preferred way to currency using RoR is using decimal(8,2) and to output them using number_to_currency(); I can get my numbers out of the DB, but I'm having issues on getting them in. Inside my update action I have the following line: if @non_labor_expense.update_attributes(params[:non_labor_expense]) puts YAML::dump(params) The dump of params shows the correct value. xx,yyy.zz , but what gets stored in the DB is only xx.00 What do I need to do in order to take into account that there may be commas and a user may not enter .zz (the cents). Some regex and for comma? how would you handle the decimal if it were .2 versus .20 . There has to be a builtin or at least a better way. • MySQL INSERT data does not get stored in proper db, only temporary?

  I'm having trouble with MySQL or Python and can't seem to isolate the problem. INSERTs only seem to last the run of the script and are not stored in the database. • Why is the EntityManager in my GAE + Spring (+graniteds) project reset to null?

  Hi all, I'm having a problem with autowiring my EntityManager. Actually at server startup I can see that the injection works ok, though when trying to use my EntityManager it appears to be null again. @Component public class DataDaoImpl { protected EntityManager entityManager; @Autowired public void setEntityManager(EntityManager entityManager) { System.out.println("Injecting "+entityManager); //works! this.entityManager = entityManager; } public void createData(String key, String value) { System.out.println("In createData entityManager is "+entityManager); //entityManager null!? ... Output: Injecting org.datanucleus.store.appengine.jpa.DatastoreEntityManager@a60d19 The server is running at http://localhost:8888/ In createData entityManager is null So somehow the autowired entityManager is reset to null when trying to use it.   Hi, the following code is to open a console application (which uses pdcurses for output, nothing special): myProcess.StartInfo.FileName = "some.exe"; myProcess.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = false; myProcess.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = false; myProcess.StartInfo.RedirectStandardInput = true; myProcess.Start(); The Problem is that it opens the designated window but directly closes it (it's barely visible). Starting the program without RedirectStandardInput works. The problem is that it does not throw an exception nor any error-message. What is wrong with my code? How can I write input to the program? Ideally, I would like to extract just the death rate statistics from each country XML DB (year and value). • Java: constructing a file from a URI?

  I need to obtain a File object from a URI, working in Java, but keep getting a length of zero - though I know the file size is not zero. I need the File object to pass to another constructor. I'm not sure if it's because I'm constructing it in the wrong way? If i try to output a decimal %d i get a number that possibly is a pointer to something. Can somebody explain why the integers become NSNumbers when i call the @avg operator?

I can't seem to find anywhere that tells me so, so maybe it's not possible or not good practise. • sampling integers uniformly efficiently in python using numpy/scipy

  I have a problem where depending on the result of a random coin flip, I have to sample a random starting position from a string. If the sampling of this random position is uniform over the string, I thought of two approaches to do it: one using multinomial from numpy.random, the other using the simple randint function of Python standard lib. • Program seems to get stuck ?

  I have a Java program, I did some change and the strange thing is no matter what I do now, it will output the same result before my change, I looked into my system (Windows Vista), and clicked on "Generate a system health report", the result says : Symptom : A service is reported as having an unexpected error code Cause : One or more services has failed. The service did not stop gracefully, suggesting the service may have crashed or one of its components stopped in an unsupported way. Details : Service exited with code not equal to 0 or 1077 Resolution : Restart the service It doesn't say which service, and I defragmented my drives a few times, it still gave me the same report. I also checked my memory, it says no problem with ram. Everything else is ok, I re-started the windows a few times, got more free space on my C: drive, yet the Java program is still not responding to my new changes, unless I intentionally make a mistake, it gives me compile error, but if it can compile successfully, it still gives me the results before the change. What can I do to fix this ? Frank

• Track/Display Array Index As Part Of Cout (C++)

  Hi, I have a command line C++ program that lets you enter basic information about a person (ID number, name, age, etc.) and I want to output to a console in the following manner: ------------------------------------------------------------------- Index ID # First Name Last Name Age ------------------------------------------------------------------- 0 1234 John Smith 25 The person objects are stored in an array of Persons and I've overload the ostream (<<) operator to print out all of the fields like you see. The dashed lines and header come from a displayHdg() function. Anyhow, I have not been able to figure out how to get the proper index value for the array. Ideally, I'd like to generate the indices for each line, but all my attempts have failed. The array is looped through and each object printed in the main() function, and the ostream is overloaded in a person class, so I tried to use global variables as well as static variables, and all of those produce incorrect numbering (i.e. show 0, 1 the first time (for 2 objects), then change to 1, 2 on the next display). Any ideas?

• Rails best practice on conditional parameters in a controller action

  I have a controller create action looks for one or more parameters in the following ruleset. Let's say we have two parameters, foo and bar. The rules are the following: 1) if foo doesn't exist in the parameter list, bar must. 2) if bar doesn't exist in the parameter list, foo must. 3) they can both co-exist. they can't both be omitted (that's redundant with my rules above :) ) Can anyone show an example in Rails on how this is handled in the controller? Should I use a before_filter? Would appreciate some guidance as this isn't something that ActiveRecord validates.. so I'd need to build an error message to the user directly from controller logic, not model logic. For bonus points, I output the error in XML, so if you can show how that's done, that'd be great. Hypothetically let's call the resource "Lorem", so it is created via http://foo/lorem.xml and we have lorem_controller.rb.

Now I would like to put my binary resources (images/icons) in a single project/assembly in this solution, so that all my other projects in can use them. My question is how I can do that? What type of project should I create and how should I reference these resources in my XAML code (in the other projects)? I've tried quite a few things but I can't seem to get it to work...

  Here is my current code: $image = 'img.jpg'; $source = imagecreatefromjpeg($image); list($origWidth, $origHeight) = getimagesize($image); $imgH = 75; $imgW = $origWidth / $origHeight * $imgH; $thumb = imagecreatetruecolor($imgW, $imgH); imagecopyresampled($thumb, $source, 0, 0, 0, 0, $imgW, $imgH, $origWidth, $origHeight); This allows me to output an image with a fixed height of 75 pixels. What I would like to do is have a constant image size of 99x75 pixels. Portrait images that don't fit into this will be cropped from the center (so the center of the original remains the center of the thumbnail - if that makes sense). How can I do this?
